Class action lawsuit has just been filled in Canada over dental cream that hold force teeth in place. It’s ledge there’s enough zinc some creams cause brain damage. CBC’s Lisa Johnson has the details.

Amanda Deve’s remembered been healthy, able to job, ride a bike and work 12 hours a day, that end for her in May 2007.

“I was actually like I have a stroke. And it happened at work. And I lost all use of my voice and my wends, couldn’t walk or talk.”

For more than a year that she couldn’t walk or spend time with her grandkids. Treatment has helped he get back on the job, but her hands and voice still tremble and even the bright light from our TV interview triggered her symptoms.

“Just what a pain way, I had to stop.”

Deve’s blame her denture cream for making her sick. It contains zinc, which’s already been in the subjective several class action lawsuits in US.

“If you use fishing poly cream and other dental cream been diagnose with the zinc poisoning.”

This week the merchant law group filed class action lawsuit in three provinces including BC.

“We’ve been contacted by several hundred people. I think the estimation likely in the thousands of people that maybe effected.”

Now zinc is a mineral found in foods and lots of products. But it’s said high dose that can have serious side effects. The lawsuit claim the problem with these cream is that there’s no warning that contain zinc and no information on how much is safety use. Neither company will comment on the lawsuit. Classes make cline which make poly grain stop shipping product containing zinc last Feb. And when customers excessive zincing take would lead tingling, enormous and difficulty walking. Products in gamble makes fix dent which still contain zinc. The company says the product the safety use as directed as warning bout excessive use on some tooth.

“How’s your headache now?”

“Oh, it’s a lot better.”

Deve’s says the warning coming too late for her.

It was a rough morning commute today. Tens of thousands of commuters across metro Vancouver were late for work. After two sky train lines ground a hauled, official shut down on most of the system losing communication with the two trains. Here’s Debra Goble with what happened and why.

With school back in and most people’s summer vocation is just distant memory. The reality rush hour came back in, full forth this morning.

“Well, I’m not sure, if I’m going to make it anytime.”

It was just after 7:15, when the sky train went down, leaving tens of thousands of people scrambling to get where they were going.

“I’m from King George and I’m going to water front, but I have to like transfer here, so to other place.”

“I’m gonna be late for school.”

Extra buses were called in.

“I waited for like 15 minutes.”

“I say 45 minutes.”

For those already aboard, one of the 56 sky trains in service. It meant being stuck for anywhere between 2 and 30 minutes.

“Headache though and frustrating.”

“People get notorious?”

“Oh, no.”

It was a tough commute. All was because of a small piece of metal on the part of the track known as the loop.

“You see the thick wire running alone? That’s the loop and that communicates between train and the central computer. And what happened this morning is there was something in the railway didn’t belong there. It was picked up by the train and it took out one of those loops. When that happens the computer loses his contact with the train. And when that happens the automated system shuts down until we find out what the deal is with the train. Obviously, you don’t want trains bumping into each other.”

Translink says that didn’t and won’t ever happen because safety precautions like the one that was implemented today work. Still was about 4 hours before the sky train was completely back to normal.

Their slogan is we deliver, but people are wondering where’s the mail. Workers at the Canada post brought a problem to our attention, mail is been held up because of staffing decision. Tim Weeks has the story.

While letter carriers were delivering the mail today, their Union was delivering a warning. It says Canada Post hasn’t been back filling workers become ill or take leave and Union says that means undelivered mail piles up.

“Non delivery has wrong unifications of the community of course. Cause people depends on GST cheques and family allowance cheques and various other correspondence and they depend on Canada post for that service.”

Canada post says it is a challenge dealing with the unplanned absent workers but the cooperation says if your cheque is in the mail, it will still get through.

“Definitely, if there are important mail items like that we’re getting them out. We’re taking you know the necessary matches to make sure that customer services is not jeopardize for important mail.”

However, the union said it has a growing list of ingrivence indicate that Canada post has not been covering rules adequately. They call it policy of non-delivery.

“Meeting customers expectation is nothing out of the ordinary for Canada post.”

