Dungeon Keeper 2, a game from 1999, lives up even by today's standards as a classic Dungeon building game. Dungeon Keeper 2 has several upgrades and improvements over the predecessor, such as redone spells, additional rooms, and overall controls. In this game's story, you are tasked with collectible all of the portal gems, in order to open a portal and launch an invasion on the surface world. Along the way, you will collect pieces in the campaign at set intervals to summon the horned reaper aptly named, "Horny". He is no longer an inhabitable creature, but rather, a summoned creature, who will wreak havoc on your enemies.

The game play from the original Dungeon Keeper is mostly the same, but more streamlined and less on the micro-management scale, allow for more control and focus on the game play. The new creatures in this game are more humanoid, rather than animal creatures, having people such as rogues, black knights, and others who can be summoned with the right rooms and conditions.

Spells in this game can also be upgraded to include stronger, more powerful variants. The summon imp spell, for example, can be upgraded to summon level 4 imps, which are quicker and stronger then level 1 counter parts. You can also store a limited amount of gold in your dungeon heart as well, a problem that was fixed in the original.

The single player campaign in this game has well done maps and script events, with the narrator (in his evil voice), giving you a voice over on what you must do in the level. His voice is also good for periodically making funny remarks about you, or your dungeon, and livens up the gameplay. Other aspect I really appreciate, is the use of cultural references, and the voice interacting with you directly, telling you to go to bed if it is late at night, for example.

Another aspect I enjoy is the multi player, which allows you to fight up to 4 other dungeon keepers in different maps, or you can make your own map with the level editor, and share with your friends, allowing for near limitless game play.

Overall, this is one of those classic games that everyone should try at least once, with it's humor, excellent interface, campaign, and even multiplayer. This game will definitely have you attention if you are a fan of building dungeons, managing creatures, and being evil!

Yu-Gi-Oh BAM is a variation on the popular collectible card game series, featuring quicker card games, dueling with friends, custom decks, card collecting, challenges and much more! Also featured as some of your favorite characters from the show, such as Yugi, Joey, Marik, Seto-Kaiba, and much more, including it's own story in text format and various extra challenges along the way.

Starting off in the game, you will begin with a starter deck to begin with, following the story and unlock more chapters, cards, and earning coins, which can be spent on purchasing more cards to customize future decks. Game play is a bit different than playing an actual game of Yu-Gi-Oh!, such as only attack settings, rather than being able to switch a card from attack to defense and so forth, but most of the core game is intact. Spell cards are also featured, and can be deployed in the same manner as the original game, however, instead of 5 channels to lay down your monsters and spells, the game board is set to only 3, to speed up the games. Also of note is that the standard decks have been lowered to 15, making game play quicker as well, having to make more strategic use of your deck layouts. BAM suggests 10 monsters to 5 spell ratios, which makes sense, because of the lower amount of cards that can be played.

You can earn cards by playing the story chapters, completing objectives (which are needed in order to increase your level), dueling friends, or doing arena duels, which allows you to play against random people. Dueling with others give you "card pieces", which is another currency needed to purchase booster packs and certain cards. The final currency given is the "Duel Points", only received from either purchasing them with real money, and completing certain objectives. All of these currencies can be used to purchase cards or booster packs, and some cards are added and removed in the rosters at certain intervals in updates.

Overall, a person who enjoys Yu-Gi-Oh or collectible card trading games in general, will enjoy this game, and especially if they have friends who enjoy the same kind of games too! This game does a great job of keeping to the source material of the TV show and manga interpretations, and the cards and effects are very similar to their real life counterparts!

Motivation

We are geeks and we like to build stuff. We have spent a significant portion of our childhood and youth messing with lego, programming and playing games like Transport Tycoon, Civilization or Simcity. Games which didn't have impressive graphics, but still were a lot of fun to play. They were all about designing, building and creating things. About figuiring out how to solve little puzzles (Hmm how do I extend this train station?) and about managing what you created (Arrgh i need to upgrade all these roads into railroads!). We loved these games and we spent many nights staying up and playing them.

Then there came the idea for a game where you build your factory. You wouldn't have slaves or drones to give orders to. You would have to setup everything yourself. Automate a lot and make sure that things will scale up well. What if you found yourselve on a deserted place or maybe an alien planet alone with no equipment. Would you be able to survive? Would you be able to start from the scratch and build your tools and machines from the ground up?

