Rita Bahuguna Joshi, Dr Indukant Dixit get Observer awards

Varanasi, January 30, 2016: Senior Congress leader Rita Bahuguna Joshi, Dr. Indukant Dixit of PTI Ranchi and 25 other dignitaries from different fields were awarded ‘Observer awards’ for the year 2015 here today.

Senior Congress leader and former Madhya Pradesh CM, Digvijay Singh gave away ‘Observer Lifetime Achievement Award’ and ‘Observer Young India Excellence Awards’ to 27 highest dignitaries including Dr Indukant Dixit of PTI, Ranchi and Rita Bahuguna Joshi, Senior Congress leader, in various social field for rendition of their excellent services in society.

Observer Peace Foundation, a trust dedicated to the cause of building ideal society promoting ideological thoughts and values organized the programme.

Digvijay Singh congratulated the recipients of the award as well as appreciated their work in various fields. He remembered Mahatma Gandhi while releasing a book as well written by Dr. Amar Jyoti Singh on ‘Usefulness of Gandhian Philosophy in Rural Development.’

The Foundation conferred ‘Observer Lifetime Achievement Award 2015’ to 18 eminent personalities for their excellence in various fields like medicine, education, social service, police, women empowerment etc. The prominent among them were Dr. Rita Bahuguna Joshi of Congress for her social services and contribution to women empowerment. Other dignitaries bagging Observer Lifetime Achievement Awards were Dr. Vikram Singh, former DGP, UP, Prof. K.B Pandey, Prof. Manjit Chaturvedi etc.

The Foundation also gave ‘Observer Young India Excellence Award 2015’ was given to Nine personalities for their inspirational contribution in their fields. Main recipients among many were Dr. Indukant Dixit, Principal Correspondent, BHASHA, Ranchi, Jharkhand.

While talking to reporters Dr. Amar jyoti Singh and Dr. Amar Bahadur said that each member of Observer Foundation is dedicated to its mission of building an ideal society through their own way though westernization has led to materialism and has changed the dynamics of ideal Indian society.

“On one hand ideological struggle is in full swing and on the other we decided to honour the eminent social contributors so that they become motivational source for the new generation”, they added.

Solar energy movement is the need of smart city, says Janak Palta McGilligan

Varanasi, January 30, 2016: “The concept of smart will not be succeeded unless there is development plans in accordance with villages. Warli developmental institution for rural women has already done tremendous job in this direction. Solar cooking movement has become an essential need for contemporary Indian context. Smart habit has to match with life style," said Padmasri Janak Palta McGilligan while was addressing the last session of national conclave jointly organized by InSPIRE Varanasi, IIT, BHU, Department of Chemistry, Institute of Science, IIM (Ahmedabad) and Indian Biogas Associations at KN Udappa Auditorium here in the premises of the Banaras Hindu University.

McGilligan focused on entrepreneurial development through solar technique. McGilligan, who has already trained 6000 rural women of 500 villages, declared patent process against the concept of smart and labeled solar cooker as contemporary need.

Deepak Gadhia of Muni Seva Ashram called real India connection today's vital requirement. Prof. Deb Brat Das of IIT (Kharagpur) declared hydrogen as fuel of future and brought some important points regarding secretion of methane and carbon dioxide.

Last session was conducted by Prof. PK Mishra. He stressed upon organic agriculture and connected requirements of smart city with cultural and traditional values. PS Ojha, an administrative officer of UP Government, drew the plans of government in the reference of biogas and bio-diesel consumption.

Panel Discussion was also organized on the last of day of two day conclave. Prof. SN Upadhyay, former Director IIT (BHU), said that green agriculture and green energy were the essential organs of smart city. Prof. Nandlal Singh, Gaurav Kedia, Dr Avadhesh Dixit, Prof. Shashi Subhash Mishra and Prof. Pradeep Srivastava were present on the occasion. Prof PK Mishra proposed a vote of thanks.

Community, individual and technique are the solutions to the problems, says Prof Sangal

Varanasi, January 29, 2016: “Community, individual and technique are the essential parts of any problem. Actually, these three dimensional problems are the solutions itself. Time has come when we have to think regarding the solutions of the question such as what will happen when no more petrol and diesel available in our country? Spirituality can be the solution on individual level but the most important thing is what we should believe in, we should practice", said Prof Rajeev Sangal, Director, IIT (BHU), while addressing a conclave based on “Inclusion for India's Smart City Plan using energy renewability and energy efficiency”.

This two-day national conclave has jointly been organized by InSPIRE, IIT (BHU), Department of Chemistry, Institute of Science, BHU, IIM, Ahmedabad and Indian Biogas Association, New Delhi at KN Uduppaa Auditorium, BHU

Chief Guest Vinay Kumar of Art of Living, Bangaluru stressed upon the loss of traditional values and culture. He declared traditional loss against the concept of Smart. He drew the importance of “Sabka Haath Sabka Vikas” programme unlike Govt of India's Sabka Sath, Sabka Vikas.

He paved the way for down to top approach for sustainable development and told garbage engine as the solution for energy loss.

Special guest AK Singh, Managing Director (Purvanchl Vidyut Nigam Limited), clarified that lack of self-evaluation is accountable for uncontrolled production of green house gases. He also paid the attention towards limited availability of solar energy. Prof B Singh, Director (Institute of Science), said energy as the essential part of life. He also focused on the science-technology relationship to come forward in order to increase energy production.

Dr B.R.Shukla, President of Indian Biogas Association, saw small and medium workers as the vital part of Smart concept and brought some points regarding connecting them with main stream. Prof BK Shukla of Institute of Science explained the economical aspects for the sources of energy renewability.

Prof SN Upadhyay, former Director IIT (BHU), said that the solar, wind, biomass energy were the contemporary need. Poster exhibition was also organized on this occasion.

Distinguished professors and participants from all over the country came on the first day of this conclave and got some concrete results under the problems of energy loss and energy consumption.

Guests were welcomed by Prof Nandlal Singh, Prof Pradeep Kumar Srivstava, Gaurav Kedia and Prof PK Mishra. Three sessions were organized on the first day of this two-day conclave. The programme was conducted by Prof PK Mishra.

Varanasi, November 21, 2015: Ashish Kumar Gupta, Department of Applied Arts (Faculty of Visual Arts) and Subhashita of the same department have been adjudged first and second place winners in the competition to design commemorative coins and stamps to be released by the Government of India, according to Central Celebrations Cell of the Banaras Hindu University.

Arnab Biswas of the Department of Chemistry (Faculty of Science) got the third place. The winners will receive cash prize of Rs 10000, Rs 7000 and Rs 5000 respectively.

The winners were decided by a committee constituted under the chairmanship of the Dean, Faculty of Visual Arts, Prof. Hiralal Prajapati with Prof. Shyamal Das Gupta, Dr. Suresh Nair and OSD of the Centennial Celebrations Cell, Dr. Vishwanath Pandey.

At the occasion of the centennial celebrations of the Banaras Hindu University, the Finance and Telecommunications Ministries of the Government of India have decided to release commemorative stamp and coins of Rs 100 and Rs. 10 for commercial transactions. The Vice Chancellor of the Banaras Hindu University, Prof Girish Chandra Tripathi had directed to organize a competition for the design of the coins/stamp amongst the students of the Banaras Hindu University.