Canada post says there’s no non-delivery policy, but official say with the growing use of email, the over all volume of mail has dropped and they’re trying to adjust the number of hours to work to match that but service they argue is been maintained.

“From where the items is coming from, that is either a 2,3 or 4 day delivery standard and we’re meeting those 96% of the time, either meeting or exceeding that number.”

The Union meanwhile says it’s been documenting several unstaff routs that and they say if the mail is been delayed it’s not just incontinence.

“Well in fact, Canada post Act states and its active legislation that if you intensively delay the mail, it maybe editable fines or resulting up to five years in prison.”

Canada post says if the customer don’t get the mail for a few days, it could be because nothing were sent to them.

Well, where there’s a fire, there’s smoke and lots hazard. Drifting from British Columbia, halfway across the country, as Susana De silva reports. Those fire’s reign in BC raising health concerns through out the west.

These pictures were taking by a member of fire crews. He’s been all that first line for 22 days, providing first aid.

“Need go to bed, need get up and do it all over again. So you know, they’re amazing.”

With massive fires burning through the province. It’s going to take a lot more help to get them out. The government has announced more than 300 fire fighters are being brought in from Alberta and the North. Cruises were able to get back in the air today and the high winds have passed, leaving fire officials optimistic.

“It’s cooler outside, anyone in the area is definitely feeling that. I think temperature’s at time I were see was minus 2, in the past 24 hours. That’s good news for us.”

More than one thousand people have been ordered out of their homes. So far only 2 houses has been lost along with the handful of barns, but the smoke is affecting thousands more. In Calgary, Edmonton, as far east as Regina, smoke blinded the cities, leading the air quality advisories. Back in Lake Williams BC, only 8 kilometers from the huge fire, the smoke is also heavy.

“Well, pretty smoky.”

That smoke however isn’t stop children in William Lake from playing outside.

“This is being so smoky, you can’t even see that drive way.”

And concern is for those with lounge conditions or other illnesses. The hospital in Williams Lake closed most of its entrances to keep out the smoke and cancelled all elective procedures.

“I was going to get some blood work done.”

“What happened?”

“And they told me, wasn’t urgent. So to come back the next week, keep an eye on the weather.”

Fire official say with the cooler temperature and with no lighting in the forecast. They are optimistic, they can get better handle on the biggest fire threatening BC communities.
The winter Olympic may ahead months ago, but the social housing units that at the athletes village remain empty. As Tim Week reports, aviks say bureaucracy red tapes is keeping those who need a home out.

Rather than a chaotic scene of hassle and bustle, the athlete village is more like a ghost town. Giant birds are perched at the center, to the people who are flocking to these sweets. 252 units were satisied for with social housing half to be subsidized and half to be let out the market rental, there are all sitting empty. When critics say that people who need that housing now.

“Truly frustrating seeing was meant to be really a central piece of Olympic Legacy, not be treated in the way that it should be.”

The city social housing units are to be managed by a none profit group, but housing organization say they haven’t see any request for proposals. One of the reasons for that is the question mark of the rentals. For those sweets, one bedroom will cost $1600 a month, a two bedroom for $1900 a month, and a four bedroom are rent for almost $2400 a month. Those units are supposed to be offer to health care and public safety workers first. The city calls it a priority focus. But that priority focus is creating complications between the city of Vancouver and BC housing. And that is resulting delays.

“There needs to be a movement from both organizations. We can’t have bureaucracy’s pointing each other. Bureaucratic aren’t gonna answer anything.”

Another groups began to discussions with city 7 years ago concerning the Olympic social housing. Aviks say the original promise of 20% of the village units for low cost of housing will eventually went down to 5%, just by sometimes workers protest. So sweets are still empty, the city is current taking names for the market housing and created a waiting list for a subsidized housing. The city says the talks are on the way to the BC housing to resolve the delays.

Could lives have been saved if the polices has acted differently in the Robert Pickton case. That debate has bean again after the lifting of the publication ban late yesterday. The decision is allow us to review that information the jury did not hear. Information that somebody may find disturbing. Tim Weeks reports.

