Okay, Now, We’re Really Open for Business

Yes, it’s been a long time since that last, uh, “we’re open for business” post.

Apologies for that. Other things got in the way.

Building a new company

Frankly, I know this won’t be an easy feat, but, like many people, I’ve become tired of seeing nonhuman animals exploited and abused by the billions; tired of otherwise nice people (“consumers”, etc.) absentmindedly driving the profits of companies who knowingly commit horrific cruelty against fellow Earthlings.

I know many non-vegans who would gladly adopt a far more vegan diet if it were simply a bit more convenient. I know folks who would make the leap to start a vegan restaurant or other business, if there was just a little bit more confidence in the potential market. I know lots of “ovo-lacto” vegetarians who would go totally vegan if there were a wider availability of less expensive dairy and egg substitutes. I know a lot of super creative vegans who would become “Ad Men” or “Ad Women” if there were such businesses where they could find gainful employment.

I certainly hope we’re not the first advertising agency with vegan values, and I’m confident we won’t be the last.

This morning, the final kick in the pants came from a tweet from another vegan I’d never met before. On his twitter feed, Patelli, an “ad man” from Orange County, California, and founder of the Veg Ad Network, tweeted about our company. Seeing that, I knew that since the first post in 2008, this thing has been a well-intended fiction. Well, not quite a fiction. But a Wish more than an Enterprise. Well, thank you, Patelli, for inspiring an other vegan businessperson to get busy.

Blogging about the process of doing this

For the weeks and months, what I’ll be doing here mostly is blogging about the process the vegan advertising company from scratch.

At the risk of embarrassment, I’ll be fairly open about the process for one good reason — to inspire others to build vegan businesses, or to adapt their current businesses to more Earthling-friendly principles.

It takes a village, and if we can learn from each other’s successes and mistakes, we might get where we’re headed faster.

As of now, we have zero capital, no staff (except moi and five cats), but we do have a whole lot of skills and resources and friends, which we’ll leverage to create value as soon as possible.

ARE WE OPEN TO INVESTMENT?
Yes.

DO WE ABSOLUTELY NEED INVESTMENT TO START DOING SOME GOOD?
No. So, we’re just gonna start this thing and see what happens.
