Before I begin I'd like to apologize for the late posts and staggered updates. I haven't been home (in Laguna) since December so I'm opening some of the Christmas packages just now. But if I'm being honest, the haircare isn't really my favorite part of the box and nor is the makeup. I'm actually more excited about the skincare products. Review: L'Oreal True Match Liquid Foundation

With the sheer number of foundations available in the market, it's kinda hard to keep track with new releases; let alone distinguish one from all the others. So to narrow down my go-to drugstore foundations, I have a short list of brands that I truly trust - brands that hardly go wrong when coming up with new foundation formulations. I only have 5 or 6 drugstore brands that I genuinely love and one of them is L'Oreal, of course. No shock there!

Product Description:

From the world leader in beauty, L’Oréal Makeup Designer/Paris introduces the world’s number one foundation, now made even better. With its innovative micro-matching technology, the True Match perfectly matches skin tone and texture at a micro-level, so that every woman can have her own shade, her one True Match.

Patterned after the crowd favorite, L'Oreal True Match Liquid Foundation comes in a new and improved formulation. If you can remember, L'Oreal used to sell the True Match in a irregularly-shaped bottle with a gold pump. I liked that, too, but I find it quite bulky to lug around. The recently-launched L'Oreal True Match Liquid Foundation, however, is contained in a sleek, rectangular glass bottle with a nice silver pump. Both the former and the later has the same name so I guess it's important to be aware of the difference in the packaging to be able to tell them apart.

One thing I'm particular about when it comes to foundations is their scent. I can tolerate subtle fragrance in skincare or even lipsticks in some cases, but not with foundation. It irks me how most drugstore brands smell like latex.. thankfully, I haven't encountered anything similar to that when it comes to L'Oreal foundations.

For a foundation that offers light to medium coverage, L'Oreal True Match Liquid Foundation is on the watery side. It applies and blends effortlessly. It goes on light at first but it is very buildable. And it feels light on the face, too! I appreciate how it doesn't feel like I'm wearing a mask no matter how much I pile on. To be clear though, I've never tried more than 2-3 layers. :) It may be applied in a number of ways but I prefer using my egg sponge for this.

True Match comes in 15 shades that match Filipina complexions – from fair, medium, to morena skin tones. But it goes to the next level by considering undertones – warm, neutral, or cool. With the help of the PRO makeup artist during the L'Oreal True Match event, I got the shade 'G4 Gold Beige' and to be honest, of all the foundations I currently own, this shade is the best match for my skintone. I mean seriously, you can hardly see where the bare skin ends and the foundation begins in person.

By the way, just a tip I got from reading tons of makeup books, if you're looking for a foundation, don't swatch it on your hand; more often than not, your hand is not the same shade as your face. Do a swatch test on your jaw to match your face AND neck instead. :)

L'Oreal True Match Liquid Foundation effectively evens out my skin, covers minor flaws and leaves a radiant semi-matte finish. Nowadays, I rarely use concealer when I wear foundation and the coverage this offers is just right for office days.

When properly set with powder, the L'Oreal True Match Liquid Foundation stays on for 6-8 hours without retouch but given the slightly dewy finish, it has the tendency to oily up after a few hours. For your reference, I have combination-oily skin. That said, I need to blot and powder retouch after the 6th/7th hour to prevent my face from looking oily. Those with severely oily skin would probably have to blot and retouch every 4-5 hours.

But taking everything else into consideration, the L'Oreal True Match Liquid Foundation is definitely one of the best drugstore foundations I've used. I've been recommending this to my personal friends ever since I started using this. Haha. If you have dry or normal skintype, I'm sure you'll love the new formula of the L'Oreal True Match Liquid Foundation.

Review: SM Mobile App, Shopping Made Even Easier

As an online shopping enthusiast, I usually spend hours browsing online sites. Although online shopping has been a great venue for easy shopping, it has its limitations. We can’t ignore its advantages, but then again, there are some things that are better purchased in the flesh - especially clothes. With the new SM Mobile App, I can go malling and shopping at ease. This mobile application, in essence, is not an online shopping service. Instead it offers convenience when we shop in malls.

I know I’m not the only one who’s experience this; I mean, going to a mall only to find out that the brand/store I’m looking for is no longer in that mall so I end up going to several malls just to look for a certain product. Mall-hopping sounds like a lot of fun, right? Well, it would’ve been so if not for the inescapable hassle of the Metro Manila traffic.

