VaxDesign CEO William Warren talks with FOXNews about the importance of the MIMIC® System to U.S. government agency, DARPA.

“During a crisis, to develop vaccines quickly, we need real human data,” says William Warren, CEO of the Florida-based biotech company VaxDesign and the subcontractor who built MIMIC. “It’s not just that animal testing is controversial, expensive and time-consuming. It’s that a lot of drugs that work in animals don’t in humans. MIMIC allows clinical trials to take place in a test tube — it sidesteps these problems.”

MIMIC® System Helps U.S. Department of Defense Assess Plague Vaccine Candidate

The United States’ Department of Defense Chemical Biological Medical Systems (CBMS) office features VaxDesign’s MIMIC® System in the latest issue of Chem-Bio Defense Quarterly. Thanks to the MIMIC® System’s high-throughput processing, CBMS was able to acquire information about human immune responses to a plague vaccine candidate “within six months of a cold start.”

The Chemical Biological Medical Systems Joint Project Management Office (CBMS-JPMO) is responsible for the development, procurement, fielding, and sustaining of premier medical protection and treatment capabilities against chemical and biological warfare agents.

VaxDesign's MIMIC® System receives 2009 Governor's New Product Award

The Florida Professional Engineers in Industry, a practice section of the Florida Engineering Society, has selected VaxDesign’s MIMIC® System as a recipient of the 2009 Governor’s New Product Awards by the Florida Professional Engineers in Industry.

The Governor’s New Product Award will be presented during the Professional Engineers’ Legislative Days on Tuesday, February 17, 2009 in Tallahassee. The awards ceremony will be held at Florida Capitol on the 22nd Floor from 4:30pm to 6pm.

VaxDesign is proud to receive this award and appreciative of the recognition by the esteemed members of Florida Engineering Society.
