I had planned to make this site all about travel, not exactly those that I and the whole family did. Information may include tips on cheap travels, on discounted tickets, hotel promos for the family, best beach-vacation package or simply finding great cheap chicago hotel info pages.

I was partly able to fulfill that...I have written about hotels we've stayed on, incoming promos as well as discounts and where to get coupons, tips on traveling with kids and small stuff that help me avoid accidents with them around.

With school vacation fast approaching, I've been on the lookout for budget travels. I was able to find an apartment that a family can rent for a whole week...fully-furnished, wifi connection, situated at the heart of the city I chose to go to, most importantly: much cheaper than hotels! I thank websites like that, they provide a lot of information, photos, feedback from customers so I easily get the story behind each experience. It's much easier to choose that way.

Don't you just love discount coupons and promotional codes? I do! I think most of us do---during our recent trip back home I was given 10 discount coupons by the ticketing agency for buying 5 plane tickets from them. They were 10 euro discount coupons for the 1st district branch of TGI Friday's. Now, I just need to tag along 2 other friends to use the coupons.

Be it food places, shoe stores or techie gadget coupons, I think we are more driven to buy when we have those. It's the same force that pulls us inside shopping malls when we see the big 4-letter-word: SALE! Using coupons to save money is simply being smart, you save money and you can use that money for something else. I especially love coupons for shoes, clothes and travel too! I think the best vacation is one that is spent with lots of free stuff with it! ;-)

For hubby Computer coupons would be the best, as he is always into the newest gadgets regarding them. He does spend much I'm afraid to say so having coupons would lighten the load :D. A piperlime coupon code would be perfect for me, they are giving out upto 70% off their items. I was ecstatic that Boots are to be shipped free! Handbags and other items are out for grabs too! Now all I have to do is write a review to get that coupon. Off to writing again...

It would be nice to have a set of camera lenses whenever one travels. I thank hubby that he supports this hobby of mine so he himself bought different types of lenses. Sometimes though I think that we are spending too much on camera accessories...well, that's how it is I guess but then now there are shops that offers lens rentals! They also offer other rental needs, for cameras, tripod, light meters and all. It's a good way to try and feel the lenses first if you consider buying!

Years ago, working as a photographer, I would normally bring my camera case with only my slr camera in it of course. Nowadays though, I got a bigger camera and other gadgets with it so now I always carry a bigger camera bag complete with "compartments" for batteries, lens, and other accessories. It has always been with me on a day trip even when I'm just out in the city. The only time I left it in confusion was on our emergency trip, lot of thoughts in my head that I thought hubby has it and I thought he took it. :D

When hubby started as a self-employed worker we had more time to travel. It doesn't mean though that it could be pure vacation. Beauties at the Butterfly Park

Aside from the sunny skies that Singapore offers, the colorful butterflies and flowers are to boast of too. My good friend Syel always presents such lovely photos of them...so when I saw this santan-look alike I immediately took a shot! Until now, we don't know how it is rightfully called.

The Butterfly Park in Sentosa houses a collection of butterflies and insects among other of the Kingdom Fauna.

Aside from displays, they are live butterflies, parrots, other birds, turtle and an iguana...(will be posted soon! It is very usual to see the butterflies on the floor so be careful, so you don't step on them...I just took a photo of this yellowish critter....good thing the kids saw it and didn't mistake t for a leaf!

Here is the real santan flower...in pink...looks much the same as the one above sans the long stamen.

Of course, I said Beauties at the Butterfly Park...dawty is surely one of them....hihi. Have a nice week everyone!

Mountaineering

Back in college when we were choosing what clubs to join, the Mountaineering club was on top of my list. I don't remember what happened but I wasn't able to pursue that. Now, living in a mountainous region it is easier to finally go climbing, but we enjoy it iced than dry! But its probably a good time to try...

More thoughts about dogs

While browsing trough a dog website I was once again taken back to my childhood...when all I play with were dogs instead of dolls. I don't remember a time that I don't have a dog for a pet. And every time they die I cried...(no kidding here!)

As previously mentioned I would love to once again have a pet if given the chance, a Chowchow in particular or a chocolate Labrador or a Cavalier King Charles spaniel. The Chowchow for the furry look and oh-so huggable cuteness, the Labrador for that lovely color and the spaniel for its elegance, if there's such a thing. :D

I had my share of experiences owning a Bulldog and a Boston Terrier and I think I wouldn't be ready having stubborns at home (I already have 3 kids for that!). *sigh* Now I have to wait some more years before I can finally have a dog around the house...

Singapore Skywatching

The Sunny city didn't disappoint...I enjoyed viewing the sky everytime I look up. It rained a bit on our arrival but not for long, it was like a welcome shower of sorts lol.

On our way to Sentosa, we stopped by Vivo City, one of the world's largest mall (i think) and took some photos outside. Not having enough, I took photos of the sky from the airplane window too! ;) A sample is below.

Longing for a dog

Are you a dog or a cat person? I'll definitely say I'm a dog person! Even as a kid I enjoyed hacing dogs and puppies at home than I would cats. I would attest to the truthfulness of the saying that dogs are a "man's best friend". Growing up I never really cared about giving dog names except for those that follows their colors. If there ever was one I remember until now, it has to be Caster, my bulldog that I had when I was in gradeschool...I cried when it died... :D (I could really be attached to my pets that's why).

Recently too I've been playing pet pupz in Facebook...since I cannot have a real dog at home...(3 kids is too much and one having asthma won't help). Adopting a virtual pet is the closest to having a real one, I guess. There are lots of dog breeds to choose from and I picked out a Japanese chowchow! This one is really cute..with eyes covered in fur, its adorable looking and one I'd definitely love to hug! I wouldn't mind the color if ever I get one... So which dog would you like to have as a pet?