He’s convicted of killing 6 women, charge with murdering another 20 and police believe in total Robert Pickton may have killed 49 women. But one women has escaped him back in 1997. A protester has been taken to pickton’s farm, testified he handcrafted and tried to kill her. She’s lash picked, throw and broke free, stumbles towards the highway where she was picked up and taken to hospital. Pickton was charged with attempted murder, but the charge was later state.

“Do you know why this charge was state?”

“I can’t comment on that.”

Someone wonder what might have happened has the charge may have been pursuit.

“They could save many lives, many, many lives. This would been all over with a time ago, and I still have my sister here.”

Lillian beaudoin, sister of Diana Water one of the women pickton charge with killing. Pickton was also investigated in the killing of Jean Dell, the name give to the woman was found in Mission. And investigator was link saw marks on it to cuts on three other sketch on the pickton’s farm. Searchers later found Jane Dell’s raven heel bone at the farm, mix with piles of dirt, animal bones and remaining of other women. She would’ve been the 27th women pickton was charge with murdering, but the judge excluded the evidence link to pickton’s saw, police believe Jean Dell look like this. But who she is remains mystery. Well the trial is on, people could see pickton and Juries will show the odds of his home. His bed was leapt hand cut, there’s a horse on the wall. But soon video tape interview will be released what pickton tell police when asked about all the murder women that he plan to reach 50, but he got sloppy. Lillian Beaudoin thought all victim deserve of hearing a court, and none of the murder charge should be state.

“It is not fair for the families, and it is not fair for the victims.”

She says she wants the full public inquired, Primer Gordon Campbell says they’ll make a decision on that soon.

Well tributes to a much loved airdrie high school teacher are growing fast, Skye Mcgowan died in a weekend crash in terrace BC. That crash is surrounded in confusion, and that’s left many people who knew Skye Mcgowan is specially upset. The CBC’s Mary Katherine has the story.

There’s a lot of heart behind this class project. It started with one piece of Bristol board.

“When I first come to this school as a new student, he was kind of the one who was always in the haul way, always highfiving and saying hi, making sure you really feel welcome.”

That friendly teacher was 44 year old Skye Mcgowan or Mgow as some students called him.

“You believed when no one else dead, love and remember always.”

Those words could’ve also been written by Jordan Schaffland himself.

“A lot of times I feel like giving up and a lot of times I feel like, you know, why am I still here and has to be an importance of me being here, or I wouldn’t be here. So having been told not to give up, not just from anybody, but from a teacher who care so much.”

The false news that Mcgowan’s wife was also killed in the accident, started humming around Facebook and spread to at least one major newspaper.

“Finding out that it was in the news, that was the wrong information, a part just from Facebook, really make a lot of people upset.”

Reports also say Mcgowan’s son was driving the car. Christa Harriman called mutual friends to find out what happened.

“They said, no he was alone, his kids are young, they won’t driving him. His wife is alive, she’s been contacted with the teacher from the school here.”

A school students here say won’t be the same without Skye Mcgowan.

Things are going from bad to worse in British Columbia’s fire zone. It’s not just the growing number wild fires now around four hundreds, but get this, the water in rivers in southern BC is turning a murky black. Susana DA Silva’s site first hand. She joins us now from Lillooet.

Ina, many here in Lillooet say looks like something out of movie, a local river has turn black, likely cause by nearby forest fires and it caused a lot of concern. This is normally per steam blue water. So clean you can see every rock on the bottom.

“Oh, I’ve never seen a water like this before be in up here for 25 plus years.”

At 11 am, fisher man notice the water drastically changing color and pull there nets. Some noticing there were something wrong with the fish.

“Well, fish online and fish on net is struggling like crazy, but there are no struggle at all.”

This is an important tradition fishing area, for several unbridgenal communities.

“Well, my main concern is fire returned, it is possible be, but I like to verify myself.”

The worry is that today’s rain has cause toxic fire retarded and charge ground to run into the river. There are certainly a lot of that around, the jungle mountain fire covers more than 50 hundred hatra. Cruises are struggling to control it.

