During 40 days for life campaign a Planned Parenthood director watches ultrasound of an abortion and later quits job

Just recently a Director of a Planned Parenthood in Texas quit working at Planned Parenthood after she watched an abortion and came out with public statements about why she resigned.

If you are aware of 40 days for life this story becomes even more interesting. The very place that 40 days for life began in 2004 is the very place that this director ran a Planned Parenthood in Bryan, Texas.

Guess where this now former Director of Planned Parenthood is praying outside of with Coalition for Life? Near her own old workplace that 40 days for lifers have been praying at for 5 years now.

Norma McCorvey the very Roe of Roe v. Wade who was also heavily prayed for by pro-lifers outside her clinic who later found forgiveness in Christ said before a Senate committee: "I urge everyone who supports abortion to look at the bodies to face the truth of what they support." This testimony before the Senate committee is a must read and archive. Forgiveness is clearly offered to anyone who will take Christ at His word. If God can change Roe God can change anybody. Paul uses this argument in 1 Timothy 1:15,16 when he writes: "This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief. Howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might shew forth all longsuffering, for a pattern to them which should hereafter believe on him to life everlasting."

Lastly, this last month of October has been an amazing month for the unborn in the usually more liberally bent media and university.

On NBC's Law and Order is aired a moving scene graphically describing an abortion and at the University of California at Berkely Genocide Awareness Project is displayed in a very secular liberal atmosphere. But before these two events the New York Times had a fair story on pro-lifers on its front page!!! Then on the New York Times online photography section features a photographer that photographs aborted babies and actually has some of her pictures up on display. CNN even covered about a million pro-life protesters in Spain and then later had a story covering a well known partial-birth abortionist and his number one foe a well known pro-life activist mostly with a balanced report.

"Adults in always-intact marriages who worship at least weekly are the least likely of all to have had adulterous sexual relations.

Description: According to the General Social Surveys (GSS), adults in always-intact marriages who attend religious services at least weekly are the most likely to be faithful to their spouses, with an adultery rate of 7.7 percent. Adults in always-intact marriages who never attend worship have a 15.3 percent rate of adultery, while among divorced or separated adults and married, previously-divorced adults, the rate is 23.3 percent for those who worship weekly and 33.8 percent for those who never worship.[1]

Related Insights from Other Studies

Several other studies corroborate the direction of these findings. Mark Whisman of the University of Colorado at Boulder and colleagues reported that infidelity was "negatively associated with" religiosity and "was predicted by greater marital dissatisfaction."[2]

Paul Amato and Stacy Rogers of the Pennsylvania State University also found that "frequent church attendance appears to lower the likelihood of divorce" and that infidelity was one of the "most consistent predictors of divorce," along with jealousy, drug use, drinking, and spending money foolishly.[3]

As the data indicate, always-intact married adults who attend religious services at least weekly are the least likely to have committed adultery.

ABC anchor Charles Gibson on Wednesday night had time to convey President Barack Obama's praise of Edward Brooke for “breaking barriers” as the first popularly-elected black U.S. Senator, but not to inform viewers he broke that barrier as a Republican. On NBC, however, David Gregory noted Brooke's party affiliation: “The Massachusetts Republican urged the lawmakers who gathered to congratulate him to put aside partisan differences and work together.”

Neither Gibson nor Gregory pointed out that after two terms representing Massachusetts, in 1978 Brooke, a fairly liberal Republican, was challenged and beaten by one of the media's liberal heroes, the late Paul Tsongas -- a Democrat who was a white guy.

The CBS Evening News didn't mention the honor for Brooke, which was actually approved more than a year ago.

Gibson announced on the Wednesday, October 28 World News:

And today, President Obama presented former Massachusetts Senator Edward Brooke, the first popularly-elected African-American Senator, with the Congressional Gold Medal. The President called Brooke's life an unlikely journey. He grew up in a segregated neighborhood and served in a segregated army. The President praised Brooke, now 90 years old, for breaking barriers and bridging divides across the country.

