STOP trying to make McDonald's happen!

2014-02-07T21:24:00.001-08:00

So the first McDonald's store (yuk!) in Việt Nam will open its doors tomorrow in Sài Gòn. I'd seen these hipsters there posting pictures of the junks that they get at the store acting all special because they get to sample the foods first. Seriously, it's McDonald's, possibly one of the worse if not the worse fast food chains so hipsters in Việt Nam please STOP trying to make McDonald's happen because it is wrong on so many levels and the last things people in Việt Nam need is another contributing factors to an obesity epidemic! There is no way I will trade super tasty bánh mì for burgers from McDonald's, NO WAY!

Rant over... sort of.

You Read It Here First! Paris By Night Is (Maybe) Going The Way Of The Dodo Bird

2013-03-25T20:39:00.000-07:00

Sad news for those that liked/loved Paris By Night and schadenfreude for those that loathed it, per Trần Thái Hòa's facebook post just now that Thúy Nga might quit producing their music video after the taping of their 30th anniversary show this July in Las Vegas. The main culprit was cited as the rampart piracy of their products. Below are some of Trần Thái Hòa's posts explaining and complaining about piracy.

Taking bets right now, will this leave Asia as the undisputed king in the oversea entertainment world or a smaller company will seize the crown?

Not that I have to remind y'all but don't be illegal and buy real!

Update - Trần Thái Hòa (of course!) already deleted his post. Meh...

Peek-A-Boo* of the Week

2011-07-15T12:40:00.000-07:00

This famous oversea female singer wait on hand and foot for her boyfriend and his children. That isn't the worse part, the worse part is he's abusive toward her. Come to think of it, she is as dumb as she look.

*for legal reasons we will not be able to reveal the person or persons in the blind item below but guessing is part of the fun so guess away!

Is Hồ Ngọc Hà's Son The Second Coming Or What?

2011-06-27T17:18:00.000-07:00

I don't remember the media in Việt Nam ever gone this gaga over a kid. The little boy in the picture below is supposedly be the Second Coming aka the son of Hồ Ngọc Hà and Cường $. What is everyone fascination with Hồ Ngọc Hà and her đại gia? She shacked up with an ugly but rich guy then quickly popped out a kid. There is nothing wrong with a gold digger with a plan!

All the attention surrounding this couple is baffling. Hồ Ngọc Hà can at least claim that she have a job but what does Cường $ do for living? He is known for being a playboy that blow his mommy's ill-gotten wealth on expensive cars, gadgets, partying and assorted gold diggers all while still look like an awkward, ugly teenager. No one would spare Cường $ a second glance if he have no money.

Let's hope their son will take after his mommy in the look department otherwise ... poor kid.

Hồ Ngọc Hà and Cường $ son.

Fashionably Correct - Ngô Thanh Vân

2011-06-19T16:23:00.000-07:00

I like this outfit on Ngô Thanh Vân, it is classy, chic and understated. She reminded me of Audrey Hepburn in Roman Holiday though a pair of simple espadrille wedges would look much better than the colorful sandals she wore for the photo shoot.

Want To Flush Some Of Your Hard Earned Cash Down The Toilet?

2011-06-17T09:29:00.000-07:00

Singer Trúc Linh would like to help you part with some of your hard earned money by trying to sell you some ridiculously over-priced, hoochie mama style, trashy looking, mostly likely spandex/polyester dresses from her namesake collection. These dresses will set you back $245 to $270, for these prices you can go to a real store for some cute dresses or save your cash and head to one of those fast fashion stores to buy all these disposable junks for one tenth of the price.

These dresses are the definition of classy, ghetto hoodrats will have nothing on you on the dance floor at the local stripper joint. Add a pair of lucite heels with these demure dresses and you're in business!

Aren't these classy or what?

What $245 to $270 can get you.

Who Knew These Photos Of Ngô Tiến Đoàn Caused A Storm In Việt Nam

2011-06-16T11:51:00.000-07:00

The press in Việt Nam need to get out a bit more before they pounced on Ngô Tiến Đoàn. If they read Men's Health then they will know that these kind of photos are standard for a publication like them. There were nothing wrong with the photos Haruehun Airry took of Ngô Tiến Đoàn for the Thailand edition of Men's Health. I find it ridiculous that Ngô Tiến Đoàn have to defend his work as model. Yes, the photos are risqué but he was just doing his job as model, no more no less. If anything I wonder if the outrage might have more to do with the homoerotic undertone of the photos even though the media in Việt Nam will not admit to this.

I only post a few pictures, the rest of them are here. You can drool over the photos or lament the fact that you don't have his chiseled body. One thing though, as hot as his body is his face doesn't do anything for me but I'm probably part of the minority in saying this.

If I'm a guy with a body like Ngô Tiến Đoàn I will swagger around semi-naked all the time. A hot body like this should not be cover up in clothes! ;)

Thanh Thảo Need To Go Away!

2011-06-15T12:29:00.000-07:00

Thanh Thảo need to go away because everyone is sick of her. She need to do some charitable works such as run a soup kitchen, help elderly folks, visit an orphanage, so on and so forth to rehab her public image. The world do not revolve around her as she probably believed it is. She brought public scrutiny on to herself by yapping about Bình Minh as if he is single and hers already except everyone know he's married with a kid. Her actions was disrespectful to Bình Minh's wife and brought attention on her questionable behavior when in her words she is coping with the death of her grandmother.

It's not like she's so new to the industry that she does not know how to play the PR game. Remember when she and Quang Dũng was pimping out their relationship to every media outlet that would give them the time of day? She did not shut up about it even after they broke up. She cannot expect to have her cake and scoff it down too. She played coy about boning a married guy then get all indignant when people called her out on it. Her fame whoring antics is getting pathetic at this point. Contrary to the popular belief that there is "no such thing as bad publicity", Thanh Thảo's admission of home-wrecking is bad publicity. She need to step up her fame whoring game or go away, preferably for good. She is more famous than she deserved especially with a singing voice that a friend of mine referred to as "sound like a strangled wet cat".

