“The human facet of development is to be prioritized since the technological progress has to reach the grassroots level,” said Prof. G. Rajarami Reddy, Vice-Chancellor, Vikrama Simhapuri University on 63^rd Republic Day celebrations on the University campus. Talking on the occasion, he said that inclusiveness in the development process will lead towards sustainability and self-reliance. The nation is now at the historic moment of transition adopting modern technology and reaching the masses with far-reaching progressive methods for their development, he said. Higher Education which is one of the decisive aspects of national construction and sustenance is also at its promising stages of yielding fruition and fulfillment for national glory, he said. The strength of the nation depends on the knowledge exploration and deliverance and such a progressive vision towards enablement will build the pride for the country, he said.

Earlier, the Vice-Chancellor hoisted the National Flag accompanied by the Registrar, Prof. V. Narayana Reddy, and the Principal Prof. M. Srinivasulu Reddy, amid the chant of the National Anthem. The members of faculty and students exchanged Republic Day wishes.

Blood Donation Camp organized by NSS Unit of the University

On the occasion, a Blood Donation Camp was organized in the Seminar Hall of the University. In the aftermath of the Republic Day Celebrations, Prof. G.Rajarami Reddy inaugurated the camp and Prof. V. Narayana Reddy, Registrar, accompanied him. 40 donors both from members of faculty and the students donated blood. The NSS unit of the University was organizing socially motivating activities regularly, said Dr. Ramesh Reddy, NSS Coordinator. Dr. Y. Vijaya, NSS Programme Officer was also present. Prof. M. Srinivasulu Reddy, Prinicipal, VSU College led from the front donating blood.

G. Rajarami Reddy, Vice-Chancellor of Vikram Simhapuri University, called upon the managements of affiliated colleges to encourage and create a dynamic environment for bringing out research potential among the present generation.

Addressing a meeting of the correspondents and the principals representing nearly 70 colleges, Prof. Rajarami Reddy said that before the technological changes overwhelmed the colleges, they should adopt right practices and methods to become highly competitive thereby giving a better scope for students. Prof. Reddy also called upon the colleges to have their own websites and post information in order that they take advantage of the faster modes of communication available in the current technology driven scenario. Prof. V. Narayana Reddy, Registrar, VSU, said that with the Vice-Chancellor's forthright vision the university will keep the same pace in achieving the 12(b) status and very soon the university will undertake construction process at the site allotted for it on the city outskirts.

M. Chandraiah, Dean, College Development Council (CDC), said that the colleges maintain academic discipline and proper conduct of the classes so that committed and focused students come for higher education.

“The land of opportunities have immense possibilities in research and higher education and the Indians are yet to avail themselves of this potential,” said Dr. K. Chandra Reddy, Dean & Director, Tennesse State University, Nashville, USA, on entering into an MoU with Vikrama Simhapuri University, Nellore, on 20^th December 2011, for exploring a meaningful mutual cooperation in academics and trans-national research possibilities.

Talking on the occasion, Dr. Reddy took a dig at students not aiming and dreaming high to go to higher studies. “There is an inclusive academic culture at all levels in the USA focusing on multiple branches of study,” he said. “A University is a microcosm of multiple disciplines and there is every chance for a sincere and bright student to get assistance both financially and academically in USA in case of clearing GRE/ TOEFL examinations,” he said.

Earlier, Prof. G. Rajarami Reddy, Vice-Chancellor of the University exchanged the Letters of Agreement with Dr. Reddy and termed the moment as special and momentous. The Vice-Chancellor held that the MoU promotes joint proposals for collaborative research and training in Water and Natural Resources Management, Marine Biology, Agricultural Biotechnology and Bio-safety, Food safety and Food Laws, Intellectual Property Rights, Technology Transfer and umpteen areas.

The Vice-Chancellor sounded positive that with the acquaintances he had abroad, the University will have some more MoUs with prestigious Universities in the USA. This kind of understandings will enable to deliver quality education and go trans-national in drawing broader scope in both teaching and research, he said.

