Crooner Ed Sheeran called Israel’s actions in Gaza “unjustifiable” as he wept and broke his silence during his first concert since booting rapper Macklemore from his tour for tirades against the Jewish state.

“I’ve never wanted to be an activist musician, but this put me in the middle of an important and passionate argument about freedom of speech and the most complex political issue on the planet,” Sheeran told the Philly crowd of concertgoers Saturday night.

Sheeran spoke multiple times about the controversy during Saturday night’s show at Lincoln Financial Field, growing progressively more upset as the night wore on and eventually telling fans it had been one of the “worst weeks of his life” and that “I really didn’t know whether I’d be even get on stage again, whether I wanted to be an artist at all.”

At the start of the show, before playing any music, he zeroed on his feelings about the Gaza War, criticizing both Israel and Hamas.

Whomever wrote the talking points did a masterful job on helping Ed ‘both sides’ the issue.

As Lisa wrote, Macklemore decided to hijack the Ed Sheeran tour with an anti-Semitic, pro-Gaza screed. Understandably, people were not amused and were not playing his game. Especially once it became apparent to many that Macklemore had paraded himself around at other concerts while wearing 1930’s Nazi propaganda Jew face. At the time, he proclaimed the resemblance was just a mere coincidence. Uh huh…

There are hundreds of propaganda posters and cartoons published that portrayed Jews with big noses and bulging eyes. And much of that has now been circulating since the October 7 attacks. Macklemore has been vocal in his support of Gaza and Hamas. So no, his choice wasn’t a coincidence.

Macklemore was told by stadium owner, Robert Kraft, that he wasn’t welcome after his anti-Israel screed. Which Kraft has every right to do.

Which is when the cancel mob went after Ed Sheeran tooth and nail. His band quit, the additional ‘headliner’ bands playing before his set quit. Macklemore got to play ‘woe is me!,’ and protestors showed up outside the Philadelphia venue.

As we’ve written here a multitude of times, there IS NO genocide in Gaza.

It would not surprise me one bit to find out that Ed Sheeran caved to the mob, not only because of the pressure from his handlers and the cancel mob, but from Macklemore himself. 

After Macklemore was dropped, he responded to his removal in a statement, saying that he and Sheeran had held “difficult conversations” in the aftermath of the MetLife shows. While expressing respect for Sheeran personally, the rapper challenged the singer’s preference for remaining publicly neutral and said he did not regret using the tour stage to speak in support of Palestinians. Macklemore has since said he will donate $1 million to Palestinian relief organizations.

Uh huh. I’d bet a good portion of that $1 million went right into Hamas coffers.

Ed Sheeran wasn’t only hounded by Macklemore and all the very best PR people in the music business, he evidently was blasted by family members over this. Specifically his cousin, Jethro.

“Finally it’s all coming out! I’m ashamed of my cousin Ed he’s done. Finally the world and all his fans see through him. He’s not a good person, I don’t like his music so I can’t say he’s even a good artist,” Jethro posted on Instagram.

He also wrote, “He’s honestly a selfish individual with malicious, cunning ways… I’m his first blood cousin and he screwed me over, made fun of my mental health and mental health in general.”

Despite Macklemore previously saying that Ed was pressured into dropping him from his tour by stadium owners, Jethro said he believes Ed made the decision himself, calling his cousin “shady” and a “coward.”

Jethro reeks of jealousy, but still, I’m sure Ed just loved having family members explain how HE is the one at fault for what Macklemore decided to do.

And that’s where this is.

Macklemore decided to hijack and essentially blow up Ed Sheeran’s tour for his own benefit while virtue signaling about Gaza. People decided to boycott, and stadium owners said they don’t want Macklemore to step foot in their venues.

Yet somehow this was Ed’s fault?

Enter The Perez Hilton Of Capitol Hill

The man behind all of this is David Wheeler, president and co-founder of American Muckrakers, a political group that has been going after Boebert for years.

Wheeler alleges Boebert had relationships with former district director Clarice Navarro, district chief of staff Raven Finegan, and former chief of staff Jeffrey Small.

The House has rules against members having sexual relationships with employees they supervise. Apparently please keep your pants on around the staff had to be officially addressed.