With Bình Minh in one of her music videos.

Barf-worthy corniness.

Barf!

The media in Việt Nam need to lay off about Bình Minh's wife, she's older than him but she hardly look old and beastly like the way they wrote about her. If the rumors are true then he really is a dog, a match for Thanh Thảo!

Did Ngô Thanh Vân Upgrade Or Downgrade?

2011-06-07T10:52:00.000-07:00

Ngô Thanh Vân unveiled her new boyfriend where else but on her facebook account, his name is Patrick Nguyễn and he's a personal trainer and own/work at Hardcore Fitness for those out there that are dying with curiosity. I know that a lot of you think Johnny Trí Nguyễn bring the hotness but he doesn't do anything for me. Mr. Patrick Nguyễn got my "upgrade" vote for wearing glasses. I guess this picture might be miss Ngô way of confirming that her on and off relationship with Johnny Trí Nguyễn is finally over for good.

Scroll down for a picture of Ngô Thanh Vân's new man weight training with Johnny Trí Nguyễn, they are friends.

No One Ever Accused Lã Thanh Huyền Of Being Smart

2011-06-06T10:01:00.000-07:00

This is what Việt Nam get for relentlessly promoting all these brainless beauty queens then get all shocked when they acted exactly like what they are, brainless beauty queens.

To Lã Thanh Huyền, you married a filthy rich đại gia and apparently lived in a huge penthouse so maybe it's time to stay home, be a housewife and give thanks for your good fortunes, yes? Here's an even better idea, GO AWAY!

Jennifer Phạm and Quang Dũng Need To Ignore Each Other

2011-06-05T12:03:00.000-07:00

It's strange that Jennifer Phạm and Quang Dũng were able to be tight-lipped enough about the disintegration of their short marriage for a while then suddenly both are out for blood. Miss Phạm was apparently quoted saying that she "need a strong shoulder for her and her son to lean on", Quang Dũng fired back with "he's still here to take care of his son". He also let loose that his ex-wife current squeeze (is? was?) a good friend of his (drama!). Anyway, for their son's sake both of them need to ignore and stop taking shots at each other in interviews. Normally this would be fun to watch two famous exes going at it in the public arena except there is a kid involved who did not asked to be in the middle of all this public bickering.

Think about it Jennifer Phạm and Quang Dũng, if both of you hold your tongues right now then your son will not read about his parents badmouthed each other in public later and you two will get to keep your nice public images intact. Win-win for everyone!

In happier time...

To Watch Or Not To Watch Cánh Đồng Bất Tận (Floating Lives)

2011-06-03T09:47:00.000-07:00

I read this short story by Nguyễn Ngọc Tư a few years back. It was very good, it had great characterizations, excellent proses but the subject matter was bleak with a shocking ending that was heartbreakingly sad yet bitter sweet at the same time. The story have plenty of violence especially toward women, I was seriously distressed at the beginning when the Sương got beaten, chased and assorted nastiness done to her by a mob and again at the end when Nương was raped and her father was forced to watch (highlight the text to read the spoilers). Cánh Đồng Bất Tận is a tough read and not for the faint of heart but definitely worth reading.

Back to the movie, I know it was released last year in Việt Nam but I have not seen the movie yet because I was not sure if I can sit through all 110 minutes of it. The trailer look good, the acting look better than typical Vietnamese movies. I think I will go read the story again then watch the movie to see how well it translated into movie form.

Cô Dâu Đại Chiến (Battle Of The Brides) Look Painfully Bad

2011-05-27T09:27:00.000-07:00

If the trailer of Cô Dâu Đại Chiến aka Battle of the Brides is anything to go by, it probably is a horrible movie, it does not even look like one of those so bad it's good movies. Being drunk or stoned is needed to watch this movie because there is no way anyone can sit through this turkey sober. The movie look like it is full of one stupid cliché after another starting with the mustache on the face of the male lead. The premise of the movie seem stale (and suspiciously similar to the the not so good American teen rom-com John Tucker Must Die), with unattractive leads and atrocious acting all around which mean it's a must-miss!

This lead role should come naturally for Huy Khánh, he's playing himself!

Haters To The Left, Huyền Ny's Solo CD/DVD Is Coming

2011-05-26T10:22:00.000-07:00

You read it right ladies and gentlemen, Huyền Ny is currently working on her solo CD/DVD. She is really serious about establishing a singing career. Hooray for Huyền Ny, boo for our ears! I hope her acting and mannerism will be better in her solo effort because she's always so wooden when she performed on stage. No, I will not admit publicly that I watched her music videos when I'm bored and gasp! ... might or might not enjoyed them for a laugh or two. ;)

To The Lovely Hồ Hoàng Yến

2011-05-25T10:26:00.000-07:00

Dear Hồ Hoàng Yến,

We're here at VietCelebs.net think that you are a beautiful woman so we don't understand why you don't stand up straight. Slouching just isn't sexy. Also, you should inform the producers at Asia that you have a good voice already so there is no need to distract the audience by having you wear incredibly low-cut, see-through dresses in your performances. It is time they stopped asking you to wear a dress so flimsy that it seemed to hold together by the power of a prayer and dresses so low-cut that they were an exhaled breath and half a piece of double-sided tape away from a wardrobe malfunction. You have the whole package (face, body & voice) so Asia's executives need to understand that in your case less is more.

We wish you a long and successful career and we hope that your Bão Tình album was well-received.

XOXO,

The staff (of one!) @ VietCelebs.net