“Reach and confirm hot spot of black melting, all the area is about 50,000 feet inch off the main guard.”

But they aren’t easy to spot.

“Sometime you don’t even see the smoke occurred at that a time. There’ll be a little flys, flying around and that’s usually a sign of heat there. The bugs are hopping around the hot spots.”

Some relieve from arrived of the formal fire fighters from Alberta and Ontario. But now there’s another crisis to mending attention.

“There’s tons of fish, that’ll probably be, either been toxic poisoned or what I just don’t know.”

Fire officials are trying to confirm this is the result of run off from fires.
It began as a peaceful protest march now Vancouver’s pride parade has exploded into a huge event, drug people from all walks of the life. Debra Gobal reports.

“Happy parade, it’s for everybody.”
“Pride means to be proud of exactly who you are and not trying to fit in a cookie cut mode.”
If you didn’t like lighten displays of the gay life style, Vancouver probably not the place to be Sunday afternoon. But if you were a little boy with 2 dads, it was the perfect place.
“This is Daddy.”
“This is Richard.”
Devon Rameriz Ling knows what’s to live in an untraditional family.
“It’s OK with me, but probably not sometime.”
“You know he is just 7 year old kid, but he has two dads as a gay and you know it’s just much part of who he is as the part of us.”
“Today is very special day for the parade.”
Specially, because this is all about acceptance.
“Happy parade!”
“It doesn’t need to recognize everybody wants to celebrate different ways our life and our city. That’s what gives our city the vibrancy.”
Back when this parade started with more of march to pickup their right. Now is for celebration.
“The best part is just total acceptance for everybody.”
“Being this year is liberation.”
“Let the hard thing coming out, and to see all these people who are just here, don’t really care. Hanging out and celebrating, it’s good.”
And more than a half million people have come and to do just that.
“I hope they feel believe and learn that people are all the same and that you know about inclusivity and about human rights.”
“Of course, it’s a family thing, you know, why not?”
It doesn’t’ really matter what kind of family you come from. For one little boy that is the best part.
“It was awesome.”

Parents looking for a childcare were often use recommendations from friends or people they meet on the play ground. Well, wouldn’t it be more efficient to gather those information on a website. That’s why one Vancouver mom decided to do. Theresa Lalonde has that story.

When Karen Yong Chester started to looking for daycare, she went online and was surprised at the lack of information.

“Besides the family and their friends, the school and the daycare is gonna be the most important influence on their lives.”

Chester reacted to the lack of information by creating her own website. The aim of this website is to take the chatting between parents on the play ground and the recreation center online. Theshortylist will offer the information on childcare, the number of children in daycares, teacher child ratio, for school, test scores, satisfaction surveys and other public data. The most important thing for Chester will be the parent input.

“And five them more new wants to description of the schools and daycares their children are going to.”

“When I moving to Canada, that wasn’t in my, who were something I thought I was gonna be struggling that much about daycare.”

“Prenon experience is one of the best way to figure out what parts doesn’t work.”

“It’s good for other parents to know what kinds of condition in daycares, because it’s hard to even find a spot to put your kids into a daycare.”

Critics say daycares and schools shouldn’t be reviewed like a restaurant, where parents can pick them apart.

“I think that the childcare is much more important than a plate of pasta. It far important to rely on an anonymous posting on a website.”

Chester says theshortylist won’t be a ranking site, there’ll be no stars given, just information and comment, so parents feel less glandered and anxious when making their choice. She says similar site exist in UK and US.

Couple of Vancouver entrepreneurs are feeling the power of the internet tonight. Sales of their luggage stickers are brisk, and here’s the weird part, the stickers were almost certainly get you question by airport security. Alan waterman explains.

When it comes to luggage, stickers have long created NV about places travelled. But Ryan Mccormick and Colin Hart come up with the serious stickers to get your bags unwanted attention. Well may looked like a wrapped open cases, seemingly revealing bags of cocaine or bundles of US bills are just photographs. The stickers were launched on their website just ten days ago, but the products has become the buzz of the internet. Sales of the shot into the thousands.

