Jacques Greene - Lay It Down (UNO002)

2011-07-03T04:29:00.000-07:00

Right, let's talk about some music again.

Second serving from New York's UNO imprint, featuring Jacques Greene on a wickedly bent acid tip. In contrast to the fancied House of his 'Another Girl' and 'The Look' hits, 'Lay It Down' is more rugged and acid tweaked, almost like Levon Vincent going toe-to-toe with Maurice Donovan. Remix reinforcements meanwhile come from Whatever/Whatever, furnishes the groove with more muscular bass and warehouse-ready cowbells, and then there's 'What Are You Feelin'?', a signature and much in-demand JG cut which has been in circulation with Mary Anne Hobbs and the Night Slugs posse for some time already. Class 12".

Fantastic release of swung, good vibes house with intricate details in the percussion and punchy frequencys coming from the bass. Big up Jacques Greene once again.

Got my degree classification through today.

BA with First Class honours, in Graphic Design. At your service, ladies and gentlemen.

I like the buttery biscuit base.

Apologise to all comments on the last post who I have not replied to, I will get round to it tomorrow, I promise!

Suddenly, Summer!

2011-06-27T02:16:00.000-07:00

I need to apologise for my weekend of inactivity, summer arrived unannounced. (How rude of it.)

Check this picture I took with my phone, not a single cloud!

My tan is pretty awesome right now though....

Anyway I have a really dope video for you. It's not long and trust it'll leave you going "wow, that was next level"

2011-06-24T03:22:00.000-07:00

So my favorite game is now FREE TO PLAY, biggup Valve on that one. Not sure if I like or dislike this move yet, guess we will find out in a week or so's time. It'll either ruin the game or it wont change it at all. I'm hoping for the latter, obviously.

For those who have an interest in gaming, but havn't played TF2, its really worth checking out. Double so now is free!

Linky Here to TF2 site.

Also: Valve (the makers of TF2) recently ran a move competition award thing. There was about 20 different catagorys and all of them are equally awesome, my favorite is below. It's only a minute long, check it!

Some chilled dubby house.

2011-06-22T15:24:00.000-07:00

Summer is here.... 28 degrees on sunday (which is awesome for the UK!) and the vibes are rolling.

This track is so soothing but progressive. Makes me want to go for a long late night drive around a empty metropolis...

Such a good tune, the dubbed out guitar progressions are so sublime...

You guys like it?

Soul and Funk Friday!

2011-06-17T02:50:00.000-07:00

Always got time for a bit of funk. It makes nice punctuation in between all the house and techno I normally listen to. Plus, I like to broaded my horizons.

More people should broaded their horizons. Try to listen to somthing new every week!

FACT Mag - 20 best: Grime

2011-06-15T02:52:00.000-07:00

Now normally when people mention grime music the standard assumptions come to mind - rough aggressive lyrics, a dangerous music scene where artists are more than willing to physically hurt (and some cases kill or shoot at) other atists, and lots of beef.

A ya know, while this is true in a way - i mean, no smoke without fire after all - but im beginning to descover another side to grime. Or at least, dig in under the shell and research it a bit more.

Fact Magazine recently put up a great article titled "20 Best: Grime" - its a great way to get some proper first hand knowledge of the genre, rather than some rude boy from Reading offering to shoot you with his gat.

Article here - 20 Best: Grime

If you don't read the article, at least check this tune:

Lo-fi instrumentals that sound like they’re lost in the snow – grime’s romantic side never quite came out like it did here. Widely unknown gems for years (‘Funktions on the Low’ was wrongly uploaded to Limewire as Ruff Sqwad – ‘Havana’ back in day, and so it’s still often miscredited).

I've started uStreaming!

2011-06-13T13:04:00.000-07:00

So now i'm hooked up on the Technics 1210's (See my earlier post!) I decided to start doing some uStreaming!

I'm really impressed actually, the video quality is decent enough, and the audio quality is great for a live stream - but best of all, you CAN RECORD! How awesome is that? And it lets you save it forever!

So, ladies and gents - I give you: ME, making a tit out of myself on camera on the turntables.

Had really good fun recording this - all completely unplanned, which got funnier as time went on and I drunk more beers.

Sure was funny! It all gets a bit 80's about 1 hour 20 in!

Being Typically English: Part 2

2011-06-12T14:29:00.000-07:00

So yeh, carrying on from my last post I have a few more photos to share.

The afternoon was lovely, and the weather turnt out fantastic.

The cakes were light and sweet, but very, very rich.

Also, expensive!

Hope you enjoy them :)

Being typically English: Part 1

2011-06-11T12:27:00.000-07:00

So, it was my mothers birthday and because we are so typically English we went for tea. At a big country house.

I took a bunch of photos and i'll share some with you over the next few days, but trust me this place was proper "high society" - I felt well out of place!

Just hit 100 followers!

2011-06-09T15:14:00.000-07:00

Huge eruption on the sun!

2011-06-08T15:34:00.000-07:00

Anyone else see this? It's truely amazing and beautiful, nature at her finist!

Worth watching if you have a spare 30 seconds. It's not long.

So I picked up a pair of these today....

2011-06-07T16:33:00.000-07:00

My first set of 1210's! So stoked on these right now.

I could write a massive review on these things but if anyone knows anything about turntables you've heard it all before. These decks are like easy mode mixing i swear. Really impressed.

Got them 2nd hand but they seriously look brand new, theyve come in much better condition than i had expected.

I'll get a better photo tomorrow, camera phone doesnt work so bad in low light!

Also: new handlebars.

What song are you listening too; London Version

Austin Peralta - Endless Planets

2011-06-05T15:43:00.000-07:00

Who likes jazz?

Yeh so I know this album has been out for ages now but I had a moment earlier whereby I went through some music from earlier on in the year and fell back in love with it.

These guys are out on the brain feeder label so you know its good stuff, and probably not what you're expecting. The particular track i've linked, Algiers, is 13 minutes of pure mesmerizing awesomeness.

I seriously recommend anyone whos into modern or older jazz, or anyone familar with a Brainfeeder label to check it out!

Sony hacked.... again.

2011-06-04T13:26:00.000-07:00

Sony hacked again, 1M passwords hit

Hackers struck anew against Sony, breaking into the website of its movie arm Sony Pictures and posting the stolen data online.

LulzSec, which had earlier broken into the sites of Sony Music Japan and Public Broadcasting Service earlier, claimed to have compromised the private data of over a million Sony Pictures customers.

Original article here.

The reason I am posting this is because I'd like to raise awareness of internet security. Also of people simply don't know you even need security, let alone that their information is vulnerable.

This really is the next battlegroumd, and the blackhat hackers will steal more and more data as the years progress. Hacking used to be reserved for corporate espionage but now I think we will start to see hackers taking advantage of systems for their own gain - remember, many hacker groups have stated that the REAL pro's can do it without being detected, and groups that go public do so only for political purposes. People should be lucky this time it was too make a point and not profit!

Maybes,

2011-06-03T02:38:00.000-07:00

Yo,

So i'm just simply posting this tune today, Please if you have 5 minutes listen to it with your eyes closed, preferably on a big system or with good headphones. It'll change your life.

This track, this production duo - so much pressure and vibes from these guys.

Wow, these photos are truly amazing. Taken by British photographer Charlie Crane who got a VERY rare chance to photograph ordinary people inside the media blackhole.

This is a set of some of the most powerful images i've seen in a very long time.
