Hall of Fame Broadcaster Vin Scully will be featured on the club’s final bobblehead night on Aug. 30 when the Dodgers take on Arizona at 7:10 p.m. Entering an unprecedented 63rd season broadcasting the Dodgers, Scully’s 62 years of consecutive service with the Dodgers is the longest of any sports broadcaster with one team. This marks the Hall of Famer’s first-ever Dodger Stadium bobblehead and it will be given out to fans with the first 50,000 valid tickets.

Fans can purchase tickets to this game through a season ticket plan or the 10-game Flex Plan with tickets starting at $11 by visiting dodgers.com/promotions. Individual tickets will not be made available to the general public.

The Los Angeles Dodgers today placed left-handed pitcher Ted Lilly on the 15-day disabled list (retroactive to May 24) with left shoulder inflammation and recalled left-handed pitcher Michael Antonini from Triple-A Albuquerque. Lilly was 5-1 with a 3.14 ERA and a .203 opponents’ batting average in eight starts this season, last pitching on Wednesday at Arizona. This will be Lilly’s second stint on the disabled list this season after opening the campaign on the DL and missing the club’s first eight games due to neck stiffness.

Antonini, 26, will appear on the Dodger roster for the second time this season and is looking to make Major League debut after he did not make an appearance during his brief two-game stint with the club from April 24-25. The Pennsylvania native last pitched on Tuesday against Fresno (Giants), allowing three runs on three hits in a 5.0-inning start, and has gone 1-2 with a 5.31 ERA in nine games (eight starts) with Triple-A Albuquerque this season. Antonini is in his second season in the Dodger organization and was selected to the Dodgers’ 40-man roster on Nov. 18, 2011 after being acquired on Dec. 27, 2010 from the Mets in exchange for infielder Chin-lung Hu. He was originally selected by New York in the 18th round of the 2007 First-Year Player Draft.

Major League Baseball unveiled the 2012 Stars & Stripes caps, which will be worn by all clubs including the Dodgers on Memorial Day (May 28) and Independence Day weekend (July 4) as part of Major League Baseball’s fifth consecutive year of national fundraising and awareness initiatives for Welcome Back Veterans, a program which addresses the needs of returning American Veterans and their families. With the support of Major League Baseball and its clubs, Welcome Back Veterans since 2008 has awarded more than $11 million in grants to more than 30 non-profit agencies across the country targeting veterans’ greatest needs.

This year, the caps will remain in each team’s official color, but a digital camouflage appliqué will fill the logo on the front of the cap. These MLB Authentic Collection caps, produced by New Era, are available for sale to the public at MLB.com. MLB Properties, Inc. and MLB.com each will donate all of their respective net proceeds received from the sale of the caps to Welcome Back Veterans.

Welcome Back Veterans is an MLB Charities initiative in partnership with the McCormick Foundation and the Entertainment Industry Foundation. The national anthem and “God Bless America” will be performed by United States Air Force Reserve Staff Sergeant DeJon Fruga from March Air Reserve Base. A Joint Services Color Guard will accompany the national anthem performance. United States Marine Corps Sergeant Michael Mejia will throw out the ceremonial first pitch. A United States Marine since 2003, Mejia served two deployments in Iraq and one in Afghanistan. Making a full recovery after stepping on an improvised explosive device (IED) in combat operations, Mejia spent seven months in the hospital in recovery and is now back on full duty as platoon Sergeant.

The Veteran of the Game is United States Army Sergeant Luis Garcia of Orange, CA. Garcia enlisted in 2005, served two tours in Iraq and earned the Army Commendation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Army Service Ribbon and Overseas Service Ribbon, among other accolades.

United States Marine Corps Corporal Ernest Aleman, United States Lance Corporal Nathaniel Boldt and United States Marine Corps Sergeant Christopher Johnson of the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center (MCAGCC) in Twentynine Palms will start Monday’s game with “It’s Time for Dodger baseball!” Aleman, of South Gate, joined the Marine Corps in 2008 and deployed to Afghanistan in 2011 in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. Boldt, of Orchard Park, NY, joined the Marine Corps in 2008 and deployed to Afghanistan in 2011 in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. Johnson of Walnut Ridge, AR, joined the Marine Corps in 2002 and deployed twice to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Four pre-selected youngsters of military families will participate in Kids Take the Field prior to Monday’s game.

The record-setting Dodger infield of Steve Garvey, Davey Lopes, Bill Russell and Ron Cey that played together from 1973-81 is reunited for the third bobblehead in the Dodger Stadium Greats Bobblehead series Tuesday. The group combined for 21 All-Star appearances during their time together, leading the Dodgers to four National League pennants and a World Series championship in 1981. This is the first Dodger Stadium bobblehead for Lopes and Russell and the second for Garvey and Cey. Fans with the first 50,000 valid tickets will receive “The Infield” bobblehead presented by State Farm.

