I was thrilled when I got the call from Mel, back in the late summer of 2012. She wanted to book a session for her daughter – an extremely talented dancer, in Spring of 2013 when the family would be in Florida for vacation. She’d seen my work from a mutual Facebook acquaintance and wanted her daughter in the same type of shoot. I’m going to humblebrag here, but I love it when clients “get it”. We went back and forth over email and FB for the next few months brainstorming ideas and deciding on outfits. I can’t tell you how important this is. It gives me time to plan backdrops and posing ideas. I even stalked her FB to get an idea of how to best play up her daughter’s beautiful doe eyes and graceful composure. Mel also agreed to professional hair and makeup. Don’t get me wrong, for young girls and children we aren’t going for any sort of “Toddlers and Tiaras” look. We’re just looking to enhance, subtley for the camera. Plus, for girls who aren’t used to this treatment it makes them feel very special and beautiful, and this shows through in the images.

When the day of the shoot finally arrived everything went off without a hitch. It was a joy to capture Alexa’s image (Note to self: after a few slices of pizza most folks loosen up ). I was thrilled with the results and more importantly so were Mel and Alexa.

Mel and her family make a trip to Florida every year. I can’t wait to see them again in 2014!

I was honored recently to get the chance to shoot Avery’s Senior Session. Avery is into several activities at school and an accomplished musician and student. We had a great time during this on location shoot. We traveled to a few favorite places of mine that I thought would bring Avery’s true self out.

I think my favorite thing about shooting seniors is seeing all that potential. Sometimes I wonder if they see it themselves. It’s an exciting time in their lives and you get to glimpse the adult they will become. Thank you for tolerating my lens in your life, Avery! LOL!

I actually made this portrait last year, but I’m enjoying going back and painting some of my favorites. I loved this image because of the sweet moment it captured between siblings. It also doesn’t hurt that both girls are incredibly photogenic and oh-so cute

The first minute I saw Jade I knew I wanted her in my studio. As pixie dust and magic wishes go (Hey, we’re close to that place down the road), she did wind up in my studio and we had a grand time. Knowing Jade needed several different looks for her comp card we tried several and she owned all of them. I don’t think I even have a favorite. I loved the dark and high key images, but then I look at the location shots or the flowers and I just don’t know! What do you think?

I know Jade will have a bright career in front of her and I’m thrilled to be able to help her on her way…..I can’t wait to see the latest Mouseketeer!
