&lt;p&gt;When I was at CPAC in February, Congressman Ron Paul announced to the capacity crowd at the Omni Shoreham that he had introduced a bill in the House that would (from my understanding), for the first time ever, audit the books of the Federal Reserve. This came as no shock to any of us who have followed Dr. Paul since his 2007-08 Presidential run. Later developments did induce some surprise, however; not only did many other Congressmen, including my own (Dan Burton) sign on as co-sponsors, but the bill passed the House last month.&lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
&lt;p&gt;That the Federal Reserve exists at all is a testament not only to how far we have strayed from the wishes of the Founding Fathers, but how much control we have ceded to the centralized State. (More on that in a future blog post, which I hope to have up very soon.) That it has never once been audited by either the government or an independent agency and that it operates as much in secret as it does is nothing short of a travesty, unworthy of our heritage.&lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
&lt;p&gt;Ron Paul is a true patriot, exemplified by so many of his stances over the years, among them sounding the alarm on the machinations of the Federal Reserve the whole time. This bill was argued and passed with complete transparency, in contradistinction to the stimulus package and Cap &amp;amp; Trade debates. One other interesting factotum: the text of the bill (HR 1207) runs about a page and a half, as opposed to the gargantuan 1,000+ page affairs that comprised the Porkulus and Cap &amp;amp; Trade debacles. You can &lt;a href="http://www.govtrack.us/congress/billtext.xpd?bill=h111-1207"&gt;read it here&lt;/a&gt;.&lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
&lt;p&gt;&#xD;
&lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
&lt;p&gt;Well, HR 1207 is DOA in the Senate. Not to say that it will never be resurrected; Ron Paul doesn't give up that easily, but it was awarded a swift demise. Senator Jim DeMint (God bless his valiant heart) did his best and has publicized it to the extent that he could; in fact, he was on Glenn Beck's TV show tonight spreading the word. And I have to take my hat off to Vermont's Senator Bernie Sanders, technically an Independent, but in reality, a card-carrying Socialist, for co-sponsoring the Senate version with DeMint. I don't know what Sanders' reasons were, nor do I particularly care; we'll take allies where we can when we fight for right. (Someone far wiser than I once said, "He who is not against us is for us", right?)&lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
&lt;p&gt;It would be one thing if Audit the Fed had been sent to the chopping block by the Democrats, but it wasn't. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, and Richard Shelby, R-Alabama did the dirty work on this, making sure it got blocked on a procedural tactic so they could continue to fight for business as usual in Washington, rather than allow the taxpayers of the United States to see what is being done with the revenue they generate that is force-cycled through Washington.&lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
&lt;p&gt;If this is the best the Republican Party can do, it doesn't deserve to survive and I speak as a Republican. If the default position of the GOP is to advocate secrecy for the Federal Reserve and block attempts to shine delight the Fed's deliberations with arcane parliamentary maneuvers, then we can do better. Career politicians, regardless of party, had better get ready for an accounting on this and other matters.&lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
&lt;p&gt;If I sound mad, then all I can say is, "Great deduction, Sherlock." The Fed exists to regulate (read, manipulate and inflate) the currency and has done a spectacular job of it over the last century. It is a Woodrow Wilson brainchild, created with the intent of obscuring the real meaning of currency and financial assets from the vast majority of the population at large. Chalk another point up for the elite at the expense of the regular folks. And don't tell me that Grassley and Shelby don't know it. If they don't, then they don't belong in the halls of Congress. But they do. And they know the spoils system all too well, which they are determined to protect.&lt;/p&gt;&#xD;