One of the many features of the new SM Supermalls Mobile App is the ability to locate the nearest SM Mall to you with the mall map function; with estimated distance nonetheless. Not only that but it can actually display the stores and brands in each mall so you wouldn’t have to skip malls in search of a particular brand. To make it even easier for us shoppers, the app not only gives us the exact location of the store but actually gives us directions going there. Like the big screen directory in malls right on the palm of your hands!

Another thing about the the SM Supermalls Mobile app, you can easily check the cinema schedules, reserve seats and buy movie tickets. The user-friendly interface allows me to easily browse the cinema schedule for different SM Malls. What’s even more impressive is the Instagram-like layout for the homepage where I can browse through different posts such as sales, cinema schedules and even exclusive promo/coupon codes from partner stores. Talk about convenience and savings!

Other features include knowing the hottest deals in fashion and food, locating shops, restos and services, and finding your way to the nearest SM mall to redeem your mobile coupons. And oh, here's a cool feature; never again will you forget where you parked using the Parking Locator! HAHA.

Overall, I like the simple, easy-to-navigate layout of the application. I like how every tabs are straight to the point and without much kaartehan. Anyone can easily navigate through the app and learn your way around it in less than 5 minutes. The layout looks clean but in-keeping with the color theme for which SM is known for; and not too crowded. It kept all the buttons/tabs on a minimal but the functionality in full blast. It covers the basics plus a little more.

It’s not a necessity given that we can always just Google anything; but then again, having the new SM Mobile App ready to go on your gadget makes everything that much easier. Don’t worry, you can download it for FREE at Apple App Store and Google Play Store.

Review: L'Oreal RevitaLift Magic Blur

The blur creams are catching on! I've read a lot of international bloggers rave about blur cream and I was wondering when it'll hit mainstream here. And in the past few months, I believe more than 5 blur creams have made it to my 'to review' blogging desk. One of the products on the top of my list is the L'Oreal RevitaLift Magic Blur which I've been eyeing since it came out earlier this year. I was so tempted to buy one, though still opted not to since I have tons more to try.

Talk about perfect timing. Just as I emptied my morning go-to moisturizer, I was invited to Watsons Triple Bonus Blogger Shopping Day a few months back. Surprise, surprise! First thing that went into my shopping basket was this L'Oreal RevitaLift Magic Blur, of course. *wink!

L'Oreal RevitaLift Magic Blur. L'Oreal Laboratories have fused powerful anti-ageing active ingredients with blurring polymers inside a moisturiser to reduce the appearance of lines, pores and wrinkles. This lightweight anti-ageing formula moisturises intensely. It has an instant blurring effect and fights the signs of ageing over time.

L'Oreal RevitaLift Magic Blur is housed in a hefty red glass jar. The packaging looks high-end and, without a doubt, it really is beautifully chic considering that it is a drugstore brand. I love the packaging however, I don't see myself bringing this to out-of-town trips no matter how much I like the actual product. The packaging is very bulky and heavy. I suggest buying one of those small containers from Muji and just transfer some of the product using a spatula.

This is truly a multifunctional product. Blur Cream: It contains Opti-Blur Technology which diffuses light on the skin to make it appear smoother and more radiant. Primer: It's silicon-based with a soft texture that immediately fills in lines and pores, thus creating a smooth surface for makeup application. Although not as good in extending makeup staying power as the L'Oreal TrueMatch Blur Primer, it also gives the makeup a better canvass to latch on for slightly improved makeup staying power. Anti-Aging Moisturizer: Because it is enriched with Pro Retinol A, it helps fight signs of aging with continuous use.

From the jar, the L'Oreal RevitaLift Magic Blur looks lumpy but it actually isn't. It has a soft, mousse-like consistency that feels smooth and heavenly when applied. I don't know how to emphasize just how soft it is - you just have to experience it to truly appreciate it. It's like the L'Oreal TrueMatch Blur Primer but a tad silkier to the touch.

Although I often favor skincare products that are basically odorless, I like how the L'Oreal RevitaLift Magic Blur has this very light, slightly floral scent. It's not overwhelming to the senses and it fades in minutes.

Upon application, L'Oreal RevitaLift Magic Blur immediately fills in the lines and crevices of the skin. It somehow acts like a filler, which in my opinion makes it a great candidate for a primer. I love how it makes the skin supple and silky to the touch. It basically creates a smooth and even canvass. And because of the hint of salmon tone to it, it also helps blur minor blemishes as it neutralizes dark marks. Know how salmon-toned concealers work best for neutralizing and concealing dark undereye circles? The same logic applies here.