And here in Washington, a high honor for the first black man elected by the popular vote to the U.S. Senate. University of Otago in New Zealand reveals new study that 85% of women say abortions cause mental health issues

New Study Shows 85 Percent of Women Say Abortions Cause Mental Health Issues

Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- A new report from researchers at a university in New Zealand indicates 85 percent of women who had abortions report negative mental health issues as a result. The report is the latest from professor David Fergusson and his team showing abortions cause problems for women.

The University of Otago team examined the medical history of over 500 women and concluded having an abortion generally “leads to significant distress in some” women who have them.

It noted women reporting adverse reactions to their abortions were up to 80 percent more likely to have mental health problems and risk of mental illness was “proportional to the degree of distress” associated with the abortion.

The study, which appears in the latest issue of the British Journal of Psychiatry, examined data from women who had been interviewed six times between the ages of 15 and 30 and who were asked if they were pregnant and, if so, the outcome of the pregnancy.

More than 85 percent of women reported negative reactions to their abortions including sorrow, sadness, guilt, regret, grief and disappointment.

The study revealed that women who have abortions face more negative mental health problems resulting from that pregnancy outcome as compared with women who keep their baby and carry to term. Women having abortions had rates of mental health problems “approximately 1.4 to 1.8 times higher than women not exposed to abortion."

Ultimately, Fergusson and his team said there is little justification for saying that legal abortions should be promoted on the basis of a improving a woman's mental health.

“Collectively, this evidence raises important questions about the practice of justifying termination of pregnancy on the grounds that this procedure will reduce risks of mental health problems in women having unwanted pregnancy," the team wrote.

The team said the study showed no reason to “support strong pro-choice positions that claim unwanted pregnancy terminated by abortion is without mental health risks.”

The new study is a follow-up to previous studies Fergusson and his team conducted showing women who have abortions are more likely to become severely depressed.

The original 2006 study found some 42 percent of the women who had abortions had experienced major depression within the last four years. That's almost double the rate of women who never became pregnant. The risk of anxiety disorders also doubled.

According to the study, women who have abortions were twice as likely to drink alcohol at dangerous levels and three times as likely to be addicted to illegal drugs.

A second study Fergusson's team released found that women who had abortions had rates of mental health problems about 30% higher than other women. The conditions most associated with abortion included anxiety disorders and substance abuse disorders.

The authors concluded that anywhere from 1.5 to 5.5 percent of all mental health disorders seen in New Zealand result from women having abortions.

British Victims of Abortion, which helps women who suffer medical and mental health problems after an abortion, has welcomed the results of the new report.

Margaret Cuthill of BVA commented: "What we at British Victims of Abortion hear in the counseling room confirms the truth of Professor Fergusson's results."

FACT CHECK: Health insurers' profits 35th of 53

WASHINGTON – In the health care debate, Democrats and their allies have gone after insurance companies as rapacious profiteers making "immoral" and "obscene" returns while "the bodies pile up."

But in pillorying insurers over profits, the critics are on shaky ground. Ledgers tell a different reality.

Health insurance profit margins typically run about 6 percent, give or take a point or two. That's anemic compared with other forms of insurance and a broad array of industries, even some beleaguered ones.

Profits barely exceeded 2 percent of revenues in the latest annual measure. This partly explains why the credit ratings of some of the largest insurers were downgraded to negative from stable heading into this year, as investors were warned of a stagnant if not shrinking market for private plans.

Insurers are an expedient target for leaders who want a government-run plan in the marketplace. Such a public option would force private insurers to trim profits and restrain premiums to compete, the argument goes. This would "keep insurance companies honest," says President Barack Obama.

The debate is loaded with intimations that insurers are less than straight, when they are not flatly accused of malfeasance.

The insurers may not have helped their case by commissioning a report that looked primarily at the elements of health care legislation that might drive consumer costs up while ignoring elements aimed at bringing costs down. Few in the debate seem interested in a true balance sheet.

A look at some claims, and the numbers:

THE CLAIMS

_"I'm very pleased that (Democratic leaders) will be talking, too, about the immoral profits being made by the insurance industry and how those profits have increased in the Bush years." House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., who also welcomed the attention being drawn to insurers' "obscene profits."

