lloyd, gabe, and DI,

Thanks so much for the plethora of information. I royally blew my knee out snowboarding this year and seems like I have hit a roadblock with my recovery. It was suggested to me to look into vibration therapy, and I stumbled upon this site.

Not even counting all the described benefits stated throughout this site, this article/comments alone has persuaded me to purchase a machine. I can only hope that through determination and hard work that I can have a success story like DI's.

This knee injury is a real pain in the ass when trying to find that 'fine line' of exercise/rest ratio. A vibration machine looks like it will help me get some exercise without having to work my knee in a negative manner...and help rebuild it at the same time.

Just wanted to say thanks =)

Personally I see dumbells at best as only adding a small amount of stimulation to an existing program. At worst added risk.

Hi Lloyd,
Yes i agree with you on the price entirely, way way to expensive. On that point are'nt all of the top brands way way overpriced? The Galileo sport retails at over 8k GBP in the UK!!! i think you could probably estimate the actual cost of the machine to within 10%.Think about it, thats the price of a compact car brand new!!!
On the subject of using regular dumbellls whilst on the plate. Will this actually do anything for the upper body?
Again thanks for all the great advice.

The Pro-Ellixe are not worth that.

Using the "reviews" section to pinpoint your options, what type of machine did you want ?

I am looking for a quality machine for home use. In the past few weeks, I found 4 used PROELLIXE units available in western Canada, all priced between US$5,000 to 6,000. I read some earlier comments that there are concerns relating to unreliable performance. I would apprecaite any advice that you can offer. Thank you.

I have tried them, and they are Vibration Therapy only. With no way to g-load on the device with your own weight you are reliant on the units own inertia. Which simply is not enough to cause growth.

I do think they could have good Physio applications. But far too expensive for the home user top consider.

John...

I do not think their culture has changed much. They seem to operate out of fear and I do think they know they are being left behind. Which in my experience is not good for our industry.

Hi Lloyd,
Am i correct in thinking you do not approve of vibrating dumbells as Galileo provide and i think Bosco used to aswell? I was thinking of purchasing these but maybe i dont need them if ordinary dumbells are effective while on the Bodyshaker?

One other thing to add about the Power Plate Advisory Board that I mentioned in the above June 30 post. A bird (reliable bird who's a scientist) told me a few weeks ago that Dr. David Nieman does not run the Power Plate Research Center at Appalachian State. Dr. Jeff McBride is the one who actually runs it. But, Power Plate has Dr. Nieman listed on their Advisory Board - probably because Nieman has received $3 million in funding over his career and it sounds impressive. Thus, it seems deceiving that Power Plate has Nieman on the Advisory Board if McBride is actually the one who runs it. And I doubt if Nieman (or McBride) have ever communicated with Mark Verstegen (who's also on the Power Plate Advisory Board). Still no response from Mr. Verstegen.

I'm not going either but I know some people who are - and are speaking at the conference. I wonder what Vibraflex paid the NSCA to be a sponsor of one of the events? Also, it says on www.vibraflex.com that Health Canada has approved the Vibraflex as a Class 2 Medical Device. What does this mean?

This is a company that I was involved with briefly several years ago. At the time, they were having issues with fuses blowing. The manufacturing was outsourced in the U.S. They seemed to be heavily focused on marketing & sales at the time - not science. I told their national sales rep I knew several scientists and they may be interested in doing studies. His words to me were: "Those guys don't do me any good at all." That really turned me off. I wonder if their company sales culture has changed since then?
