While doing this post about cool and creative ads, various thoughts came to my mind. The first one – I want to start my own advertising agency. Why? Because this must be the best job ever – you just create all kind of innovative, funny and odd ideas and get paid for it. Plus, to implement those cool ideas you do photography, illustrations and other creative things, which I just love doing.

Oh, and I had some other thoughts – like, there is a thin line between a good and very bad ad. For example, using cement mixer truck (ad #12) to look like a kebab, might be really creative and eye catchy, but the question is what kind of message does it deliver? In this particular case, the only thing that pops up in my mind is –  those kebabs taste like cement, and that’s a bad, bad advert.

This is a huge (225 square meter) sticker in a mall with people looking like cooties from the upper floors. There were actually 3 malls in a city with such a creative advert.

The goal of this cool calendar was to be a long-time reminder for the product as well as raising interest of major customers. There are 2 earplugs: one that has to be put in an ear for a particular month, and another one for a particular day.

Since childhood, Junior Fritz Jacquet is fascinated by the paper. He explores and experiments with different techniques of folding and crumpling to create new forms and poetic objects that decorate his life.

While he makes a lot of different artworks from paper (you can find them here), my attention was caught by his weird toilet paper roll sculptures.

Who could have thought that those toilet paper rolls that we use to throw away into a garbage bin, could be turned into fascinating face sculptures?

Oh, and the best thing is that you can make them while sitting comfortably on your toilet!

Continuing our article series about the most creative artists in the world this time we present David Cerny from Czech Republic.

Wikipedia: “David Černý (born December 15, 1967 in Prague) is a Czech sculptor whose works can be seen in many locations in Prague. His works tend to be controversial. He gained notoriety in 1991 by painting a Soviet tank pink that served as a war memorial in central Prague. As the Monument to Soviet tank crews was still a national cultural monument at that time, his act of civil disobedience was considered “hooliganism” and he was briefly arrested.”

Lucerna Palace’s central atrium is dominated by Czech sculptor David Černý’s dead horse ridden by St. Wenceslas. It is supposed to be an ironic twist on the St. Wenceslas statute in the square outside.

Zhizhkov TV Tower with Crawling Babies

Žižkov television tower is the highest tower in the Czech Republic, it was completed in 1992 and hosts an observation point, a restaurant and a TV transmitter.

Jumping spiders live all around us. In fact, there are more than 4000 different species of jumpers.

The jumping spider can jump 20 to 60 or even 75-80 times the length of their body. If you were just five feet (1.5 m) tall and could jump like that, you could leap over the Buddha statue in Japan which is 328 ft (110 m) tall (one of the world’s tallest statues).

When a jumping spider is moving from place to place, and especially just before it jumps, it tethers a filament of silk to whatever it is standing on. Should it fall for one reason or another, it climbs back up the silk tether.

All  jumpers have eight eyes, and two of the eyes seem enormous for such a little body. Jumpers have a superb vision which is better than any other kind of spider. With his eight eyes a jumper can see in almost every direction at once. When it is darkest, you are looking into its retina and the spider is looking straight at you.

Jumping spiders are also very famous for their curiosity because jumpers in contrast to other  arachnids are seemingly interested in whatever approaches them. If approached by a human hand, instead of running away to safe place as most spiders do, jumpers will usually leap and turn to face the hand. Further approach may result in the spider jumping backwards while still eyeing the hand. The curious little creature will even raise its forelimbs and “hold its ground”.

Their big eyes are so sharp, they can see things clearly from as far away as 20 times the length of the spider’s body. No wonder, scientists who study jumping spiders say they’re some of nature’s best stalkers – as good as lions and tigers. They usually see their prey before their prey sees them!
