Two articles show the continuing meddling behavior the US and probably the EU have toward Serbia. They are disturbing.

The first one is from the National Interest and it described the continuing meddling we insist toward Serbia:

On his fourth try, Tomislav Nikolic won Serbia’s presidential election last week, defeating incumbent Boris Tadic by a narrow margin. Turnout was low. The number of ruined ballots was high. The electoral mechanism appears to have worked smoothly, freely and fairly.

Nikolic’s victory in this second round of the presidential election comes on the heels of his party’s victory in the parliamentary polls, which gave it the largest number of seats.

A majority of Serbs were fed up with a leadership that had failed to deliver jobs, economic vitality, Serbian sovereignty over Kosovo or sufficient progress in Serbia’s efforts to gain membership in the European Union or Serbian sovereignty over Kosovo.

Of course blame the Serbs for their obvious intransigence and stupidity:

How should Europe and the United States react to Nikolic’s election? Calmly and purposefully. The purpose should be to bring about genuine and deep reform in Serbia, which has failed in the more than ten years since Milosevic’s fall to purge fully its security services, investigate high-level involvement in war crimes and in hiding indictees, give up its control of northern Kosovo or support the establishment of a viable Bosnian central government. Washington and Brussels have put up with this, fearing that a tough line would undermine Tadic at the polls and strengthen nationalists like Nikolic.

I do not intend to defend the new Serbian president. There are some things we need to have done in the Balkans. But let’s recall that we were the one who attacked and bombed a sovereign nation that did not attack us nor was an imminent danger to legitimate national interests. It was the first of the feel good wars we seem to get into whether we have a Democrat or a Republican in the White House.

No, I suggest if we want Serbia to act responsibly, then we need to stop meddling in their internal affairs. Period. As that wise man once said, “We just plain don’t mind our own business.” That would clearly do more good than poking a stick in the cage and inciting the tiger inside. The Washington Times openly asks about a new Serbian war:

For years, Mr. Nikolic has railed against the West – especially the United States. He blames America for Serbia’s woes and wants to diminish Washington on the world stage. He is an Orthodox Slavophile who seeks close ties with Moscow. An admirer of Russian President Vladimir Putin, Mr. Nikolic hopes to emulate the Kremlin’s rule. He wants to expand Moscow’s influence in the Balkans. In the past, he has suggested that Serbia become a province of Russia.

In short, he is not some flinty Serbian patriot but a radical nationalist whose election threatens the region’s security. Mr. Nikolic has not abandoned the dream of a Greater Serbia. He claims, however, that he wants to achieve it “peacefully.” He demands that Kosovo be restored to Belgrade’s control; that the Bosnian Serb Republic secede from Sarajevo; and that Croatia relinquish areas claimed by Serbian revanchists. No wonder nationalists celebrated his victory, unfurling Chetnik flags and symbols, including the skull and bones.

Yet his policies will lead to only one outcome: war. He is challenging the national sovereignty and territorial integrity of Serbia’s neighbors. Mr. Nikolic is a political thug with delusions of grandeur. Serbia is eerily reminiscent of Weimar Germany. Defeated, humiliated and sliding toward an economic abyss, Serbian voters have opted for a neo-Nazi. He is not their savior. Rather, he is leading the Serbs – again – to doom and disaster.

Come again, Washington Times? We ARE partly to blame for Serbian troubles. We attacked their nation for no reason and took their ancestral homeland away from them! And we just won’t stop. It is no surprise that they voted for a radical. There is always blowback from unnecessary intervention. If you want to have influence among the Serbs, stop meddling and reach out a true hand of friendship: Apologize for the war. Take some of the aid we’d send to Pakistan and send it to Serbia instead. And stay out of feel-good wars like Syria. There are enough empty seats at family tables this Memorial Day; let’s not add any more unless it is necessary and Congress authorizes military intervention.

That is how many voters in Greece voted for the Greek Pirate Party, according to a report from Rick Falkvinge:

The Greek Pirate Party, Κόμμα Πειρατών Ελλάδας, was founded on January 14 this year. To get 32,487 votes less than four months later – just over half a percent of the Greek votes – is nothing short of phenomenal. Even breaking through to mainstream awareness in four months is phenomenal.

This is a good start:

It should be noted that the distance between nothing and 0.5 per cent is much larger than the distance between 0.5 and 5 — once you start hitting 2-3 per cent, you get your own bar in the polls, and become “electable”. You have a shot at parliament, so you’re not a wasted vote anymore.

