20th Century Fox has revealed the full new trailer for Mark Wahlberg's action-thriller Max Payne, opening in theaters on October 17. Directed by John Moore, the video game adaptation co-stars Mila Kunis, Beau Bridges, Chris "Ludacris" Bridges and Olga Kurylenko.Wahlberg plays maverick cop Max Payne who is hell-bent on revenge against those responsible for the brutal murder of his family and partner. His obsessive investigation takes him on a nightmarish journey into a dark underworld. Set in the early 18th century, the story follows the life of Krabat, a 14-year old Wendish beggar boy living in the eastern part of Saxony. For three consecutive nights, he is called through a dream to a watermill near the village Schwarzkollm. Upon heeding the call and arriving at the mill, he begins his apprenticeship as a miller's man. He soon joins the secret brotherhood, composed of journeymen and apprentices, and discovers that the skill he is meant to learn through this apprenticeship is Black Magic.

Capsule's most recent offering"Blue"on Robotic Empire features crazy time signature changes and gritty guitar sounds. These high points alone are fantastic and everything, but part of the reason Blue feels the way it does is - and this has been pointed out elsewhere, but I'll reiterate - is because of the intensity of the low-end. Those downstroke strums resonate well beyond your speakers, through your ribcage, right to the neurons in the gray matter of your brain.

Finally, coming out on DVD this week comes the Dark Korean version of Hansel and Gretel. A reckless youngster Eun-soo drives to his mother’s, and has a car accident. When Eun-soo wakes up, he meets a mysterious girl and is led to her fairytale-like house in the middle of the forest. There, Eun-soo is trapped with the girl and her siblings who never age. Soon he learns all the adults who visited or stayed in the house have met mysterious yet terrible ends. More shockingly, their cruel deaths are drawn in details and made into a fairytale book by the children. Scared Eun-soo tries to find the way out, but the house is secluded in the forest with no way out. And then, Eun-soo discovers a book which tells a brutal end of none other than himself!

In truth, you can hear bits of a host of genres in these songs, from early Texas is the Reason and Promise Ring to Pavement and even hints of hardcore bands like Fugazi. But I keep coming back to bands like Sugar and Engine 88. This band brings back that style with a modern twist.

Simply put "Braid is the best 2d platform game ever." There are just three things you need to know about Braid, which is quite remarkable when you think about how many games there are out there which pile on extra levels of needless complexity. First, you should know that Braid is beautiful. Not just pretty, but beautiful. It isn’t like Crysis where you play it for a bit and occasionally go oooh and aaahh at the big explosions, it’s more like looking at a really nice painting or having a dream like the heaven-sequences from What Dreams May Come.The second thing you need to know is that the game is challenging. Again, not in the way that you might have come to expect thanks to a lifetime of shooters and reflex games. Braid manages to stand apart compared to even conventional puzzle games as it requires not just an ability to think laterally, but that you find a whole new way to think laterally. The third thing you need to know is that Braid is excellent. Let’s get that clear from the off – balls out of the bag, so to speak. Braid is phenomenal and you can stab me in the face with a soldering iron if I’m exaggerating about that.

Detroit Metal City is why I love bizzare Japaneese cinema. Negishi Souichi (Ken'ichi Matsuyama) leaves his family's farm in Oita Prefecture for the bright lights of Tokyo. There he swaps his taste in Swedish pop for the totally out-of-character death metal, taking on the role of vocalist in the trio Death Metal City and adopting the name Johannes Krauser II. This is a definite must see.

Off With Their Heads are a punk band that hail from Minneapolis and are signed to No Idea! records. From The Bottom is their most recent offering and upon first listen, definite comparisons to the Dillinger Four will arise and that's not a bad thing either. Upbeat guitars along with chanty chrous lines mixed with raspy yet clear vocals makes this a really enjoyable album and band.

First, a little back history on this movie. Clive Barkers' Midnight Meat Train is only playing on one-hundred screens. Why you ask? Because the new studio head of Lionsgate is sabotaging any and all projects from the former studio hierarchy. Good ole' studio politics at play. They even dumped this movie into dollar theaters as to just barely fill their contractual obligations. These childish antics are sad because this movie rocks.

Midnight Meat Train will make people fear the subways as much as Jaws made people fear the water. Visionary director Ryuhei Kitamura (Versus, Alive) shines in his American directorial debut as he stuns viewers with his no holds barred terror-filled horror film bound to be talked about for many years to come. Kitamura delivers gory visceral goods with this shocking horror movie and each of them is a hard punch to the cerebral. Gore hounds will be pleased Kitamura kept the spirit of the death scenes from the short story alive, was actually able to go beyond expectations in terms of the uniqueness of the kills. Most of them are so elaborate and so visually stunning, that you will find it hard to turn away, even though you want to. The audiences are witness to decapitations, slit throats, and bashed in faces guaranteed to make you gasp in fright.

Rating: 8 out of 10