Wheeler has made sensational allegations about Boebert before, including claiming in 2022 that she had once worked as a paid escort. His website even initially used a photo of a woman who wasn’t Boebert, an error Wheeler later admitted was sloppy.

So forgive me if I’m not immediately treating the Perez Hilton of Capitol Hill as Woodward and Bernstein.

Lauren, We Haven’t Forgotten Beetlejuice

Now, before anyone accuses me of pretending Lauren Boebert is some shrinking violet scandalously dragged into all this, please.

We remember Beetlejuice.

In 2023, Boebert and her date were escorted out of a Denver theater after complaints about their behavior, and security footage showed the two getting a little too comfortable with one another during the performance.

So yes, Lauren has previously given America reason to suggest she keep her hands to herself in public.

Wait, There’s More?

Just when you think Wheeler has emptied the entire bag of allegations onto the table, somehow Matt Gaetz wanders into the story.

American Muckrakers also circulated a claim from a source alleging that Boebert and Navarro had a threesome with the former Florida congressman, and that the encounter was captured on video.

I know, y’all. It’s Sunday, and on the Lord’s Day, no less, I’m making you read this mess. My sincerest apologies. Blame Congress.

There is something almost nostalgic about seeing Boebert and Gaetz back together in a headline, even if this is certainly not the reunion anyone asked for.

Remember when those two were making Kevin McCarthy’s life miserable during that endless Speaker battle? Boebert, Gaetz, and Marjorie Taylor Greene were among the loudest Republican firebrands in Washington back then. You never had to wonder whether one of them was going to make news, only which one and how much popcorn you were going to need.

And now look at them. Gaetz is gone. MTG is gone, although she packed her own bags and left. Boebert, meanwhile, had actually managed to keep things relatively quiet for a while.

So naturally, here we are.

Apparently the universe looked around Capitol Hill, realized Lauren Boebert was the last one still standing, and decided her turn was overdue.

Remember When We Had Actual Evidence?

And it’s not as though Capitol Hill is unfamiliar with this sort of behavior. Back in 2023, a young Senate staffer managed to make headlines after an explicit video filmed inside a Senate hearing room made its way onto the internet. Yes, an actual Senate hearing room, because apparently even the office Christmas party wasn’t inappropriate enough.

That particular scandal didn’t require us to chase rumors about some mysterious recording that may or may not exist. The evidence was right there for everyone to see, whether anyone wanted to see it or not. And trust me, nobody needed to see it.

Seriously, Congress. Cold showers. All of you.

In the shadow of Washington, D.C., where Islamic terrorists flew an American Airlines plane into the Pentagon, Fairfax County Public Schools is demanding its educators not bring up the fact that Islamic terrorists had anything to do with 9/11.

A six-page guidance letter advises teachers to “design instruction around your students’ needs and experiences” and refrain from “associat[ing] the 9/11 attacks with Islam or Muslims.” Furthermore, the district guide admonishes teachers not to “center the extremists or the acts of the extremists,” 7News, an Austin CBS affiliate, reported.

Making “hope” illegal …

Wherein women who want to be free to “make a choice” are only allowed to make it in one direction.

California Attorney General Rob Bonta wants a court to punish pro-life organizations for telling women they may have another choice after starting a chemical abortion.

His case against Heartbeat International and RealOptions targets their communications about abortion pill reversal and seeks millions in penalties along with restrictions on what they can say. But to understand what California is asking the court to suppress, look beyond the legal briefs and listen to the women who actually sought that help.

The “abortion pill” is really two drugs given on a consecutive basis. The women testifying were women who, after ingesting the first drug, decided not to go through with the second and sought information and help in seeing if they could reverse the effects of the first and keep their pregnancies.

California Democrats will not have it! Bonta is out to destroy the organizations that helped these women give birth to healthy babies and to strip the right of women to change their minds. In one of the most chilling lines from the lawsuit, the Moloch Chorus proclaims:

“That Defendants offered hope to these individuals underscores the seriousness of their misconduct.”

Texas Democrats have come up with a scheme to pay voters to cast ballots for their candidates, a video obtained exclusively by Townhall Media shows.