It only takes 3% to get into the Greek parliament! There will be a new election June 17. A liberty party is what Greece needs, not the leftwing Syriza party, or the neo-Nazi Golden Dawn or Stalinist Communists! The fact is that the Greeks have rejected the pro-EU Tweedledee and Tweedledum parties.

I like the style of the Greek Pirates – they posted a letter thanking the voters at their website! They also have a FB page! Let’s hope the Greek Pirates get that 3% this time!

Artur Davis is a former Democratic Congressman who aspired to be the first African-American Governor of Alabama. Alas, he lost. (It is believed that Alabama, by the way, DID elect the first statewide African-American candidate in the USA if you do not count the rigged Reconstruction elections – this justice of the state supreme court. Justice Adams ran the only campaign I know of where his face was not on the literature. He used a chair as the pictorial center of the two sided brochure.)

There are two reports that Davis is considering a run for Congress from Northern Virginia. He is a moderate Democrat while in Congress who voted against Obamacare but also supported President Obama.

I think it is too early to tell if Davis would be a great GOP candidate either here or in Alabama but it is intriguing. We’ll see if he starts to get involved in local political races or attends local events.

Note from Dave Gaubatz: The below article was written by Los Angeles AP on 25 May 2012. One has to wonder why this has not made national news. Isn’t a planned suicide bombing attack by a Muslim U.S. soldier significant news the public would be interested in? Indeed it is, but if the Main Stream Media were to widely distribute this planned suicide attack it would cause Americans to question the true meaning of Islam itself. The last thing President Obama and his Administration want is for anything to make MSM news which reflects badly on Islam even if it could bring awareness to Americans and possibly thwart other attacks.

Los Angeles- An AWOL Muslim soldier was convicted Thursday (24 May 2012) of attempting to use a weapon of mass destruction on a Texas restaurant full of Ft. Hood troops, a verdict that could send him to prison for life.

A federal jury also found Pfc. Naser Jason Abdo, 22, guilty of all other charges against him: one count of attempted murder of U.S. officers or employees and four counts of possessing a weapon in furtherance of a federal crime, U.S. Attorney Robert Pitman said.

Abdo was absent without leave from Ft. Campbell, KY, when police found and arrested him in a motel in Killeen, TX, in July. Officers found components for an explosive device in his room and backpack and concluded that Abdo was intending to commit mass murder.

“It’s important to note that this plot was interrupted and a potential tragedy prevented because an alert citizen notified law enforcement of suspicious activity,” Pitman said.

Testimony during Abdo’s trial revealed that he intended to detonate the destructive device inside an unspecified restaurant frequented by soldiers from Ft. Hood.

Finally, VICTORY! An anti-Agenda 21 bill has PASSED a state legislature: Senate Bill 477 bans any state involvement in Agenda 21 programs that infringe on personal property rights and also bans any Alabama municipality from joining ICLEI (although ICLEI is not mentioned by name).

Here’s the text and confirmation that it passed!

Earlier in the day, House members passed and sent to the governor a measure aimed to protect Alabama from a world government. Senate Bill 477 was developed and passed to counter United Nations Agenda 21. The bill reads, “The State of Alabama and all political subdivisions may not adopt or implement policy recommendations that deliberately or inadvertently infringe or restrict private property rights without due process, as may be required by policy recommendations originating in, or traceable to ‘Agenda 21,’”

That ought to do it! Defund your mayor, too!

Read it and weep, globalists! This ought to have an effect on the Alabama cities in ICLEI! (They are: Birmingham and Huntsville)

I also have a unofficial report that Governor Bentley signed it but I cannot find an official source yet.

