Had a most wonderful afternoon with Kate and Adam walking around the beautiful town of St. Andrews. They are an absolutely lovely couple and I had a great time photographing them and getting to know them a bit.  Can’t wait for their August wedding back in St. Andrews!

Samta and I met up a few months ago to discuss their upcoming wedding and we had a great time chatting.  Antonios was unable to meet up at this time as he works in Manchester at the moment.  Antonios like my girlfriend Anna is Greek.  Since they weren’t there and Samta and I had both experienced the Greek culture as outsiders we had a great time swapping stories.  Both of us loved Greece and the passion of the people.  I speak a little Greek and I was really excited to photograph a Greeks in a wedding environment.  When I arrived at Samta’s flat in was quite amazing because though there was a bit of stress in getting ready her side of the family was calm, collected and reserved.  I absolutely love getting ready shots.  I love catching the mood and I love getting elegant shots of the bride before her hair and makeup are done.  Samta warned me when I headed over to Antonios that it was a little bit crazy over there.  I hoped so, I love a good frenzy.  When I got there though everyone was sitting and it was rather quiet.  I spoke a little Greek to greet everyone and I was delighted to find how happy they were with the little greek I spoke.  I asked Antonios if I could get a few shots of him getting ready.   It was around this time the Greece I know and love came alive.  There was this fantastic buzz in the flat and all of a sudden it was alive and everyone was talking and laughing and having a great time.  At some point I took some video because the photographs simply weren’t doing justice to the amount of activity in the flat.  Many were still speaking to me in Greek which was make it increasingly hard to capture moments while at the same time be courteous to the Greeks.  Soon I had to get back to Samta, and I had to say goodbye to the Greeks for a little while.  I went back to Samta’s and she was in her dress and looked gorgeous.  I took a few more of Samta and we headed to Prestonfield House.  The venue itself is stunning and to describe in one word: red.  I love love love red.  I knew Samta loved it as well as she asked for a red wedding album so I figured I had been given a green light (or perhaps red?) to take lots of red photographs.  The wedding took a little while to start as the flowers were a bit late in arriving.  None to worry no wedding ever goes perfectly to plan.  I loved her vibrant bouquet!  The wedding itself was an intimate ceremony for family and friends.  And it was adorable!  Samta and Antonios kept staring glances at each other and there were barely any dry eyes in the whole room.  I love small intimate weddings because the bride and groom get to spend quality time with the most important people in their lives rather than going around and simply having time to thank everyone for coming.  The rest of the day continued in the same beautiful way the rest of it had and I’ve rarely seen two families interact so much and in such a wonderful way .  It was especially lovely seeing families from completely different sides of the globe (Greece & India) really enjoying one another despite some language barriers.  I had a delightful time as the wedding photographer of Samta & Antonios at the Prestonfield House in Edinburgh.

Had a lovely day with Geraldine + Jonathan at the Glasgow Museum of Modern Art.  As a UK engagement photographer I absolutely loved the museum because its offered really unique lighting and backgrounds.  The couple made it easy as well as they provided beautiful interactions and thus the moments were never lacking.  We even went to the top floor to the kids art room.  I saw some lovely light up their and in order to take photographs they asked that we add some art to their collection.  Both of them were happy to oblige and after we all made our little buildings we got to take a few more photographs.  Had a lovely few hours in a really fantastic place and was quite pleased with the results.

I had the pleasure of traveling to Traquair House in the Scottish Borders for the destination wedding of the gorgeous Olga & Roman. This was a slightly unusual wedding in that they were actually married in Russia amongst their family and friends a month earlier in Moscow. They were to travel around the UK and Ireland on their honeymoon and decided they wanted another wedding in Scotland for just the two of them. I was really excited that they had asked me to photograph their wedding as they were really enthusiastic about my photographs. I take such pride in being a destination wedding photographer and I love meeting couples that are excited about my passion. The couple was adorable because even though they had been married a month earlier they were getting quite nervous prior to the wedding which I loved. The humanist wedding ceremony was beautiful and was filled with laughter and tears. Afterwards we took couples photographs and they gave me a few hours with complete freedom to be creative and was able to get some fantastic photographs. The couple made were really easy to photograph as they were full of their love and affection for one another. Truly the pleasure was mine.

I met Verity and Alex by luck.  I had helped out a friend (Hamish) of a friend (James) by taking some free photographs in an attempt to help him become president of the University of Edinburgh’s student association.  Unfortunately James didn’t win, though he did actually win the following year.  James was kind of enough to recommend me to Verity and Alex who were searching for a wedding photographer.  We met up and I knew I liked them immediately.  They were fun, laid back, and clearly in love.  I had the absolute joy of photographing the wedding of Verity and Alex at Hopetoun House in July.  Without a doubt one of the most enjoyable weddings I’ve ever been a part of.  I was with them about 14 hours that day and I must say there was never a single dull moment.  An delightfully kind and sweet couple who are very much in love.  These two simply new how to have fun.  They had the secret to a successful wedding.  As far as I could tell they had a blast!!!  Whenever I see the bride and groom having a great time their stature as mini celebrities for the day seems to carry over to all fo their guests.  I was really pleased with both the quality and quantity of the photographs which for the large part I can credit the delightfully happy and gorgeous bride & groom, and as well as their fabulous guests.  Everyone was having fun and I wanted to photograph everyone at once.  The staff at Hopetoun House were top notch and every part of the wedding went perfectly according to plan.  The wedding itself lead to many guests with teary eyes in the room.  After the congratulatory hugs and group photographs there was a lovely time to relax and enjoy the beautiful day and its lovely weather which included a stunning rainbow.  The evening meal delicious and the speeches left everyone laughing and holding their sides.  I loved the story of how Alex and Verity met.  They were in class together and Alex accidentally spilled his coffee on the girl next to him because he had his eyes on Verity.  That’s one unique way to get a girls attention.  The dance floor was a lively one and their was always some energy on the dance floor.  I especially loved all the dancing Verity did with her family.  The last dance was again a memorable one with all the guests surrounding the bride and groom.  The most difficult part about the wedding photography was trying to decide which photographs to feature on the blog.  I hope you enjoy my selection.