Sky McAdams, organizing manager for Texas Majority PAC, was caught on video dishing on the scheme they hope will propel Democrat U.S. Senate candidate James Talarico to victory in November.

“We are paying people $25 to attend a one-hour Zoom class to learn why voting is important and why the Republicans are causing all of these bad things,” McAdams says in the undercover video. “So it’s like a roundabout way of paying people for their votes, essentially.”

In the video, McAdams says it’s called a “paid relational program,” which is operated by Relentless that uses software called Rally.

President Trump claimed in an unprecedented announcement Friday that he was banning CNN, MS Now and Politico journalists from the White House “effective immediately” for allegedly reporting “Fake News.”

Trump told reporters in the Oval Office that he wanted the ban to “go as far as you can,” though the practical effect was not immediately clear.

Reporters from all three outlets remained on the White House grounds as of Friday evening. Any ban, if imposed, would trigger First Amendment litigation.

Let’s talk about that First Amendment shall we? It absolutely guarantees the freedom of the press. What it does not provide, guarantee, or give permission to is access if someone says …NO. Furthermore, access should not be expected just because you are the media.

Freedom of the press gives the media the freedom to report news, hopefully FACTUALLY. As we’ve seen for decades now, and especially during these last 12 years, the media goes forth with an agenda first and the news combined with facts last. That was glaringly apparent during the Covid crap. Yes, I’m looking at you Jake Tapper, all of CNN, Politico and MS Now. Furthermore all three of those outlets were totally complicit in covering up Joe Biden’s incapacity.

It was super duper fair for Politico to hide Joe’s problems during his Presidency. The book written afterwards that says, ‘oh wait, we knew all the time, but now the story can be told’ is a prime example why the media has taken the First Amendment and turned it into trash.

Never mind that. How dare Trump boot all the norms to the curb. It just is NOT done.

The White House has for more than a century opened its doors to journalists, many of whom work from dedicated office space near the briefing room each day. While journalists and presidential administrations constantly spar, Trump has been nearly alone in trying to oust reporters and their news organizations from the White House grounds.

Trump has repeatedly feuded with news organizations and at times has tried to ban them and their journalists from White House grounds or certain presidential events.

In February 2025, he banned the Associated Press from events in the Oval Office and Air Force One, among other spaces, over the news outlet and grammatical standard-bearer’s refusal to use the term “Gulf of America” to describe the Gulf of Mexico. The AP is challenging the case in court.

During Trump’s first administration, he banned CNN reporter Jim Acosta and later Playboy reporter Brian Karem from the White House, though both were allowed back after they sued the government.

Well, as we know, Jim “mirror boy” Acosta brought his ban upon himself. As did Brian Karem for acting like a total ass.

Again, for all of those in the cheap seats, just because you are a member of the media does NOT mean access whether anyone likes it or not.

Freedom of the Press means freedom to report, write, bloviate, without the government telling you NO.

This move isn’t Trump saying no. He’s just saying they no longer get access.

WE ARE THE MEDIA!! First Amendment because reasons! That’s been their rallying cry for everything. Intrude on people’s pain? First Amendment! Hide inconvenient truths that might expose Democrats? That’s how the media rolls. Called out by ordinary Americans and Republican politicians? They scurry to hide themselves behind the First Amendment.

The WHCA issued a statement. 

The president said it plainly in the Oval Office, describing his own planned action as a “ban on the free press.”

The Constitution protects the freedom of the press from government interference. That protection does not depend on whether the president likes a news organization’s coverage, agrees with its reporting, or approves of the questions its journalists ask.

This is about more than the rights of journalists. It is about the right of the American people to receive a full and independent account of the activities, policies and decisions of whoever occupies the nation’s highest office.

The WHCA stands in defense of our colleagues at CNN, MSNOW, and Politico who are being singled out for doing their jobs.

At the University of Utah, a young woman approached the College Republicans with a cake wishing them “Happy Kirkaversary.” The College Republicans vice president, Rylie Barnes, posted this picture on X of the incident. (The full picture, if clicked on, shows the cake.)

