My first foray into mixed media was exploring how to create an art journal. Maintaining an art journal will be critical to my growth as an artist and a person, and will give me a chance to document my time and show me the evolution of my style and techniques. So today it begins with the cover of my new journal (aka a converted sketchbook).

Art goddess Suzi Blu has created her own social network on ning.com that’s all about making art! If you’re on it or looking to sign up, add me as a friend! Her social network also seems to be working well as a hub for her online workshops, which I just signed up for (the “les petite dolls” one). Can’t wait! Also hoping to get a bit of time today to work on my Inspire Me Thursday piece, which I hope to post (late) tonight

Off Topic: I’m Featured in the St. Edward’s University Magazine

So this is a bit off topic for my fledgling art blog, but I of course had to blog about this: I came out in an article in the Winter issue of the St. Edward’s University Magazine (my alma mater and employer) about the blog I did when I was a student, PR Media Maven, and how it opened doors for me. I’m on page 27!

Mixed Media Art for my Mom

This piece will be given to my mom for Christmas – a lovely mixed media painting of her, my angel!

Inspired by Kelly Rae Roberts’ book “Taking Flight: Inspiration & Techniques to give your Creative Spirit Wings“. The work above is definitely Kelly’s style but I think I adapted it to my own pretty well.