“The Infield” – Garvey, Lopes, Russell and Cey – will throw out the ceremonial first pitch and start Tuesday’s game with “It’s Time for Dodger Baseball.” Lowell Bassett, who has performed the national anthem each season for the past 37 years, will perform the national anthem and “God Bless America.”

The Veteran of the Game is United States Army Staff Sergeant Samantha Sanchez, a 12-year veteran of the US Army Reserve and California Army National Guard, of Benicia, CA, who has served several deployments including to Iraq.

Dodger first baseman James Loney will host a group from the Muscular Dystrophy Association prior to Wednesday’s game as part of Loney’s Lounge. Participants receive a program T-shirt, meal voucher courtesy of Coca-Cola and a meet and greet on the field during batting practice with Loney.

The 2012 MLB Breaking Barriers Dodgers’ contest winner Trinity Harper, a 5th grader from Morgan Kincaid Preparatory School in Victorville, and her teacher, Michelle Diggs, will be recognized on the field as part of pre-game ceremonies Wednesday.

The 2012 MLB Breaking Barriers national and club winners have been selected from nearly 6,000 entries. Breaking Barriers: In Sports, In Life was developed by Major League Baseball, Sharon Robinson and Scholastic, the global children’s publishing, education and media company. The Breaking Barriers essay contest asks students in grades four through nine to submit an essay about barriers or obstacles they have faced or are still facing in their lives, and how they overcame those obstacles using one or more of the values demonstrated by Jackie Robinson: commitment, citizenship, courage, determination, excellence, justice, persistence, teamwork and integrity. Since its inception in 1997, Breaking Barriers: In Sports, In Life has reached more than 22 million children and 2.9 million educators in the continental United States, Canada and Puerto Rico.

World Boxing Hall of Famer Freddie Roach will throw out the ceremonial first pitch. Roach is a boxing trainer and a former professional boxer. One of the most well-known boxing trainers in the world, having been voted Trainer of the Year by the Boxing Writers Association of America in 2003, 2006, 2008, 2009 and 2010, Roach is currently the boxing coach of eight-division world champion Manny Pacquiao, former world champion Amir Khan and current WBC Middleweight Champion Julio César Chávez, Jr., just to name a few.

Following the first pitch, Roach will join the Dodgers Spanish-language broadcast team – Hall of Famer Jaime Jarrín, Pepe Yñiguez and Fernando Valenzuela – as a special guest on the Univision Radio KTNQ 1020 AM radio broadcast during the first inning of Wednesday’s game.

“American Idol” alumnus and current “American Idol” correspondent Didi Benami will sing the national anthem and “God Bless America.”

Thursday, May 31 - 7:10 p.m.

Dodger Jerry Hairston Jr. will launch his community program, Hairston’s Heroes, before Thursday’s game. Throughout the season, Hairston will host youngsters from local Boys and Girls Clubs. The Los Angeles Dodgers today reinstated infielder/outfielder Jerry Hairston from the 15-day disabled list and placed infielder Justin Sellers on the 15-day disabled list (retroactive to May 23) with a bulging disc in his lower back. Sellers batted .250 (6-for-24) with a home run and two RBI in nine games during his most recent stint with the club and overall was hitting .205 in 19 games with Los Angeles.

Hairston has appeared in 19 games with the Dodgers and batted .315 with a home run and four RBI prior to straining his left hamstring while legging out a single on May 6 at Chicago-NL. Hairston, who will celebrate his 36th birthday on Tuesday, has made 15 starts with the Dodgers this season, including eight at third base, five in left field and two at second base. The Illinois native made two rehab appearances with Triple-A Albuquerque on Wednesday and Thursday, starting in left field on Wednesday before playing the infield last night.

Prior to the start of Friday’s game, the Dodgers will treat fans to the legendary band’s most memorable tunes as The Beach Boys’ recorded music will be played in-stadium. At the conclusion of the game, fans are invited to go onto the playing field to watch a Friday Night Fireworks set to The Beach Boys’ music. The Dodgers and The Beach Boys co-branded official MLB merchandise is available now at Dodger Stadium and will be available on the band’s 50th Anniversary reunion tour.

X Games Gold Medalist and Street League professional skateboarder Nyjah Huston will throw out the ceremonial first pitch Friday and Ellie Smith, a 15-year-old Dodger fan who has been performing at Dodger Stadium since age 9, will sing the national anthem.

The Dodgers honor a Veteran of the Game at every home game by treating them to Field Level tickets, a batting practice experience and recognizing them on the field during pregame ceremonies. Friday’s Veteran of the Game is United States Army Specialist Gus Rodriguez of Hollywood. Rodriguez recently returned home from serving one year in Afghanistan with United States Army 1st Battalion, 24th Infantry Regiment Bravo Company and the Stryker Brigade Combat Team 25th Infantry Division.