The College Republicans’ chairman, Riley Beesley, replied to Barnes’ post on X, saying “Imagine your (sic) Charlie Kirk’s kid and somebody bakes you this cake. These people are sick.”

However, the internet did its thing, and the student who brought the cake was almost immediately identified as Sara Larsen, another University of Utah student. Somehow, that identification by others triggered an investigation into Barnes and Beesley for allegedly “doxxing” her.

Barnes and Riley Beesley, the chairman of the school’s College Republicans chapter, took exception to the stunt on their campus, and Barnes posted a photo of the woman holding the cake to her X account. It quickly went viral and led to an anonymous X user identifying the student as Sara Larsen.

“We got a lot of backlash from students here on campus, blaming us for doxxing, creating false allegations and lies on social media about it, and reporting to the school all these false allegations as well. So I don’t blame the school for kind of jumping the gun on it,” Barnes said.

“But I think they did jump the gun, which caused this to get so much backlash on the Republican end, just because there wasn’t much of an investigation for us. There was just, ‘we need you to come meet with us,’ and in our minds, that wasn’t okay because we didn’t do anything wrong.”

The College Democrats at the University of Utah claimed that the College Republicans were “shaming” and “harassing” the student who brought the cake, and because she apologized after the fact, this now meant that the College Republicans were “waging a campaign of hate.”

The loud voices complaining about the outing of Larsen’s identity propelled the university into investigating both Barnes and Beesley. However, Barnes said that Larsen consented to have her picture taken, and it also seems that Larsen was in contact with people who were agitating to get the College Republicans off campus, and Barnes and Beesley expelled. But before that meeting could happen, it was canceled.

On Tuesday, the university sent emails to Beesley and Barnes requesting closed-door meetings Wednesday morning with its Student Rights and Responsibilities office.

“We received information that, if accurate, may go against this priority and the policy on Student Rights and Responsibilities, and I would like to meet and hear your perspective,” says a copy of one of the emails, obtained by Fox News Digital. “The report is regarding an incident that happened on or about September 11, 2026 and allegedly involves you attempting to doxx another University of Utah student over a political issue.”

The email was sent by the office’s assistant director, Jose Morales Diaz.

“Doxxing” is the act of publicly revealing, usually online, the personal information of another person, typically with the intent of causing harm to that individual.

“We will talk about the information our office received, and you will have an opportunity to give your perspective of the incident if you wish. We will also talk about possible next steps, such as resolutions and educational or restorative measures if appropriate,” the email said.

The emails also prohibited the students from recording the meetings. But shortly before the meetings were scheduled to take place, the university abruptly canceled them, according to Beesley.

It seems the Tuesday meeting was canceled because the story was gaining attention online, and got the attention of Erika Kirk herself. And Erika took some action.

And with legal counsel entering the proverbial chat, the university decided to drop the entire issue.

Thursday night, the University of Utah sent out a notice confirming that the potential disciplinary matter was closed.

“The University of Utah’s Office of the Dean of Students has dismissed an ‘accountability’ inquiry into student Rylie Barnes’ social media posts,” the message said. “After receiving clarification from Riley Beesley’s representative on Thursday, Sept. 17, the dean’s office also has dismissed an accountability inquiry into Beesley’s social media posts.”

That “representative” was Beelsey’s attorney.

The school added that neither student ever faced expulsion, and that normally they would keep disciplinary matters private, but since the students made it public, they publicly responded.

Barnes and Beesley both confirmed that they had been notified that the matter was closed, and credited their online support, specifically naming Nick Sotor and Erika Kirk, for their help.

So, what have we all learned from this convoluted saga? First of all, if you are in a public place waving a cake around celebrating a man’s murder, expect to have your picture taken. And if that picture is taken, expect that the internet will figure out who you are. Second, despite the lip service against “political violence,” it is clear that TPUSA events and College Republicans have targets on them, and somehow, it is socially acceptable for people to be complete assholes to them if Donald Trump is president. Third, Charlie Kirk was murdered while speaking on a college campus, and far too many people are fine with it, including those who vandalize his memorial. And people wonder why Erika won’t disclose his final resting place. Can you imagine what some psychos would do to his grave, if they could?

