She is very skittish and has never been approachable.

She lived in a woodpile for a few months (Sept – oct) before appearing to move to the empty lot.

For the past few weeks – it appears as if she now sleeps in my neighbour’s compost pile. So, we have added straw and covered most of it to keep it dry for her.

The first is a very large black/grey tabby who has come onto my deck daily for the last two – three weeks.

He seems very hungry – and will gulp down any food that may be on the deck for my cats.

He has become very friendly – so, in the last two days I have been able to brush him – see that there are no tattoos – but he is a neutered male. He doesn’t seem aggressive towards my three cats.

He seems to be sleeping somewhere in a large empty lot near our home.

I found a female, Jack Russell type dog on East Sooke
Rd., between Eliza Pt. Rd and Tideview Rd today at about 2 PM She is old,
nearly entirely white, save for some tannish areas on her ears

She appears to have cataracts.

I am fairly certain I saw her last evening at 6006 East Sooke Rd. I had the sense she might be lost then.

She has no ear tatoo. She is fairly round, but was very very hungry.

She had a collar, but no ID whatsoever.

She appears timid, but just grateful to be warm and fed.

Sam (Samantha) is a larger Maltese/Yorkie cross and she looks like a Benji type of dog. She was adopted from the Duncan SPCA about 2 – 3 weeks ago.

Thank you so much for suggesting putting out something that smells like home. I put out a throw pillow with a pair of my socks on it before going to bed and when I checked at 3:30 this morning – there she was. Being that Dolly is a rescue dog and that we have only had her for one week, she is still very shy and hasn’t really had time to bond with us yet but we will persevere and eventually gain her complete trust.