“It’s too large here in Vancouver just comes up some ideas, some one put on our website, takes us like two days to do that and suddenly you know we get a million visit on our website.

“We never, ever, ever thought of them, that it would take off like this.”

“We got sixty visitors yesterday from Kasicstan, I’ve no idea why.”

Just a bit fun, but would anyone actually be brave enough to take them into the airport?

“That’ll be a red flag. It’ll be my opinion.”

“I don’t think I properly get through security. I don’t know.”

“Not a bad idea.”

“Not a bad idea, which is real.”

“Ask those securities.”

But Ottawa doesn’t want anyone messing with security. A spokesman for transport minister John Baird states: Joking about potentially trafficking illegal substances, or worse, is not funny, and the government will use the full force of the law to ensure Canadians who travel by air are safe.”

But the company figures they are on safe legal browns.

“The three of us just been dined and bought the DVD box set of element be and a long order so we preparing a statement this afternoon.”

But also in a society, the company has a serious message for buyers.

“It’s not meant to be brought through security. Let’s be honest this’ll become sad if you want to do that.”

And surfer the rest of the security officials to see nothing laughfulable in these luggage stickers.

Well the debate continues in the nation’s Capital. We’re getting the first peak at the next year census. The national’s Duncan Mccue has a copy. Duncan.

Peter, some of those long form census questions may seems odd, perhaps intrusive. But turns out they do serve a purpose for municipal powerty, schools even health clinics. Here’s surprising medical news, scraping the long form censuses maybe has this to your health. That’s according to Vancouver’s chief medical officer.

“Because we use the data that collected with the census form to help plus plan programe to improve the health of the population.”

Health researchers take statistics about income, education and employment to built what they called adeprovation index. That allows them to target neighborhood, particularly low income one with proper health programmer. In Vancouver long form census data was resulted in school fitness classes or community gardens. Specially in poor neighborhoods where volunteer survey are less likely to be filled out.

“This question is about need many repairs, some people find that to be intrusive perhaps.”

“They may not realize housing is an important determine to health of the population and the individual of the population.”

“This will be a downloading of the cost to the city.”

City of Vancouver is also asking Ottawa to restate the long form census.”

“In favor of the motion and opposed that carries anomalously.”

The worry form city hall, Ottawa’s downloading cost to municipal tax payers for what the direct of city planning see as a critical information.

“Just about the everything reduced. Starts with census date, starts with good information and then we use that to make policy or good specific decision.”

Without it, municipality may have to pay for surveys to decide where to built community centers or ice rings or plan location for bike lanes and route for public transportation.

“Question 48, what time does this person usually leave home to go to work.”

“Oh, great example, because by knowing when people leave to go to work. We can plan our transportation system around, off peak trips.”

The Vancouver board of trade is also opposing Ottawa’s move to cut the long form. It says small business will surfer such as restaurants or plumbing stores, if they have to pay for information what now collected in the census.

Well bad news, Bob Nixon fans, we’ve seen the last Bob Nixon for a while. Every Sunday night at this time he files one of his cookie stories. Well now he is taking a year off and this is his final report.

So this is my last day at work. Go on vocation for a year. Don’t feel like working that hard. I wonder if other people who go on holidays feel this way. What better place to Canver’s opinion than this Stanley park totem poles. Almost everyone is on vocation. People come from all over.

“I don’t know how to send you an equation.”

Then there are some people who are retired. Others are school teachers. Their last day was slack. And some are just waiting for the US recession to end.

“I actually haven’t work for 7 month and so it’s taking a vacation from vacation. I don’t have to work very hard.”

But if they have a job, chances are on the last day of work they worked.

“Yes, I was so far an account, I was filing myclel and dropping jewery off for people. So, yes.”

“Yes, did I suppose to say my last day I took off, the day before that I worked my normal pace.”

And some people worked even on their vocation. But only one admitted that last day of work drags.

“But I did couple hours of work before we left. The day before I left, then I read a book and then I lay down and then, not a big worker.”

So the concerns are seems be that work is work, play is play and never the twin should meet. That’s how what happen with me today, I got nothing done.