Game

Factorio is a 2D game about building factories on an alien planet. You will be mining resources, researching technologies, building infrastructure and fighting alien enemies. Use your imagination to design your factory, apply management skills to keep it working and finally show your close combat skills in encounters with planet inhabitants who don't really like you.

Demo

A public demo is already available. No signup, no fee, just download it from http://www.factorio.com/demo and play it now:) The demo contains a short 3-level introductory campaign. There is a very limited set of concepts and game elements in the demo compared to what will be in the full game and what is currently in the alpha. Main purpose of the demo is to give general feeling for the game and allow players to test whether the game works well with their specific system.

Alpha

The game will be released in its current state as an alpha in mid March 2013. The alpha will be available to all backers. The alpha is already playable and contains following things (however not graphically finished or polished):

Marvel: Avengers Alliance is a turn-based role playing game from Playdom, featuring a huge number of Marvel heroes and villains in a game style similar to old Final Fantasy turn based game play. You can create your own S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent using a limited selection of hair styles and colors, and he will level up through combat, and can be accompanied by 2 other Marvel Heroes. Using research, you can unlock items, equipment, and new suits for your own agent, which changes his class type, and allows you to purchase new and powerful equipment to keep up with your enemies!

earning S.H.I.E.L.D. points will allow you to research these items, as well as train (level up) heroes, and purchase certain items, such as suits and so forth. Command Points are points used to recruit new heroes to join your side, and each have different point values, from low to high cost. You can earn more S.H.I.E.L.D points by visiting allies, as well as earning Distress Calls. Distress Calls are a free action used in combat to summon a friend to help you in missions, which can turn the tide of a tough fight.

The combat in this game is turn based, and with each turn you are allowed to attack with your equipment (your own character), or your heroes' special attacks (depending on hero), with each action costing a specific amount of stamina. If you are running low on stamina, you can recharge it, but you will cost a turn to recharge it, or you can use items and distress calls if your turn is your agent. Each character has their own class, which has a counter class, and using these strategically can mean the difference between success, or failure.

Another aspect to customization is the training feature, which will open up "Iso slots", which are slots that allow you to purchase and add stat boosters, which are a permanent upgrade (unless replaced). These slots allow you to add more power to your heroes, enhancing their strengths or bettering their weaknesses.

Marvel: Avengers Alliance features a large story, setup in chapters and episodes, where you will do most of your game time, and allow you to unlock more story arcs with each successful completion. The missions are presented on a city map, and the combat scenarios presented are shown, allowing you face low,medium, and high threats of standard enemies. Sometimes you will be allowed to deploy heroes on deploy missions, which will net you an item after x amount of turns, but will occupy the selected hero until it is done. Mini-boss and Boss fights are also shown in each mission, allowing you to fight super villains and henchman from Marvel Lore, such as Magneto, Loki, and many more! Completing these fights will also net you items, although completely random, like Deploy Missions.

For Player versus Player enthusiasts, there is also tournaments, which allow you to fight other players and their selected heroes for exclusive items! You can purchase player versus player specific items to give you a boost in these season tournaments, to help give you an edge over your competition, and you will need it. My only complaint about these tournaments, is that they need to add a little more balance over certain heroes, but other than that it is pretty fun!

Overall, I found this game to be a fun distraction that adds lots of play time to this facebook game, as well as challenge! Definitely for the classic role playing game fan, as well as any fan of the Marvel Universe!

Dead Space 3 Review - Spoiler Free!

Dead Space 3, the latest in the Franchise, takes a different turn from it's predecessors, but manages to keep the game feeling like Dead Space! The addition of crafting workbenches (replacing the shops), customization of your weapons, cooperative game play, resource gathering, and multiple new game plus modes adds for a lot of replay value

Story

Dead Space 3's Story takes place not too long after the events of the second game, and also features a "previously on Dead Space" extra's feature, in case you haven't played the previous games. This extra gives you a quick warm up, but I still prefer you play the previous entries to get entirely caught up on the events that came up to the third game's events. The story doesn't change that much between single and cooperative modes, but John Carver, the second player and key character to the story, offers more insight and extra dialogue when playing with a friend, as well as "Cooperative Missions", which adds more details on John Carver's back story.

