First dishes, now cookbooks. Seems logical to me. Once you have your nifty dishes, you need to have something to put in them.

I'm going to talk about two of my favorite cookbooks, first up is:

Veganomicon

Can I just tell you that I am in love with this cookbook, from the delicious and easy to follow recipes to the pretty full color photographs, be prepared to drool. It's one of my favorites. This cookbook will impress even the staunchest of meat eaters in your inner circle.

Written by Isa Chandra Moskowitz creator of the vegan punk cooking site Post Punk Kitchen & Terry Hope Romero, they use everyday ingredients that can be found in the pantry of even the thriftiest vegan to items that can only be described as specialty.

There's something for everyone in this cookbook, from the novice cook to the cook extraordinaire that likes a challenge. Veganomicon even breaks the recipes into funky menus. Of course it also lists the recipes into categories from different tempeh and tofu recipes to desserts and cookies, to salads and one pot meals. There are even gluten free recipes for our vegan friends that can not tolerate wheat. The recipes are even broken down by icons. You'll see what I mean when you get this outstanding cookbook.

I've made many of these recipes and I have not found one yet that I have not thoroughly enjoyed from the Creamy Cheezy Sauce to the Baked BBQ Tofu. The Prospect Park Potato Salad, especially brought back memories of growing up in Brooklyn, NY and the wonderful refreshing potato salad my mom would make. If you ever get the chance visit Brooklyn do stop by Prospect Park, it a beautiful place to see.

Trust me every vegan should have a copy of Veganomicon proudly displayed on their bookcase. Believe me, you can't miss with this wonderful book of cookery.

My next favorite cookbook is:

Vegan Cupcakes Take Over the World again by Isa Chandra Moskowitz and Terry Hope Romano

This is one fun cookbook. It's written as though you are kickin' it in the kitchen with a good friend who's teaching you the art of creating numilicious cupcakes.

As tasty as these are I can understand why cupcakes are taking over the world. Again I have not been disappointed with any of the recipes I've tried so far.

Here before I continue let me show you one of these delicious vegan treats that I made from this wonderful book:

Cookies & Cream Cupcakes Yepper, this is my yummy version of these babies, I made them for my son's birthday earlier this month and I was so proud of how they came out I just had to take a picture. And believe me it wasn't easy since he was scarfing these down at a high rate of speed.

I've also made the classic yellow cupcake, and the lemon cupcakes. Yes, I admit it, I'm addicted to the wonderful desserts found between the covers of this book. And, yes they also provide a gluten free version; so fear not there's something here for everyone.

I can't wait to try the green tea ones. I know I'm not the only one that loves green tea; whether it's in a steaming hot mug, nestling ice cubes, as a frozen dessert treat or in yummy cupcakes, you can't go wrong with green tea.

For my birthday yesterday I was fortunate enough to have a tasty hybrid using the basic chocolate cupcake recipe and topping those heavenly dark and chocolately bites of ecstasy topped off with the lemon buttercream frosting, it was the just the right amount of sweetness wrapped in lemony tartness (goodness there are so many great toppings to choose from; there's a whole section dedicated to them). I must admit that was one of the best parts of my birthday. I wish you all could have been there... but then again... nah, because I would have had to share them. You understand.

Hurry up and snap up this wonderful book and you'll be surprised how many of these light and fluffy cupcakes come prancing out of your kitchen.

Still licking lemon buttercream frosting from my fingers,
MXS

Vegan Dishware

Do you know a vegan that's looking for something chic that can be used everyday? or are you that vegan that would love to own your own set of totally cool vegan dishes?
