I have always had a problem with my place in society as a woman. None of the roll-models offered up to me were any that appealed to me except maybe Ripley (from Aliens) or Xena, Warrior Princess. And yet, I am a Virgo. Yes, I have Mars in Scorpio, Jupiter in Aries and a Sag ascendant, but still. These could not, in my mind, account for the temper I have spent a large portion of my life learning to control. When I get angry, I have no fear. This has gotten me to walk into acquaintances bedrooms when I heard the boyfriend hitting his (much smaller) girlfriend, offer to throw full-grown drunk men out of the shop I worked in and having them leave! (I am 161 cm or 5 foot 2 inches tall) and telling a group of 5 or 6 bullies to piss off when I found them at it in a secluded place with a victim. The icing on the cake is a fight with the police. Yes, my temper as been a problem.  To lose has been to die a little. My greatest downfall has been my pride. And I am a Virgo. It made no sense.

After many many years of searching I think I have solved the mystery.

Regulus.

Perhaps you are already familiar with Regulus and do not need further information. If not, this could potentially be a missing part of your horoscope. His belongs to a group called The Royal Stars, in the sign of Leo and is considered the foremost. His name means “The Star of Kings”. He is associated the royalty and power – or a “majestic” temperament. Regarded by the Greeks as a mixture of Mars and Jupiter it will leave its mark on you if it comes in contact with any of the personal planets or angles (Sun, Moon, Ascendant, Descendent, Mercury, Venus and Mars. He is also considered to be the arch-angel Raphael, one of the four horsemen of the apocalypse. Kind of a heavy hitter. The orb I have found given is an entire 3 degrees, three times the amount of any other I’ve read about.

In my horoscope it is conjoined with a Leo Moon, right on the cusp of Virgo, in house 8. This would exaggerate the “occult interests” that go with this aspect (ergo I have always been interested in astrology and love mysteries, psychology (or both in murder mysteries) and all that is beneath the surface of a person. It takes a lot to make me flinch… or surprised. This aspect is also supposed to “make women high-spirited and independent.”  I’ll dance by myself whenever I feel like it. And I’ll rock hard. Pink is a favorite. Or old-style hard rock. I’ve always felt hard-rock is for warriors trying to get by in a domesticated society. That’s just my opinion, but I think its Regulus talking.

Of course, even Xena has a soft side and she is a true and loyal friend, not to mention nice to have on your side in a fight. As long as she fights the good fight and keep her ego in control (easier said than done) Regulus will come to your aid when you need him.

If we decide to follow the white rabbit down the yellow brick road (yes, I know I’m mixing up my metaphor’s but what do you expect when doing a chart for someone who has Neptune quincunx to their natal Sun?) Can’t you see all the fairy-dust just shimmering around him? Jupiter opposite his Sun give the sparkle an extra boost. And just in case that isn’t enough, Venus and Libra are everywhere. Venus is conjoined in Taurus (its home) with Mercury. His Libra Moon is in the first house and, here is where I find it get’s interesting, joined in the declinations with Saturn in Taurus, 7th house.  The male/female theme is strong in his horoscope.  The ties between Venus/Moon and Saturn also mean that things where not as easy as we might first think.

He spent a significant amount of time out-side the USA as a child, because of the attitude towards his parents inter-racial relationship. Living for a while in first in Denmark, then Bahrain and Ghana, it was difficult for him when he got back to the States.  The travel (broadening of his horizon) is complements of Jupiter i Scorpio, first house, the house of identity. It has had a direct impact on making Shemar who he is.  But back to that Neptunian quincunx, in house 2. The combination should make him a recluse or something, shouldn’t it? Well, Neptune is tied to all kinds of escapes and T.V. and movies qualify as that. The catalyst to success can be found in a very personal Ascendent parallel his Jupiter/Uranus midpoint in the declinations. He also has a singularly stubborn and tenacious Saturn conjoined to his Sun/Mercury midpoint, all of which planets are in Taurus.

Yet for all this, he is a romantic. Libra and Venus make sure of that, and the happiest “Bulls” in the world are the ones who’ve found their soul-mates, the person who makes sure the are fed and loved and cuddled. She’ll have to get along with his Mom, though, Moon in first house and all that.

Before he can do that,  he’ll needs to find out who he is as a man. His Cancerian MC shows where he’s come from, but under the surface, Capricorn waits to be discovered. Letting himself or his family down is not an option.

The Neptune/Pisces theme emerges once more in his lunar nodes, in Pisces, and Shemar does fund-raising in accordance with this. After his mother was diagnosed with MS Shemar started a line of clothing, the proceeds going to research about the illness.

I love finding character behind a pretty face. I used to think it was cool, the way he portrays Morgan in Criminal Minds, now I realise there is more substance to him.  Seems to me he is… a real man.

It is always nice when I look at the themes of the day and find something positive and strong.  The Sun had it tough and lonely last week, difficult questions came to the surface and the realization that no matter how close you are to another person, you can still feel and be alone. The aspects in place this week follow up on that theme, but leave room for reconnecting and reconciliation.

Jupiter is very high in the declinations, making its influence strong. It is in Cancer and also, retrograde. This means memories; feelings and forgotten things have a chance to surface. An opportunity to remember how love felt when it was fresh and new.  It’s approaching Chiron, meaning that this is a time to heal old wounds, perhaps one of the best a person will see in a decade. It is a time for forgiving, ourselves and the ones we love.

