OOTD: Tweed and Sequins

This is the outfit I was wearing when the state trooper pulled me over and slapped a $250 citation in my hand. It was a beautiful day, and this dude was so eager to ruin everyone's day that he went right back to his laser gun shooting when I was still reading his scribbles on the little piece of paper - 70 mph on a 45 road. It was highway 290. Since when did highway 290 go down to 45 mph? "Hahahahahah..." That was Bryan's reaction when I called to tell him my misfortune. FYI, Bryan just got a $200 speeding ticket (first ticket ever in his lifetime!) and was pretty upset since he was going downhill on the way home from a ski trip at 10PM with no other cars around him. Downhill is always tricky because if you are not careful you are bound to speed. I asked him why he was so happy to hear my misfortune, he said "It's just too funny! How much is it?" "$250." "You beat me again?!" "I have to win on everything! You should know that." Somehow after this conversation, I wasn't so caught up with the fine any more.

花仙子- My Childhood Love

I'm currently reliving my childhood by watching this Japanese Anime with my kids. When my parents asked me what I wanted them to bring back from China, I asked for two things. One of them was this cartoon series that I was obsessed with when I was a child. I remember how much I loved the theme song, and the pretty pretty outfits "Xiao Pei" - the flower fairy changed into with the help of her flower key. The story is about the journey that Xiao Pei went through to find the "seven-colored flower". On her journey, there was a handsome prince who would always appear when she needed help. Watching this series takes me back to the memory lane, and allow me to go back to my childhood.

Don't you just love her cute red dress, and matching red boots? She's in this outfit majority of the time, but every episode will use her flower key to change to a different outfit for a little while for different reasons. And Mi-mi, the cat is beyond cute.

After I shrank this dress in the dryer, I couldn't wait to put it on again. It fit a lot better after shrinking, and I couldn't be happier with this styling without a belt cutting the ziggy-zags in half. What do you think? Which way do you like it better? Belted or Not?

OOTD: Weekend Mint

As much as I wanted to resist the J.Crew honeycomb sweaters that Jean, Kelly, Wendy, and Sydney all scored in different colors, I couldn't resist this soft mint color. So I overlooked the reality that honeycomb and cable sweaters look meh on me, and purchased this last time I was in J.Crew. How I love this color!

I am going to have to crop off my eyes in majority of my future photos because I noticed that the work pressure from last year has shown as a sure sign of wrinkles around my eyes. My good friend from work told me that she noticed it. When I look at these photos, I can't help but notice how tired I look even after a 10 hour sleepathon last night.

Donning Ravish Me Red

I'm not a heavy makeup user. The way I like my daily makeup is so that people can't even tell I'm wearing any. However I do like lipsticks. I feel that the color of the lipsticks can change a look completely. So I embraced this true RED lipstick (Revlon Super Lustrous in Ravish Me Red) I received from Jean right before Christmas. Happy Friday!!! I'm certainly happy that the week is over, although I'm pretty sure I have to work through the weekend, again. J.Crew is having extra 40% off sale items in store. On to today's OOTD. I fell in love with this Forever 21 blouse as soon as I saw it. It was a pretty nude color with black laces vertically in the front and horizontally in the back on the shoulder. The neckline is just adorable, finished off with thin ties. I thought of pairing it with my Loft pleated skirt this morning, but the fur vest was an after thought. I looked for a warmer layer and this vest was hanging there waiting for me to pick it up. It was perfect! I adore the black crochet over nude chiffon.

Happy New Year, everyone! I hope you enjoyed your holiday break, and ate and rested and ready to face a brand new year. I thought long and hard about my blog in the coming year during the vacation and during the thought process, almost (yes, almost) came to a conclusion to close it down. Don't panic yet (I'm hoping you would , lol), because I decided not to. The reason why I was considering was because I will have a ridiculously busy year at work. Those of you who got to know me during 2011 had a clue that I was just drowning at work. This new year will not be any different. In order to keep my sanity and not to kill myself in the process, I have to let something go. This blog has been my place to relax and enjoy sharing with you, but it also takes time. Giving it up completely just seem wrong and I will soon regret it I'm sure. So I have decided to post less often and keep it alive. Thank you so much for your support and patience.

Tea Time at Special Teas

I wanted to take Jasmine to a English Tea place for a long time, but never did until today. I found this place in Northborough called Special Teas via a google search and saw a solid high ranking, so off we went this morning with high hopes. We got to the place around 11:45 am, and managed to be seated right away at a big table shared with a gentleman with his niece (for her birthday) at the other end of the table. They ran out of two seaters so if we wanted a table to ourselves, we had to wait for 45 minutes. It turned out to be not bad at all. The table was huge, we weren't bugging each other too much. The nice gentleman even offered to take a picture of us. As you can see in the picture, we were way too close to the lady behind us!!!

Jasmine ordered a Smoked Turkey Scone and cleaned the plate in no time (I don't see her eat that fast very often, she's normally a nibbler.) I ordered a half chicken salad and half tomato soup. The salad was excellent, but I wasn't crazy about the tomato soup. We ordered half a pot of Green Chai and finished it all. I like the way they keep the tea hot.

The place is nice but not what I was looking for. The settings is too simple. My search continues for a true English Tea place with fancy china teapots and teacups. Any suggestions for the Boston Metro West area would be appreciated. Also can we please have a cup of tea and a sandwich without waiting for 40 minutes?