And finally, kudos to Erika Kirk for providing the legal assistance for these students. Charlie would have done that, too.

Macklemore has every right to say Free Palestine.

Robert Kraft has every right to allow or disallow whatever performances he wants in the stadiums that he owns.

But let’s be real: Macklemore frankly isn’t talented enough to be controversial.

Macklemore was told not to do this in his contract. By the concert promoter after Night 1 at MetLife stadium, he was warned. He did it anyway on Night 2.

Sheeran’s statement was not enough for some radio stations, who have chosen to pull him from their rotation. Just yesterday, an Irish radio station. Enter Bay Broadcasting group program director, Dave Kelly:

They acknowledge Sheeran’s own explanation of these circumstances. But, they don’t agree that music should be apolitical. Ed Sheeran is the headliner on this tour. Macklemore was sharing his stage. He was a supporting act. My guess is the people who shelled out money to see Ed Sheeran couldn’t care less about Macklemore and his recent catalogue of crap rap. He had two good songs years ago.

I am not shocked a radio group pulls this nonsense. As a radio exile, I would venture to say that this radio station did not pull Ed Sheeran from their playlists because of “the listeners”. For the longest time, corporate radio, (with the exception of talk radio), has never been about the listeners. It has also not been about the personalities behind the mic, either, who, for the most part, unless you’re syndicated (and you follow the script of the left in between music sets), get paid peanuts. Corporate radio has largely been about revenue and advertisers. Some “consultant”, somewhere, advised this program director to pull Ed Sheeran’s music from the airwaves because of dollar signs. The tragedy here is, either way, if the station loses money, the on-air personalities (regardless of political stance), will be the first to go-not these numbnuts at the top making these decisions.

All of above is beside the point, but it begs the question of how politically-driven rhetoric drives revenue in arenas that are not designed to be politically driven. How an escape to music has turned on its side and not become something that unites people but divides people. The left infects and ruins everything it touches, including friendships.

Not wrong. But, radio listeners (if any of you are still out there), you’ve been warned. You will not hear any Ed Sheeran for a while because the program directors are supporting a group that throws gays off buildings, uses innocents as human shields, encourages child marriage and spousal abuse, and believes in public executions. Debi is my bestest friend. Been that way since kindergarten. Next year we go to middle school, so this would really be our last year of Trick-or-Treating.
We started planning for our costumes early. They’d have to be special. But I worried about Debi. As much as I love her, she believes just about anything. I remember 2nd grade when Randy sent her into hysterics saying she broke her mama’s back by stepping on a crack. In 3rd grade I tried so hard to tell her that those sea monkeys she saved her allowance to buy wouldn’t look like the cartoon family in the ad.

So when Debi showed me a picture of a beautiful fairy outfit she cut out of a magazine, I told her she should not buy it but let my grandma make her one like she was doing for me. But Debi had her heart set on that magazine one.

I wanted to cry when her mom dropped her at my house so we could trick-or-treat the neighborhood. Debi wasn’t happy. That magical costume looked more like a gold-painted garbage bag, all plasticky and baggy.

She started crying and I ran to hug her. “Don’t cry, Debi, please don’t.”

“They lied, Jenny. Why do they lie?”

I looked back over my shoulder to where Grandma watched us. She was smiling.

I turned Debi towards the porch. Her eyes widened as Grandma pulled a costume from behind her back.

Now that was a Magic Fairy Princess outfit! All glitter and gold and I got to help glue on the jewels.

“You’re my bestest friend” I whispered, “I’ll always be here for you.”

In fact, as a juror for any trial, there is no obligation to run to the media and explain your vote. A juror’s decision is that of the juror’s. No one. Not the judge, prosecution, defense attorney, the other jurors, the media, or the public are owed ANY explanation for one’s vote.

That is what has totally pissed me off about this trial. Having served on a jury, for a murder trial, the responsibility is huge. Our legal system, our JUSTICE system, is predicated upon not only following the law and evidence, but setting your own self aside. And that absolutely includes NOT bringing your personal or political agenda into the room.

As we’ve now seen ad nauseam, that is what the majority of jurors did. And they are freaking BRAGGING about it.