Game play

The game play is where this game really shines, and offers more in this game than the previous installments. The aiming and controls are improved upon, as well as a dodge and crouch button to evade enemies, and overall just feels better. The weapons in the game are a different beast now, as you can now craft your own weapons, and include a second weapon underneath, adding to a lot of customization features, with all the weapons from the previous games at your disposal. You can find these weapon parts by progressing through the story and optional missions!

Crafting these weapons, suit upgrades, items, and more require resources. You can find these resources off of enemies, boxes, spare part boxes, and using scavenger bots. Scavenger bots can be deployed just about anywhere and found by progressing the story. When you deploy them, they will scurry about and collect items, and after a time they will return to the nearest crafting bench and you will get a tally on how much you collected. "Ration Seals" are a special resource I have found by using the scavenger bots, and these are used in buying the resource packs, which will give you more resources and special assembly parts only achieved through this method. You can also buy them with real money using your platform's currency (Microsoft points, Playstation wallet, etc), if you prefer to do so, but the big thing here, to quell any concerns regarding the micro-transactions, is that they are entirely optional and doesn't require purchase to get everything in the game!

Another item you can find and craft are the microchips, and these alter your upper and lower weapons. Microchips alter the damage, firing speed, reload time, and clip size, and are found throughout the story and optional missions. Once you acquire any part, including weapon parts and more, you can spend your resources to create more of these parts, and share them with your cooperative partner, provided they aren't exclusive unlocks, like MK-V parts or progress unlocks.

Also new to this game is the optional missions, which deter from the main path and allow you to explore new sections of the game, often providing new weapon parts and resources along the way. There is also "Cooperative Only Missions", which require a partner to explore, and open up more of John Carver's Backstory too. These missions are really fun, and are worth your while to explore and find new parts, chips, and much more!

You can also find artifacts as well in this game, which offer more back story to the universe of Dead Space, and are also part of the progress unlocks, which will give you new and exclusive items, such as powerful chips and new suits! As you complete these progress unlocks, you will gain access to these powerful items, and add the challenge to unlocking them all, and by playing the harder difficulties and New Game Plus game modes! New Game Plus offers a regular replay option, which lets you keep your items and play on harder difficulties if you wish, or play the new options, which include a "classic Dead Space mode", a "Hardcore mode", and a "Pure Survival Mode".

Overall, Dead Space 3 is a great game that features high replay value, lots of collectibles, cooperative play, and great fun overall. I recommend this game to any Dead Space fun or survival horror fan in general!

Having trouble winning games on War Games? New to the game and need some pointers? Check out Tips and Tricks Guide below to becoming a better Halo 4 player in the highly competitive world of War Games! These tips and general tips and tricks that should work in every mode, but especially team base game play types!

Crouch walk for stealthy approaches

Using the Crouch walk or simply staying still will not trigger your movements on the sensors, allowing you to use stealth to sneak up on unsuspecting players. moving along the ground will not trigger the sensors, but firing, jumping, running, walking, and so forth will display you on the sensors, as well as anyone using Promethean Vision, so you may wish to combine this with the Active Camouflage armor ability to maximize the chance for a stealthy attack, and if possible, try to assassinate as well (holding RB button aimed at the player's back).

Plasma Pistol for Anti-Vehicle and Shields

Holding the fire button will allow the plasma pistol to charge up, allowing you to decimate a player's shields and temporarily power-down a vehicle, allowing you to hijack it or destroy it with grenades or other high-power arsenals (Rocket Launchers, Plasma Grenades, Sticky Detonator,etc). Holding it too long will force the pistol to discharge and leave you open for attack as well, so make sure the shot hits! If you are a good shot, this over-charged shot will completely wreck a player's shields, leaving him open for a finishing melee strike or further small arms fire, making short work of him/her. A nasty technique for sure!

Over-charged Boltshot for close encounters

Over-charing the Boltshot will turn it into somewhat of a Mauler from Halo 3, turning it into a mini-shotgun. Pointing this over-charged shot at an enemy player at close ranged, followed up by a melee strike, makes for a good 2-hit combo to decimate your opponent! Like the Plasma Pistol, this weapon will release itself automatically if held for too long, so be sure you know your target before charging it up, and make sure you unleash this shot at melee range and follow up with the quick melee strike afterwards!

Sensitivity Settings right for you!

Like in other first person shooter games, you will want to make you the vertical and horizontal aiming speed settings are set up nicely for your play style! In most circumstances, the default setting should appeal for many players, but if it isn't right for you, then change it faster or slower, then do some practice runs with it, like in Spartan Ops or Campaign. Once these settings are perfect, then you should be good to go! This tip can be applied to nearly any First Person Shooter game, like Call of Duty and such!