A BILL
20 TO BE ENTITLED
21 AN ACT
22
23 Relating to due process; to prohibit the State of
24 Alabama and its political subdivisions from adopting and
25 developing environmental and developmental policies that,
Page 1
1 without due process, would infringe or restrict the private
2 property rights of the owner of the property.
3 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA:
4 Section 1. (a) As used in this section, “political
5 subdivisions” means all state, county, incorporated city,
6 unincorporated city, public local entity, public-private
7 partnership, and any other public entity of the state, a
8 county, or city.
9 (b) The State of Alabama and all political
10 subdivisions may not adopt or implement policy recommendations
11 that deliberately or inadvertently infringe or restrict
12 private property rights without due process, as may be
13 required by policy recommendations originating in, or
14 traceable to “Agenda 21,” adopted by the United Nations in
15 1992 at its Conference on Environment and Development or any
16 other international law or ancillary plan of action that
17 contravenes the Constitution of the United States or the
18 Constitution of the State of Alabama.
19 (c) Since the United Nations has accredited and
20 enlisted numerous non-governmental and inter-governmental
21 organizations to assist in the implementation of its policies
22 relative to Agenda 21 around the world, the State of Alabama
23 and all political subdivisions may not enter into any
24 agreement, expend any sum of money, or receive funds
25 contracting services, or giving financial aid to or from those
Page 2
1 non-governmental and inter-governmental organizations as
2 defined in Agenda 21.
3 Section 2. This act shall become effective on the
4 first day of the third month following its passage and
5 approval by the Governor, or its otherwise becoming law.

Of course, I am pleased (Bama Law 83) that Alabama did it first. But ICLEI is a signature away from being banned in one of our fifty states. Praise the Lord Jesus! Now for the other 49…

They had reported (certainly accurately) that Mayor Bramson was attending. Apparently he changed his mind:

While it is our conclusion that a correction is not in order, we do want to make a clarification and we offer it here: Mayor Noam Bramson has stated that he was not aware of any such conference, never intended to go and never said publicly or privately that he planned to attend.

I think activists in New Rochelle and other cities, counties and towns need to ask their municipal leaders: Are anyone going to attend Rio+20 on behalf of our community? Regardless of the answer, ask them to defund the travel budget for this event. There’s other needs in the community to fulfill: Schools, roads, traffic lights etc. It’s unconstitutional for a local official to attend anyway. Starve the beast!

In this blog from Washington State, this activist [Bob Benze] published his remarks on ICLEI and here they are with highlights quoted below:

Good evening. My name is Bob Benze and I reside in Silverdale. I am an environmental engineer and a member of a number of boards including the Puget Sound Regional Council’s Growth Management Policy Board where I represent property rights organizations.

Hard to argue with an environmental engineer. The ICLEIites probably sighed relief for a second or two…

My question to you this evening is straightforward: Why would you want the United Nations, who’s member countries are quite frankly not supportive of America or its values, telling you how to plan your city’s future?

SLAM! BAM! It gets better; Benze starts with the Washington State Constitution:

Article I, Section 1 states: “All political power is inherent in the people and governments derive their just powers from the consent of the governed and are established to protect and maintain individual rights.

It does not say governments are established to protect public rights or environmental rights. Instead, government’s primary function is to protect individual rights, including the individual’s fundamental right to own property.

Our founders understood that the ability to create equity through property ownership is essential to the wealth-creating ability of a country. In the United States, equity loans on personal homes provide the funding for 70 percent of all small business starts. Michael Coffman says that: “When the state gains control over private property rights, the ability to create wealth stagnates or even declines, thereby creating poverty and misery rather than freedom and wealth.”

Hernando de Soto says that the inability to own property is the primary cause of poverty in much of the world. He notes that: “The poor inhabitants of these nations — five-sixths of humanity — do have things, but they lack the process to represent their property and create capital. They have houses but not titles; crops but not deeds; businesses but not statutes of incorporation.” De Soto concludes that, “The total value of property held, but not legally owned, by the poor of the developing nations and former communist countries is at least $9.3 trillion! If this “dead capital” was legalized, it could be used as collateral for investment loans, just like it is in the West – eliminating poverty overnight.”

Hernando de Soto is not the Spanish explorer who first crossed the Mississippi River but the author of this book: The Mystery of Capital. He ought to win the Nobel in Economics! This activist presented and cited sources. He also started with USA values. Now he contrasts them with UN values:

At the heart of the UN philosophy is Agenda 21, a core UN treaty document designed to strictly control energy development and consumption; transportation; industrial development; terrestrial and marine resource development; and land use. It was signed by George H.W. Bush at the 1992 Rio Earth Summit – but never ratified. Instead, it was implemented through an executive order signed by Bill Clinton.

Implementation at the local level is through ICLEI, the International Council For Local Environmental Initiatives — an international association of local government organizations whose members are bound to the sixteen ICLEI Earth Charter Principles to guide local actions. The major thrust areas are the three E’s:

Equity – which advocates a system of “social justice”.