L'Oreal RevitaLift Magic Blur leaves a lovely semi-matte finish thus making it a good everyday primer for when I just have to run a few errands, not wanting to pile on much makeup. It makes my face look presentable with very minimal makeup on. I love how it makes my skin look even and radiant all the while giving me skincare benefits.

I've been using the L'Oreal RevitaLift Magic Blur as my morning moisturizer for almost 3 months as of writing. Although I haven't noticed any significant results when it comes to wrinkles and fine lines, I have high hopes that the immediate results would eventually become permanent. But even if it would takes months (even years) to happen, I don't mind continuously using L'Oreal RevitaLift Magic Blur just because it delivers amazing, however short-term, results.

It's common knowledge that hair makeover is nothing new to me. I change my hair as often as I change my mind about my favorite lipstick. I've had countless hair makeovers throughout the years and I realized how most of them are brought about by a life event; may it be a celebration for an accomplishment, a career decision, or most often than not, a broken heart. I believe every girl tends to do the same when facing big changes in life. It's like our first instinct is to change our hair because, yes, the way our hair looks greatly impacts how we feel about ourselves. It has the power to make us feel better in an instant!

And this coming holiday season, I encourage everyone to go get a hair makeover just because it's great to end a year and at the same time, welcome 2016 with nothing less than the best version of yourself - and that includes your hair. :) Being able to visit different salons has been part of the privileges of a beauty blogger but somehow, no one ever has ever done my hair quite like JuRo Salon Exclusif.

1. It’s a secluded sanctuary in the middle of the busy Metro.

When you live anywhere in Metro Manila, a crowded salon is not a rare sight for you. Come to think of it, everything here is just too crowded. It’s a fact of life as it is considered as THE business district, but when it comes to salon time, I prefer having it done at a quiet place. I think of my makeover as my “me time”. The place doesn’t have to be grand, but it does have to be quiet and very chill.

Located at the 2nd floor of Kingston Place in BGC, JuRo Salon is like a gem in a cabbage patch. The place isn’t too big but it is cozy. Everyone’s busy but it doesn’t feel like they’re always in a rush. One thing I found interesting during my visit at JuRo’s is that the place is never empty but still never too crowded. Mind you, it went there on a weekday but they still got a number of clients coming in and out of the place.

2. They have trained staffs, but are still very hands-on with every makeover.

Like any other salons, JuRo has a decent amount of trained hands ready to assist the masters as they do their magic. But that’s the thing; they only assist. Jude does all the cutting whereas Rose does the coloring. They don’t delegate this kind of work to their staff. I have one too many experience to know that in most salons, the senior stylist would just give his staff a slur of instructions, do someone else’s hair and then just return to me for the finishing touches.. and then have the audacity to charge me for the work of a senior stylist like WTF, right? HAHA.

Well not at JuRo Salon. The most the staffs do is shampoo, dry, and style my hair with a few curls here and there. Most of the time they just hold segments of hair as Rose create patterns before coloring my hair.

3. They use only the best products.

With a lot of hair brands in the market today, it is difficult to be sure what salon stylists are really using on us when we get our hairs done. I remember reading this post online:

Okay, so this girl walks in to a salon she’s never been to before; she’s had her hair rebonded a number of times before but not at the said salon. She admitted that what made her decide to get her hair rebonded at that particular salon is the promo – I have to admit, these kinds of promos can be very appealing. During the process she noticed that the smell of the products used that time were different from the ones she’s used to. She let it slip but after the grueling hours of sitting (which often takes 4-6 hours based on experience), her hair looked hideous so she asked to see the medicine used. To her surprise, instead of using L’Oreal products which she paid for, the stylist used the kind you buy at divisoria for less than a hundred bucks. This story scared the sh*t out of me! I honestly haven’t had my hair rebonded since I read that horror story, haha.

My point is, there’s nothing stopping dime-a-dozen salons from using cheap products if they think they can get away with it. More money for them, right? How infuriating.

But of course, having the dedication of a painter, Rose wouldn’t use anything less the best. Expect nothing but the premium brands from JuRoSalon. Having said that, they’re currently championing an Italian brand that has been in the hair industry for 50 years. The brand Elgon develops and creates all of its own formulations in-house to meet the needs of both salons and end consumers, all manufactured in Italy.