Make Load outs compliment the set!

Make Load outs compliment the design it was made for! It you are making a long range, sniper type, then make sure all your load out selections compliment the design. For example, Active Camoflage, a mid-range weapon setup like a DMR or Battle Rifle, and a good choice for pistol would be like the Magnum, with a mobility mod to make it easy to get into positions without tiring out. Or for a close range soldier, have dexterity for quick reloads, and close range weapons like the assault rifle or storm rifle, with supply as well, to get more grenades from dead bodies.

Stay with the Team/Complete Objectives

For games like Dominion, where there is objectives to complete, it is more important to take these objectives than just getting kills, and working together with the team is crucial to success! Help them take those bases, and offer support fire as well! If you have a regeneration shield, or a sentry turret, deploy it and help the team push forward! Cooperating with your team to get those objectives and kill anyone in your way will be good to your success! Use Vehicles and man them to help get the advantage and take out any enemy vehicles and soldiers you may come across, because not only do you get points for it, you also get medals for it too!

Spend points for what you want!

Leveling up in this game will earn you Skill Points, which you can use to purchase anything you have unlocked with your rank. If you are a close range fighter, then go for the skills that will give you abilities to better yours in that field. If you are a mid-range type soldier, then getting the battle rifle and DMR early will be a great boon, as well as dexterity to reload your guns faster. Eventually you will unlock everything, but it will take longer the higher Spartan Rank you go up!

Primary Weapon out? Switch to Secondary!

Sometimes in the middle of a fight you will run out of ammo and still need to finish off your opponent, but instead of reloading, switch to your secondary weapon, better if you have a pistol. Pistols are quicker to ready than larger weapons, and will suffice to finish off the rest of your opponents health. This tip also works well in Call of Duty games and most FPS games in general! If you are using the dexterity option in your load out, then this will be even quicker to pull out your pistol or reload!

These tips should help you become a better Halo 4 player, especially if you are new to the series!

Halo 4 Review

Master Chief's latest adventure is a great new beginning!

Halo 4, the first official Halo game created by 343 Studios, is the mark of a great new beginning for the Halo franchise! The story, game play, high quality cut scenes, and the multi player all comes together to create a spectacular treat for any fan of the series, and I am looking forward to seeing much more of the series by the 343 Studios team and Microsoft.

Story (no Spoilers)

The story of Halo 4 is one of my favorite so far, featuring a great plot, good plot twists, and especially better character development. Previous entries in the Halo series had Master Chief with little to no personality, humorously being called a robot, because of his lack of character development and speech. In this game, he has personality and more emotion, especially when speaking with Cortana.

I found the story to be more emotional and intense from the previous entries as well, and features several characters with their own personalities and agendas, which adds to an already great story plot.

Game play

The game play is where the game truly shines, featuring the story campaign, Cooperative and competitive game play, the Forge where you can modify and have your own map designs, and the theater, where you save, edit, and share footage from movies and screenshots you have taken! You can play multi player, where you design your own Spartan IV, altering their load outs, customizing their appearance with new armor pieces and colors, and leveling up your Spartan to unlock more options! As you level up you will gain a point, which can be spent to unlock load out items, each with their own unlock points requirements, so you can pick and choose the items you wish, instead of achieving them at a set level requirement.

Spartan Ops

Spartan Ops is a cooperative game mode featuring a new story, with new episodes being released regularly. Up to 4 players can play this, and you will earn experience and level up, just like in competitive modes, with their own challenges and career stats involved. With each new episode released, you can continue the ever evolving story of Fire Team Crimson, a team of Spartan IV's deployed on Requiem.

War Games

War Games is the Competitive mode for Halo 4, featuring a wealth of game modes and types, including Slayer, Dominion, Oddball, Capture the Flag, and much more! These game types have their own rules and setups, such as Dominion being a capture and hold game type, and Oddball being a sports-like game where you carry the ball to gain points, and so forth. The many variants of game types make the competitive war games interesting and never boring.

Forge

Forge is a map tool set, where you can modify existing maps, and use several tools to change them up and create new and exciting map designs, such as objects, spawn points, and many, many more! A person good at map design, can create entirely different designs, and share them with others so that they can play it too! All game modes can be used for your Forge map, so if you favor a certain game type, you can create some interesting game play from the options available!