(米饭：It's intesting to see how she responded when was asked "will you do it again?")

She stepped in to help a woman who was been assaulted by thieves. And that heroic action left her with serious injury herself. Meera Bains has that story.
Benita Anderson needed 8 staplers to her head when she try to help during a violent purse snatching. Today she’s been praised as a hero by the North Vancouver RCMP. Last Saturday mock beginning as a serious violence robbery. The first victim was the 74 year woman at a bus stop near marine drive in Capilano road. She ended up with a broken leg. The Female punched her twice on her face, knocking her to the ground and the male stolen her purse and run off. And two days later at marine drive and hambelton another woman was attacked. She was punched in the face by a female suspect, while a man try to steal her purse and then just moments later another attempted robbery. And it was during the third attack that Anderson decided to step in.
“I did hear some screaming and I came from behind the car and saw her tussling with somebody and then almost immediately pushed to the ground and they were kicking at her. And she was clenching her purse and there was a knot occasion over this purse which I guess this purse was still attached to her shoulder.”
She was slammed by a heavy bag containing which she says sound like food cans. When the couple took off, Anderson ran into the street for help. She was heavily bleeding from the head. A day later, investigators arrested the two people.
“Very quickly able to identify who was responsible for this and get them into the custody the following day.”
And would Anderson do it again?
“Their intention was to hurt both of us, quite badly they have no respect regard, but I, I don’t know what I was thinking. I’m not sure if I’ll do it again, oh, I would.”
27 years old, justin paltry and 36 year old, tammy condor are charged with assault and robbery. The appeal court is on Monday.

When the closing stages of the tour de France, some 350km’s of challenging to rain is ahead until Ryder cycle down the home stretch of the Sarkozy. And Victoria’s rider Hesjedal will be among those in the front pack chasing the yellow jersey. We’ve been following him through out the race. And Alan Waterman has this update.

“That was great performance by Hesjedal by four filled coming up to the finish line.”

Fourth place for one of the toughest stages in the tour de France. Now eight over all.

“It’s unreal, I mean, I feel good in the last part and just gave it everything.”

Ryder Hesjedal is throwing cycling fans with his cline through the rain in cycling most strategist event. His biking buddies gathering the local cycling shop for the last 17 days following their pilot in the orient chaman.

“On the edge of my seat, I loose my voice cause I screamed and feels really good to, you know, to know he is doing that well and everyone else cheer him on.”

Today the leaders rolled in just one minute and 27 seconds ahead of Hesjedal. Over all he is little more than over 9 minutes behind the top spot. And that’s saying something for someone from Canada. Country wide cyclists don’t exactly have the same development opportunities as their European counter parts.

“We were true new beats.”

Alex Stieda was the first north America to wear the yellow jersey when he headed the tour de France in 1986 as for Ryder Hesjedal in 2010.

“To do what he’s done with limited development as he had as a teenager is huge. No question about it.”

But the man who took over hesjedal’s development in his 20’s is not surprised.

“Because he had it, he’s just fond the opportunity to show what he got.”

“I feel really good. I feel like I can get stronger. So, you know, few more days and we’ll be real happy in Paris.”

A conservation officials on the other side of the country, on B.C. are searching for a young black bear on Vancouver Island. This animal attacked two men who were camping at the west end of Sproat Lake near Port Alberni. One of the survivors spoke with our Alan Waterman said he feels very lucky to be alive after all deal.

“He was in tent. I was a goner.”

Jay Vinden figures he is pretty lucky he and his fishing buddy spend its last four days in a remote camp about an hour west to Port Alberni. They see a young black bear nearby a couple of dozen times. Early Wednesday morning they saw the bear again.

“Hearing a snore and I was six inches face to face with a yelling black bear. The same bear. He took about two seconds to size me up and launch to my mid section, got me there and got me in my knee and then flipped me over with one hand like a pancake. And went for my head.”

The bear swept the patch of Vinden ‘s scale about 12 by 18 centimeters. And also clawed and chopped on his mid section before his partner Bruise Dodio distracted the bear. The bear started to attack Bruise. By that time, I got my life and went move to the snuff and way he went.”

