6 months ago.....
I was at my wits end and I thought to myself could life be so unfair... I was so miserable.
And here I am later with such a better outlook on life.
Life couldn't be any normal...
Normal is great!
I have to pinch myself to see if this is all real?
or if I'm dreaming.
And if this is a dream, please may I never wake.
I know for one thing I will never take life for granted any more.
I will pray more and just thank god that this life will last and to thank him for that terrible journey is finally over and no matter what I went through,
it has made me more stronger than ever
and to not take for granted the things that really matter
like having a roof over my head.

Adversity and trials are par for the course. Each of us will encounter those places in the journey when it becomes extremely tough. We will be tempted to quit, to give in to the despair and give up. Yes, life is hard… But God is good! All the time. Hold fast to your faith. More importantly, hold fast to Him. The clouds may have grown dark in your life. The wind may be blowing and the rain is pouring down. But I promise you that He will not fail you. More importantly, He promises you that He will not fail you. He is a very present help in your time of trouble. that's how I got through it all...

If you have walked the road of life for any length of time, you have encountered your share of bad news, dark days, and tough places in the road. All of us have had to deal with pain at some point (some more than others). The sun doesn’t always shine. The flowers don’t always bloom.

Yes that word

And in my insides

I feel like

I hate this illness

The illness

I guess that's what they say I have

But it seems to be incurable

In my case

Cry

A friend confessed to me the other night that he felt like cutting off his legs...

I thought what must it feel like to be in that much pain? I mean this person has been going through so much pain ever since he was 27 years old and he's now at the age of 45 that's 17 years of agony! hes been fighting with the state for the last five years for disability to which they keep denying him. I mean really what does it take? does he really have to cut both his legs off?

he keeps popping those vicodins, next thing you know it will be his liver... but you know those doctors their good in giving em plenty of them pain killers... being doped up all day like a zombie. Now he's regularly visiting a psychiatrist who has diagnosed him with manic depressant and P.T.S.D.

So whats your thoughts on the governments ideas on whats really there ideas of a real disability? because honestly I see some pretty healthy people who are claiming there disabled and really there just scamming the system. When we have some real true people like my friend that really need the help. I hope he gets it before he goes to the extreme of cutting his legs off...
Please share your thoughts if you would...

I finally had a chance to watch Vanity Fair last night, Since we decided to get netflix I have had the oppertunity to enjoy so many great movies that before I never before had the pleasure of viewing. So of course I have to pick my period drama movies first.
I so enjoyed this movie due to Reese Witherspoon playing in it I don't think she even plays in a movie that I don't like.
The story line was very interesting though...
Growing up poor in London, Becky Sharp (Witherspoon) defies her poverty-stricken background and ascends the social ladder alongside her best friend, Amelia.

Storyline

William Makepeace Thackeray's witty assessment of the British class system, as seen through the experiences of one young woman, is brought to the screen with some serious star power in this period comedy drama. Becky Sharp (Reese Witherspoon) is a bright and ambitious girl born to a poor British family. Becky is determined to make something of herself however she can, and after accepting a job as a nanny for the children of the powerful and aristocratic Sir Pitt Crawley (Bob Hoskins), she wastes no time ingratiating herself with the family. Pretty Becky catches the eye of Crawley's handsome and eligible son Rawdon (James Purefoy), and becomes chummy with sharp-tongued Aunt Matilda (Eileen Atkins). Between the two of them, Becky is introduced to London's most exclusive social circle, where she becomes re-acquainted with Amelia Sedley (Romola Garai), a former school chum who is amused by Becky's efforts to scale the ladder of social influence. Becky weds Rawdon, but following initial happiness, the social and economic stability she dreamed of begins to collapse when he begins drowning his troubles in gambling and drink, and soon she turns to the powerful Marquess of Steyne (Gabriel Byrne) for support. Meanwhile, Amelia's fortunes fall even harder following the death of her husband. Vanity Fair was directed by Mira Nair, who enjoyed a surprise international success with 2002's Monsoon Wedding. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi

Its like I really wanted to see Reese Witherspoon's role move up the social ladder but the way she went about it was not the best way, it was her downfall especcially when she sent her son away I totally lost all respect for her.

And then her friend Amelia what a pathetic sight I must admit. In the begining her love for that idiot Captain George Henry Osborne. I mean he was a jerk in the beginning to the end. I mean to fall for your best friends friend that kind of tells you what kind of scum ball he is. Of course Amelia finally finds out in the end.

For the past couple of nights I've been entertaining myself with watching Jane Austen's Mansfield Park.

I must admit it was quite good and made me want to be like Fannie Price even though in this time in age who could? unless your of an angelic creature. And to think of one so good hearted and enduring. I definatelly had to look up this certain word I always question myself from time to time when I do not use a certain word often. And I found this :en·dur·ing

adj.

