The process of taking a raw Japanese script to English translated script and making it useful for the dubbing process.

This is part 2 of the "Get Paid to Work in Anime" Panel hosted by the Japan Visual Translation Academy (JVTA).

This video talks primarily about translating the original script from Japanese into other languages, localizing the production to a particular country or region, taking culture into account when offering the finished product to audiences in foreign countries.

In the same way, you cannot literally translate something without interpreting it for an audience, as is demonstrated in this video with a clip from a literally translated, subtitled production.
