Keeping Kids Safer with RFID - Great IDea!

Canadian Manufacturer, Prairie Tech Enterprises is rolling out their new "Where Abouts" system to help protect the lives of people and animals who are in close proximity to farm equipment. Their breakthrough system involves the use of RFID wristbands worn by persons or livestock. These bands notify equipment operators via a transponder in their farm vehicles. When a RFID wearing body is within 100 feet of the vehicle, the driver is notifed. Great IDea guys!

We are starting to see quite a few more requests for QR codes and have manufactured several event credential and badge holder orders with this code included. It's great to see that Jolly Technology, one of our software partners for visitor management and ID card software, is now supporting QR codes across their product line. Well done, Jolly. Well done.

Several weeks ago I think we set a record for notes and letters from customers thanking us for great work. I love it when those notes are directed to management to point out how well our staff is serving folks.

This morning flowers arrived for our Kim Crawford and we all assumed it was from her most loving husband, but alas, it was from a customer and it included a swell thank you note. Way to go, Kim!

We love hearing from all of you when we do great and when you think we can improve on what we do for you. It's is a big goal here to create an increasing group of raving fans. Thanks for the feedback.

Here is a sweet idea for a membership club card. Our client prints the personalized info, slides it under the clear flap and zips it through a laminator. Not only is it cost effective, do you think the card holder will lose something this cool? Sweet.

Skimming RFID Credit Cards

See the icon in the circle? It means a high frequency RFID chip is inside the card. This icon is usually printed smaller on the backside of credit card. If the card has this feature it is quite useful for quicker purchasing, but the card information can also be skimmed by a bad guy. Visit skimsafe.com for a solution to this problem.

Sony and HID agree to team up on FeliCa RFID

Sony and HID Global have agreed to work jointly on the "new" Sony FeliCa contactless smart card reader project. FeliCa is a near field communication card, operating in the 13.57 MhZ frequency band. FeliCa cards are a perfect candidate for protection with Laminex's SkimSAFE badge holder product, with blocks any and all 13.56 MhZ transmissions to and from the card, unless the user removes the card from the holder.

12 Security Guidelines from SIA

SIA - the Security Industry Association released its draft of a 12- point Privacy Framework for identity information security this week. Read more on this important plan here

One of the points in the framework is "Implementing privacy-enhancing solutions during the design phase of products, when possible."

A simple, low tech way to do just this is the use of an RFID shielded badge holder for personal ID cards that are RFID enabled. As many government employees are carrying a PIV, and CAC as their primary form of photo identification, these shielded badge holders protect the person's valuable private data that can be encoded on the card's RFID chip.