1. Lasting; continuing; durable: a novel of enduring interest.

2. Long-suffering; patient.

I found this definition of Fanny to be her.
Poor dear sweet Fannie she really did endure...
And like they say good things happen to those who wait.
I am so happy she did not fall for the fake play that Henry Crawford tried.
And I just love that about Fanny that she may come off passive and you would think gullible but she stood by her instincts and heart and the outcome was what prevailed. And lets not forget Henry, he gave in to his lust and went off with Maria.
So lets see...
you then have Maria, the daughter of Sir Thomas Bertram.
What a piece of work right? She has a perfectly great husband yes I know he's not the handsomest but by god you know he's trust worthy and loves her. Which makes makes him beautiful.
So typical of Maria to run off with Mr.Crawford, you ask me they deserve each other.
So they're both ruined at the end for their selfishness and lust to which we all know doesn't last.
Then you have...
Edmund Bertram. The Bertrams' younger son. He will become a clergyman. The only one of the Bertrams' children with a good head and a good heart, Edmund is Fanny's closest companion.
Then Edmund blindly falls in love with shallow Mary which almost becomes the fall of him.

Then of course there is Mary Crawford...
She is beautiful and charming, but also shallow and evil. She becomes friends with a reluctant Fanny, while Edmund falls in love with and nearly proposes to her.
Then of course there's
Henry Craford...
  - Mary's brother. He is equally charming and possibly even more amoral, and he possesses a sizeable estate. First Maria and Julia fall in love with him, and he takes to Maria, despite her engagement. When Maria marries and the sisters leave Mansfield, he falls for Fanny and proposes to her. Everyone is convinced he is a changed man.
To we know the answer to that one...

I really found this Movie to be very well made and I thank my dear Jane Austen for another huge sucess. I almost to want to compare this to A Jane eyre but I cannot quite do this you see only in the same as maybe the role of Jane eyre to Fanny they both attain the some what same characteristics.
This one film was filmed in 1983
And I've noticed that it had been remade several times. I really do look forward to seing the more modern versions, anything Jane Austen really I just adore and will definatelly occupy my time viewing and will be content.
There is a Jane Austen movie called Miss Austen regrets and it was just amazing! Even if you are not a Jane Austen fan I think this movie is for anyone.
It makes you feel like you need to appreciate youth while you have it. And also that you really don't have to be married to be happy. Especially when back in the 1800's it was destiny that every girl would look forward to meet a boy then marry and have children. But not for Jane Austen her destiny was to be the best Author and become rich for it. There was no way she was going to let a man dictate her future.

The ending of this movie was so sad but well written.
“Single women have a dreadful propensity for being poor...which is one very strong argument in favour of matrimony...
Quote from a Jane Austen Letter 13 March, 1817”

I must speak to you by such means as are within my reach. You pierce my soul. I am half agony, half hope. Tell me not that I am too late, that such precious feelings are gone for ever. I offer myself to you again with a heart even more your own than when you almost broke it, eight years and a half ago. Dare not say that man forgets sooner than woman, that his love has an earlier death. I have loved none but you. Unjust I may have been, weak and resentful I have been, but never inconstant. You alone have brought me to Bath. For you alone, I think and plan. Have you not seen this? Can you fail to have understood my wishes? I had not waited even these ten days, could I have read your feelings, as I think you must have penetrated mine. I can hardly write. I am every instant hearing something which overpowers me. You sink your voice, but I can distinguish the tones of that voice when they would be lost on others. Too good, too excellent creature! You do us justice, indeed. You do believe that there is true attachment and constancy among men. Believe it to be most fervent, most undeviating, in F. W.

I must go, uncertain of my fate; but I shall return hither, or follow your party, as soon as possible. A word, a look, will be enough to decide whether I enter your father's house this evening or never.”
― Jane Austen, Persuasion

Why cannot love exists

Only truly in Jane Austin's world

To know

To feel

Love like Persuasion

This movie moved me so to want and desire to be transported back in time when pure love actually existed and lasted for eternity....

Oh the persuasion of it all....

- Posted using BlogPress from my iPad
Black Friday nightmare at the Vintage faire mall in Modesto Ca.
Black Friday nightmare!

Well first of all I really had no intention of going out to this years Black Friday.

My sister came buy with my niece and invited us to go out and accompany them to the local mall.
And since being full from eating dinner that night I thought it being a good idea to walk it off a bit.

So My daughter and I thought a good idea to go and check out the apple store to see what deals they were going to be having.