4. Hair is their life’s work..

The powerful duo behind JuRo, Jude and Rose Hipolito, have worked a long side global hair brands such as Matrix and L’Oreal. And with the long string of solid experience when it comes to hair, the two have truly become the masters of their craft. No one knows precision haircut like Jude. I honestly haven’t had a haircut that good. I was so sure that my Php500-haircut at my usual Korean salon was the best.. boy, was I wrong!

Jude showed me, before cutting my hair, what my hair actually looked like from the back. The cut was jagged – and it was sooo obvious! It was embarrassing. Like what he always do for most first time clients, Jude corrected the error and damage done by mediocre salons. He talked about how much technicalities goes into just cutting hair, and he spoke with so much fire and passion that you’d think he wasn’t talking about just hair. He was so fun to listen to, all the while as he was sculpting my hair – yes, not just cutting it.

Rose, on the other hand, is not as chatty, but I appreciate how she explained each step as she goes along, trying to make me understand the art behind every process. She didn’t just throw in a lump of brown hair color.. she began by creating patterns that would create depth and movement to my hair.

The outcome was glorious but I did not appreciate the patterns at once. It was only when I was combing my bangs with my hand that I noticed how strategically the highlights were placed.

5. ...and they’re the masters of it.

The result of hours of hardwork – a masterfully executed Cara-Melt balayage that is work-appropriate, just as I requested. Most importantly, I felt like they achieved the goal without compromising my personal style.

I remember Jude mentioning that he looked over my social media account and noted that I always have my hair below the shoulder so he tried to cut off all the damaged parts and sculpted the layers so my hair would naturally fall into place – all the while keeping my hair at a length I’m comfortable with. It’s simple, really. They know hair.

Review: BYS Jumbo Liquid Eyeliner Pen

Generally speaking, I can skip eyeshadow on a normal day but never eyeliner. It's one of the things that could instantly change a look. Somehow my eyes look dull, tired and droopy when I don't line them properly so I have to say that eyeliner has become a necessity for my work makeup, along with concealer and lip balm of course.

The BYS Jumbo Liquid Eyeliner Pen, as the name suggests, comes in a pen-like packaging. But unlike most pen eyeliners I've tried before, this one resembles a permanent marker than a typical pen. Although sleek, simple and easy to lug around, the packaging is quite big and chubby; and so as its applicator but we'll take about that later. One good thing about the chubbier packaging is that it is easier to grab a hold of. I have a better grip of it, hence a more controlled application.

If I'm being totally honest, I was really very concern about the application. Seeing that the tip of the felt applicator is thick, though pointed, I was afraid it might limit the variety of lines I could create. I thought it would only be good for creating thick and bold lines. But to my surprise, with a little bit of practice, it can actually create slightly thinner, more precise lines. However, the felt tip is a bit too dry so it can feel a bit dragging when applied. Having said that, try not to add to much pressure when applying the eyeliner.

Photo of swatches above was taken the first time I tried BYS Jumbo Liquid Eyeliner Pen. You could see that I was struggling in drawing thinner lines. The photo below was when I was finally able to get better control for it. The key is to use the tip of the applicator in a right angle, not slanted.

The pigmentation makes all the struggle with the application worth it. I mean, seriously! It goes on jet black with just one swipe so I hardly have to go back in and add another layer. It dies quickly too so there's only a small window for it to mess up your eye makeup when you blink too hard. And when it dries, it stay put of hours! It is not completely waterproof as it claims, but it does a great job in remaining intact for a decent amount of time just as long as you don't rub your eyes.

2015 Wishlist!

I do this kind of post every single year since I started blogging. But somehow it gets harder and harder to write a wish list as I get older. I’d like to take that as a sign that I’m actually maturing and I’m veering away from material things. But then again, it’s just a list. It doesn’t define our character. Just because we have a few makeup on our list doesn’t make us petty and materialistic. I mean, I can’t put world peace or "stop world hunger" in a collage photo and put it here.

Speaking of, one pet peeve of mine: people who do charitable acts and announce it to the world like they deserve a medal for it or something. HAHA. It’s alright to support an advocacy and mention it once in a while. I just don’t like it when regular people become trapo like politicians.

Ooppss.. I better stop here before I get completely sidetracked. Haha. Let’s go back to my list then. :)

1. Office Attires. I’ve been shedding a lot of weight lately so most of my clothes actually fit better now. I was also able to stock up on corporate dresses all thanks to SM Women event. But when you do something so routinary every single day like me, one of the things to look forward to in the morning is dressing up for work. Nothing too bongga of course but I want to look presentable so I give what I wear some thought. I want my outfits to look respectable but at the same time, with a little dose of spunk or femininity, depending on what I’m feeling that morning. *wink!

