Warpaint make beautiful music. I went to their website for the latest info on them. The following is taken directly from their site.

Warpaint weave intricate guitar lines, hypnotic vocals and driving post punk rhythms into gorgeous, sprawling songs that skirt the line between psychedelia and intimacy. Both live and on record, Warpaint sound like they’re channeling something truly otherworldly, and mystical. Rough Trade released their long-awaited debut full-length album The Fool in October 2010.

Recorded in LA, The Fool was produced by Tom Biller (Beck, Karen O, Liars), with further mixes from Andrew Weatherall (New Order, Primal Scream, Bjork) and Adam Samuels (John Frusciante, Daniel Lanois). The Fool follows their Exquisite Corpse EP, released in 2009.

Following its release in October, Spin magazine gave The Fool an 8 out of 10 rating, while Pitchfork called it “a nine-song seance of an album that’s as subtle as it is disquieting.” Within the past year, Warpaint has been featured on the cover of NME magazine and was named one of BBC’s “15 Most Promising Artists of 2011”.

There is an incomparable chemistry between the three longtime friends (vocalists/guitarists Emily Kokal and Theresa Wayman, bassist/vocalist Jenny Lee Lindberg) and the piston-like drummer (Stella Mozgawa) that got the group to proclaim “where’ve you been all our lives?” after a rehearsal or two. Stella did not become Warpaint’s steady drummer until The Fool’s final demo stages.

While they’ve gone through several drummers and countless sonic shifts since their West Coast start six years ago, one thing has remained certain about the all girl-quartet from Los Angeles: the goose bump-producing power of their live show, which has reduced many rooms to rubble in recent years. Warpaint has toured incessantly over the last couple of years with standout performances at CMJ, SXSW, Lollapalooza, Bonnaroo, as well as the Leeds, Reading and Laneway festivals. They have also shared the stage with The xx, Band of Horses, Yeasayer, Akron/Family, Javelin, and The Walkmen.

Warpaint is Emily Kokal (vocals/guitar), Theresa Wayman (vocals/guitar), Jenny Lee Lindberg (bass/vocals), and Stella Mozgawa (drums).
I checked out her site and thought you would love to know more about Jaclyn and her music.
I found this info on her bio page,
"Vancouver based, B.C. born and raised Jaclyn Guillou (pronounced Ghee-you), is an award winning jazz vocalist who performs original music and jazz standards. Her soon to be released album, To The City, has a sound that is most comparable with crossover artists and female jazz singer-songwriters such as Melody Gardot and Madeleine Peyroux.
Her compositional skills include interesting and unusual arrangements of standards that are reminiscent of Peggy Lee, Sarah Vaughan and Nancy King. Her influences range from the queen of the blues Dinah Washington, passionate Diane Reeves, folk singer-songwriter Martin Sexton and Brazilian legend Elis Regina. This young twenty-something artist strives to merge the sound of deep jazz roots and hip modern sounds to appeal to music lovers of all sorts."

Jaclyn is taking to the road to promote her new CD, To The City and she has been sponsored with 2 beautiful dresses to wear on tour by Vancouver fashion designer, Mara Gottler!

Wednesday April 6th sees her at the Cultch in Vancouver. Their site has this to say:
" This concert marks the start of her Western Canada tour and celebrates the release of her debut studio album To The City.... With her international band: New York vibraphonist Tom Beckham, Belgian pianist Bram Weijters, Vancouver bassist Michael Rush and Toronto/Vancouver drummer Joe Poole she has delighted audiences everywhere.
A recipient of the 2009 CBC Galaxie Rising Star Award, Jaclyn has attracted the attention of all sorts of music lovers with her diverse and eclectic style."
Madison Violet will be at Pacific Contact on April 1, 2011. Then they continue touring.
Both hailing from Scottish small towns in Canada, Brenley MacEachern and Lisa MacIsaac have chosen another musical path; one that channels their parent’s vintage record collection that comprised of the likes of Neil Young and Dolly Parton. Madison Violet came to be nearly 10 years ago after a chance meeting at restaurant in Toronto. Since that fateful meeting, the pair have come into a sound of their own, which has been described as both city-folk and Americana.