We showed up around 9 pm and to find no one hanging around, so we decided this was perfect,
first in line great!
Just outside the store was an outside area with tables and chairs with free wifi what else could we want to pass the time it was quite chilly that night so I encouraged my 9 year old daughter to walk around a bit to warm up.
Well we weren't there but maybe 15 minutes when I heard a terrible blood curdling scream from my daughter coming from a few feet from me.
I rushed to see my daughter underneath hundreds of pounds of cement from an outdoor fountain that fell over on top of her.
I quickly fell to my knees and tried lifting this from her two feet which were pinned underneath.
She was screaming and I also was screaming for her to pull her feet out.
As much as I tried, I could not budge that heavy cement off her feet, it was so heavy!
All I could think was that her poor feet were broken from the weight. By some miracle she pulled her feet out.
Still screaming and crying and wet from the water from this gigantic contraption.
I dragged her to a bench nearby.
By then there were three girls there. I guess they were waiting down the way by one of the nearby stores.
One girl offered to call 911 and another offering my daughter a blanket.
Within minutes it seemed the paramedics were there assisting my daughter.
At the time when my daughter had all that heavy cement on top her I felt so helpless and desperate that I couldn't lift it off her.
I thought her feet were broken.
I couldn't understand how an innocent night could turn into a nightmare from hell!
I had never felt so scared and worried as a mother in my whole life! I felt like a complete failure as a nurturing mother to let something like this happen.
Come to find out what really happened was that my daughter was reaching up with her feet to see if she could get a better look into the fountain to see the coins from atop the upper level of the fountain and the lower base gave way.
This certain water fountain was quite not affixed to the other half which made the whole structure give way.
As unlucky as this night was , the paramedics did mention that she was lucky that she was not right in front of the fountain but she was standing on the side of the fountain.
So if she was in front of it, it would of fell on top her head which would of led to worse injuries maybe even death!
Today is Saturday night she is safe at home with me and alive and very much traumatized from this accident.
She has been having terrible nightmares at night and I feel so terrible for her.
My poor little girl , I wish we would had never been out that night and Safe in our own home.
But who was to know what that night was to be.
After departing from the mall the paramedics took us both to the hospital my daughter still crying they took x-rays to find out no broken bones.
I was in utter shock and disbelief and relieved at the same time. Witnessing what i had seen that night I COULDN'T BELIEVE HER feet were not broken.
She did leave the hospital with crutches and a brace for one of her feet. She did have a torn muscle and sprain.
The next day I awoke to pain so severe in my back and I felt like a truck had hit me.
I went to the doctors and found out I pulled my back when trying to lift that heavy cement off my daughter.
My daughter though much worse of course.
When all this was done and behind us,
I cannot understand how a shopping mall would allow for an outside structure like that fountain was not affixed to the building or the ground and not stable?
I am very concerned and puzzled how an accident like this could had been avoided? This was a catastrophe waiting to happen.

If the public happens to come across my story I wish to thank those wonderful young girls who were out that night at the Vintage Faire Mall located in Modesto Ca. Right near the Apple store

And also those two men from the paramedics that were so helpful and caring thank you so much!

If you happen to be at the mall outside of the area where I have described, you will see the fountain gone and can no longer be a liability to ones safety.

Where do I begin?

Well first of all I will wonderfully admit that when Stephanie Meyers first came out with her first novel Twilight I first noticed the book at the Scholastic book fair that was being held in our local library. I remember walking over and picking up that book. What caught my attention was the cover "The shiny red apple" and then I noticed how thick the book was which I totally loved due to my love for reading. And I absolutely adore sinking myself into a book that I can quite get lost in it, "there is nothing worse than getting absorbed in a book and then finding out the story is over..." I loved also the fact that it was a paper back because paperbacks are so much cheaper to buy. Wow I just realized when the first twilight came out it was in paperback and with a different cover. So I decided to purchase the book along with some others for my daughter. Well I took the book home and began to read it and to tell you the truth I think I got through two chapters and it really didn't strike my attention. So that book kind of just sat on my book shelf for a month or so.... And then I began to hear something about that book again from who knows where...I heard it being about vampires and wear wolves and I thought how cheesy! Here I was thinking I probably didn't make a good choice purchasing this book. I really just thought it would stay on my bookshelf for good. Then I really don't remember but one day I opened it up and decided to give it another shot...
Then that's when it all changed....I never put that book down till the end..."I was definitely hooked!!" I couldn't wait till her next book, and the next, and the next...

And then finally Stephanie Meyers released her movies to the big screen. And i was just like all the crazed fans out there...I couldn't wait to see "Twilight" and then......

I was so disappointed! It was such a major disappointment.... The movie did not do any justice to Stephanie Meyer at all. I couldn't understand the book was just so awesome and the movie was like a total rip off!

Well after that I promised that I would never watch any more of the twilight movies, or at least pay to see them. So I did adventually see the rest slowly, but surely. Of course they never did meet any of my expectations. Until.....

Breaking Dawn 2

I must admit they finally did it right....
It was a rainy day and I was pretty bored I decided to call the movie theatre first to see if they're were any more tickets available. It just came out Thursday night the premier showing. And here it was Friday. And there were tickets so I drove over to the theatre and purchased tickets for the night showing.
Just two weeks previous I went to the movies to see Paranormal Activity and wow! I really don't think they could put a much worse movie EVER! That was definitely a waste of my time and Money and A Saturday.

