A Couple of Recommendations

Although I use/test a large number of products, when I come across items which make the grade, I can't shout about them loud enough.

I love a good shower product - smell and texture are important to me, along with how well the product moisturises my skin. Nobody wants to be left with dry tight feeling skin due to the product they've used in the shower. I like Soap and Glory products and was looking forward to trying their new Whipped Clean Shower Butter. Their Flake Away scrub is always in my bathroom and so I had high hopes for this - and wasn't disappointed.

Whipped Clean is a thick creamy shower/butter in one and smells heavenly. Made up of 25% moisture oils and butters including sweet almond oil, macadamia nut oil, sweet almond oil and cocoa and shea butters it lathers up a treat and leaves skin smelling good (this smells of sweet vanilla, pistachio and almond - yum!) and leaving skin feeling pampered. I love how the smell takes over the bathroom, and it's also nice and bubbly. Apparently this also smells similar to their Smoothie Star products, I haven't tried those so can't pass comment on how accurate that is.

Soap & Glory go as far to suggest skipping using body moisturiser as it's so hydrating. I wouldn't go that far, but then I don't skip a day without using it. Not the cheapest product in at £8, but certainly not overly excessive given just how good a product it is. Find it here on the Boots site.

Next up, the St Ives Timeless Skin Daily Microdermabrasion Face Scrub is a product I'd highly recommend to those looking for a new addition to their skincare routine which won't break the bank. Microdermabrasion is a treatment known to reduce the appearance of fine lines and improve the texture of the skin. Dead skin is sloughed away to reveal newer, smoother skin with regular use. St Ives provide the effects of this popular treatment for a fraction of the price - just £4.99 and it lasts weeks!

Gentle enough for daily use, I find this scrub allows me to give my face an intense clean without fear of aggravation. It really does rid me of any dry, congested looking skin and leaves my skin feeling smooth and plumped which in turn makes my make up look better. Again this also lathers up without drying my skin, which has become oilier with the milder weather.

Needless to say, these two additions have now been added to the extensive list of products which I'll buy again and again.

My quest for improved fitness and weight loss continues with a week of intense classes at Barry Bootcamp commencing next week - watch out for my whining tweets!

I'm still in the grips of this fitness kick and have been on the look out for some new fitness gear. I don't know about you, but when I'm kitted out in new clobber, I feel more motivated to work my toosh off, when working out. All too often I visit the usual suspects when it comes to buying sportswear, the popular sports shops, or failing that I check out Ebay hoping to bag a bargain.

Zalando has a huge range of sportswear and is home to dozens of brands such as Nike, Adidas, Reebok, ASICS, The North Face and Puma to name a few. It also stocks lesser known brands which cater for all pockets. In addition to that, sporting equipment for activities such as cycling, yoga, hiking, football are available on the website too.

A couple of weeks ago, I had my heart set on a Nike hoody which I had spotted on the official Nike site. It turned out to be cheaper in the Zalando sale, which I was estatic about as my umming and aahing resulted in it selling out before I had a chance to buy it.. It has a cool quilted-like diamond texture to it and has discreet reflectors to keep me visible in the dark on the hood strings, back, pocket edges and on the zips. It also has extended material on the sleeves which my hands go through which will be handy on chilly nights.

Now I couldn't stop at a new hoody, oh no...I decided that I needed some new kicks to compliment it. So after three days of anal browsing and comparing, I settled for a pair of NIke Tri Fit 3 in Turquoise (which have since sold out but you can request to be informed when your/if your size comes back in stock).

They arrived on Monday and I am in love. They feel so light on my feet, I feel as if I'm walking on air, very comfortable. They're amazing - bold, brash, and super bright! I have no excuse to get run over, ever, whilst wearing these, you can spot me coming a mile off! I'm already eyeing up another pair - neon running trainers are the way forward!

MAC Archie's Girl - Prom Princess Blush.

It's no secret that I own enough M.A.C products to make a trail from Central London to East Croydon and back but these days I'm totally out of the loop when it comes to MAC limited edition collections. How times have changed eh?

I ignored the Archie's Girls collection when it was released, but a half hearted browse at a MAC counter at the weekend, resulted in an unexpected purchase. After trying to engage my friends in a game of 'Name the MAC eyeshadow', I was drawn to a pretty looking blush on the Archie's Girls display.

The quirky limited edition packaging isn't to my personal taste, but I can overlook it.

