The vintage film camera is in good order, lens is clean and the slr camera comes with original case. There are some minor sign of use and age but nothing serious and the bag has previous owners name written on the inside in marker pen.

The Minolta 110 zoom slr zoom camera had a built-in Rokkor Macro 1:4.5 f=25-50mm zoom lens. The aperture selector was not part of the lens. It was placed around the exposure-meter-eye instead. The meter controlled just the shutter speed. A hot shoe for a flash was an top of the camera

The other day I came across a vintage camera that I had not seen before, a Minolta110 Zoom.

The Minolta 110 zoom was made by the Minolta company of Japan between 1976 and 1979, it was the first SLR camera in 110 format.

It has a fixed 25-50 mm zoom lens which appears to be in good condition and was manually focused.

I like this vintage camera from the 70's, it would be interesting to see how good a phototgraph it can take!

A collection of vintage used camera film camera film consisting of:

Boxed vintage Kodak Panatomic Film dated March 1940 - Film inside but its been used.
Kodak Brownie Film Spool with camera film - Metal spool is fine but film will be useless.
Kodak 35mm film - probably used as it came out of old camera.
Cine film of reel - not sure what cine camera and reel has H-140 engraved on side plus its painted.

Old Pocket Cameras and 110 Film

At the beginning of the Great War there was a boom in the sales of camera's especially the Kodak folding camera or VPK (vest pocket Kodak camera). In 1914 around 6,000 of these “pocket Kodak” camera's were sold in Britain, the following year over 28,000. The reason being why so many pocket Kodak cameras sold was many soldiers carried VPK's to record their experiences.

Kodak's strategy was to supply an affordable camera to the 'masses' and these old cameras were “mass” produced. The majority of them are still easy to find and the great thing about them, apart from they usually still work, is that they can be purchased cheaply.

There are lots of vintage cameras worth looking out for and its not only the 'rare' models that can be worth a lot of money. If the camera was owned by someone famous then this can increase the value especially if there is a good “provenance”.

I have bought many “old film cameras” in the past and they still have the old film inside and you never know what you may find. Usually, its family pics but even these old vintage photographs can be of interest especially the early photo's.

Its always worth considering the following:

A Kodak Autographic pocket camera, the one Andrew Irvine took with him on the Mount Everest Expedition 1924 is one of the most sought after camera in the world. He set off for the summit of Mount Everest with George Mallory in 1924 but never returned.

Sadly, they both perished whilst climbing Mt Everest and many believe that they had reached the summit and were returning when tragedy struck. There bodies were never found at the time but in 1999 Malory's body was discovered near the summit of Mount Everest, Irvines as yet to be found.

Andrew Irvine had with him a VPK, a Kodak Autographic and if found the camera may reveal whether they reached the top of Everest, nearly 30 years before Hillary and Tensing.

It would be great to find this camera and Kodak state that it could still be possible to develop the 110 film even after all these years.

The other week I bought a load of Outdoor Photography Magazines and Black & White Photography Magazines mags. They are packed full of photography tips and ideal for anyone with an interest in learning how to use a film camera or even a modern digital camera.

The Outdoor Photography Magazines date back to 2002, they have lots of useful tips and tutorials about landscape and nature photography. Each month featured a lesson about how to take the perfect photo and these are great if you are currently learning photography. The magazine is still going strong and new issues can be purchased here, Outdoor Photography Subscription

The Black & White Photography Magazines are a great source of information about photography and how to set up a darkroom or studio. The early issues feature an article about the history of the camera and how they developed over the years, very interesting for vintage camera collectors. Again, these Black and White Photography magazines are still being published and many other's Photography Magazines Subscriptions

As an amateur photographer I found the information very informative and ideal for learning photography, hopefully my photo's will improve on my photography blog:-)