So here we were getting ready to see Breaking Dawn part 2 and I didn't even see part 1 But I already knew the whole trilogy. So I was really pretty much happy leaving the theatre at the end it was a great movie! I guess they waited to the last to make a big impact on the whole Twilight story. Oh And I really loved the part when they put Stephanie Meyers on the wedding guest list.

Way to go "Breaking Dawn".!!!!!!!!

- Posted using BlogPress from my iPad
"Violets pet peeves"

Definition of the word "Pet Peeve"

Web definitions
an opportunity for complaint that is seldom missed; "grammatical mistakes are his pet peeve".
wordnetweb.princeton.edu/perl/webwn

What is a pet peeve?
Answer:
It's your favorite minor complaint. It's when someone, or somethings, actions really irritate you and you just can't stand it. It could be irrational, and not even annoy anybody else. It can be different for anyone. For example, I hate it when a person goes to turn while driving, and they don't turn on their blinker. It is something small that bothers you that other people are not bothered by. And also when u do something u really like and u cant help but To do it.

We all have our pet peeves I'm sure, but I think I have a bit too many. I wonder what that says about me? Do I offend easily? Does everything bother me? Or everyone bother me? I know one thing for certain #1 There are definitely some morons that should not be allowed on our roads that we drive on. #2 People should not be allowed to wear their pajamas in public # 3 people should be made to wear deodorant especially in elevators. But those are just a couple of my pet peeves, and I definitely could write a book of the things in this world that really piss me off... But I won't get into that right now. So I will have one pet peeve every week just so were up to speed to what's going on in my head and I'm sure you all out there share the same feelings as I.

Today we will talk about Violet's pet peeve #1

As I was driving out today there was a lifted truck driving in front of me. Now this would not have been no big deal to me, but what really offended me was the fact that this truck had something hanging from it at the bottom by the back bumper. And it was a metal pair of balls!
And when I thought it couldn't get any worse the license plate read: "Don't just stroke it Ram it"
I mean "really"? What kind of people do these things? Are they that backwards? And how gross, a mans privates? On their vehicle, how utterly discussing! Come on guys do you really think that's manly?
Yes, the better to easily identify trashy people. Because these things are just disgusting. Every bit as disgusting as a giant plastic vagina would be hanging from your bumper.
Are men wishing...
Hell…even my balls are bigger.?.Are they trying to compensate for ???

I know I'm not the only one who finds this offensive. I found this interesting story about a woman, yes A Woman going to court over plastic testicles hanging from her truck. What is happening to our world? To our people?

Here is the link read it for yourself....

http://www.dreamindemon.com/2011/07/30/woman-going-to-court-over-plastic-testicles-hanging-from-truck/

Preface…have you seen those scrotum sack things they sell which you can hang form the rear undercarriage of your vehicle? They look like this:

- Posted using BlogPress from my iPad
IPad Mini? I found this huge lump on my cats right leg on Friday and I have no idea what it is. I've gone on the net to see if other people have had this same problem and i really haven't found out much. I thought maybe it was a black widow bite or some kind of bug bite. It feels like its filled with fluid. My husband decided to try to pierce it with a needle but its skin was too thick and my cat kind of cried. My cat is showing no signs of illness he's still the ornery cat that he always is... I think I will wait and see a couple more days...and decide to visit the vet. My sister said she took her cat to the vet because it had an ear infection and that visit cost her $300
I really don't need that right now...

- Posted using BlogPress from my iPad
Beware mothers!

This story really made me think of numerous times I've let my daughter just leave my side in the stores...

A man attempted to abduct 7-year-old Brittney Baxter in the toy aisle at a Walmart in Bremen, Georgia, and the terrifying surveillance video is now circulating like mad. I tried not to watch it – who wants to watch an attempted abduction? – but I had to click play because, um, this is kind of my worst parenting nightmare realized. Fortunately, the girl kicked and screamed and managed to get away unharmed – thank god.
Brittney said the man started talking to her while she was looking at toys. Her mom, Georgeanne Baxter, was picking up groceries in a nearby aisle. Suddenly, the man put his hand over Brittney’s mouth and tried to carry her away. But the little girl squirmed, flailed her arms and legs, and made as much noise as possible until the man let go, ran away and drove off in his car.
A description of the man’s car led police to his home, where he was promptly arrested. Thomas Woods, 25, faces a charge of attempting kidnapping (though he denies the claims). Meanwhile, he was out on parole after being convicted of voluntary manslaughter, which makes the whole things all the more chilling.
Some people have already criticized Brittney’s mom, claiming it was irresponsible of her to leave her child unattended in the first place. But others have shot back with the fact that she was close by and that no parent can keep an eye on their child at all times. Either way, it’s not the mother’s fault this deranged man tried to kidnap her daughter, that’s for sure. I’m just grateful that Brittney knew what to do in this horrifying circumstance – a lesson we should all be teaching our children.