_"Keeping the status quo may be what the insurance industry wants. Their premiums have more than doubled in the last decade and their profits have skyrocketed." Maryland Rep. Chris Van Hollen, member of the Democratic leadership.

_"Health insurance companies are willing to let the bodies pile up as long as their profits are safe." A MoveOn.org ad.

THE NUMBERS:

Health insurers posted a 2.2 percent profit margin last year, placing them 35th of 53 industries on the Fortune 500 list. As is typical, other health sectors did much better — drugs and medical products and services were both in the top 10.

The railroads brought in a 12.6 percent profit margin. Leading the list: network and other communications equipment, at 20.4 percent.

HealthSpring, the best performer in the health insurance industry, posted 5.4 percent. That's a less profitable margin than was achieved by the makers of Tupperware, Clorox bleach and Molson and Coors beers.

The star among the health insurance companies did, however, nose out Jack in the Box restaurants, which only achieved a 4 percent margin.

UnitedHealth Group, reporting third quarter results last week, saw fortunes improve. It managed a 5 percent profit margin on an 8 percent growth in revenue.

Van Hollen is right that premiums have more than doubled in a decade, according to a Kaiser Family Foundation study that found a 131 percent increase.

But were the Bush years golden ones for health insurers?

Not judging by profit margins, profit growth or returns to shareholders. The industry's overall profits grew only 8.8 percent from 2003 to 2008, and its margins year to year, from 2005 forward, never cracked 8 percent.

The latest annual profit margins of a selection of products, services and industries: Tupperware Brands, 7.5 percent; Yahoo, 5.9 percent; Hershey, 6.1 percent; Clorox, 8.7 percent; Molson Coors Brewing, 8.1 percent; construction and farm machinery, 5 percent; Yum Brands (think KFC, Pizza Hut, Taco Bell), 8.5 percent.

Beware of skin creams that contain fetal proteins from aborted babies

WND.COM reports that the skin creams contain fetal proteins from aborted babies.

"...a Switzerland-based cosmetics manufacturer whose website openly admits some of its products were developed from the tissues of an aborted baby.

Children of God for Life is a non-profit organization focused on the bioethics of embryonic tissue use in medicine and manufacturing...."It is absolutely deplorable that Neocutis would resort to exploiting the remains of a deliberately slaughtered baby for nothing other than pure vanity and financial gain," said Debi Vinnedge, executive director of Children of God for Life, in a statement. "...There is simply no moral justification for this."...Neocutis skin cream, Journée day cream, Lumière eye cream and Bio-Gel bio-restorative hydrogel – products Vinnedge is advising women to throw in the garbage before contacting Neocutis to voice their concerns....Children of God for Life boasts that it has been a watchdog on pharmaceutical companies using aborted fetal cell lines in medical products...vaccines...and has received thousands of inquiries from the public on the use of aborted fetal material in cosmetics. But this is the first time, the organization says, that any company was bold enough to put the information right on its own website and in product literature....

In fact, the Neocutis website openly explains the history of its PSP ingredient:

"A small biopsy of fetal skin was donated following a one-time medical termination," the website states, "and a dedicated cell bank was established for developing new skin treatments. Originally established for wound healing

and burn treatments, today this same cell bank also provides a lasting supply of cells for producing Neocutis' proprietary skin care ingredient Processed Skin Cell Proteins."

The company adds, "No additional fetal biopsies will ever be required."

But Children of God for Life finds little consolation in the company's statement.

"You note in your literature that 'no further fetal biopsies will be needed,' as though the life of the one child you have exploited has no value," wrote the organization in a letter to Neocutis' CEO. "It is deplorable that you would attempt to mollify the public and whitewash your badly tarnished image so thoughtlessly."

Students may protest, rally or voice their opinions anywhere on campus under UNT’s new free speech policy.

After meetings with student organizations, letters from civil rights groups and repeated conferences with its legal counsel, UNT created a new policy for public assembly that could go into effect as early as Wednesday.

Jeff Pittman of The Lost Cause Ministries proselytizes in the free speech area in front of the University Union on Oct. 13. The non-profit organization has used one of UNT’s six designated free speech areas since January 2008, but a change to UNT policy will make all of campus a public forum. “Basically, the campus is now a free speech area. We do not restrict free speech. We have done away with the zones,” Bataille said, referring to UNT’s previous policy, which required reservations two days in advance for six areas on campus designated for free speech.

