"The Internet was born with the first data message sent between two networked computers" between UCLA's computer science professor Leonard Kleinrock and Stanford Research Institute.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Newman writes a great recap of the key milestones over the past forty years and admittedly notes as we all know, the Internet, even today is still a work in progress.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Check out Kleinrock's page on &lt;a href="http://www.lk.cs.ucla.edu/personal_history.html" target="_blank" title="The History of the Internet"&gt;The History of the Internet&lt;/a&gt;.