(Video: ABC News)

Read more: http://mommyish.com/stuff/video-man-attempts-to-abduct-7-year-old-girl-at-walmart-362/#ixzz20IMRTR3n

- Posted using BlogPress from my iPad
Not an ordinary day at the lake...

My husband and I decided to go out for a day out to silver lakes. It was a wonderful day sunny but not too warm. We packed up our fishing poles and picnic basket and our family dog and ventured out for the day. When we arrived we paid our entrance fee to the park and drove out a little to find an area that was a little out the ways.We finally found a place an parked. There was another truck also parked there near us about three car car length's away and there was a man asleep sitting inside. I had just finished my can soda and decided to place it outside the car since there was no trash can near bye. We unloaded our stuff and ventured out to the lake.At the end of the day when it was time to go home we packed up and walked back to our truck. It was near evening time. When we got back to the truck we noticed that the same truck was still there. That didn't seem too odd what seemed really odd was the fact that the man sitting in it was in the same position as he was earlier this morning. We kind of laughed it off and mentioned "I hope he's not dead" yeah right,I commented. My husband asked me Why don't you walk over and knock on his window to see if he's o.k?I said "no" why don't you?We eventually decided to notify the park ranger. The Park ranger went to see about the matter. 20 minutes later he came back to let us know that the situation ended up being a suicide. The man shot himself with a revolver in the head and died instantly. So what ended up being a trip to the lake was also a last day of someones life. Part 1 Somewhere in time...
I don't know how many times I've heard this expression by grandma, by my mother, you know you hear it plenty old times by the elderly.

But really stop and think about it, Were the good old days really good?

First of all don't get me wrong Ive always felt like I was never from this time. I have a love for anything vintage. I love old cars. I love old furniture antiques, even old wine. I love the old music. And I adore the old classics movie related.

So when I see these old movies I wish why wasn't from a different time? Everything seemed more honest, more simple, and the romance when courting, and opening a door for a woman or carrying a girls books to class, or dueling pistols for their love seemed more desirable.
And if a man wanted to date you or marry he would approach the girls father and asked permission first.
There wasn't too much unwanted pregnancies and if so everything was hush, hush. And you didn't hear of many divorces.

And the fashion of the women back then was so beautiful. The women actually wore their hair more feminine. up in combs, braids or twists.
And women wore these beautiful gowns or dresses, you knew when a woman was a female and the men were the male.

And the men seemed like gentlemen the way they dressed in the movies like Carry Grant they were so manly and handsome, you just don"t see that anymore...

Everything was so much fresher I hear the food even tasted better not with all these pesticides sprayed on them. Women baked everything from scratch. Remember grandmas fresh baked bread?
I don't think there was much pollution either.

What really fascinated me was there less crime? So I've been told you could even leave your doors and windows open or unlocked. No one would break in and rape or rob you.
And children didn't know how it was to be spoiled, imagine that perfect children. We could spank our children in public and never have the fear of a cop arresting you for abuse. I guess there was no such thing as child protection. Oh yes even the teachers were allowed to reprimand them.
I bet they got away with a Lott of things, remember that movie Jane Eire?

And let's not forget one of my old time movies"somewhere in time" the movie was about a love story that really took you back in time. Christopher Reeve had to even die to go back in time to be with his love... But I will discuss that in part 2.....

- Posted using BlogPress from my iPad
<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://violetb69-violetb69.blogspot.com/2012/06/good-old-days-part-1-somewhere-in-time.html' title='The good old days... Even though I've read that they're non stick I still get nervous. So I oiled up my cake pan with minimal olive oil.

I really started experiencing with silicone when I was making my resin jewelry they're awesome.
My resin jewelry pieces pop out so easily. And then with all the different shapes you find available they are perfect.

So anyways, chocolate cake really I cannot take all the credit for this recipe it was really half box cake mix and the rest well I had to put my little extras into it.

Recipe:
1 box of devils food chocolate cake mix (follow the directions on box)
Substitute oil for olive oil
I use extra virgin
Substitute 1 egg for 3 tablespoons of mayonnaise

Then after mixing
Add 1/3 cup of semi sweet chocolate chips
1/3 cup Heath toffee bits
1/3 cup of chopped walnuts

Bake cake as directed
For frosting I used regular chocolate

( Warning) definitely need a glass of cold milk

Sinfully rich and chocolaty!