Prom Princess blush is described a "mid tone violet pink" and comes in a satin finish. I'm very impressed with the potential colour pay off considering it's a satin finish, but initial application leaves a subtle wash of colour. This can be layered up and intensified with repeated buffing and blending. It was love at first swatch, as I admired the lovely sheen on my hand, which dazzled as it hit the lights of the department store ceiling.

I bought the last one, which was further confirmation in my eyes, that this purchase was meant to be. It leaves a natural looking flush of colour to the cheeks which is great for a daytime look without the fuss.

On a side note, knowing full well I'd have next to no chance of securing this so late from a MAC store, I paid full price as MAC Pro cards aren't accepted in department stores. Errr when did MAC start charging £19 for a blush?! Jeez...

NEW! Neutrogena Visibly Clear Pore & Shine Range

I've mentioned before how much I like Neutrogena Visibly Clear skincare. I find it both affordable and effective and it's usually the first brand to roll off my tongue when I'm asked for affordable skincare recommendations.

I was interested to hear that they're launching a new range which seeks to tackle two issues in one - enlarged pores and shiny skin. The range was created in response to customer feedback, so has no doubt made a few fans happy. The range is small, there are just two products at the moment - a face wash and face scrub.

My oily/combo/sensitive (jeez, it's a mess!) skin is prone to shine by lunch time, particularly if I don't use a primer or the weather's warm, so I'm all for any products which will help combat the dreaded 'oil slick' look which creeps up onto my t-zone.

I like the scent of these - tangerine and lime anyone? They smell fruity and refreshing. The gel face wash lathers up upon contact with water and the scrub contains small granules, I personally don't find them to be abrasive on contact with my skin. I get confused with pores, I don't think mine are huge so I haven't noticed a distinct difference with those as yet but I have found that I've required fewer touch ups since I've started to use these products, so the mattifying effect is working, which is great. I was a bit worried that I'd find the range drying but luckily it hasn't had that side-effect at all.

Both priced at £4.49, they won't burn a hole in your pocket and even better, they're both currently on offer at Boots for £2.99, so now's the perfect time to try them.

Feeling Fruity with the Phillips Avance

So much for my blogging resolution, eh? I've been extremely distracted of late, but hey, I'm here now, so let's get back to business.

If you follow me on Instagram you'll know that I've recently I've made a few lifestyle changes, overhauling my diet and incorporating some much needed exercise into my routine. My main reasons for this, are I want (need) to lose some weight and I'm also sick of having the equivalent to an asthma attack when I reach the top of a flight of stairs!

I've been using the Phillips Avance juicer for two weeks now (I received it in October, I don't know what took me so long to get it out of the box) and as a result of the fresh juices I've whizzed up, I'm feeling much more energetic. I make a large jug of juice, having a glass for breakfast and another when I get in from work. MAC Strength Lipsticks - Party Parrot, Strong Woman and Pink Pigeon.

When the MAC Strength collection launched in the UK, a few weeks ago, I couldn't ring MAC mail order fast enough to place my order.

I knew exactly what I wanted and bought three out of the five available lipsticks and a lip liner.

All the lipsticks in the Strength collection are matte and as I've discovered are quite difficult to remove, so I haven't find staying power an issue! Suprisingly they're not as drying on the lips as I'd expected. I quite like bright matte lipsticks and find them easier to wear than other formulas.

PARTY PARROT is a bright pink-coral with a matte finish. Despite being matte it has a creamy texture and doesn't drag on the skin of the lips during application.

STRONG WOMAN is a dark purple which has bright undertones. It has opaque coverage, again with a matte finish and applies smoothly.

PINK PIGEON is a super bright, blue-based pink with a matte finish. I find that blue-based fuschia's suit my skin tone quite well, so I had to buy this. This lasted for approx five hours when I wore it yesterday afternoon - despite eating and drinking.

Overall I'm really impressed with these lipsticks. As I mentioned, I was a bit dubious about the finish as all my other matte lipsticks from MAC are drying and not the most comfortable to wear but these have really impressed me. I'm very pleased with my purchases.

The Bar of Areo - Revisited.

Chocolate and make up - two of my favourite things. No make up in this post, but I am going to be talking chocolate! Last last year, confectionery favourite Aero launched a three day 'Bubble Bar' at the Truman Brewary in Brick Lane.

The masses braved the chilly weather to sample yummy Aero hot chocolate and play with peppermint scented bubbles. Stiff upper lips were left at the door as the public frolicked about and indulged in spontaneous fun. Entry was free and visitors had they chance to win prizes ranging from free chocolate (naturally), to spa weekends.