Economy – which promotes Fabian socialist economics.

Environment – promoting Sustainable Development – which advocates the abolishment of private property.

The U.N. position on private property can be seen by looking back at Habitat I, the 1976 United Nations Conference on Human Settlements, held in Vancouver, BC. The preamble to the section on land stated, in part:

Land, because of its unique nature and the critical role it plays in human settlements, cannot be treated as an ordinary asset, controlled by individuals and subject to the pressures and inefficiencies of the market. Private land ownership is also a principal instrument of accumulation and concentration of wealth and therefore contributes to social injustice; ……

……….. Public control of land use is therefore indispensible to its protection as an asset and the achievement of the long-term objectives of human settlement policies and objectives.

Benze NAILS IT! He ties in UN socialistic land policies with ICLEI!

So the real question then is: Which system actually works for the betterment of society? Is it a traditional American capitalistic free market system, where individual people are free to own property without government interference and to pursue their own self-interests, or is it a United Nation’s system that places a higher value on the rights of the society and the rights of the environment.

I would suggest that real-world data clearly shows it is the former that has given us the wealth, the freedom, and the standard of living we enjoy – and the wealth to protect the environment — and that we should not casually abandon it for a system that has a history of failure.

The bottom line is that sustainable development policies simply don’t work. They don’t achieve their advertised objectives. Instead, they actually hurt the economy and they hurt the environment.

The choice is yours. Do you want the freedom to make your land use policy at the local level with the “consent of the governed” or do you want the United Nations to tell you and the people you represent how to do it? I would suggest that abandoning ICLEI would be a good start.

Thank you for listening.

Notice first – Benze didn’t call people traitors or other mean names. Second, he inspired his audience. Choose American values, not UN values. He also ended with a small objective that his community could do: Get out of ICLEI!

Bainbridge, Washington might very well be shortly OUT of ICLEI. Let me know when it happens.

The Democrats and liberals cannot wait to try to push the so-called Paycheck Fairness Act, which this blogger called the Mind Your Co-Workers Business and Increase Paperwork for Business Act (see page four of this source):

The Act would facilitate detection of pay discrimination by prohibiting punishment of employees who
share salary information with coworkers, by requiring employers to submit pay data by race, sex, and
national origin to the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, and by reinstating collection of
gender-based data in the Current Employment Statistics Survey.

Here’s more evidence from a leading progressive blog:

4. Existing law doesn’t go far enough: The Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act ensured that a woman has the proper window of time to sue for pay discrimination. The Paycheck Fairness Act takes significant steps to close loopholes in the original pay discrimination law, the Equal Pay Act, and to ensure that women can investigate whether they are being discriminated against. It also makes stronger penalties so that employers don’t violate pay discrimination laws. Included in the bill, too, is a grant for a salary-negotiation training program for women, who tend to be reluctant to negotiate.

I believe the Ledbetter Act is flawed in that is gives pay lawsuits a different statute of limitations than almost all other cases. The limitation periods starts with the cause of action begins or accrues. The Ledbetter Act restarts the entire action with every paycheck. No one else gets that liberal a treatment. The cause of action for other kinds of discrimination does not start every day you go to work!

But that is water under the dam. Note the key words: “…to ensure that women can investigate whether they are being discriminated against.”

That means exactly what I said several years ago: Your salary will be the business of all your co-workers and the Federal government. It will lead to quotas. Maybe even salary reductions for men! (Title IX, designed to help women, has been proven to hurt men’s teams!)

Stand firm. People do not want personal salary information disclosed to every disgruntled worker and to the government. Vote NO on the so-called Paycheck Fairness Act.

The Democrats and liberals cannot wait to try to push the so-called Paycheck Fairness Act, which this blogger called the Mind Your Co-Workers Business and Increase Paperwork for Business Act (see page four of this source):

The Act would facilitate detection of pay discrimination by prohibiting punishment of employees who
share salary information with coworkers, by requiring employers to submit pay data by race, sex, and
national origin to the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, and by reinstating collection of
This 1709 blog dedicated to copyright cites and translates the ideas/platform of the German Pirate Party on copyright:

This morning, (May 21) the Piratenpartei published what they deem the ten most important issues that should be addressed in reforming the current copyright law (here). As it is only available in German, I have translated (and somewhat summarised) them below:

1) The term of protection shall be shortened to 10 years post mortem auctoris. Among other things, this would alleviate the orphan works problem.
2) Authors’ shall receive stronger rights vis-à-vis right holders: authors shall regain their rights faster in case of non-exploitation and exclusive licences shall be limited to a maximum term of 25 years.
3) Beyond the initial purchase price, institutions of public education shall not be required to pay for using copyright works.
4) Libraries shall be entitled to store works in digital archives; free access for educational purposes shall be guaranteed.
5) The right to make private copies shall be defined and guaranteed; the creation of “remixes” and “mashups” shall be facilitated. Technological protection measures and digital rights management shall be abolished.
6) Basically the same as 2): reform of copyright contract law.
7) Private, direct, non-commercial file sharing and the passing on of works shall be de-criminalised.
New business models shall be developed (for instance “micropayment”, crowd funding, levies). Authors shall receive equitable remuneration but data protection must be guaranteed; mutual trust and new distribution channels are essential.
9) The practice of sending warning letters to private individuals (asking them to cease and desist from infringing copyright and to pay the incurred attorneys’ fees) shall be stopped; in order to have free WLAN networks, the concept of “Störerhaftung” (“disturbance liability” – secondary liability for someone else’s infringement due to a breach of duty care) shall be abolished.
10) Copyright law shall meet the expectations of contemporary “media savvy” users and shall not restrict creative uses.

I do not agree with all that. I would agree with shortening copyright periods and clarity for fair use. Bloggers who cite items without an admission fee should have an inference of fair use. Some file-sharing similar to an Open Office system should be allowed. Innocent infringement should never be criminal. I would allow free use of characters like say Encyclopedia Brown with payments afterwards to the original author as long as the reference is reasonably true to the original intent of the author or is respectful to that character. (Keep in mind I could right now parody Encyclopedia Brown legally but not respectfully use the character to advance it in a creative way! I need permission to do that!) NO $199.00 for a new Microsoft Office when I can pay nothing for Open Office! (That may be an antitrust question but the Pirates might consider that, too.)

But the Pirates will have to take on the EU to accomplish their issues

Every time UKIP leader Nigel Farage takes the floor in Brussels, he is the worst nightmare of the EU bureaucrats. It’s too bad more do not heed what he says. But remember, people used to make fun of Ron Paul, too. But not any more…

Here is the video at this blog!

Here’s the transcript:

Transcript:

President, we’re in the midst of an economic and increasingly humanitarian crisis and yet Commission president Barroso is not here. Indeed, Herman van Rompuy is not here either. Not that it relly matters, because they’re not prepared to listen to any debate or any argument. They’re intent on pursuing their political dream of a United States of Europe. They’re prepared to commit
economic suicide for an entire continent.

And tomorrow night Mr van Rompuy has called yet another summit at which he’s going to present a strategy for growth and jobs. Elected MEPs, representatives of the people of Europe from left and right – we’ve heard it all before – remember the euro itself was supposed to create growth and jobs and yet it is actively destroying both of those things.

The remedy we’re being offered is more of the same. I would suggest that the medicine is killing the patient, and to increase the dosage is madness.

And don’t listen to those who will tell you that the only alternative is for Greece to stay in the euro. Everyone’s pushing this. David Cameron, all the other leaders are saying, we must keep Greece in the euro, if she leaves the sky will fall in.

It won’t! There’ll be a few difficult weeks and then things will settle down. There’ll be a boom in tourism, investment will start to come back into Greece, innovation will start to come back into Greece as people start making products to beat expensive imports.

Indeed Greece outside of the eurozone may well provide to be an inspiration for Spain, for Portugal and many other countries. We need to recognise that a terrible mistake has been made. We must resolve to put it right. We’ve got to give people hope because out there now is absolute despair.

We all remember Dimitris Christoulas, the 77-year-old former pharmacist who shot himself dead outside the Greek parliament. But he is just one of a growing humanitarian disaster. Huge increases in suicides in Italy, in Greece, particularly from people running small businesses who cannot see a way out of the problem. Children being left in increasing numbers outside the doors of churches because they can’t afford to feed them.

Our leaders are too callous to listen and care. YOU can do something about this. YOU can rise up and say – and I know in my conversations with you that many of you agree with me, that I’m right – we’ve got to break up the euro; we’ve got to restore democracy; we’ve got to restore human dignity; we must ignore Messers Barroso and Van Rompuy, they have been proved to be wrong. WE must provide people with hope.