Vinden was transported to Nanaimo Hospital, doctors are looking a possible plastic surgery. Dodio escaped to scratches. Back in the bush, conservation officers began track in the bear. Once located, it will be destroyed.

“For limit area, finding and suggesting that it’s a, it’s acting a predatory, none defensive, kind of behavior.”

The idea that the bear will be shot.

“That sad with me.”

“Why is that?”

The animal do what he does naturedly, has sense of doing for 40 million years. I was in history.”

Police say there are some lessons to be learned here.

“Know what to do and if you know there are wild life in the area, perhaps you should consider camping elsewhere.”

Despite of loss of scale and his prized pony tail, Jay Vinden says he’s not deterred, he’ll be back in the bush as soon as possible.

BC lottery corporation is admitting today to a privacy breach that shutdown its online gaming site. Alan waterman has our top story tonight. Alan.

Tony, BC lottery corporation is under fire tonight with questions over that security breach cause by a online overload and that’s the only problem.

When BC lottery corporation went live with north America’s first online casino gambling site, its’ target was 100 million dollars of the online pie. But with the hours of the sites launch last Thursday, it was shutdown. The corporation admits a 134 accounts were compromise and a dozens people personal information was viewed from bank accounts to credit cards.

“There wasn’t just name and address, there was other information on the sites, such as password, security questions.”

BC’s privacy commissions wants customer credit reports monitored and she’s looking forward assurance from BCLC that all is fixed before the sites goes back online. Several IT computer experts think the sites was actually hacked or swamp by a competitor. BC lottery insist that isn’t the case.

“There has been none of that happen on the site, it is strictly volume.”

This criminal knowledge professor specializes the gambling issues and he has his doubts.

“It ‘s also the fair question to be asked whether or not this is a gadget that hasn’t been explored by online hackers.”

But the privacy breach is not the only problem facing BCLC, it’s also been fined by a federal watch doc. Under federal law all casino transactions greater than ten thousand must be reported as a save guard against money launching by criminals and territories organizations. The agency has just levied and fined $670,000 against BCLC. Corporations says the problem are clerical and software system that couldn’t communicate properly with the watch doc.

“Rather than going to another jurisdiction and using their system, we had the investment been made, we just need to walk through this and get the results in place.”

BC opposition politicians think a deeper look is needed.

“They’re now all issues seem to be compounding themselves about whether in fact this lottery corporation as working the way British Columbia expected to.”

So far it seems no signs of illegal transactions, but one customers of the online site contacted the CBC complaining that their BCLC account is now frozen and they can’t access the money to pay the bills.

The BC lottery corporation has not yet revived its online gaming site, and still doesn’t want talk about it. So what’s behind the shutdown? Theresa Lalonde reports.

If you’re looking to use BC lottery’s new online Casino, it’s still not in the cards. The site crashed just hours after last Thursday’s opening. BCLC claims higher than expected volume is to blame. Computer experts say this has the signs about bottle neck, a virus that lays the door into your computer, and hundred others like it, until a hacker decides to activate, sending a mass load of information to a target. You won’t know its there and you’ll still be able to use the computer.

“So you boat your arm, not to go off the gambling website like this, might be, and then you say look, you either pay us ex amount of, ten of thousands, hundreds of thousands dollars, so we shut Q down.”

You won’t know if your computer is been used by hackers this way, but there are things you can do to decrease the risk. Ignore email from someone you don’t know, install anti-virus, anti-spam software and put a firewall in place update that software regularly and the most important thing, shut down your computer when not in use. The BCLC said in an email there’s no evidence of hacking, but whether it’s a virus or volume. Vincalek believe they launched the site without being ready.

“It’s hard to imagine that after all the development which I assume they put in, after all the test thing which I assume they put in, few hours later they would go down.”

It appears that BCLC know it need help with their content, this notice seeking a web manager closes Tuesday afternoon. They request for propose was posted at the end of June.