The 3rd annual Natural Balance Pet Foods Bark in the Park at Dodger Stadium is Saturday starting at 5:30 p.m. Once a year Angelinos are invited to watch a baseball game with their dogs.

Tillman the Skateboarding Bulldog will make a special appearance and lead all dogs with their owners and celebrity guests in a Pup Rally in center field for a pre-game Pup Parade. The event is sold out and a portion of ticket sales proceeds support the Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA). It is Viva Los Dodgers Day, presented by State Farm, Chevrolet and Time Warner Cable. The season-long initiative is in its third year and celebrates Latino culture in Los Angeles at a family-friendly pregame festival held in lot 6 two hours prior to each Sunday's game.

Sunday, starting at 11:10 a.m., indie music star Ceci Bastida and Latin Grammy-nominated Latin pop fusion band La Santa Cecilia will provide entertainment.

Former WBC Welterweight Champion “Vicious” Victor Ortiz will sign autographs for fans at Viva Los Dodgers from 11:30 a.m. to noon Sunday in promotion of his upcoming fight at Staples Center against Joselito Lopez Saturday, June 23 in a 12-round championship elimination match. Dodger Alumnus Al “The Bull” Ferrara will also sign autographs for fans. For more information, visit www.dodgers.com/viva.

Dodger pitcher Aaron Harang will host a group of 30 military families as part of Aaron’s Aces which occurs every Sunday home game. Harang’s guests receive game tickets, complimentary parking and meal vouchers courtesy of Coca-Cola. The group also gets a meet and greet on the field with Harang during batting practice along with an autographed Aaron’s Aces t-shirt.

The Veteran of the Game is United States Army Lieutenant Colonel Tom De La Garza of Inglewood. De La Garza is currently at the John F. The La Cañada High School Choir will sing the national anthem.

Dodgers centerfielder Matt Kemp is one of the best baseball players in the game, but the fact that he is still learning the game is a scary thought for opposing teams. As a teenager growing up just outside of Oklahoma City, Kemp loved basketball and played on his AAU team all summer. Baseball was strictly secondary. By his junior year in high school though, Kemp realized that his build would limit his basketball potential, and he began to focus on baseball (page 46).

In many ways, Kemp is still new to the game. What the Dodgers see now is a player whose mental skills are catching up to his physical skills. Manager Don Mattingly said, “This game is not so much physical. It’s when the mental side and physical side connect, that’s the most important part. Everyone’s road takes them on a different path. And with Matt, we’re beginning to see everything connect, and it’s a beautiful thing.”

Dodgers Announce Latin American Signings

Dodgers making big moves in Latin America. The Dodgers are in the verge of signing more than 20 players from Latin America. Names should be released by next month.

The Los Angeles Dodgers today announced the signing of several players from Latin America, including both the Dominican Republic and Venezuela. Dodger General Manager Ned Colletti made the announcement.

The Dodgers have signed or are in the process of signing more than 20 players from Latin America, including at least 10 position players and 10 pitchers.

"Besides the recent signings, with the support from ownership, we are fully prepared to be strong participants in the upcoming signing period in Latin America,” said Colletti. “With our renewed resources in that area and the upcoming First-Year Player Draft next month, we look forward to adding many talented young players to the Dodger family. Our Assistant General Manager, Scouting, Logan White and his staff have begun a strong and vital effort in a very important process to the future of the player development portion of the Dodgers' organization.”

The Dodgers have a longstanding tradition of signing future big league players out of the Dominican Republic and Venezuela. The team opened the doors on the first-ever baseball academy in the Dominican on March 27, 1987, naming it Campo Las Palmas. Current Dodger players and alumni that have been signed out of Latin America include Rubby De La Rosa, Elian Herrera, Kenley Jansen, Raul Mondesi, Pedro and Ramon Martinez, Adrian Beltre, Pedro Astacio, Omar Daal and Roger Cedeno.

The first round of the 2012 First-Year Player Draft begins on June 4. The Dodgers hold picks No. 18 and 51 (supplemental first round choice). Last year’s first-round draft pick was Stanford left-hander Chris Reed, who is currently pitching for Single-A Rancho Cucamonga.

We are excited to announce that on Thursday, June 14th 2012, Ali & Joe Torre will be hosting Inside the Game, an event benefiting the Joe Torre Safe At Home Foundation at the Hotel Bel-Air, Los Angeles, California.

This once-in-a-lifetime event will feature some of Baseball’s Greatest Managers: Joe Torre, Tony LaRussa, Tommy Lasorda, Mike Scioscia and Don Mattingly. We hope you will join us for an evening of memories, reflection, wisdom and inspiration with five of baseball’s most legendary managers, hosted by Hall-of-Fame broadcaster Vin Scully. The evening will include a cocktail reception and dinner, along with an auction.

All proceeds will benefit the Joe Torre Safe At Home Foundation and its goal of expanding its comprehensive, in-school program, Margaret’s Place, in Los Angeles and educating youth to end the cycle of domestic violence.