Chocolate lovers are encouraged to whip up yummy treats, using Aero and here's a simple recipe for you to try out.

CHOCOLATE MINT AERO MOUSSE

Serves 4

Ingredients:
120g Mint Chocolate Aero, broken into cubes
2 digestive biscuits, crushed
15g butter, melted
8 marshmallows
200g low fat natural yoghurt (or whipping cream)
1 egg white, whisked

1. Crush the digestive biscuits and add to melted butter and 1 crushed cube Mint Chocolate Aero, mix well and place into the bottom of 4 shot glasses.
2. Reserve another piece of Mint Chocolate Aero for grating.
3. Place the remaining aero into a small bowl and microwave for 1 ½ minutes. (750w). Add the marshmallows and microwave for another 30 seconds.
4. Whisk in ¾ of the yogurt and then fold in the whisked egg white.
5. Pour the mixture into shot glasses and leave to chill in the fridge.
6. Once set, top with the remaining yoghurt and sprinkle reserved grated Aero on top.

Happy Days - Rihanna to Collaborate with M.A.C

So the make-up Gods have finally got their act together, answered my prayers and bought M.A.C cosmetics and Rihanna together!

As WWD reported early yesterday morning, Rihanna will collaborate with M.A.C and release four colour collections throughout the year. The first product we’ll see is MAC RiRi Woo - a lipstick inspired by the bestseller, Ruby Woo lipstick. This will launch to coincide with her concerts taking place in New York on May 4-5 and you'll be able to buy it online and at the concerts - M.A.C will be setting up a pop-up shop to sell it from.

The collection will be called RiRi (Hearts) MAC and include a total of 31 products. The summer collection will be sold online, and will include two additional lipsticks, lustre drops, and a blush duo. The third will be in stores for Autumn and feature 16 products, such as lipsticks, a lipglass version of RiRi Woo, eye shadow palettes, and false lashes. The final collection will be in-stores in time for Christmas with ten products, such as nail polish, makeup bags, and more lipsticks. RiRi Woo will be sold in all four collections.

I can't wait! I just know I'll spend a small fortune on this collection. I've resigned myself to this fact and have accepted my fate like the faithful make up fan that I am. My only minute gripe is with the packaging, it's not what I'd envisaged (I think it looks a bit cheap) but I'm prepared to overlook it.

Sounds too good to be true to me. I've been using it for little under a week so far, applying it underneath my moisturiser and serum of choice. You don't need to apply a large amount at all and I find squeezing a small blob into my hand covers my entire face sufficiently. I take care to apply a moisturiser with SPF after use too.

Pepta-bright doesn't contain any harmful ingredients known to frequent many products aimed at tackling pigmentation or brightening skin tones, such as hydroquinone, kojic acid and mercury.

I'm sceptical, I've been here before, having worked myself up into a frenzy in the past over a product which claims to tackle all the issues I have with my skin. I've used it dutifully, as instructed and have seen less than impressionable results over an extended period of time.

This freezing weather is showing no signs of diminishing anytime soon, but that's fine as I'm winning the war against any possible damage that could be made to my skin as a result of the constant change of temperature it's being exposed to.

Here are more of the products I've been relying on to get me through the cold snap.

1. Neutrogena Intense Repair Body Balm - £5.39

I've never understood people who say they don't need to moisturise their bodies. I assume these are the people who then go on to have cracked knees and elbows which resemble the chalky white cliffs of Dover! You all know I love a good body moisturiser and I'd heard a lot about this product prior to trying it out.. Neutrogena produce excellent skincare for great value and their bodycare is no exception. I love how this leaves my skin moisturised all day, despite it being quite light for a balm and it does a great job without feeling heavy - I hate having to break a sweat just trying to rub in body cream! This is perfect for those who suffer from very dry or irritated skin as it promises to leave it feeling smoother and softer.

2. Skinceuticals Emollience - £55

I've been using this as a day moisturiser (over sunscreen) for the past few weeks and I'm very impressed. It sinks in beautifully, leaving my skin feeling plump and hydrated all day long. It's not cheap, but I would buy this as a special treat as I've had no problems with dryness at all during this cold snap we've had. It's also great for using on flights or after a bout of late nights to freshen and boost the skin. Formulated with an exclusive selection of seven natural extracts and lipids, inclusing Brazilian marine extracts it deeply nourishes the skin to help restore and maintain moisture throughout the day. This can be used once or twice a day and is to be applied to the face, neck and chest - I don't apply it to my chest though, it's too expensive to waste on that!