- Posted using BlogPress from my iPhone

Location:My kitchen of course!

life.... a precious gift

-
We wake every morning with a start of a new day. But do we really live life to the fullest savoring every moment of our precious life?
I think it's in ourselves to take advantage of our gift of life. I've been very sick the past month thinking I had a very bad case of a bladder infection or worst yet kidney. Well Monday morning I had to rush to the hospital emergency room. Come to find out my prognosis was fibroids in my uterus. And if untreated leads to cancer. I was never one to get annual physicals. If I did go see a doctor,it was only for the flu. I figured what was the point? My over all health was never an issue. I now know when women get to a certain age, regular physicals are very important. A close friend of mine attended a funeral not long ago for a close female friend of his. It turned out to be cervical cancer, they detected it a little too late and she died. She was very young also. It's very sad when we women cannot be bothered to take some personal time for our well being. Why do we have to wait till were dying? Putting things off tomorrow, tomorrow, well tomorrow maybe too late. We need to stop being so caught up in our busy lives and if not think for ourselves, think about our children and family who will be devastated if we were gone. Life
a precious gift from god. We need to
show that we will cherish it...
Because we only get one chance.

Sent from my iPod

Posted using BlogPress from my iPad
should of, could of, would of....

There once was a woman who lived her life for her children and husband.

One day she found herself tired and old and she wondered where did her life go?

She never really accomplished anything for herself. And I have a hot cup of cocoa.

I'm looking outside and it's raining and it's just beautiful. It's funny just last week it was in the 100's, maybe that's the reason I'm loving the weather.

No I know I have always loved the cooler weather. And I don't understand when people say they get the blues when the weather is gloomy. "go figure"

Now yes there is the bad side to the weather conditions in the rain. Like the morons that don't know how to drive in it. It's like playing bumper cars especially trying to take your kids to school in the morning.

But then again those morons cannot drive to save there life in the normal weather.

It was so nice the other day my husband noticed that we have a new visitor in our back yard it's a beautiful toad. We had one two years ago it grew quite large, and then when summer time came it found a new home else where. I just wonder if this new frog is it's off spring.

Well how nice is this, can you picture this scene? Raining outside and hearing a frog making it's beautiful sounds in my backyard.

Now I recall the last toad we had I was going to capture it and keep it as a pet. But after doing a little research I found out it's chances for survival were not that good so it was better to keep it in it's natural habitat. I discovered it had plenty of food in my back yard to do well.

And I also found out that they hibernate during the winter by burring themselves and then come out in the summer again.

- Posted using BlogPress from my iPad

Posted using BlogPress from my iPad
Fall is here and I love it!

Well it's my favorite time of the year.

Fall is almost here. You walk into the stores and notice all the costumes and treats. All those scary things, don't you just love it!

This has to be my favorite holiday "Halloween"...
I can't wait to get dressed up this year and take the kiddies out trick or treating. No matter if your young or old this is the time you can let your creative side come out and play.

I know I will! It's time to go out and buy baskets of green apples and start dipping them in that caramel that we love so much.

And let's not forget all those green leaves turning beautiful orange, red, and yellow.

From September or October? As summer turns to fall, foliage emerges and trees transform hills into a patchwork of colors.

Crisp fall days are perfect for leaf-peeping.

"I love fall" And then the days start to get a slight chill in the air, you know the seasons are a changing. I wish I lived in New York I hear they have the perfect weather this time of year.

A Fall Trip To New England.....

fall is the season for true nature lovers.

hiking along back roads, in small towns and on mountains is a splendid way to see glorious, color-changing leaves. You might get lost, but you’ll enjoy doing so.

A trip to:

New Hampshire, Vermont, Maine and other New England states are well known for their gorgeous trees. Fall is the time when easygoing greens make way for vibrant shades of orange, red, yellow, brown and even purple. This particular photo was taken in Vermont on a back road near Woodstock. The house may be crumbling, but the trees’ magnificent foliage more than makes up for it. If you’re lucky enough to visit New England in the fall, don’t rely on sight alone. Take in the crisp air, rustling leaves and sweet smell of nature.

And then we have those little traditions that my family does every year we make a trip out to the "Corn mazes"
What fun we have getting lost in the mazes at night with our flash lights, telling spooky stories, taking hay stack rides, oh and don't forget the hot coa-coa with marshmallows!

And then my most favorite things about this time of the season is all the never ending wonderful scary movies....
And no matter what time of the year it is, I watch them anyway.
But when it's October, I kind of get that warm feeling inside and it just seems a little bit more special.

Anyways here's my top 20 flicks you have to see....

"violets top 20 favorite scary flicks for Halloween"

Top 20 violets scary flicks:

1. I tried it all.

I know I have read some forums explaining that they go through these phases because they want to be heard. I guess I can relate to that a little bit. I know I never resorted to cutting though.

In any case though our teens need attention and why are we not listening?
Are we that absorbed in our work and our careers?

Us parents need to wake up and remember when we were young. And it was pretty bad back then. And I'm referring to my teen days like forty years ago.
I remember at school going into the girls bathroom and everyone in there was either trying to score some drugs or getting high in the bathroom.