I met Jane and Peter in July of last year.  I’m not a salesman.  I don’t try to sell anything to anyone.  I don’t pressure, I welcome them to compare my work to other photographers, if they love my work I figure they will book me.  Essentially all I try to show people is that I’m passionate about capturing memories and telling their story in the happiest, most romantic and most beautiful way possible.  I must admit I found Peter a bit difficult to read at first.  Peter was listening intently about everything I had to say.  While I talk I like to throw in a few jokes now and then just to let people get to know my personality a bit.  My job relies on me reading body language, every moment I do my best to predict.  He didn’t smile at all for probably the first 20 minutes, and though I’m usually quite confident but I must admit I started to feel a bit nervous.  I find most couples who go to the trouble of meeting up with me end up booking me but I was having serious doubts.  I learned I need to become a better listener.   When I finally stopped talking Peter started and he had a huge smile on this face and was complimenting how obvious my passion for my work was.  We talked about their venue and again I loved seeing Peter’s enthusiasm.  Peter wasn’t your typical groom and absolutely loved the House for an Art Lover.  The house was designed by Charles Rennie Mackintosh an amazing architect considered to be cornerstone of Art Nouveau in the UK.   The building itself was designed by Mackintosh but built as tribute to him by the city of Glasgow after he passed.   We talked a bit more about them and I absolutely loved that they met online.  Peter has worked as a software engineer his entire career and it seemed truly fitting that a computer should lead him to his love.  I took a few quick photographs of them the day we met and loved watching them interact with each other.  They were amazing at making each other smile.  As it always happens the time in between passes so quickly and the wedding day was upon us.  Jane got ready at the Grand Central Hotel in Glasgow and the room staircase and outside gave wonderful surroundings for photography.  I never plan weddings photographs out too much in advance.  I’ve tried this method in the past and usually some part of the wedding takes too long, or the weather doesn’t cooperate, but something stops the amazing photograph I have planned.  What I do instead is take note of my surroundings and the light and then I make predictions about what will happen in the next 5-10 minutes.   I’m constantly reevaluating and constantly adapting to what is actually happening.  I think by overplanning you can really miss out on all the wonderful spontaneous moments that happen on their own at each and every wedding.  Moments you could never predict or direct.  The bride looked stunning and after a few getting ready shots we were well on our way.  Thought we got some lovely shots and quickly moved on to the House for an Art Lover.  The days themselves pass in a blur and this was no different.  The wedding was an adorable humanist ceremony.  Outside we took some group photographs as well as couples portraits and the wedding breakfast.  On to the speeches which are always thoroughly enjoyable for me.  After small break they were dancing the night away.  I had a wonderful time with a wonderful couple.

The wedding of Laura and Dave at Solsgirth House was a uk wedding photographers dream despite the rainy weather.  People often worry too much about the weather on their wedding day.  Neither the bride or groom seemed to mind in the slightest.  Their positive attitude towards the rain ensured everyone had a wonderful time.  It started off with Dave at Airth Castle where the groom was having a fantastic time with his groomsmen.  I find the people who are difficult to photograph are those who are nervous and end up trying to hard.  Dave and his mates were relaxed and easy to photograph.  Once ready we headed to Solsgirth House and stopped off along the way to put in a few signs for guests.  I love capturing all these little moments that help tell the story of a couples wedding day.  The beautiful bride Laura is a interior designer and her attention to detail along with design aesthetics were highly apparent in her wedding details.  Everything was perfectly coordinated from the the flowers to the invites.  It was absolutely flawless and had a beautiful theme.  The couple, their bridesmaids, groomsman, families and guests were all fun loving and really easy to photograph.  I had a fantastic day photographing their wedding and was quite pleased with the results.  

When Carol and Jonathan initially booked me I was flattered they chose me as their photographer as they said photography was a priority.  I was fortunate enough to photograph their wedding on a beautiful and windy day on June 14th.  I say fortunate because it was truly wonderful to be a part of their special day.  They were a delightfully happy couple who put on an absolutely amazing wedding.  The bride and groom were really impressive because they did DIY on everything but the dress and photographer (I must admit it would be challenging to photograph your own wedding).  It was a small and intimate wedding with only close friend and family at one of the most beautiful locations I have ever seen.  The wedding was at Ravensheugh Log Cabin which overlooks the North Sea in Southeastern Scotland.  The bride and groom made everything including: bouquet, flower arrangements, party favors, decorations, food, drinks, candy trees, music, and cake.  To me what makes the wedding isn’t the venue, or the dress, or the shoes(sorry ladies), the flowers or anything physical.  The most important thing a bride and groom can do for their guests is to simply have the time of their lives.  Every bride and groom is a bit of a celebrity on their big day and when they have a great time, everyone has a great time.  Carol and Jonathan did exactly that and I loved being their wedding photographer every minute of it!