3. Clinique Moisture Surge Overnight Mask- £28

It's easy for skin to succumb to the effects of being exposed to icy winds one minute and adverse heat in the form of central heating the next. Our poor skin really takes a battering during the winter months. In an effort to maintain my skins hydration levels, I've been including this in my winter skincare regime. This isn't your typical face mask, in the sense that it's not a slap on, and rinse off job. It's applied liberally to the skin like a moisturiser and absorbs as such. Overnight it works its magic and you wake up with soft, moisturised skin. It's non-greasy and leaves me with no dry patches. Great for those lazy nights when you can't be bothered to faff about removing a more traditional face mask. You can use this every night if you wish or as often as you'd like.

I must add that as well as the products I'm using, guzzling water and taking daily supplements has helped immensely too.

I'm not really one for whacking out a load of Valentines posts - they become a bit tiresome to read and end up putting me off all pink and red lip products for the next six months. I did however, think this was worthy of a quick mention.

Review: Sofitel Essaouira Golf & Spa , Morocco (Photo Heavy)

The follow up to my initial post, sharing my visit to Morocco, courtesy of Sofitel has been a long time coming (the understatement of 2013 so far), and the current chilly weather has certainly reminded me where I'd rather be at the moment! You can read my original post for a quick recap of the trip so far.

So after being suitably impressed by the luxury of the Sofitel hotel in Marrakesh, I didn't think I could be wowed any further, but how wrong was I? As we began our two hour journey to Essaouira, I was taken in by the sights - I even spotted a windstorm in the desert. It was so surreal. Just a few hours earlier I'd landed back in London from a girly holiday in Turkey, so to say at this point, I was exhausted was an understatement.

The Sofitel Essaouira Golf & Spa resort recently opened and it soon become apparent why Sofitel were so keen to show it off. We were warmly greeted upon arrival, served a traditional herbal tea and taken to our rooms which were to be our haven for the next two nights.

My room was spectacular. Spacious, airy, with all the mod cons you'd expect, including a great sound system by Bose, iPod dock, a mounted widescreen TV and a huge balcony, from which I could spy the Atlantic ocean in the far distance! My open plan bathroom was stocked with both Hermes and L'Occitane toiletries and I had the indulgence of enjoying both a deep marble bath and a large walk in shower.

Oh and don't get me started on my bed, which was officially the comfiest bed I've had the pleasure of sleeping in, in my life. The decor wasn't all to my personal taste, but it suited the resort perfectly and gave a huge nod to the rich Moroccan culture.

The grounds also boasts 26 private villas which are available to book, two of which have been exclusively deisgned by Lacoste. You can check out one of them below.

You'll never go hungry at the Sofitel Essaouira Golf & Spa as it's home to four restaurants and two bars, all manned by some of the best staff I've ever come across. They go above and beyond to make you feel welcome and at ease and are a true credit to the Sofitel brand.

I couldn't wait to see what the hotel spa had to offer and I got the chance to check it out when I was treated to a traditional hammam treatment. The spa stocks products from Clarins and Cing Mondes, as well as their own line of products and offer a wide range of treatments. It's decor is tranquil, yet decadent and is the perfect addition to the hotel's other facilities.

Now my first experience of a Hammam bath was quite a surprise . For a start, I was completely starkers! Yes, I unexpectedly ended up in my birthday suit and didn't quite know what to do with myself. I had a complete "Oh. Em. Gee!" moment. Luckily it was just me in there, but I couldn't relax properly as I had one eye on the door at all times ready to cover my modesty if needed! It was dark, hot, wet and steamy - not so hot that I thought I was in danger of passing out though. I stayed in there for approximately 10 minutes, before throwing my robe back on and wandering into the next room for my treatment.

My therapist, ever the professional didn't bat an eyelid (thank God I was freshly waxed!) as she motioned for me to climb up onto a large slate tiled bench and lie down. She expertly lathered my body from head to toe (no paper knickers 'ere mate!) with olive rich black soap. I was then exfoliated within an inch of my life - at times I had to grimace a little as she buffed me from top to bottom using a bamboo mitt. She then rinsed off the soapy lather with warm water using a large wooden bowl.

No here's where my treatment went a little awry. I was then expecting to then be drenched in aromatic oils to deeply moisturise and soften my skin but it didn't happen. My skin at this point was completely parched and screaming for moisture but I had to make do with dashing back to my room and slapping a rich moisturiser all over. A disappointing end to what had started off as a unique treatment. I can only imagine it was a mistake on the part of the therapist. All in all, the treatment took 30 minutes.

