Random Flight Mode Activation

My wife's 6800 seems to enjoy changing to flight mode from time to time for no apparent reason at all. Being a Realtor this is most irritating since it does not warn or tell her when it changed to Flight Mode....

Being a frequent traveller I understand it purpose, but can it be disabled or made to require additional keystrokes to prevent accidentally going into this mode??

power problem - hardware?

Are you paying Verizon $4.99/month for insurance? Check your bill. If you are, just call them up. You don't have to take it to their store. They will ship a replacement to your house. Back up all your data as soon as possible.

In the meantime, have you tried removing the storage card and seeing if the battery holds a charge longer? It could be the sweat got into the slot since it would be the easiest place for it to enter. Get a can of compressed air from Radio Shack, remove the battery and start spraying any area you can that might get inside the phone, including the storage card slot. Pay attention to the area between the sliding sections for the keyboard.

power problem - hardware?

Hi, i'm having a power problem with my xv6800 that I would love to fix!

What happened was, I took it running and had it tucked into my sports bra. As a result, it got a bit sweaty there. 8-/

Not sure it that's related, but later that day I noticed that the battery had discharged and was giving me an alarm rather early in the day, after i had charged it all night.

the next few days, the battery would be discharged earlier and earlier in the day. I would have to keep it alive by plugging into my computer and charging via usb. eventually, the battery held no charge and the phone would shut down whenever I unplugged it.

Eventually, the phone wouldn't even stay on when plugged into the pc via usb.

So i ordered a new battery, installed it, charged it and it made no difference! same problems there

The only way i can get it on now is if its plugged into a regular AC wall outlet.

This leads me to think that there something inside that is draining power...maybe a short somewhere? Caused by moisture from my run?

Anybody offer any help/ideas/general direction? I'm not afraid to open this thing up and poke around, but would be grateful for a little experienced direction on where to look and what to look for.

Plllleeeeze? I would be eternally grateful!

What light are you talking about? There is one LED that will keep flashing when you have a signal for your phone. Is that it? if so, get a program called neuled and reprogram your LEDs.

My recommendations for Neuled:

Disable Addr 8 (Signal)

redirect addr 2 (Notification) to addr 20 mode 1

disable addr 20 (Bluetooth)

This will turn off the incessant signal found flashing yellow LED and the bluetooth LED, which does not just signal when you have bluetooth connection, but all the time it is turned on. Worthless.

Then, if you have a missed call, voicemail or email, the blue light will flash. Clear it with the program, RESET LEDS in the Extra tab.

Obviously, you are on Verizon. They have done something to the server that communicates with your phone that requires activation of VZNavigator at $10/month in order for the agps to work on your phone.

Saving SMS text messages-Help!

Can anyone PLEASE tell me if you know of any software compatible with xv6800 that allows one to save all sent and received text messages? I am so tired of having Verizon's technical support staff telling me that I should cc myself everytime I send a text message and do the same with text messages received. That is such a pathetic waste of time. Why is this type of software not available to the public?

I am really sorry I switched my Treo for an xv6800 because I use SMS text messaging all the time at work, with students, and colleagues. I hate talking on the phone. That's for teenagers and tweens, not for busy adults. The Treo had the Treodesktop that allowed one to save all text messages. It was developed by an Italian engineer. Please tell me if there is any SMS text message saving software that is compatible with this xv6800. Thanks!

Light stays on

I'm a newbie here and to the XV6800. The internet explorer light on my 6800 will not turn off. Even when I pull the battery or turn it fully off. Does that mean that function is staying on? Is it draining the battery even when off? The light is on all the time. Thanks

the loading icon is attacking

i am having problems with the loading icon on my phone

(the animated box with circle with windows logo colors)

it flashes on and off about 8 time then i can go about my  business

there is no running programs or minimal stuff like sms and active sync

i thought it might be some kind of phone virus so i did a clear memory

that solved the problem now i have to figure out what application was causing it

Getting GPS to work with MR2 ROM

This is insane. I could have built a new deck at my house in less time than it takes to get this GPS running.

I have wiped my phone out and started from scratch with MR1. Does anyone have instructions to get this thing running?

I've been reading for house and trying things for days and every thread I see has something different.

XV6800 locks up when the "s" key is used

About a week ago, whenever I try composing a text message, if I press the "s" key - my phone locks up - both on the keypad and the on-screen keypad - I have to soft-reset to get the phone to work -any ideas?

Of course, make sure location on is set in your phone settings. You have valhalla, then try this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3555579&postcount=703. After installing it, do a *611 and do the reconfigure. it should work after that.

I've been researching for days and can not figure out how to get the GPS to work with Google Maps. I have an xv6800 with the MR2 ROM. I installed Vahalla and tweaked the registry but zippo.

There's lots of great things out here but I have not see if anyone has gotten GPS to work on MR2... and how you do it.

sync problems

When I try to sync, the new computers recognise the phone, but never are able to connect. It synched fine all of the time with the old comuter. I did get it to sync once a couple of months ago with the new ocmputer (but ti did not download my pics, saying I needed Window media Player 7 - what is up with that?). Using the trouble shooting window that pops up yields nothing. In addition, when the phone is connected to the computer, the computer will not connect to the internet. I suspect that there is a setting I need to change on the phone, but I havent changed a thing. It might be clear by now that I'm not a techy.

The Battery may not appear to be loose but it still could be. Try a small piece of a paper towel between the back cover and the battery. I remember having that problem with my first 6800, and the paper towel did the trick. Can't hurt to try.

Anyone had this problem? My phone just started freezing the other day (only way to get it to come back on was a soft reset). It only did this when the screen was off and I would try to push the power button and nothing! Later I found out that even with the green flashing light on no calls were getting through. Now after a while of soft resets the phone is resetting on its own very regularly even in the middle of phone calls. I don't know if it is a battery problem because it's not loose and seems to be making good contact. I did a hard reset and it still does the reset/ freeze any suggestions?

Or you can erase the verizon wireless by going to connections then advanced thenselect networks then edit under verizon wireless then tap and hold on data network#777 and a delete option will appear select that then the data network will disappear then hit general on the bottom left corner of the screen it will show verizon wireless and give a delete settings option tap that then it will ask if our sure tap yes. Done then my isp will take Vzw place until you have to do a soft reset then it will revert to Vzw in the #1 spot. Works for me and WIFi works great.

Its the program memory (ram) on the right that matters. I have the same problem. The Omnia wont have a problem because it has double the ram.

I really like how Opera works, but have resorted to using skyfire because it doesnt give any errors, and is much faster than Opera. Plus it support flash, so you can go directly to youtube and play video with sound just as if you were on your home computer. The zooming in and out isnt as nice as opera wich is my biggest gripe, but its Beta, and free.

text message keeps re sending problem

I've had the same issue twice before, both times in extremely patchy service areas. I think the phone tries to ping the tower and send the message but the low amount of reception didn't allow for successful sending of the message. Unfortunately, I don't have a solution for you.

I have contacted both Verizon and PCD(HTC/UTStarcom) about the availablity of 6.5. PCD says that Verizon is responsible for the announcement, if any, and they cannot comment. Verizon told me they are unable to comment on the future availability and timing of MR3 as that is not their policy. I suspect this means any such update would be > 6 months off.