Lately, I’ve been really fixated on pastel blazers so I have shoes and earth-toned bag here to balance it out. Imagine opening your wardrobe filled with colorful pastels! Aww that would be heaven. <3

2. Fitness Stuff. I’ve always wanted to try yoga but I guess I’m still waiting for the push, you know. I was once invited to a yoga event.. I thought that was my chance to gauge if I’d actually enjoy it before committing to a monthly/annual yoga membership. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to attend because of work. Now I’m still unsure if I should attend a class and more importantly, where. If you have any suggestions, I’m all ears. <3

I’ve been using Herbalife products for more than a month now and just to be clear, I pay for it using my hard-earned money. It’s not cheap but it’s totally worth it. I’ve lost 4kgs and counting. This is certainly one of the best weight lost programs I’ve tried. Let me know if you'd want me to blog about my Herbalife program down in the comment section. And oh, I still need to workout a bit so I’m including a stationary bike on my list. I can exercise while watching tv in our living room!

3. Of course, MAKEUP. I won’t be me if my wish list didn’t include any beauty product – no matter how much I already have. Makeup Forever HD Foundation as well as The Balm Cindy-Lou Manizer just because I’ve heard so much good things about them. A few MAC products.. because they’re MAC, need I say more? Christian Louboutin Lipstick. I have more than enough lipsticks but nothing remotely as pretty as this one! Look at it! <3

Makeup School. I wanted to enroll in one before I started working but one thing led to another and I ended up using my savings on other things. It’s alright, tho. I was never intending on becoming a PRO makeup artist or doing it for a living ‘cause I have issues with other people’s face being too close to mine. I need my personal space. HAHA! I just want to perfect my makeup and maybe learn new tricks on how to apply my makeup with less time.

4. Skincare. Now this is where a big chunk of my money goes right now. I’m in this constant struggle of trying to improve my skin. I just think that if I have good skin, I would need less makeup. I’ve tried Avene Eu Thermal Mist before and it was the bomb! It really does alleviate redness and itchiness. It’s a bit expensive, tho. I want to hoard the biggest size they have because it’s that good!

I can’t go wrong with Shiseido. Every single product I’ve tried from the brand has become my favorite at one point. I’m still using the Shiseido White Lucent Serum, Éclat Brightener and Ibuki as of writing. My Olay cleanser served me well but I’m still curious as to why a lot of beauty enthusiasts gush over the cult-favorite, Clarisonic. So yeah, that’s why it landed on my list – mere curiosity. HAHA. Same with the Glam Glow Mask and Paula’s Choice Retinol range. Wayne Goss has been praising the range non-stop! I want to know what the buzz is about. :)

5. Beauty Drip/Glutathione Injectable. Again with the skin. I’ve been itching to have this done regularly not just to achieve whiter skin but instead, to make my skin look healthier. I somehow feel like my work has dulled my skin despite all my efforts when it comes to skincare and derma appointments.

I heard Flawless Beauty Drip, a cocktail of nutrients, has a lot of benefits and because it is “drip”, it is more effective and delivers faster result. Maybe for my birth month. <3

6. Laptop Case. My brother asked me why I bought a new MacBook Air when I have a perfectly functioning Sony Vaio. I bluntly answered him “kasi maganda case ng MacBook”. Now he wouldn’t stop insulting how I make money-related decisions, haha. It was partly true. I love how cute MacBook cases are but it’s not the main reason. You know how noob I am when it comes to editing photos (I don’t know how to use Photoshop, still) and the built-in editor in MAC is very user friendly. <3

But then again, cute cases never hurt anyone. :P I have a thing for all galaxy-inspired prints at the moment. I get it’ll look good on my lappy, Clancy. Yes, I named my laptop after a fictional character.