As well as an equisite spa, the hotel also boasts a state of the art gym, with all the latest gym equipment, which is located in the same building. Oh and then there's the sprawling golf course, which we were let loose on, on our final morning. I'm not a golf fan, so won't pretend to know anything about the sport but we played a round with a group of youngsters, who were linked to a local children's charity which was quite an experience!

On our last day we also went on a walking tour of Essaouira, accompanied by a fantastic tour guide. Along with sharing his knowledge of the heritage of the area, we also learnt that its fishing port was the inspiration behind Alfred Hitchcock's infamous movie, The Birds. That I can believe as a seagull dutifully left its mark (literally) all over me. Yes, a seagull made the decision to desposit its excrement all over me!!! Despite bordering on a near breakdown, I managed to bring myself back from the brink of hysteria enough to enjoy exploring the local stalls and shops which sold a plethora of fabrics, jewellery (silver in particular was in abundance), spices, clothing and scents. Bartering in true traditional Moroccan style, is to be expected and you can pick up some real bargains if you stick to your guns.

I only wish I was able to stay longer. The resort is perfect for relaxing and getting away from it all. I stayed during high season (June) and at the time the price of my room was £248.90 per night or £254.09 including breakfast, which I'd highly recommend. Needless to say I had an amazing trip and my first experience of Morocco is one I won't forget.

Recent Purchases: Laura Mercier Candles

So on Christmas Day, instead of peeling the potatoes when I was supposed to, instead I was sprawled out on the sofa, laptop on lap, perusing the Space NK sale.

As a result of my procrastination and beady eye, yet more candles landed in my online basket and I'm now the owner of not one, but three Laura Mercier candles.

Originally I bought two of the Creme Brulees, but then I felt 'left out' (subtle enabling at its very worst) when I saw a couple of other bloggers talking about the Warm Roasted Chestnut scent, so I ordered that an hour later. As I type, I have it burning in the background and it's most definitely a winner! I was a bit unsure whether I'd like it, but it smells amazing. So rich and warm...a bit like erm, roasted chestnuts!

The Creme Brulee candle smells like erm...Creme Brulee (are we noticing an emerging pattern here?). Soft, sweet, sugary vanilla. Mmmm more please.

My only gripe is that nowhere on the site, or on the packaging does it state what their burning time is so I'm a bit reluctant to leave them burning for hours on end.

Blogging in 2013 - The Plan.

I hope you all had a lovely Christmas and that your start to 2013 has been a great one so far. After a few weeks off, I finally feel ready to get back to blogging.

Last year was a bit of a turbulent one, blog-wise for me. I lost momentum and struggled to find the time to blog as regularly as I've done in previous years. That coupled with the fact that my personal life took priority with the spare time I had, so it didn't leave me with much time to sit down for hours on end writing posts and editing photos (I hate editing photos). 2012 however, was one of the best years of my life in which so many memories were created with friends and family, so the good definitely outweighed the bad.

There's no denying that blogging has changed a lot, and whilst I've been very fortunate and have embraced the fantastic opportunities that have come my way as a result of talking endlessly about make up and skincare (come on, let's put things into perspective - we're not saving lives here), at times I've really felt the pressure to keep on top of the latest beauty releases and keep blogging 3-4 times a week and it just wasn't happening. That combined with the annoying, competitive side of blogging that is now rife within the beauty blogging community (it's here to stay folks!) turned me right off. All too often, after a stressful day at work, the last thing I felt like doing was going home and swatching a lipstick or writing about a face mask - I chose cocktails and belly laughs with the girls instead!

I've always promised myself that whenever I lost the spark to blog I'd stop - and stop I did, many a time in 2012. I don't see the point in churning out blog posts for the sake of it and believe that the lack of effort and enthusiasm felt will come across in the post. I don't blog full time, my blog is not my 'career' (I wish!) and there are only so many hours in the day that enable me to work, attend events (after work), write blog posts, edit photos and spend time with my family and friends. I also need to sleep too.

This year however, I'm full of positivity, aim to get back on track and plough ahead with the drive I had when I started Vex in the City in 2009. I'm armed with a pretty notebook and have started penning the many blog post titles I want to write up. I remember when I'd sit at my laptop for 3-4 hours at a time happily typing up blog posts and I want to regain that enthusiasm I had. So if that means I have to attend fewer events (to be fair, I scaled back on them a fair bit in 2012) in order to have time to blog in the evenings when I get home, then so be it.