And when I think what our children are up against now a days it scares me to death.
And let's not forget the divorce statistics are way more higher now than back in the day.
Where you see more single mothers raising children on their own. It's very hard I know. I was raised by my mother and she was in that same situation.
And believe me I put her through so much worry and sleepless nights and I didn't make her job any easier. I resented her for remarrying. I was very rebellious. I was a teen who thought they knew it all when really I made my whole life a living hell, and everyone else around me. I know for sure now that if my mother would of handled things different with me, the outcome would of been better. I don't throw any blame on her though, parents don't come with a children's manual and you do what you think is right at the time.
I know for a fact though there is a much better chance for children when they have both parents in a house hold, or in their life. As for my personal experience growing up, my father was hardly around I'm still not sure if it was due to my mother not allowing him to be in our lives or my father just too busy with his other life. All I knew was that I really needed my father and I suffered so because he just wasn't there. I felt abandoned and it followed me into womanhood. I had many failed relationships always looking for and needing that fatherly figure, that stability. And then not trusting any man worrying that they would leave also like my father. And of course my mother did have a great effect in that department she raised us thinking all men are never to be trusted.

But as for any child when they don't have that security of both parents, there is definitely problems going to rise. If they have no one to turn to they turn to their peers. And that's about as the blind leading the blind, a child cannot help another child especially when that child has not enough maturity in life to support or give mature advice to.

And that's where more problems occur like alcohol, drugs, eating disorders, and then there's the issue on hand that's referred to cutting.

The first thing that came to mind when I thought about cutting was that movie called 13. That movie really blew me away. I was so shocked when I saw what those young girls were doing, and such an early age. I know I was no angel when I was young, but when I did start to engage in the wild side it wasn't until the later years of high school. I remember when I first entered my first year of middle school I felt like such a nerd noticing most of the girls wearing make up and I never had it on. And now today elementary school most girls look like they're in high school the way they dress, look and act.

Anyways as I was doing my own research about why teens revert to cutting it was really interesting to find out it's like the same as turning to alcohol or drugs. And also in the sense that they were depressed or felt like they were numb inside. Or even hurting inside, and needed some kind of release.

--------------------------------------------------------
"I had thoughts about suicide, but I wouldn't ever have attempted it. [Cutting] was just a way of doing something a lot less severe and a lot less permanent to express what I was feeling. I guess I didn't have any other way. It really scared me, because I was making myself bleed and it freaked me out. I felt that I just had so much pain inside me and so much I was going through that I felt like nobody could see, so I quantified it. That was what it was about for me, I think. It was like, 'This is how bad it is.'" Marlee, 21
--------------------------------------------------------
"Cutting was because I needed to get back into my life. You sink into this place where you can't think or feel, you don't know what you're doing. My brain, subconsciously, would tell me that's what I had to do to get out of the horrible hell I would snap into. Cutting yourself is pain and blood and living, and it's taking away the pain of being this empty person." Claire, 17
--------------------------------------------------------
When a person's pain or depression is very intense, they may become disconnected from their real self (known as a dissociative state) in order to protect themselves from their feelings. They feel so numb and lost that it's as if they are floating above the rest of the world or becoming part of the furniture or drifting away entirely. The physical pain of self-mutilation can snap them back into the real world.
--------------------------------------------------------------
There is so much research that I am undergoing due to my writing of my book. Since my book focusses on teens. I'm becoming to realize how I really didn't have it all that bad growing up. My heart really goes out to all the many young ones out there who are in need of help or love.

And if you are a teen and just by chance happen to read my blog, please feel free to contact me if you need to talk. I will promise to help in any way I can.
Can we all be friends?

-

I have a seven year old daughter, and as I was picking her from school yesterday she came skipping about like little girls do holding onto her friend's hand.

It was so loving and cute. And it got me to thinking, what would the world be like if we were all like children? First of all I think we would all be having more friendship, and not take life too serious.

I think the majority of us get so absorbed in our lives working the 9 to 5 on a daily basis and never really having the time to stop and smell the roses and look for the little bit of beauty that surrounds us.

It's sad also that were so judgmental when it comes to people, do we really give everyone a chance for friendship? Do we judge people by appearances only? What they do for a living? What kind of car they drive, do they have the right color of skin? Do they come from the right side of town? Are they the right religion?

All these factors do they really matter? Are we too judgmental?
I think children should be a great example, they don't take much notice when picking friends. They will be at a park and pretty much ask any child, do you wanna play? Would you be my friend? Do you want to be in my club? Do you want to go to my birthday party?

Wow wouldn't it be wonderful if we all were so bold?
I know in reality, we all can't walk down the street holding onto our friends hands, but think about this: next time your at the public library, or on the subway, or at the bank, or just visiting your local park, and you see a stranger, don't hesitate say hello ask how their day is, give them a compliment.

After a brief conversation, you never know, be so bold and go for it! ask: "would you like to be my friend"? That person may surprise you. Is chocolate good for us?

I found this article about the health benefits of chocolate.
One of my all time favorite sin food. I do know everything in moderation is o.k. Have you heard of the expression "Death by chocolate"?
Well at least I'm not a drug addict!