Prof. V. Narayana Reddy, Registrar said that the University is growing stronger under the dynamic leadership of the Vice-Chancellor. He thanked Dr. Chandra Reddy for his readiness to help the University through this MoU and by virtue of it to help the student community at large.

Vice-Chancellor's Book on Environmental Pollution released at Gwalior

Vikrama Simhapuri University (VSU) Vice-Chancellor G. Rajarami Reddy and R. Vijaya Raghavan, Director of Defence Research Laboratory, Gwalior, released a book on `Environmental Pollution Ecology and Human Health'.

Prof. Reddy is also principal editor for the Environmental Pollution Ecology and Human Health .

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Reddy said the book comprises expert insights of invited articles analysing the evolving tendencies in toxicology, immunology and neuro degenerative disorders.

BIZ GITA 2011: Students urged to be result-oriented

Management students of Vikrama Simhapuri University (VSU) discussed on latest courses in MBA, importance of field visits and the placements being offered by different companies.

The senior and junior students along with the faculty made a platform to share their views on higher studies and the new companies coming up in the area, in the ‘Biz Gita – 2011' programme organised by MBA department at the university seminar hall in Nellore on Thursday.

The young managers under the guidance of MBA in charge Head of the Department, Suja.S.Nair and event coordinator K.Vijay Kumar arranged four events – ‘Biz-Quiz', ‘Ad-kZap', ‘Innovative Product' and ‘Young Manager', at the one-day management gala.

Addressing the students VSU Vice-Chancellor G.Rajarami Reddy asked the management students to be more practical and result-oriented to face the competition in the market.

He stressed the need for organising more field visits and for taking up projects with innovative ideas.

VSU Registrar V.Narayana Reddy said the seminars, workshops and interactive sessions will sharpen the young minds and congratulated the organisers for arranging the meet.

Stating that the opportunities always galore for talented professionals in the market, Mr.Reddy said the university has designed the curriculum in such a way that the students will get jobs immediately after completion of the courses.

Many students who passed out from VSU acquired jobs in reputed companies, he said and assured to extend full support for the staff and faculty in organising more programmes.

Later, the Vice-Chancellor and the Registrar distributed prizes to the students who excelled in the events.

SPOT ADMISSIONS FOR MBA & MCA IN VSU

Spot Admissions will be conducted for the seats vacant in MBA, MCA and MBA (Tourism Management) in Vikrama Simhapuri University College, Nellore, and VSU PG Centre, Kavali, at Vikrama Simhapuri University Administration Building, Dargamitta, Nellore, on 26^th November 2011. Candidates who have qualified in ICET – 2011 and obtained 50% of marks in Under Graduation are eligible for admission, said Registrar, Prof. V. Naryana Reddy. Candidates seeking admission into these courses should bring all the certificates: ICET Rank card, TC, CC, Provisional Certificate of the Qualifying Degree, six photographs, two photocopies of all the certificates, and the total fee to be paid.

Admissions will be conducted in the Administration Building, Dargamitta, Nellore, from 10:00 AM to the evening. Candidates should not fail to bring any of the certificates mentioned above for the Spot Admissions. The fee to be paid by the candidates is Rs. 13,000/- (Thirteen thousand only) in the VS University College, Nellore and in VSU PG Centre, Kavali the fee is Rs. 30,000/- (Thirty thousand only).

Candidates who got admitted MBA, MCA, MBA (Tourism Management) through Spot Admissions are not entitled to get Social Welfare Scholarships or Fee Reimbursement of the Government of Andhra Pradesh.

Chief Minister assures support to VSU

Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy has assured to do all possible help from the government for the progressive plans of Vikrama Simhapuri University (VSU).

Vikrama Simhapuri University (VSU) Vice-Chancellor G.Rajarami Reddy, who assumed office recently, called on the Chief Minister along with his wife G.Usha Rani and university Registrar V.Narayana Reddy at Hyderabad on Wednesday. The V-C thanked Mr.Kiran Kumar Reddy for his appointment and assured to develop the new university in all spheres.

The university officials urged the Chief Minister to grant more funds for construction of the buildings and sanction teaching and non-teaching posts for imparting quality education to the students.