Theater

Theater is the mode where you can save, edit, and share your favorite movies and screenshots from your adventures in any game mode. Got an amazing kill streak or funny accident that happened in multi player? You can go back, watch the film, and record at that particular time, take screenshots, and share them with the community.

Overall

Overall, the combination of the story campaign's excellent story telling, cooperative, and competitive game play modes, plus the Forge and Theater, makes this game a must have for any Halo fan. I look forward to future installments of this game, and the multi player reminds me of Halo 3's in fun factor. Stormfall: Age of War is a competitive war game on facebook where you build up a castle, attack other Lords, steal their resources, siege them, defend and attack outposts, and much more! The game starts off with a decent and length tutorial, teaching you the basics of the game, and all the nuances within. The tutorial quests feature a decent voice actor and a text summary, immersing you into the lore of the game and giving you more detail of what to do and what to accomplish. I found the tutorials in this game to be very helpful, especially to new players of Plarium's combat war games, such as Total Domination and others.

Gameplay

There is much to do in this game, from raiding, sieges, building units, upgrading buildings, discovering new technologies, and much more! At first you will be building your main resource buildings, which include gold, iron, and food, and all of them are important in their own way. Iron is mostly used in constructing offensive units, gold for defensive units, and food is deducted for each unit and building that exists in your castle. You will also use all 3 resources in construction of your buildings and their upgrades, as well as upgrading and discovering new technologies and units.

New Technologies will grant you access to more advanced buildings, better trained units, and newer units. Each day you will receive a random scroll, which can be applied to discover a new technology, should you have enough of the required scrolls. If you do not, you can always trade them with other players via the marketplace. Once you have unlocked an unit technology, you can spend resources to upgrade them up to lvl 20, with each upgrade level increasing their overall stats by 2%.

Skull Runes are a commodity given through level ups and other means. These Runes can be applied on a "Tech Tree" of sorts, which will allow you to do things such as increasing their speed, build times, group unlocks, and other attributes. You will see the requirement of skull runes in each tree below going further down on said tree, allowing more customization and diversity from other Lords, based on their own strategies.

Units come in two main flavors, offensive and defense, and 5 sub categories (Infantry, Calvary, Occult Beastiary, and Mountain Dwarves). Each sub categorie is different in their own ways, and defensive units are better at countering specific types. For instance, a Dwarf is a defensive unit suited to countering infantry and calvary units, which adds a unique layer of strategy for a facebook war game.

In this game you can join "Leagues", which are players united in a group, and form alliances with friends. You can also visit friends and create wraiths, which are special units created from friends only and you can summon them yourself with the Crypt, but only 3 a day, everyday. You can also defend your friends with reinforcements, trade, and much more as well, adding a layer of strategy and cooperation with friends, because this a competitive game, and you could use all the friends you can get!

Overall, this is a fun, competitive, war game and if you are into strategy games and player versus player combat. you will enjoy playing this game!

The Dwarf Fortress Overview of the World

An Overview of the "Mythical World of Cyclones", featuring the continent of "The Scaled Lands"

This is the world in which we will be doing "let's plays" of. The first location is still being decided, but in the meantime, check out what exists in this world we created. If you want the world seed and everything, all seeds are numbered "1000" including creature and history seeds, with a 1400 embark points, and I believe 1 cave option.

From what we were reading, most of the demons and creations exist in the southeastern corner in the tundra, featuring a cave I will send an adventurer to scout out sometime, to see how far that cave goes.

Also we found a case of Were-Elephants spreading the curse, killing, and devouring others, caused by the anger of a God. Also, a powerful female human Vampire, "Tique Beerswhisky" is the ruler of a civilization, cursed by a forgiving and merciful God, which seems hypocritical, but she has over 1500 kills under her belt and ruled up until recently, leaving her post, but still being a law giver in her town to the current day.

Death and Destruction runs rampant in this land, with a war against the goblin menace, controlled by a fox demon. Abductions are rampant as well, turning humans, elves, and dwarfs against their own kind. The Titans of the world are vanishing, the Age of Legends is in it's infancy, and the start of a new fortress and it's story will soon be told.

What will happen? What insanity will occur? Who will lead the charge of the fortress and bring it to success.... or failure? Stay tuned and subscribe for more updates! Whenever new updates occur I will provide links connecting the stories together