My beauty habits have changed a lot since I started the blog. You'll no longer find me making up imaginary doctor appointments so that I can be first outside the MAC Pro store, the morning the latest limited collection has been released for a start! I recently misplaced my 'Greens/Blues' depotted MAC eye shadow palette (I still haven't found it, but think I know where it is) and haven't had to be checked into The Priory as a result of it going walkies! With that said, should I find you dipping into my blush collection, I will hurt you.

I'm pickier over what I buy, and have really enjoyed exploring many of the new brands I've been exposed to as a result of working with so many great PRs (thank you so much for your support over the past couple of years). I have so many of my own purchases to share - can you believe I still have a bag of Chanel products I haven't featured on the blog yet, which I bought months ago?! This year it's really important to me, to take my blog back to basics - it's all too easy for me to feature sample after sample. I have a personal stash that deserves to be in the spotlight and so I'll be making a conscious effort to include far more products that I've gone out and purchased myself, alongside the samples which I'm lucky enough to receive too.

Finally, I just want to say a big thank you to my regular readers who've stuck with me through thick and thin - I owe you like 45 blog posts, by mid February! Let's face it, my enthusiasm would probably have waned far sooner if I felt I'd been talking to myself for the past four years! Also a big hello to my new followers, I promise I'll make following Vex in the City worth your while ;-) I've met some fantastic people through blogging, both here and in the US of A and I look forward to meeting many more new faces in 2013.

Hmmm I realise I need to stick to this plan now, so I better get cracking. Good grief I can TALK! This post was only supposed to be three paragraphs long.

Winter Skin Soother - Nip+ Fab Dry Hand Fix

I don't know about you but my hands are really feeling the wrath of this wintry weather. A good hand moisturiser is a compulsory addition to my handbag all year round, and is a product that I take very seriously. Let's face it. nobody wants 'old lady hands' before their time.

I've had a few hand creams on rotation lately but my favourite by far has been Nip + Fab Dry Hand Fix. The sister brand of Rodial has come up trumps with this product from its more affordable skincare line.

I'd liken it to a balm, more than a lotion and find it doesn't leave a greasy, sticky residue which is a pet hate of mine when it comes to hand creams. Another bonus, is that it leaves my hands smelling delicious. I've had friends at work comment on the smell, no less than four times in the past fortnight. It has a sweet smell, reminiscent of coconut - yummy! Upon application it immediately soothes and hydrates dry skin. I don't have a problem with rough skin on my hands but at the moment if I don't moisturise within a few minutes of washing my hands, they do feel tight.

It nourishes further with an innovative concept called Aquaxyl™ which retains water loss and leaves hands super soft. I don't need to reapply if I'm out and about without my gloves, my hands don't feel dry in the freezing weather and remain moisturised until I have to wash them again.

Containing amino acids which brighten the skin over time, I have no complaints regarding the formula of this intensive hand cream. It absorbs so easily and I'm able to continue with whatever I'm doing and not waste time waiting for it to skin in or having to wipe off excess product. It hydrates like a dream and is all I want in a hand cream. It would be perfect it were a bit cheaper, but given that I've also been using hand creams which cost more and aren't performing half as well, it's worth every penny. When my tube has run out I'll be spending my own money and repurchasing it, so expect to see it in a future purchases post at some point in the future.

It also doubles up as a great foot cream too - great for soothing worn heels! Fantastic product.

I've a sucker for anything related to my star sign (I'm a Leo - in case it isn't obvious) and when I saw this new release from Estee Lauder a few weeks ago, a small yelp of joy just may have passed from my lips.

Every year since 1963, Estee Lauder has introduced a collection of limited-edition solid perfume and pressed powder compacts. This year they have released an elegant, yet playful collection of Zodiac inspired gold compacts.

The pressed powder enclosed in the compact is the Lucidity Translucent Pressed Powder which according to the Lauder website, "Gives skin a luminous finish that minimizes the look of lines and wrinkles."

To be honest, the only thing stopping me from treating myself to this personalised gift, is that I'm worried the powder may look ashy on me, despite being billed as translucent. Move over ASOS, with your faux promises of discount codes (go and have a look at the uproar on their Facebook page, after they withdraw a 20% off discount code, that they spent all morning spamming everyone's inbox with today), everybody knows that The Body Shop wins hands down and has the best online discounts.