Blogging and joining the petite blogging community has been more than exciting in the past year. I have made so many friends and some have become so close that they feel like sisters that I never had. Thanks Jessy of The Little Dust Princess for spending the time and effort to organize the second annual Secret Santa gift exchange. My Secret Santa was Sydney of Petite Little Girl. When I opened her package, I was beyond ecstatic. She got almost EVERYTHING on my wish list. Thank you soooo much, Sydney!

Now some of you already know that I don't have an H&M store near me. When Jean of Extra Petite heard that I was interested in the green and ivory tops that she showcased in her post, she picked them up for me in separate trips. (First time there was no ivory in sz 2.) Thank you Jean for thinking of me ALL THE TIME.

When I received the package from her, I found this Ravish me Red Revlon lipsticks that I've been wanting to get for a while - you know, to get these bright red lips like J.Crew models have in their catalogs.

Cold Weather Essentials: Chunky Wool Sweaters and Cashmere Scarves

First of all, thank you so much for the emails and comments regarding how to evict the squirrels in the attic. I placed an order for an ultrasonic device to see if they'd be driven away first before I use a trap. Wish me luck.

What would you put on in the morning when you wake up with an outdoor temperature below 15? Fahrenheit that is. I chose this thick, chunky, hand knit wool sweater I purchased during my New York trip a couple of years ago at J.Crew. Back then with a decent sale, this sweater ran about $40. Now? $225 original price on a sweater like this. Clothing prices have gone up more than food prices in the past 5 years. I layered a long sleeve shirt underneath because this type of sweaters usually are not tightly knit. I reached for this cashmere scarf that I got as a Christmas present from my Mom last year. It's soft, cozy, and warm. Guys, this is plenty warm in my house but I decided to get these pictures taken outside because the lighting is just so much better. Not too bad for 5 minutes, but that's how long I lasted outside. :)

Uninvited Guests in the Attic

For the longest time, kids complained about noise upstairs. We thought they were just being kids - finding excuse not to shower upstairs, because "It's scary." at night. Then this morning, I heard this continuous scurrying in the closet. I knew it wasn't the wind, so I asked Bryan to check it out. A few minutes later, he announced that we had squirrels in our attic. Don't get my wrong, I love those little creatures in our backyard. But in the attic? NO!!!! Anyone have any ideas how to get rid of them?

Since it's in the wash still, I used the gingham one instead today for layering. To add a little interest and show more of the gingham pattern, I decided to leave the sweater unzipped and used a leopard print belt to tie the look together.

Christmas is Stressing Me Out

Hello, everyone. Long time no see! I have been MIA for the past week, or was it more than that? I have a good excuse though. "Christmas is Stressing Me Out". Last Sunday morning, I woke up and realized that I hadn't ordered my Christmas picture cards yet, outdoor Christmas decorations were still in the basement, I still had many many presents to buy, the house was a mess, five baskets of laundry to do, the fridge was empty, my son was having a cold, AND showstopper bugs waiting for me to look at for work. It literally freaked me out. Thankfully, when I announced "I'M STRESSING OUT." Everyone in the family heard it. Kids helped out straightening the rooms, husband went out and put up the Christmas decorations, while I furiously vacuumed. We picked out the picture of the family together to be on our Christmas card this year and the cards are now on their way to our house. I'm still stressed, but well enough to write up this post.

I didn't take any outfit pictures last week, and I am so bummed out about it. I have worn my Ann Taylor Factory tweed skirt twice to work already and neither time I got a chance to snap a shot.

While going through girls' clothing section in Target last week trying to find some Hello Kitty stuff for Jasmine, I found this cute little tee for $11.99 by Ginger & Wasabi. Oh that highlighter green! I bought it in a size XL and it fits me pretty well. Throw on a boyfriend blazer and leather shorts, I was ready to go.

Target does have some cute Hello Kitty clothing pieces if you are interested. So does Forever21. Hello Kitty must be coming back in trend, that little cutie thing!

Another Pretty J.Crew Scarf

I am very picky about what I put around my neck. I have pretty sensitive skin, and don't like anything with just a bit of scratchiness against my bare skin, especially around my neck. So when I pick scarves, I usually check the materials first before I purchase. The beautiful Missoni scarf I bought (and returned) was an exception. I knew it had "acrylic" and "mohair" in it, and it usually translates into "scratchiness" but it was so pretty that I had to give it a shot. Although it was a fail, it was a good lesson learned. I know now that I can only admire Missoni scarves from afar. Wear them well, my fellow bloggers. :) You probably remember that I bought my leopard print scarf from J.Crew last year and it is by far my most used and reached scarf in my closet. Not only is the print versatile, it is made of wool and cashmere and it's light weight and extremely soft. After having such a positive experience when J.Crew scarf, I kept my eyes open for scarves when I am in their stores. Sure enough when I popped in last week, I found something very pretty and unique. The scarf is made of 100% wool, but feels like silk. It's extremely smooth. I am very fond of the pattern and have a feeling that it will go with a lot of my outfit and would be another scarf that I'd get a lot of wear. I cannot find it online, but it's a brand new arrival in store. Retails $58. (In store had a 25% off promotion last week.)
