When to replace 12v car battery

Here are some tips on knowing when to exchange an old car battery with a new one:

1. Battery Lifespan - Car battery in Malaysia usually last for 2-3years, although some can last for up to 4-5years... So better to change the battery every 2 years to prevent any failure on startup your car during your journey...

2. Cold Weather - Weak battery normally cannot start smoothly, usually need to start a fews times..

3. Voltage less than 12v - Test your car battery with a multimeter(voltmeter)....

Here are the normal voltage for a working condition car 12 battery :

Idle : 12.6V-12.8v

After startup : 14v -15v

Check your battery by using a multimeter(will normally cost you RM20-25 for the multimeter) :

State of charging:

12.6-12.8v - 100% charged

12.5v - 75%

12.2v - 50%

12.05v - 25%

less than 12v - 0%

Why you need to check with multimeter??

Sometimes is not the battery that need to be replace, sometimes is the alternator that fail to charge the battery when your car is running...

4. Clicking sound & Cranking sound when startup - Indicate that your car battery almost reach it lifetime usage..

5. Battery casing damage - Due to leaking acid...

6. Ignition startup delay - Turn your key then suddenly feel like need 2 seconds to start... May be is the battery, if not will be the starter... (This works for me)

There are also at least 2 type of car battery - lead acid type & another is maintenance free type..

If you are a person who less caring of your car battery, better go for maintenance free type... But if you prefer cheaper one, then lead acid type would be your choice...

Finally, i think almost all car driver need to spare themselves with a set of jumper cable in case emergency...

Captain Francis Light (1740 – 25 October 1794)

Was the founder of the British colony of Penang (in modern-day Malaysia) and its capital George Town in 1786.

He was baptised in Dallinghoo, Suffolk, England on 15 December 1740. His mother was given as Mary Light, though his father preferred to remain anonymous. He was taken in by a relative, the nobleman William Negus, and educated in elementary school with the Negus children: but was apprenticed early to a Naval Surgeon. It was initially thought that Light was illegitimate son of William Negus, but according to Noël Francis Light Purdon, the 6-times great-grandson of Francis Light, Negus was paid to look after him and be his guardian throughout his schooling. He served as a Royal Navy midshipman from 1759 to 1763, but went out to seek his fortune in the colonies. From 1765, he worked as a private country trader. For about ten years he had his headquarters in Salang, Thailand, near Phuket, reviving a failed French trading post. While living there he learned to speak and write several languages, including Malay and Siamese. In 1785, he warned the Thais on Phuket Island of an imminent Burmese attack. Light's warning enabled the islanders to prepare for Phuket's defence and subsequently repel the Burmese invasion. For the British East India Company, he leased the island of Penang from the Sultan of Kedah, where many others had failed, and was supposedly given the Princess of Kedah as a reward (other sources state that the Princess was sent to covet Light's aid on behalf of the Sultan). The multicultural colony of Penang became extraordinarily successful from its inception and Light served as the Superintendent of the colony until his death.

Light died from malaria on 21 October 1794 and was buried at the Protestant Cemetery on Northam Road (now Jalan Sultan Ahmad Shah) in George Town. A statue which bears his name but has the facial features of his son William stands at Fort Cornwallis in George Town.

Light had four daughters and two sons with Martina Rozells, who was said to be of Portuguese and Siamese lineage. Martina is occasionally referred to in the literature as the Princess of Kedah, as above. If they were legally married, he did not declare it. However, it was against East India Company rules to marry a Catholic and, as Martina was Catholic, Light may have tried to avoid dismissal by never declaring his marriage. He did leave her his considerable property. Their son, Colonel William Light, was the founder of Adelaide in Australia.

Serdang Fried Porridge (炒粥）

Hi, yesterday 15/08/2010, just went to Serdang, Perak, Malaysia by car to taste the famous Xin Aik Kee Serdang Fried Porridge... The drive are quite long, took me around 45minutes to arrive from Jawi town with the average 60-70km/h of driving speed.. Reach there safely, and started to order.. Since this is the 1st time, so I didn't specifically order to much... I just simply order a big bowl of porridge and a bowl of taufu to try..
One word - tasty...

Should try.. Good! Recommended for those who like good food...

Netgear WG311 PCI Card

When running on Win XP, we just install the driver with the installation CD that came along when we purchase... So there should be no problem on driver installation...

But when we came along Win Vista & Win 7..

There're different cases, on the Netgear website itself, they didn't provide us with the Win Vista/7 update driver files...

So if we wanna use this card with Win Vista/7, it sure is a MEGA problem for us...

No worry, just use back the driver CD that provided when we purchase the card.. Same on Win Vista/7, right click the installation icon, select run as administrator, then go to the compatibility section there, select Win XP, finally click on Apply..

Now, run the installation files by just double click it, a msg will appear, select yes.. Then install like others problem installation..

Then your should be able to run on Win Vista/7.. Same thing happen to me...

Here are answers to some common questions about upgrading to Windows 7.
Differences between the upgrade and full versions of Windows 7

- Upgrade Version & Full Version shared the same features..

- Upgrade Version required previous OS such as Win XP or Win Vista installed first before you can install the Win 7..