Let me tell you something. You harpies on the jury went in with an agenda and deliberately participated in a miscarriage of justice for three children who were murdered by their mother. MURDERED.

Clancy, 36, admitted to strangling her three kids — Cora, 5, Dawson, 3, and 8-month-old Callan — with exercise bands and then attempting suicide at their Duxbury home after asking her husband to leave the house on an errand.

But she claimed the killings were driven by a months-long struggle with extreme postpartum psychosis, which she claims was misdiagnosed and not properly treated by doctors.

Jurors deliberated for nearly a week, with 11 of the 12 taking Clancy’s side — but the holdout refused to budge.

Paying close attention to the evidence was never on their agenda. Nope. Forget the law, it’s all about feminism. Forget that Clancy admitted she killed her three babies, their political feminist agenda matters more.

So during deliberations, they were already planning their media tour. These women weren’t seeking justice, they were looking to make a statement and seek out fame. What horrible people they are!

Even attorneys who should know better are piling on, stating that he “deserves” all the blowback he’s receiving.

After NBC Boston ran its story, a blogger found and exposed the holdout’s full name, photo, and address. “Now that the holdout juror in the Lindsay Clancy case is getting the negative attention he deserves, it’s easy for [Plymouth County, Massachusetts] District Attorney Tim Cruz to agree to a plea deal that gets Lindsay the help she needs,” argued a lawyer in the Boston Herald.

But in effectively revealing the juror’s identity, NBC Boston broke with established journalistic norms and made him a target. “My family cannot leave the house,” the holdout’s brother said. “They are leaving notes at my mother’s house.” Reporters usually only investigate jurors’ backgrounds after they have come forward publicly. For example, when reporters revealed that a juror in the Derek Chauvin trial had participated in a political protest wearing a “Black Lives Matter” T-shirt and baseball cap, they did so after the juror had identified himself and given a TV interview. The Clancy holdout, in contrast, had not given interviews, and his name is still legally sealed by the court.

And then the media jumped in to the game. Specifically one member of the media who went full court press on the lone holdout. She …just barely stopped short of publishing his name. Yet she published, with the full agreement of her bosses at Boston’s NBC10 station, information that any sentient being could then directly track to that one single juror. And they did.

Now he’s broken his silence. He’s doing so because his family has been hounded, he’s been tracked, and none of them see any end in sight with the rabid mob.

Michael P. Desronvil, 48, clapped back at accusations from fellow jurors that he refused to budge on his belief Clancy was guilty of murdering her three kids despite expressing doubts.

Desronvil’s identity became the subject of public frenzy when his 11 co-jurors put the blame on him for the Sept. 3 mistrial — with his life getting splashed across headlines after the controversial true-crime blogger known as “Turtleboy” exposed his name, and NBC Boston reported on domestic violence allegations that have dogged him for years.

Do I care about any of the allegations and cases against him in the past regarding domestic violence and other issues? NO. Why? Because that was disclosed on the jury forms and both attorneys were fine with getting him seated in the jury box.

But there are 8 harpies out there who walked in with an agenda while Desronvil did his damndest to pay attention to the evidence.

If at least three of the jurors hadn’t said anything, no one would’ve known what that juror’s race or sex was. They deliberately outed him and let the media and social media mob do the rest.

Now, Desronvil is in hiding somewhere in New England.

Cora, Dawson, and Callan were killed by their mother. A father is left with memories, including the horrific memories of finding his dead children in the basement. Those three babies are gone forever.

We can litigate all we want about Lindsay Clancy’s mental health.

But for those 8 jurors to walk in with their agenda, an agenda they made clear from the start, and then work overtime to vilify the one juror who actually DID HIS JOB by following the evidence, is a miscarriage of justice.

Far-left streamer Hasan Piker argued in an interview published Thursday that the US military has committed more terrorism than Al Qaeda, the Islamist network behind the 9/11 attacks.

“Pound for pound as far as the number of deaths, yes,” Piker, a prominent surrogate for Michigan Democratic US Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed, told “The Axios Show” after being challenged over a recent comment describing America as “the top dog in terrorism.”