Mr.Kiran Kumar Reddy asked the VSU authorities to portray the heritage and culture of Nellore district, which is having great history, in the architecture plans of the institution buildings and assured of all help for the uplift of the new university.

The VC and Registrar along with Nellore MLA Anam Vivekananda Reddy and MLC Vakati Narayana Reddy met Deputy Chief Minister Damodara Raja Narasimha and Finance Minister Anam Ramnarayana Reddy and explained the plans for improvement of the varsity.

Mr.Narayana Reddy said that a meeting will be held on November 24, to finalize the tenders for construction of buildings at the site allotted for the university. Officials of various departments of the district will also attend the meeting, said Mr.Reddy.

The V-C and Registrar also met the Higher Education, Technical Education and other department's officials and sought their cooperation in all future endeavours.

Priority will be given for research programmes: VSU Vice-Chancellor

Vikrama Simhapuri University (VSU) Vice-Chancellor G. Rajarami Reddy has said that priority would be given for research programmes and tap natural resources and industrial potential for the development of the new university.

Dr.Rajarami Reddy, who hails from an agricultural family from Vendodu village in the district, assumed charge at his chambers here on Friday. Present on this occasion were amid his parents G.Sidda Reddy and Ratnamma and his wife Usha Rani. Speaking on the occasion, the V-C said VSU has made much progress and is far ahead of the other new universities in the State with land allocated, foundation laid for construction of buildings and enough funds sanctioned from University Grants Commission (UGC) and the State government. He thanked the former Vice-Chancellor C.R.Visweswara Rao for bringing good reputation for the university.

“It is my duty to further develop the university, especially on research activity. Nellore is famous for philanthropy. All ways and means will be tapped and considered for standing up to the expectations of the public. I have plans for an all round development of the university in all angles,” said Dr.Rajarami Reddy, who is pursuing Doctorate in Science from Berhampur Univesity.

He said that his first visit would be to the Defence Research Laboratory at Gwalior on November 29, to raise funds for the research and development work. Mr.Reddy was keen on getting 12 (b) for the university as the PG Centre at Kavali, attached to VSU, is well established and the infrastructure facilities will be an added advantage for getting clearance from the UGC.

Dr.Rajarami Reddy, who completed his schooling in Kommaneturu and Venkannapelam villages in Nellore district, studied at Sri Venkateswara Arts College, Tirupati. He was a gold medallist from S.V.University, in Zoology in 1975.

He produced 13 Ph.Ds, seven M.Phils and has 84 national and international publications. Prof.Reddy spent eight years in USA for doing research programmes in various universities and travelled widely in Canada, USA, Korea, Scotland and Australia. He won awards for his researches in India and abroad. VSU Registrar V.Narayana Reddy said the State and Central governments sanctioned Rs.22.5 crore for constructions of academic building, lecture halls, laboratories, library, auditorium, hostel and other structures in the site allotted for the university. Already, UGC has released Rs.2.5 crore and the State Government has released equal amount. The construction process would be started after finalising the tenders, said Mr.Reddy.

New Vice-Chancellor for VSU

G. Rajarami Reddy, a professor in Zoology, took charge as second Vice-Chancellor of Vikrama Simhapuri University (VSU) in his chambers here on Friday. He signed on the first file to pay salaries to the administrative staff of the University.

A native of Vendodu village of Sri Potti Sriramulu Nellore district, Mr. Reddy worked for a brief period in Kavali Post Graduate Centre and joined as assistant professor in Sri Venkateswara University (SVU), Tirupati. He specialised in Neuroscience, Toxicology and Pharmacology.

Dr. Rajarami Reddy took the blessings of his parents G. Sidda Reddy and mother Ratnamma in the office before assuming charge. VSU Registrar V. Narayana Reddy, Principal T. Sudha, Kavali PG Centre Special Officer Shiva Shankar, D. K. W. Government Women's College Principal Dr. A. Sarada Devi, VSU media co-ordinator K. Narasimha Rao welcomed the new Vice-Chancellor amid vedic chants.