It is an amazing rescue story from British Columbia, earlier this week when a grass fire ravaged an area near peach land. RCMP officers rushed to get people out of their homes. And today those officers met up again with one of the women they saved. Alan Waterman picks up the story.
“They saved my life.”
Ann Colons is referring to Ryan Routely and Greg Barnhard, two RCMP constables who hold her out of the passable fire. What was a quiet hide way on Okanagan Lake became the frontline to a funeral, one house was burned the ground and Colon’s home came with the meters of the flames. Routely and Barnhard drove through the smoke to rescue residents. They broke down one door and found Colons was asleep on the sofa. Bu the fire then block the road out and the road SUV was sooning gloved.
“The decision was made we would take Ann and we would carry her down the bank. She didn’t like that idea, she said no. I’m gonna walk and pretty much told that she told us which route we should take.”
Colon says she was never scared.
“I was really excited, really excited, you’ll never can imagine how excited I was.”
A boat picked up the three of them, took them to the safety nearby peach land. And Colons’ home was spared, only the garage was lost.
“Fortunately, happy that everything turned out the way it did.”
Fittingly Colon’s family presented the tow officers with superman gift bags and inside is braved outdoor’s man’s knives.
“Oh, they’re my everyday hero, they were so good to me, they lived me, Oh, everything else.”

Every year thousands of people line up to get a peek at the PNE’s prize home. And they’ll get their chance tomorrow when the door is open to the public. But it seems not everyone got the memo. Box Nixon explains.

This is the day the PNE unbuilt its prize home to the media. And as usual, it is one fancy setup dates. But Alma Lenko, Arnold Baitz wanted to see for themselves. Not realizing the home only opens to the public on Friday. But how can you say no to a 93 years old and her 89 years old boy friend who currently living in a Coquitlam trailer park. I couldn’t. Neither could project manager, Barbra Elsword. They do not move as well as they used to. Arnold lost the leg to cancel 25 years ago, Alma got her cane. But given a private tour, they wanted to see it all. They inspected the wine seller, looked in on the media room, head up stairs to bedrooms and they love it all.

“I don’t want to go anywhere, if I have this home, I just want to stay at home, pinch myself everyday.”

I should told that Arnold and Alma have been buy prize tickets for decades, Arnold, this will be his 60th year and you know what he’s never won. But Arnold’s already thinking about moving to Kerolwa, with this 1.2m dollars home. Well enjoy view and Okanagan Lake.

“When I have, I will scroll it through until opening it. And turn the light off and on, and traversing.”

The chances of winning: very small. But at least they can dream the dream.

“See I can’t relate to the people with wealth live, you know, cuz I just lives as plant hunt wife, but I’ve been bless to opposes good seeks, but nothing like this.”

And who knows maybe this year, will be the one.

Bob Nixon’s found someone selling a traditional Canadian snack. It’s from back East and is usually a sign that spring is on the way.

It is mid July and crops are coming in to the main street farmers’ market, fresh vegetables, raspberries and blueberries, but then there’s Patrick Demers whose crop was harvest back to March.

“Traditionally find them at the farmer stores at the Québec, all sugar snacks.”

Yes, that all Canadian staple maple sugar from maple trees backing in Ontario and Québec. But Demers is bringing a bit of experience to BC.

“So what we have here is maple syrups boiled to soft frostage, what BC school kid has not heard tales of those lucky east nurse who pull the serve into this spring snow for a taste treat. Eva Kapsik sure has, she’s been here before.

“What it’s taste like?”

“Like heaven’s.”

So with the practice ten, Kapsik rolls up the maple truffle on to her stick. Trust me, it is fascinating to watch.

“It’s cool, because first of all usually do this in snow winter, you know, Canada all over the place. It’s cool you can do it in the middle summer in Vancouver when you don’t get snow.”

Where did you get the now?

It all depends who is asking. You know certain kids, tell them I’m a driver, and the other kids, ask for more, especially, I tell them I climb the mountain and get them on the way.

As Kapsik the moment she’s been waiting for.

And parents take no, little kids like it too, even never have heard of this Canadian tradition.
