In the most practical sense, how do we behave when a brother or sister falls away? Do we see ourselves as superior to him or are we grieved at his condition? Do we run away from him or toward him? And what are we required to do to restore them to God?

Jesus seemed to be motivated by a deep sense of compassion for the marginalized and outcast. Maybe a closer investigation of what com-passion really means may allow it to become the motivating influence of your life as it was in Christ's.