7. Books. When it comes to books, I trust Kim’s recommendation. I would read anything she suggests because every book she has ever suggested up to this point has become one of my faves. <3 If you love books, too, ask her for more recos. SRSLY. <3

8. JAMES REID! HAHA! I’m a fan so if you could put James Reid in a box for Christmas, that would be swell. Ask my officemates and they’d tell you how I giggle and swoon whenever I watch the rerun of OTWOL on IWantTV in the office every morning. Oh wait, I think I like Clark Medina, not James Reid. I like his pa-sweet but suplado character. Aw, so kilig. HAHA <3

That’s it for this year’s wish list. Let’s see what items I can cross off in the coming months. Uhm, paging ze boyfriend! My birthday is only 3 weeks away. Feel free to browse my list ha. Review: L'Oreal True Match Crayon Concealer

As part of my eagerness to improve my overall skin's condition, I have turned to a healthier lifestyle. This means proper diet, exercise (as much as my hectic schedule permits) and although it's not completely within my control, I try to sleep at least 7 hours a day. But for days that I don't get enough sleep, I always turn to concealers for a quick fix. I'd rather suffer eyebags than the consequences of turning in an incomplete work paper for a client so overtime it is, haha. For times like this, sometimes a quick fix makes a huge difference.

As the name suggests, the L'Oreal True Match Crayon Concealer comes in a jumbo crayon-like packaging. Although not the first of its kind, I like it; it's easy to use and the cap has a lock wherein you have to twist it open. Having said that, there's very minimal risk of accidentally popping the cap off when inside the bag.

The pointed tip allows me to spot conceal with ease, as well as highlight my brow bone without the use of a separate brush for application. The twist-thingy to expose more of the product is cool, too, however the tip doesn't go all the way down the tube when new. So there's a tendency for the tip of the concealer to get caught on the clear plastic cap when I'm in a hurry.

L'Oreal True Match Crayon Concealer comes in 6 shades that perfectly match the new True Match Foundation. I got the W4-5 (concealer) to go with my G4 Gold Beige (foundation) - and true enough, they are the perfect combination for my skin! The shade blends in seamlessly on my skin leaving hardly any trace.

I know a few people who find the formulation of the L'Oreal True Match Crayon Concealer to be a bit too dry for their liking as it can be difficult to blend. Well, it is a tad drier compared my to usual go-to cream concealer, but it does have it's advantages. For one, it stays in place. It doesn't cake as much as cream concealers and it doesn't need a ton of effort in setting with powder. Personally, I like the texture and consistency. Although it works well for me combination/oily skin, I won't recommend this to those with dry skin as it may look flaky on them.

Application: Instead of focusing on the under eye area, make an inverted triangle using the concealer then blend it out. When you apply concealer only on the under eye area, you are actually highlighting it thus drawing more attention to your eyebags. With the "inverted triangle" technique, not only are you concealing the dark area but it also doubles as your highlight. And by doing so, the concealer is more seamlessly blended out [with the foundation].

It offers medium-heavy coverage that is quite buildable. However, keep in mind that because it is somewhat dry, you need to blend it out immediately after application as it settles fairly quickly. That's actually one of the things I love about this. When it dries, it stays in place for hours. It rarely sits in fine lines and it doesn't cake. Very impressive for a drugstore brand!

Ever wonder why people often say, “blooming ka ah, in love ka ‘no?” It’s because whatever we feel inside, reflects on the outside. We look fresh when we’re happy; the same way we look haggard and dull when we’re stressed. So this begs the question, what are the sure-fire ways to stay beautiful and confident? Allow me ton share some tips. :)

1. Don’t just eat less, eat healthy. I’ve recently underwent a lifestyle change thanks to a program I’m currently enrolled to, and this entails a strict monitoring of what I eat. I am only allowed a certain amount of calorie a day so I’m definitely eating less. I cut back on carbs, chips, sweets, fast food and basically anything that isn’t doing my body any favor. But you know what, I still have the energy to go about my daily routines. This goes to show that our body can actually work even with less food as long as they are the right food. Remember that whatever you intake in your body, shows. Fill your body with junk and your health would suffer – this includes dull tired skin among others. Load up on anti-oxidants and vitamin-rich food!

2. Stretch those muscles. Although it’s still important to sweat out the toxins from our body, I’m not telling you to go to the gym everyday. I know based on personal experience that work and social life are already difficult to balance as it is.. what more if I force myself to go to the gym on a daily basis. The goal is not to bulk up so you don’t have to be a gym buddy to accomplish this; just add a few things to your routine like instead of riding a cab for 2-3 blocks going home, why not walk or use the stairs instead of the elevator.

3. Invest in good skincare products. If I learned anything from beauty blogging, it’s that our environment is full of stressors so we need as much help as we can get. I consider a good skincare routine an investment especially with the kind of corporate work that I have. Not only will good skincare products help you get beautiful skin, but it also serves as your prevention measure. Less breakout = more confidence!

