It was simply a moment that I thought was cute, and a memory that I felt deserved to be captured. While it wasn’t something that would appeal to the general masses, aside from our family, it was a moment in time that I wanted to preserve and be able to look back on.

This photo was simply an outtake. Gabrielle noticed the camera on her and decided to get up close and personal with the lens and say “cheese”. But I loved it, so it was definitely a keeper. Again, a moment in time of our girl growing up.

After it was posted online, a friend suggested that next time I take out her “binky” before taking the shot. My response?

“Taking out her binky would have been altering the moment, and not capturing the true memory.”

So, what are your thoughts? Are you one that captures memories, even though they might not be “technically perfect”? Would you have altered the memory?

Here are the other shots I was capturing that night. Again, not the “best” technical shots (high ISO and noice due to shooting at 2500-3200 ISO), but they mean a lot to me. And that is why I love the “family photojournalist” style. Perfection is capturing the moment.

With the big skies and great clouds we had today, I just had to wander some at lunch and take advantage of it. Of course in my hurry to get out there, I forgot to grab my tripod. This is a 5 exposure HDR shot handheld, and I was actually happy with how well it came out.

Hoping for some big skies tomorrow (and that the rain holds out) so I can hit the cemetery.