Socialist streamer Hasan Piker made repeated “ballsack” references during a crude exchange on social media with an X user who was in utero when their mother escaped the World Trade Center on 9/11.

What a nice boy, eh?

Not that the little Maoling in a keyiffah has ever had to really work for a living. A nepo baby who grew up rich and got his media start with Uncle Cenk Uygar (another vile Jewhater), it’s easy to trash America when money is no object and power over others is what you’re really after.

First, get about 3 million people to listen to your Twitch streaming, then let Democrat candidates court you for access to that audience.

Abdul isn’t the only Democrat with a Piker problem. AOC and Bernie Sanders also like to pal-around with Piker.

Oh, Now We Are Worried About Women?

But the surprises didn’t stop there. Some female athletes are now arguing that Sydney Sweeney and her barely-there Novig ad are setting women back 20 years.

No, hon. Men competing in women’s sports are doing a pretty good job of that all by themselves.

We’re talking about women losing places on teams, competing against biological males for medals and records, and watching the very meaning of women’s sports get stretched beyond recognition. If we’re going to talk about setting women back, perhaps that deserves at least as much outrage as Sydney Sweeney wearing next to nothing in an ad.

Apparently The Confusion Has Cleared

I had mostly dismissed the outrage over Sweeney’s ad as the usual internet hysteria until I read Lauren Bair’s piece at the Daily Wire. She noticed a rather glaring blind spot in all this sudden concern for female athletes, and once you see it, it’s awfully hard to miss.

We’ll pass out holding our breath waiting for the outrage mob to catch on to the fact that not all biological sexes should be welcome in women’s sports. What about all that blood, that sweat, and those tears we’re supposedly aiming at Sydney Sweeney? The same contingent screaming their guts out about a pretty girl doing sports wrong seems totally fine with a man doing whatever he wants all over the equal playing field.

Listen, before anyone gets their knickers in a twist, it’s perfectly fine to support women’s sports without condoning commercialized debauchery — or even gambling in the first place. Yes, Sweeney’s ad is meant to be tantalizing. But it’s not about women’s sports. And I’d argue it’s not really about women, either. There’s a larger conversation to be had around who gets to step into the arena and represent women. And it ain’t about Sydney Sweeney. – Daily Wire

The Daily Wire author is right. This isn’t really about Sydney Sweeney at all. It’s about the remarkable clarity everyone suddenly seems to have about women when Sydney Sweeney takes off her clothes.

We can identify female athletes just fine. We can celebrate their muscles, their strength, their hard work, and everything their bodies are capable of doing. There doesn’t seem to be much confusion about who we’re talking about.

But somehow that clarity has a funny way of disappearing when the conversation turns to men who identify as women competing in women’s sports. Then all that certainty about women, their bodies, and their accomplishments seems to go right out the window. Where are these same female voices, so willing to criticize an actual woman for appearing in an ad, when women are being asked to compete against biological males?

Men playing against women didn’t make them care.

Naked men in women’s locker rooms didn’t make them care.

But Sidney Sweeney looking hot as hell? That’s a bridge too far.

Everybody’s Got Some Explaining To Do

So here’s a suggestion for the women furious with Sydney Sweeney: save a little of that outrage for the fights that actually affect female athletes. Sydney isn’t trying to take your spot on the starting line, your place on the podium or your record. Maybe worry a little more about the sicko men who are.

Plenty of conveniently flexible thinking goes around here. We’ve spent years complaining, often rightly, about the pornification of practically everything in American culture.

Then Sydney Sweeney showed up wearing almost nothing and suddenly a whole lot of people discovered an expansive new appreciation for artistic expression and female agency. Apparently principles can get a little wobbly when the woman violating them is really, really pretty.

You know I had to get that little dig in.

Maybe that’s the one useful thing to come out of this ridiculous controversy. Sydney Sweeney managed to clear up an awful lot of confusion without saying much of anything. We know what women are. We know what female athletes are. We apparently know what sexualization looks like, too. Everybody seems remarkably certain about all of it when Sydney Sweeney is standing there in her underwear.

Now, if we could just hang onto some of that clarity when Sydney puts her clothes back on, we might actually be getting somewhere.