The NO ORDINARY HIGHWAY SPRING TOUR features the Canadian female duo Madison Violet and The John Henrys. "Epic, Van Etten’s second album, lays a romantic melancholy lining over the gravel and dirt of heartbreak, without one honest thought or feeling spared. She sings of betrayal, obsession, egotism and all the other emotions we hate in others and recognize in ourselves. Yet, Van Etten’s grounded and clenched vocals convey the sense of hope – the notion that beauty can come out of the worst of circumstances. Epic is indeed that beauty.
The album was recorded at Miner Street Studios in Philadelphia with Brian McTear. Where Van Etten’s first record, Because I Was In Love, explored her thoughts on love through minimalism and sparseness, Epic embellishes her music to grandiose luminosity. Guitar and singing are joined by drums, piano, lap steel, and a trio of backing vocalists: Meg Baird (Espers), Cat Martino and Jessica Larrabee (She Keeps Bees). The result is a fully realized album that astounds as it elucidates, disturbs as it soothes. The final track, “Love More,” has already been covered live in a collaborative effort between Sharon fans Bon Iver and The National.
A few things need to be made clear about SVE’s music. She’s not the type of “female singer/songwriter” who champions women-centric perspectives and denies personal accountability. Nor is she a strident provocateur. Rather, Van Etten is a performer who fully embraces her femininity while confidently expressing it through intelligent and mature perspectives on relationships. Those turned off by the provincialism of other performers will be pleased that you can identify with Van Etten’s incisive and universal observations about love and loss.

Here is the info on her taken from her facebook page.
Born and raised in Russia, Lydia originally made her stand in the U.S. music scene as a lead vocalist and keyboard player for the Grammy-nominated band Bering Strait, which released 2 albums on Universal South Records and was featured in a "60 Minutes" episode, as well as a full-length documentary, "The Ballad Of Bering Strait". The band toured throughout the U.S., sharing the stage with such artists as Trisha Yearwood, Diamond Rio, Steve Azar, Carolyn Dawn Johnson, Collin Raye, Wynonna, Phil Vassar, B-52s, Ricky Skaggs, Kenny Rogers, Kathy Mattea and Bela Fleck.

Being both a skilled singer and a classically trained pianist, Lydia also generously lent her musical talents to other acts, in the studio and on the road; the most notable contributions were her appearances on “We Are The Same” by Kenny Rogers and on "Charlemagne: By the Sword and the Cross" by Christopher Lee.

While having developed an appreciation and love for both classical and country music, Lydia eventually found that when it came down to just her and her piano and her writing, she was tapping into quite a different musical place, its flavor being soulful, emotional and highly introspective. She was compelled to leave Bering Strait in 2006 to start searching for her own voice, not that of a singer or a player in a band but that of a solo artist. Between experimenting in the studio and playing live in a trio setting, she began finding it.

Lydia has recently teamed up with Paula Kay at Paula Kay Artist Management, and together they approached Alain Mallet (most known for his production work on Jonatha Brooke’s “Plumb” and “10 Cent Wings”), to produce a project on Lydia. While the details of that collaboration are still being worked out, Lydia has released a self-produced album titled “Hallway”, which she recorded in her home studio.

The Signal, hosted by Laurie Brown, is heard Mon-Sat from 10:00 pm to midnight on CBC Radio 2.
I found this information on todays shows at the Capilano University Performing Arts Theatre Site, one of the sponsors of the event.

DarkBlueWorld are set to perform March 5 at CBC STUDIO 40, 9:45 pm. The CBC Vancouver Broadcast Centre is at 700 Hamilton Street, Vancouver

Dark Blue World is fronted by singer/poet Elizabeth Fischer featuring collaborations with noted Canadian musicians. Drawing on Fischer's texts, expressive vocal style and the wide ranging musical influences the members bring to the group, DarkBlueWorld creates and perform material that is emotionally layered, often acerbic or darkly satirical, with subtly complex harmonic and rhythmic structures - individualized, intelligent expressions intended to communicate the complexities of human experience in sophisticated yet accessible song formats.
