Smashed to pieces (in the still of the night)

This is the meaning of the inscription at the Falkturm in Esterházypark, where the Haus des Meeres is. The kids and I went up the deck to take some photos as it was a very lovely winter afternoon...with the sun out and clouds in full.

The Flakturms are six large, built of reinforced concrete defense and protective structures in Vienna, built within the years 1942 to 1945 as huge air-raid shelters with fitted air defense guns and fire control.

Whenever I'm out on a walk in the busy district of Vienna, I would snap at anything I could; street performers, balloon vendor, shop displays, statues, coffee tables and chairs. Until now I haven't really realized that most of the stuff I've photographed where these mini-tables outside coffee shops and restaurants.

They come in different colors and make and that's I think what has attracted me. Like, no one really cares about these stuff when doing their daily business, but hey, they have a long history behind them too, dating back to the 17th century. I think I posted about it earlier here...and yes, I think I have a lot of photos of them I took during our trips. ^_^

The train lines U2 (violet) and U3 (orange) intersects at the Volkstheater station. It is one of the cleanest stations in the city - the most picturesque too with displays of features from two of the cities' biggest museums which are nearby and some murals. One of the biggest is “Nature in the Making” (Das Werden der Natur) by Anton Lehmden.

Mozart experienced issues with his health throughout his life, suffering from smallpox, tonsillitis, bronchitis, pneumonia, typhoid fever, rheumatism and gum disease. His final illness began when he visited Prague to supervise the performance of his new opera La clemenza di Tito in 1791. The visit was fairly successful from a professional standpoint, however, while in Prague Mozart began to feel ill. Early Mozart biographer Franz Niemetschek wrote, "...he was pale and expression was sad, although his good humour was often shown in merry jest with his friends.

Following his return to Vienna, Mozart's condition gradually worsened. For a while, he was still able to work and completed his Clarinet Concerto, worked toward the completion of the Requiem, and conducted the premiere performance of The Magic Flute on 30 September.