Bataille said she understood students’ frustration about how long it has taken to amend the old policy.

Students from the UNT Free Speech Coalition met with Bataille in July to ask for revisions to the policy.

“They placated us,” said Garrett Graham, one of the group’s members and a radio, television, and film junior. “The meeting was very sobering and educational. I had no idea how little Gretchen Bataille cares about this issue.”

Graham said the group met Bataille with a list of demands and that Bataille told them she didn’t negotiate with people who have demands.

“We’ve asked to get our foot in the door and we are locked out of this process,” he said. “There is almost no student involvement. I haven’t gotten a response from them. She made it clear that this isn’t a huge priority.”

However, Bataille said she was interested in a dialogue with students, but there was a “tone issue” in the group’s demands.

“I asked for this policy change a long time ago,” she said, adding that legal revisions to the policy started sometime between six and 12 months ago.

Most major Texas universities already have a campus-wide free speech policy in place, including Texas A&M University, the University of Texas and Texas Tech University.

Others, like Texas Christian University, still have a policy similar to UNT’s old one, restricting free speech to designated areas.

The Foundation for Individual Rights in Education sent a letter to UNT on Sept. 9 demanding changes to UNT’s policy.

William Creeley, the director of legal and public advocacy at the foundation, drafted the letter and said that six free-speech areas did not provide nearly enough space for free expression.

After the group sent the letter, the UNT General Counsel was eager to assure that big changes were coming within 45 days, Creely said.

“By quarantining free expression on campus to just six areas, UNT betrays its obligation as a public institution of higher education,” he said.

In a 2004 federal trial, the foundation coordinated litigations at Texas Tech because students could only voice opinions in a “Free-Speech-Gazebo.”

The federal court ruled that Texas Tech’s policy violated the first amendment, and Creeley said UNT’s free speech policy clearly fell under the precedent set by that case.

“Students at UNT need to be aware of the fact that the value of their diploma will only be increased by these changes,” Creeley said. “Going to school in an environment where expression is celebrated and not hidden and students are exposed to a wide range of ideas is the point of a modern liberal education.”

Assistant political science professor Paul Collins said the right to free speech is allowed in any public forum and that college campuses are “much more ambiguous.”

“I don’t think anyone would agree that a classroom is a public forum, meaning that some individual or some group could come in and protest,” he said. “A different question is: ‘What about outside? Is that a public forum?’”

Student President Faces Removal after Allowing Pro-Life Display

SACRAMENTO, California, October 30, 2009 (LifeSiteNews.com) - A Christian student government president in California is facing a recall amidst anger from some administration and students after the student government permitted a pro-life demonstration during the college's annual Constitution Day celebrations.

Constitution Day at Sacramento City College, which took place this year on September 16-17, is an annual celebration of the Constitution and free speech, which features external speakers and organizations who request an invitation from the Associated Student Government (ASG).

ASG president Steve Macias, 19, and student affairs commissioner Monica Guzman now risk losing their positions in a recall vote after the ASG welcomed the Genocide Awareness Project (GAP). Run by the Sanctity of Human Life Network, GAP draws a comparison between abortion and past genocidal atrocities through graphic images.

While the ASG voted unanimously in favour of the GAP display on September 2nd, in response to a request from the pro-life group, some ASG officials have since denounced the event, admitting they were not aware of the nature of the group when they voted.

"The way the voting works is you get a proposal to read it the week before and you have a week to read it over before you vote on it at the board meeting," Macias told WorldNetDaily. "I guess some of them hadn't read it over and voted on it without knowing what it was. I guess they probably saw Genocide Awareness Project and thought, 'That sounds fine.' They didn't really do their research or ask any questions."

Critics say that hosting GAP without inviting an alternate viewpoint manifested a biased position from the ASG, but, in a September 17th statement, Macias insisted that "the ASG has not endorsed any one side of the debate on the constitutionality of abortion."