- Full Version can just install on a new hard disk with no OS on it..

Remarks :

Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows Me, & Windows 2000 cannot be upgrade to Win 7 by using the Upgrade Version.. Only by using Full Version with clean install do the tricks...

Differences between upgrade installation & (custom) clean installation
- Upgrade Installation will just replaces your current windows to Win 7, all your settings, files & programs from your previous windows will still available in Win 7.. So no more software reinstall is needed..
- Custom Installation ( Clean Installation) will replaces your current windows to Win 7, all your settings, files & programs from your previous windows will be left behind.. That's why they called it as clean install - start from nothing...

Upgrade from Windows XP
- Backup is needed because only clean installation is available.. Everything will be wiped out, then here's the Win 7...
- Only full version of Win 7 is suitable for you..

Upgrade from Windows Vista

- No backup is needed.. Can just simply choose upgrade installation to convert your Windows Vista to Windows 7 with all your settings, files & programs safely transfer into it..

Loratadine is an antihistamine drug used to treat allergies, and marketed for its non-sedating properties. It is marketed by Schering-Plough and Shionogi in Japan under several trade names such as Claritin, Claritin-D, Claritine, Clarityn, Clarityne or Fristamin depending on the market; by Cadila as Lorfast; by Lek as Lomilan or Flonidan; by Sandoz as Symphoral; by Ranbaxy as Roletra; by Pliva as Rinolan; by Teva as AllergyX; by Wyeth as Alavert; and by Pharma International as Tidilor. It is also available as a generic. In a version marketed as Claritin-D or Clarinase, loratadine is combined with pseudoephedrine, a decongestant; this makes it somewhat useful for colds as well as allergies, but adds potential side-effects of insomnia, nervousness, and anxiety.

Side-effects

Non-sedating antihistamine
As a non-sedating antihistamine, loratadine causes less sedation and psychomotor impairment than the older antihistamines because it penetrates the blood brain barrier only to a slight extent.

Although drowsiness is rare at the common 10 mg dose, patients should nevertheless be advised that it can occur and may affect performance of skilled tasks (e.g. driving); excess alcohol should be avoided.

Other rarer side-effects
Hypotension, extrapyramidal effects, dizziness, confusion, depression, sleep disturbances, lower back pain, tremor, convulsions, palpitation, arrhythmias, hypersensitivity reactions (including bronchospasm, angioedema, and anaphylaxis, rashes, and photosensitivity reactions), blood disorders, liver dysfunction, erectile dysfunction, and angle-closure glaucoma are less common side effects.

Cautions and contraindications
Loratadine should be used with caution in hepatic disease and dose reduction may be necessary in renal impairment. Caution may be required in epilepsy. Children and the elderly are more susceptible to side-effects (see Side-effects section above). Loratadine is a category L-2 (classified by the American Academy of Pediatrics as a drug "Usually Compatible With Breast-feeding") and category B in pregnancy.

Most common side-effects
Drowsiness, headache, psychomotor impairment, and antimuscarinic effects such as urinary retention, dry mouth, blurred vision, and gastrointestinal disturbances are the most common side effects.

A dangerous virus that will keep spreading on *.exe files that size over 200kb..

The virus is a file infector that is composed of two parts: a small stub written in Assembler, appended to the files infected that decrypts the main virus body, also appended to the infected file. The main virus body is a PE file written in Borland C++ that it’s dropped in the Windows\TEMP directory (or whatever location temporary files have on your system).

The virus infects PE files, and searches for files with *.exe and *.scrextensions, on local drives, network drives and network shares on local network. Because the virus appends to every infected file the main body, which is ~180K in size, there should be a visible decrease in free space on your volumes. The virus doesn’t show it’s presence in any way, and does not use email for spreading.

Versions A and B are mostly the same, while version C uses a somewhat tricky method of encrypting the original PE file’s entry point. Infected files have the last section’s name consisting of 3 randomly chosed letters followed by a non-printable character.

If in your exe files the last section name is .jbd or .xgt or something like that, then it’s probably a file infected with Parite.

Xpax is Celcom's brand of prepaid mobile phone services currently operating on both 2G and 3G network (for both 019/013 prefixes). Xpax subscribers are allowed to be in either one of two package; Mid or Lite Plan, where the rates for voice/video calls and text messaging differs. DiGi Telecommunications (）is a mobile service provider in Malaysia. It is owned in majority by Telenor ASA of Norwaywith 49%. On 24 May 1995 DiGi became the first telco in Malaysia to launch and operate a fully digital cellular network.

In Facebook adding application after application is very easy. Figuring out how to remove an Facebook application, however, can be difficult. These step-by-step directions show how to delete an application from your profile in the new version of Facebook. Screencast of this process is included as well.

I like the “new” Facebook design, but a lot of users are having difficulty figuring how how to remove an application once it is installed in the profile.

1. Log into your Facebook account
2. Click the Facebook Menu button at the bottom left hand corner of the screen. The menu will appear. Click the edit link..

3. A listing of applications will appear. Select the group of applications from which you would like to view. Selecting the Authorized link should display all your applications.
4. Click the Remove link for the application you wish to delete.

5. Confirm by pressing the remove link in the dialog box that appears.