Even If Chocolate Doesn't Ward Off Heart Disease, It's Still Yummy
by NANCY SHUTE

Lots of M&Ms were sacrificed in the writing of this post.
Heart disease is the leading cause of death worldwide, but the tools to fend it off — low-fat diets, exercise, statin drugs — leave a little bit to be desired in the charm department.

Then there's chocolate. It's hard to resist the notion that eating lots of one of the world's most delicious foods could be the key to cardiovascular health.

But is chocolate "good for the heart"? That's just one of the pro-chocolate news headlines sparked by a rather wonky review just published in the British Medical Journal.

To find out, Shots called up Oscar Franco, a clinical lecturer in public health from the University of Cambridge, who was in Paris delivering his chocolate-and-healthy-hearts paper at a conference.

He confirmed that based on his analysis, and the seven studies it reviewed, there's no proof that chocolate prevents cardiovascular disease. What he did find is that people who told researchers they ate lots of chocolate were about one-third less likely to have heart attacks, strokes and diabetes.

"These are promising results," Franco told Shots, but we need to do more research to confirm these findings." That would require scientists to feed people chocolate in a randomized controlled trial, and then monitor their health.

Franco and his co-authors were candid about the shortcomings in their study. For one thing, it didn't measure how much chocolate the healthier people ate. And since the people had reported their chocolate intake themselves, it's impossible to know if they told the truth. Obese people tend to underreport their eating in surveys, and they are also more likely to have cardiovascular disease. So it could be that fat chocolate-eaters are much worse off than we think.

Unfortunately, Franco doesn't advise eating scads of Scharffenberger or Valrhona while we wait for science to do its job. "The advice is not to start eating chocolate," Franco says. "But for people who are already eating chocolate, to eat it in a moderate manner, on a regular basis, and not in a single gulp."

Why the moderation? Because chocolate is almost always mated with sugar and fat in candy, ice cream, and desserts. Those treats are hardly a heart-healthy delivery system. Tasty chocolate products that are less dependent on sugar and fat "would be a great benefit for the prevention of cardiovascular disease," Franco says. So get on it, food scientists.

Given the hype surrounding Franco's study, it's not surprising that more than a few readers, and journalists, thought that chocolate has been given science's seal of approval as the perfect health food. A headline on a press release from BMJ touting the study said as much.

"The headline for that release said 'It's official!'," says Kevin Lomangino, editor of Clinical Nutrition Insight, a newsletter for physicians and nutritionists. "The problem with that of course is it's not official. It didn't come from the Institute of Medicine, or the World Health Organization. It's one group of researchers with one study. "

Lomangino was so steamed over the BMJ release that he wrote a blistering blog post for the health journalism watchdog site Health News Review. His screed may have had some effect; news headlines posted later in the day have been more likely to tone down chocolate's potential benefits.

So, chocolate still isn't health food. But the bag of M&Ms consumed in the writing of this blog post was motivating, and delicious.

--------------------//---------//------------------//-------------//-------------//---------------//

The health benefits of Chocolate......

Is chocolate good for you? Yes! The health benefits of chocolate are many... assuming we're talking about the same thing, that is. I'm talking about chocolate in its purest form - as close to the bean as you can get. If you want me to tell you a Milky Way bar is good for you, I'm afraid you're going to be disappointed.

That doesn't mean, however, that there aren't any chocolate bars that are good for you. The key is to find a bar with high cocoa content. The higher the cocoa content, the less room there is for cocoa butter, sugar, lecithin, vanilla, milk, and other stuff that makes chocolate less of a vegetable and more of a candy.

Some of you may be thinking that a dark chocolate bar is bitter or yucky. If you aren't a fan of dark chocolate, you've probably never had the good stuff. See our favorite chocolate pages for one-way tickets to chocolate nirvana.

So just what are the amazing health benefits of chocolate? Most notably, chocolate is a champion antioxidant. Antioxidants help rid the body of free radicals, nasty little molecules running amok in your body which cause aging and disease. Antioxidants bond to free radicals and whisk them from your body via digestion and other means.

Quick. Think of the best antioxidants you've ever heard of. Red wine? Green tea? Pomegranate? Blueberries? Dark chocolate leaves them all in the dust. The USDA published a chart of antioxidant foods measured in ORACs (Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity Units). For every 100 grams, dark chocolate has 13,120 ORACs, and blueberries have only 2,400.

Antioxidant-rich diets have been linked to a lowered risk of heart attacks, stroke, cardiovascular disease, cancer, high blood pressure, cholesterol problems, arthritis, asthma, Alzheimer's and more. So it stands to reason that if chocolate is chock full of antioxidants, it's actually good for you.

- Posted using BlogPress from my iPad
<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://violetb69-violetb69.blogspot.com/2011/08/is-chocolate-good-is-chocolate-good-for.html' title='Is chocolate good?