4. Comfort is key. It’s easy to be confident when you’re in your element. As long as you are comfortable in every aspect of yourself – your appearance, your clothes, your personality, and just your overall well-being – there’s nothing stopping you from being confident. There’s nothing more uncomfortable than feeling that sudden “surge” especially before your monthly visitor. I don’t know about you but this makes me super anxious and self-conscious. To make sure I’m always ready and comfortable, it’s important that I always have my trusted liner and pad within reach for girl emergencies.

#MakeItHappen: Walk Down Memory Lane With Maybelline New York + Giveaway! [Closed]

I maybe a late bloomer when it comes to blogging, but not with makeup. I knew makeup is something I thoroughly enjoy at an early age. And so while a lot of my classmates back in high school were fighting for their time in the limelight for different plays, I would always volunteer to do their makeup for extra credits instead. Nothing about the stage appeals to me, but doing their makeup brings me so much joy. Yes, we did a Noli Me Tangere play in high school and it didn’t matter if I was doing the makeup of Maria Clara, Donya Consolacion or even Crisostomo Ibarra, as long I can play experiment with my very limited kit. I was never the best, but I was more than willing to learn, which is what I’ve been doing until now. :)

Fast forward to my college years, I remember one of the first makeup brand’s I’ve ever owned was Maybelline New York, mainly because it was affordable. It was fine, but I always wanted to try high-end brands. I kept saving my allowance to try other brands. And thanks to my blog, I got to try a lot of new brands and products.. and by a lot, I do mean A LOT. I often think of the things I wouldn’t have tried if not for my blog, and I’m always grateful for everything.

The funny thing is that; even after trying a handful of high-end brands, brands that are more expensive by ten-folds than Maybelline, I found myself going back to it for my everyday use. Now, I can say that I use it not because I don’t have the means to get myself something better; but because it’s actually a great brand. Well, I wouldn’t let my little sister build her started makeup kit with a bunch of Maybelline products if they aren’t good, you know. I consider my baby sis as my mini-me no matter how much we argue, and given my makeup collection, I want her to get a better start at it than what I had then. :)

I have a few favorite HG products from high-end brands, and some Maybelline products that could really compete with luxury brands when it comes to quality. Take the Maybelline HyperCurl Mascara for example. It’s less than Php 200 but its way better than other mascaras that cost a thousand bucks a pop. So yeah, no matter how big my makeup collection becomes, I know I’d always have a place for Maybelline products. :)

Feature: Jord Wooden Wrist Watch in Ely (Cherry)

I’m an epic failure at curating the so-called “arm party” you see people post on Instagram. I’d like to think I have two reasons for it: one is that I just don’t have the time to experiment/mix and match to see what works, and two, I won’t risk my watches getting scratched by my bracelets. HAHA. I’ve always been a watch person, and I let my watches make the statement which is why I often forgo the unconventional watches. Well, except for my vintage gold Casio watch that I use for every day.

The newest addition to my small-but-eccentric collection of watches is this gorgeous wooden watch from Jord. Yes, it’s WOOD! I feel so close to Mother Nature already. :)

I will talk more about the brand Jord towards the end of the post but basically, they are a UK-based brand that offers a wide selection of high-quality wooden watches. This particular model is called Ely. It comes in different shades of wood, if there’s such a thing, haha. But this one right here is red/cherry made of natural red sandalwood. It is hand-finished, which gives it the beautiful details you will see in a while, and pre-treated with tung oils to make is splash-proof! I call it life-proof, too, because it is scratch-proof as well. <3

Like I said, this was shipped all the way from UK and it took more or less a month to arrive to my doorsteps. Fortunately for me, I didn’t have to pay any custom taxes which I heard could cost a lot – sometimes even more than the actual package!

The Packaging. The watch came in this equally gorgeous wooden box that’s very in-keeping with the theme, and it's totally reusable. I can already think of things to store here. :) Inside is a well-cushioned wooden watch plus a few warranty cards.

The Watch. For a wood, the watch itself is surprisingly light. And to be perfectly honest, it was way more beautiful than what I envisioned a wooden watch would be. It doesn’t look cheap or tacky. The quality is really commendable! The brand logo is carved on the back of the watch and it gives it more character whilst still keeping it simple and unique. It has double “click” locks, too, with the brand name, smaller and less prominent compared to the logo.

Before shipping the watch, you can request Jord to resize the watch, like what I did. Unfortunately, mine is still a little too big so I had to have it resized again before finally being able to wear it. Don’t worry; any watch repair store can adjust it just like a typical watch.