The Vice-Chancellor performed pujas before assuming office and formally met Finance Minister Anam Ramnarayana Reddy at his residence and sought his co-operation for the development of the new university. Later, he visited different sections in the office and introduced the teaching and non-teaching staff.

The university management will take steps to recruit persons for the vacant teaching and non-teaching posts for better functioning and start new courses which are job oriented in Nellore district, he said.

Gottipolu Rajarami Reddy, a senior professor of zoology at Sri Venkateswara University, has been appointed the new Vice-Chancellor of Vikrama Simhapuri University (VSU), Nellore.

SVU Vice-Chancellor N. Prabhakara Rao handed over the order copy received from the State government along with the relieving order to Prof. Rajarami Reddy, who will formally take charge at Nellore on Friday. In fact, Prof. Reddy hails from Nellore district.

In an informal chat after receiving the order copy, Prof. Reddy said he would strive to bring fame to the varsity and live up to the expectations of the government. Prof. Rao hoped that the appointment of Prof. Reddy, a scientist of international repute, would augur well for the nascent VSU in overcoming teething troubles.

Give priority to games and sports: VSU Registrar

Vikrama Simhapuri University (VSU) Registrar V. Narayana Reddy has appealed to college managements to pay attention in giving priority for sports and games in the institutions and nurture good sports persons from the university.

Addressing principals and correspondents of various colleges under VSU here on Thursday, Mr. Reddy said that while there were nearly 125 institutions under the university, only few teams participated in the All India Inter University Tournaments held recently from VSU. The managements should allot playgrounds, provide games and appoint qualified physical directors in all institutions.

As colleges were collecting fee for developing sports and games, the institutions should see to it that infrastructure for games and sports is improved and more sportsmen and women are created from the university.

Mr. Reddy thanked Finance Minister Anam Ramnarayana Reddy for sanctioning a sports hostel in Nellore, and asked sports personalities to avail the facility. The university officials will visit colleges and verify the steps being taken to improve sports in the institutions.

The management will not hesitate to cancel affiliation, if they fail to follow the instructions in this regard, he warned.

Vikrama Simhapuri University students union titled ‘Council of Societies' was inaugurated at the university PG centre at Kavali in the district on Friday. The new organisation aims at providing a platform for students and faculty to exchange views to help youngsters to participate more in academic as well as co-curricular activities.

Sri Venkateswara University (SVU) Registrar J. Prathap Reddy who was the chief guest for the programme complimented the students for forming a new union in the university.

He asked students to focus more on getting jobs in the industries and other units which are coming up in Nellore district.

Later, cultural programmes organised by students enthralled audience.

VSU gets Rs. 10 crore additional grant

The State government has released Rs.10 crore additional grant for the Vikrama Simhapuri University (VSU).

The amount would be used for construction of buildings for the new university, said VSU Registrar V.Narayana Reddy.

Speaking to the newsmen here on Saturday, he said Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy during his recent visit to Nellore district has assured to sanction additional grant for the university. On October 21, the Finance Department has issued the GO sanctioning the amount.

Already, the university is having Rs.12.5 crore and with the fresh grant, the figure rose to Rs. 22.5 crore and the university will start construction of the academic building, hostel, library, auditorium and other structures in the 84 acre site allotted for VSU at Kakuturu village on Nellore outskirts, said Mr. Reddy.

Results Released

The registrar released the B.Ed. results at the administrative building here on Saturday. Of the 2,034 candidates appeared for the examinations, 1,550 were passed (76 percent). Girls outnumbered boys with 81 per cent pass percentage in the results, said Mr. Narayana Reddy.

Stating that the university management has observed poor amenities in some B.Ed colleges in the district, the registrar said the VSU will constitute a high power committee soon and conduct surprise checks to verify the teaching and non-teaching staff particulars and infrastructure in B.Ed. colleges, he said.

The university management will not compromise in providing quality education for the students and asked the college managements to cooperate with the government in this regard.

Gesture appreciated

VSU in-charge Vice-Chancellor N. Prabhakara Rao, founder Vice-Chancellor C.R. Visweswara Rao and the Registrar thanked the government and Finance Minister Anam Ramnarayana Reddy for sanctioning the grant for the university.