&lt;p&gt;On July 7, &lt;a href="http://www.nytimes.com/2009/07/12/magazine/12ginsburg-t.html?_r=2" title="The Place of Women on the Court"&gt;the New York Times Magazine&lt;/a&gt; published an interview with Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg titled "The Place of Women on the Court."  It quickly became a bolster for feminism and women's right to choose.  The statements Ginsburg makes in this interview are frankly, stunning.  Had a conservative male justice like Scalia made similar comments from his viewpoint it would be all you had heard about for the past few days, but Ginsburg's comments probably won't make your evening news.&lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
&lt;p&gt;First, Ginsburg reveals some racist themes while discussing Roe v. Wade and the Hyde Amendment, upheld in a 1980 court decision, which restricts Medicaid use for abortions.  Justice Ginsburg says: "There will never be a woman of means without choice anymore…So we have a policy that affects only poor women.  Frankly I had thought that at the time Roe was decided, there was concern about population growth and particularly growth in populations that we don't want to have too many of."  In short, Ginsburg thinks that Roe is, in part, about controlling the poor population in America (Hello China?); a thought process she further reveals by saying: "I still think…that the possibility of stopping a pregnancy very early is significant.  The morning-after pill will become more accessible and easier to take."  &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
&lt;p&gt;Next, she speaks about against state laws banning or restricting abortions—10th Amendment be damned.  "It will be, it should be, that this is a woman's decision…So I think the side that wants to take the choice away from women and give it to the state, they're fighting a losing battle.  Time is on the side of change."&lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
&lt;p&gt;Americans should be terrified of a sitting Justice who makes such bigoted statements and statements that clearly oppose the Constitution.  Furthermore, President Obama has nominated a Supreme Court Candidate who would enthusiastically endorse Ginsburg's abortion views and has made some racist statements of her own (In 2001 Sotomayor said: “I would hope that a wise Latina woman with the richness of her experiences would more often than not reach a better conclusion than a white male who hasn’t lived that life.”).&lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
&lt;p&gt;It's even more amazing to me that Justice Ginsburg can make these statements in a national magazine without public outcry.  They clearly reveal that she has an agenda…an agenda that will not be thwarted by the facts of the case before her or the Constitution itself.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="feedflare"&gt;

&lt;p&gt;In light of Governor Sarah Palin’s surprising resignation on Friday, I thought it appropriate (and a bit therapeutic) to share some thoughts from a woman’s perspective-a perspective that is consistently challenged by women like Sarah Palin.  I must admit for the sake of transparency that I am a Sarah Palin fan.  She has shortcomings, but as a Christian woman I admire her tenacity and willingness to unashamedly profess her religious and conservative beliefs whether talking about fiscal responsibility or social issues. I can’t help but like her. &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
&lt;p&gt;Let me also say that am not speculating on the Governor’s decision, as there are a number of possibilities.  But her resignation speech reminded me of questions I struggle with on a regular basis:  What is the role of a Christian woman in regard to balancing career and family?  Are women emotionally designed for high positions of power?  What does the Bible say about all of this anyway? &lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
&lt;p&gt;I am reminded of the &lt;a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2r9g62aaRlI"&gt;video by respected pastor John Piper&lt;/a&gt; in which he clearly states his disapproval of Governor Palin’s decision to run for vice-president.  Take a look (his comments about the Governor are in the beginning; however, the entire video is interesting).&lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
&lt;p&gt;My original reaction is to be completely offended by his statements.  I mean, who is John Piper (a man nonetheless) to say that Sarah Palin should stay at home with her disabled child (which I found even more offensive because it was as if he were exploiting the fact the child was disabled to make a point), and who is he to say that a woman should not command the Army?  Good grief, we all know that throughout history men haven’t always made the best decision in this area.  And, is the pastor implying that Sarah Palin should not be a Governor?  Governing a state also yields a great deal of power (including power over the state’s National Guard), is that also too much responsibility for a woman to undertake?&lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
&lt;p&gt;Then, as most Christian women, I begin to question my motives.  Maybe I’m the one with the problem. More specifically, have I fallen into the trap of what the world says I should base my value upon which (among other things) is a career and my ability to ‘shatter the glass ceiling’?  Maybe as a Christian woman I am no different than any other woman.  I want to believe that nothing is more important than faith and family, but maybe I don’t really believe it.  If I did, I wouldn’t be dealing with these issues….right?&lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
&lt;p&gt;Thankfully, the Bible comes to the rescue.&lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&#xD;

&lt;p&gt; &lt;a href="http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Proverbs+31:10-31"&gt;Take a look at the woman described in Proverbs 31&lt;/a&gt;.  What I see portrayed in this passage is a woman of clear moral character and wisdom.  Whether tending to her home or to her work, this woman exemplifies compassion and strength.  She is not meek, weak or passive. She is clearly not confined to tending only to her home; however, this woman does not neglect her home or her family in an effort to further her status or career.  She is given great responsibility over many things.  Most importantly, this woman’s thoughts and actions are guided by the authority of God and not strictly by her own personal ambitions.&lt;/p&gt;&#xD;
&lt;p&gt;The woman described in Proverbs 31 is a woman worth admiring.  I still struggle with the questions I mentioned earlier, and I am challenged daily to apply the qualities of the Proverbs 31 woman to my own life; but I know that God has given women the capability to do great things whether at home, in the workplace or even in politics.  To me, this includes holding positions of earthly power as long as it is not at the stake of losing her most precious gift, her family. &lt;/p&gt;&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;&#xD;