Rather, they merely accepted the group's request, he said. "The ASG does not take into consideration the specific viewpoint of those who request to be a part of ASG events," he explained. "The determining factor in our Constitution Day events was based on whether or not they addressed constitutional issues that were relevant to students and stressed the importance of our nation's founding documents."

On the second day of the event, several pro-abortion groups came out in response to the GAP display. Planned Parenthood, the Queer-Straight Alliance club, the Sac City Freethinkers club, and SCC Health Services put up their own booths and passed out flyers.

"They set up tables across from their exhibit and harassed them the entire time they were there, throwing condoms at them, yelling at them, putting signs up and saying, 'A woman's choice is a woman's choice,'" Macias told WND.

Macias says that on the day of the event the administration took him out of class to demand that he shut down the GAP display, despite the fact that the campus is open to the public.

"I was in class," he told WND. "The administration tried to call my phone a million times. Eventually, I walked out of the classroom and picked up the phone."

Vice President of Student Services Michael Poindexter and ASG faculty adviser Lee Weathers-Miguel met him outside his classroom and demanded that he have the pro-life group leave right away.

"I said, 'I can't tell them to leave. They have every right to be here'," said Macias, to which they responded, "Go out there and tell them to move their display somewhere off campus or turn their signs around. Tell them this isn't OK."

"I can't tell them to do any of that," Macias said. "They have every right to be here, and it's not my place to tell them what to do with their display."

"After I refused to tell the group to take it down, they said, 'We're pi--sed off about this. This is unacceptable,'" he said.

Poindexter and Weathers-Miguel told him that he should have invited a pro-abortion group as well. "They said if I had invited people from the other side, this would have been OK," he explained. "If I would have included Planned Parenthood in this, then it would be perfectly fine. But because I hadn't, they needed to go."

Poindexter left, but Weathers-Miguel remained. "He said he was incredibly mad because I had 'made him look like an a-- in front of the administration'," Macias said. "He also said he wouldn't forget this."

The recall election was called by Weathers-Miguel shortly afterward, through a violation of protocol, according to Macias. The election took place October 27-28 and the results have not yet been released.

A week after the event, the Queer-Straight Alliance took up a petition for the new election, and then submitted it to Weathers-Miguel, who validated it and chose a date for the election.

The student government constitution, however, says Macias, dictates that the petition is to be submitted to and validated by the student justice board. The petition is then given to the student affairs board, who establish election rules for the ASG board to vote on.

"The date [Weathers-Miguel] chose was less than six days away," he said, though College President Kathryn E. Jeffery later pushed it back. "They gave us no information, no letters, phone calls or e-mails. I found out about it through the school newspaper."

According to Macias, the university administration and students supported free-speech displays, so long as they as they were not pro-life. "They are now saying that they don't support this group, so it shouldn't be allowed on campus - which is wrong," he said. "They obviously don't have a firm grasp of what free speech is if they feel that way."

The extreme reaction to GAP at Sacramento City College sharply contrasts their reception (http://www.lifesitenews.com/ldn/2009/oct/09102807.html) at the University of California-Berkeley earlier this week. Despite strong protest from the campus pro-abortion groups, the university administrators of the strongly pro-abortion campus defended their right to be there.

"We don't regulate content," said Dean of Students Jonathan Poullard.

Over 200 Christendom College Students Protest Abortion at Planned Parenthood Clinic

FRONT ROYAL, VA, November 3, 2009 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Christendom College's pro-life student group, Shield of Roses, held its biggest protest in over 30 years of its existence this past Saturday. On October 31, over 200 students, faculty, staff, and visitors traveled to Washington, D.C., to peacefully protest abortion at the Planned Parenthood clinic, located just north of the White House, on 16th Street.

The group protests at this same clinic each Saturday morning during the academic year, but normally only around 20-30 students make the trek into D.C. on a weekly basis. Once a semester, however, the group's leadership organizes what it calls a "Mega Shield" event and encourages as many of the members of the College community as possible to participate. Last year, Mega Shield events drew as many as 125 students, and prior years' saw up to 150 participants.