Pluto in Capricorn (sextile Chiron, opposite Jupiter) reminds us that just because we forgive does not mean that we are suppose to stay in a situation that is bad for us, one that stifles our potential or leaves us empty of life and joy. We are obligated to take care of ourselves as well. This is reinforced by Venus in Capricorn as well, and also, Venus is conjoined to Saturn in the declinations. She is serious, thinking about the future, making her decisions on things that have passed and finding the strength to take action. This is a time for weddings… or good-byes.

Mars is strongly and romantically placed in Libra, coming up on the Sun. No lack of romance or demonstrations of, er, physical affection.

Aspects to the Moon are strangely absent, until you start looking at the declinations where the theme of memories and sentiments, love and romance again emerge.

Love in water and earth signs if like finding a cool pool  in a lush garden at midnight. The fire sign moon is the campfire we gather round after we have delved deep into the memories, feeling the colors, remembering the scents and touches. Mars brings us the air of clarity coupled with feeling and clear vision.

Seems this could be a Valentine’s Day worth remembering…

In the same way our lives have cycles and they are often directly related to the returns in our charts. Saturn comes around every 12 years or so, and makes us take stock, ask tough questions. How did the road I chose to walk every day and the responsibilities that came with it, effect me and my life? Is it still going in the direction I want to? Also, if we have been negligent Saturn will hold us responsible. Take for example Arnold Schwarzenegger. His Sun/Saturn parallel (in the declinations) magnifies any mistakes he makes exponentially.  Even worse for him it seems his son was the conceived when he was in the midst of a Uranus opposition to his natal Sun. A guarantee that the liaison would become public and the damage to his reputation is the opposition of Saturn to Uranus.

The grim reaper was not happy with his lack of control and would sooner or later hold him accountable.  Add Pluto to the mixture (secrets, obsessions, risk-taking) and you just know it would not end well. Seems we really have to watch what we do with our seven year itch, which is of course the length of time is takes Uranus to make hard transits to it’s birth position.

Being honest can be really difficult because sometimes the truth hurts, even devastates, like when you’re told the one you love wants to be free again. But being told the truth is also being shown respect and being given the opportunity to retain your dignity.

Being lied to is much more damaging.  Truth fosters trust, closeness and an honest chance at making important choices about our lives. And life changes. So do our feeling, because we change. Sometimes relationships reach a natural end and we enter into a fall and a winter in our lives. Spring returns, though, every year.

In our lives, the one thing we can always count on is change. Change is hard, but I’ve found that by making responsible decisions, even the most trying times can end on a good note.  And you don’t have to believe in spring for it to come around. You do, how-ever, have to open your senses in order to be able to take it in. Don’t live in the sun wearing a heavy winter jacket just because life changed. Adapt to the season. Life can still be way beyond awesome if you give it a chance.

Todays reflections on life, change and how things really suck ass sometimes…

The best things in my life have come about because of the decisions I made and the work I put into making them happen. There are, of course, thousands of things that could have happened that would have put an end to them, but that’s playing the “what if” game, and that’s not what I’m doing here.

The fact of the matter is everyone gets their share of shit in this life. Yes, some more than others and no, it isn’t fair, not even close to fair. Mostly it just is.

That should in no way stop you from trying to make every day here the best one you can. I mean, even if we are reincarnated, what if there are no motorbikes or parachuting or (heaven forbid!!!) internet next time round? Seriously! Make the most of it because a large portion of the memories you get to look back on are memories you get to create.

Take care of the ones you love because our best memories are of our family and those close to our hearts.   “Love protects. Love defends. Love restores. Love empowers.”

Stay true to who you are.

Laugh at yourself, we are all only human.

Step out of your comfort zone, challenge yourself and your beliefs.

So my boyfriend left me, I have to move house and nothing is going exactly as planned…

Can’t say I’m suprised, if there’s any planet you can count on to shake and stir things up in your life, it’s Uranus

I’ll get back with my acquired insights just as soon as we’re done moving…

Let me explain. This planetary combination makes you reckless and prone to take risks you wouldn’t otherwise. This is not specific to any area of life, it is an attitude, a mindset. It slowly wears you down because of the losses and failures (the only possible outcome of bad choices) you begin to believe “life” is against you. Without hope the world turns grey. This doesn’t happen in a “flip the switch” manner, it happens over an extended period of time.

Keep in mind that the damage will only become a s severe as you let it become, but you will be left to deal with the consequences.

Something else you need to keep in mind when these planets are working in tandem, it is very possible that your health will suffer. Your physical well-being is directly connected to your emotional well-being, so make them both equal priorities. This is very important. If you have someone, a parent, close family member, someone you know has your best interests at heart, let them help you see your situation clearly and try to really listen to them. Get used to the idea that it’s most likely time to make changes for the better, and change is hard, but unavoidable.

Having been through this myself a few years back, I know you can get through this and even have your life improved as a consequence, but you will need other people’s eyes to  see clearly. You would do well to check Jupiter position as well, as it can greatly alleviate the effects of this transits. And remember, just as the planets positions forever change and move, this too, shall pass.

The work of Michel Gauquelin tells us that a good deal of writers are born under the influence of the moon (not quite what we expected) and Uranus, of course, is all that is space-age and cool.