You’d think a wooden watch would be difficult to pair with any attire but it’s surprisingly easy as it goes with anything. It gives a simple outfit more character because it’s just so unique. I mean, how any people do you come across wearing a nice cherry-colored wooden watch? But because of its lack of "too much bling" and details, it can blend nicely with more detailed outfits. It still stands out but not too much.

It can be the center of the look but at the same time, it can also blend with the background. It’s simple yet it’s incredibly unique that it naturally draws people’s attention. And oh, it’s a great conversation starter as well. :)

Review: L'Oreal True Match Blur Cream

For me, when doing a full makeup, the base is more important than color (i.e. blush, eyeshadow) mainly because if the canvas looks uneven, everything on top of it will also look patchy and uneven. So aside from keeping my makeup stay on longer, a primer is a must-have for me to make sure my face is as smooth and even as possible before I start my makeup routine.

Along with the introduction of the new and improved version of the well-loved L'Oreal True Match Liquid Foundation, the brand also welcomed the revival of one of my personal favorites, the L'Oreal Perfect Magique Base. I blogged [and raved] about it a couple of years back, but that love affair was rather short-lived, though, because L'Oreal eventually decided to discontinue the product. Recently they released the replacement in the form of this L'Oreal True Match Blur Cream, which is, as expected, very similar to its predecessor.

The L'Oreal True Match Blur Cream is housed in a sizable squeeze-tube packaging with a narrow nozzle to aid in controlling the amount of product to be dispensed. The overall packaging isn't fancy or anything; it is simple but ultimately functional. Unlike the bulky glass jar packaging of the L'Oreal Perfect Magique Base, this is actually something I would gladly take with me on out-of-town trips as it is easy to fit in any pouch. It's light, sturdy and just overall travel-friendly.

Like most my favorite primers, L'Oreal True Match Blur Cream is silicon-based with a bit of clumpy texture so it squirts out of the tube when being dispensed. It comes in a medium beige shade with apparent peach undertone. The texture and the shade goes hand in hand in filling in line, pores and crevices of the face as well as blurring out minor imperfections and discolorations. Imagine a subtle 'soft focus' filter but in real life!

I love how it creates a smooth surface for better and even foundation application. It also lessens the need to conceal small marks. A primer is not a primer if it's not able to keep your makeup intact longer. I'm glad to report that this actually helped improve makeup longevity. I'm not so much in the oily side, but if you are, this doesn't totally keep oil at bay. Although not as much as you would normally do, it's still safe to keep a blotting paper within reach for when oil starts to build up on your T zone.

I don't know if you can see it, but the lines at the back of my hand are not as visible immediately after applying the L'Oreal True Match Blur Cream. It isn't heavy, too! Oh, how I wish you can feel how soft my skin is with it. I love it. I would most definitely be repurchasing this soon.

Quick Review: Mondes Hair Vitamin Morocco Argan

Remember when I bleached my own hair at home for that ombre look that I had to cut off a month later? I didn't realize that bleached hair needed special care so my hair ended up being so painfully damaged, more than I care to admit. My hair is looking a lot healthier now after all the haircuts and treatments, but a few months ago, I couldn't even comb my wet hair without applying oil. It was so bad that I emptied bottles after bottles of hair oils every time I wash my hair.

One of the hair products I got to try was the Mondes Hair Vitamin Morocco Argan I got from the Watsons Hair Heroes Beauty Box last year. I've had it for a while but only got the chance to try it recently. The packaging is quite interesting: Mondes Hair Vitamin Morocco Argan comes in a medicine-like bottle and inside it are 10 break-off capsules that contain the organ oil concentrate.

Argan oil naturally contains exceptional percentage of Vitamins E & F, essential fatty acids and protein. It helps revive and strengthen the hair. I apply 1-2 capsules on my damp hair, concentrating on the ends, before combing it to help remove tangles and prevent more hair fall. I like how it smoothens the hair thus making it more manageable. Having said that, the whole bottle only lasted a few days with me. I think it would've been more economical if they placed the capsules in blister packs like Dove.

The oil itself is very rich so I prefer not to apply it on dry hair as it may look too greasy. The only issue I have with this is the smell; it is a tad too strong for my liking, and I find it a bit off-putting to be honest. Overall, it's really a great product but I still find the smell bothersome. Maybe it's just me 'cause I've always preferred my hair oil to be either odorless or with a light fruity/floral scent.