"All of the members of our college community are, of course, pro-life," says Shield of Roses President Paul Wilson, who will be graduating this May, "but getting college students to give up their Saturday mornings to drive 75 miles to Washington to pray four rosaries and a Divine Mercy Chaplet and to drive another 75 miles back to campus all before lunch is a lot to expect even for Christendom students. But once a semester, when we organize Mega Shield, the members of our community really get fired up."

According to a woman identifying herself as Professor Foxy, writing for an online blog on feministing.org, Christendom College students are really making an impression on those who work at the abortion clinic, and are changing the face of "anti-choice" America.

In her article, entitled, "Thank you Dr. Tiller," Professor Foxy, who says that she works as a pro-choice clinic escort at the Planned Parenthood clinic where the Shield of Roses group prays, writes: "Over the years, the antis [anti-abortion protesters] have stayed the same and they have changed.

"When I started, almost all the antis were 45 plus, white, male and slightly disheveled. These antis still exist, but they are now joined by the younger antis. Some of these younger antis are hip, especially the Bound for Life crowd. We also have many, many students who come from local colleges, the most prominent being Christendom College. They drive in from Front Royal, VA every Saturday morning (leaving in time for Saturday brunch) to stand outside the local Planned Parenthood. Most of them pray (ending each Saturday with a rousing Viva!), but a few of them approach the patients. Nervously approaching the women entering the clinic, the Christendom kids tentatively say 'we can help you save your baby. Each baby is a blessing from God.'"

"It really makes you think," says Admissions Director Tom McFadden, who attended the October 31 Mega Shield. "I've been to the annual March for Life in D.C. probably over 20 times and it's hard to tell what affect it has on saving the lives of unborn babies. But this past Saturday, being there, kneeling on the grass in front of the abortion clinic, made a difference.

"Through the grace of God and our physical presence, we ended up saving the lives of two babies because their mothers chose not to enter the clinic that day. It doesn't really get much better than that!"

Shield of Roses has been protesting at this particular Planned Parenthood clinic for the past ten years, and over the past five years, members of the pro-life group have built relationships with some of the pro-choice clinic escorts, even offering some of their rosaries for these same clinic escorts.

In England alcohol related deaths and hospital visits are at emergency levels says health professionals via The Christian Institute:

"Senior health professionals have said the impact of alcohol is “becoming a public health emergency” and called for tough legislative changes to combat the wide availability of cheap drink....A study conducted by the Alcohol and Health Research Unit at the University of the West of England found that nearly 9,000 people die from alcohol-related diseases, a three-fold increase in the last 25 years....The figures of hospital admissions were compiled by the North West Public Health Observatory. Researchers found that 863,257 patients sought hospital treatment for alcohol-related harm in 2007-08. This was an eight per cent increase on the previous year, the equivalent of 176 extra admissions every day....Annual NHS expenditure to counter alcohol misuse is estimated at £2.7 billion, while last year the Government estimated that alcohol costs the economy between £17.7 billion and £25.1 billion a year."

In Scotland "The drug problem in Scotland is totting up an annual bill of almost £3.5 billion in social costs and money flowing to the black market, according to new Scottish Government research. Drug costs relating to social factors such as NHS treatment, the criminal justice system and social care amounted to the equivalent of £400,000 an hour."-The Christian Institute.

In the US the Health Care Bill under the Senate Finance Committee would allow insurance companies to charge extra premiums for tobacco users up to 50% higher while marijuana and crack cocaine smokers they could not penalize. This is an example of how governmental regulations drive health insurance premiums up for all (for another way see post at Average cost of health care insurance varies from $3000 to $12,000 a year depending on which state you live in. Why?). This is also an example of how health insurance can become itself addicting if there are no consequences to one's actions in health care premiums. Either way you look at it it is clear that these regulations will inevitably lead to higher costs for all and so then we can not complain about higher costs if we are on the other hand for such regulations.

The current health care reform will inevitably lead to higher costs. The above links and post give some examples why but do watch below video from the Senate floor on the 27th over the issue of whether or not the current health care bill will or will not reduce health care costs. Give a listen and notice how the democrats respond to the claims which begins at about 54:15 and notice no rebuttal to the claim that health care costs will increase under the Senate bill.
