Help Locate CIA Prison in Lithuania

The Washington Post and other media sources have reported a suspected CIA prison in Antaviliai (or Antavilis), Lithuania. The site is 12 miles (~20 km) northeast of Vilnius.

Can anyone find and post this map? -- skyeye

The newest imagery shows the plane is gone.

However this web site shows a plane (also supposedly in Mokpo) in position with a curved road in front of it. None of the buildings in the pics are on the old imagery. Also the ramps and supports for the plane are different.

Perhaps the plane has been moved and the blog shows its new location. Or is this an entirely different plane?

Can anyone find the new location in the current imagery?

Google to face Swiss court over "Street View"

Switzerland's data protection commissioner on Friday announced that he was taking Google to court in a dispute over privacy concerns on the US Internet giant's "Street View" facility.

Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner, Hanspeter Thuer, said in a statement that he was taking the case to the Federal Administrative Tribunal after Google had refused to apply the majority of measures he had recommended.

Microsoft updated bing.

They implement a new navigation:
- new layout (like the layout of the silerlight bing maps)
- the BEV is now under "aerial" like the "see labels checkbox"

- the small map which was down to the right is now in the top right.

- the "share your map" function is now placed next to some other function on the left site in the menue.

- the new URL's are shorter than the old. And the coordinates are more exactly.

You are showing the wrong house in Belle Haven/Greenwich.

The house you are showing at the corner of Otter Rock Drive and Walsh Lane is the neighbor's house (the Hammond house at the time of the murder). On your map/picture, the second house from the corner did not exist in 1975 when the murder occurred ... it sits on part of the old Moxley property where the driveway was located and murder evidence was found.

The THIRD house along Walsh Lane in your picture/map is constructed on the site of the old Moxley house at 38 Walsh Lane. This huge house with the small parterre garden, tennis court and large pool behind it was constructed after the original Moxley house was torn town (I believe in the late 1990s). Directly behind it is the McGuire house with the "shortcut" path that Sheila McGuire walked when she found the body.

The original Moxley house no longer exists and the numbers of the two houses on the old Moxley property have been changed so 38 Walsh Lane no longer exists.

Any possibility that some features like "Nearby Maps" could have preference options in the UID profile?
There are times when I am testing for dupes or looking for neighboring properties and the thumb isn't as helpful as the description so I end up mousing over all the thumbs to read titles.

I also wonder about the home page. I remember reading a post asking how submitters bookmark VGT. It would be cool to be able to organize/display/sort the welcome page, particularly the center column by a small number of info blocks; blog, latest maps, my maps, most popular, favorites, etc.

Duplicate maps taken down... not duplicates

I have had a bunch of maps taken down that were "duplicates of..." but they go under new ownership or people have simply posted the wrong owner or not enough information and I have put up the correct owner, then they get taken down. Why take down the correct map and leave the incorrect one up? -- imkjam

Comments Search, Adding Categories & Preview

I had a suggestion a while ago about including Comment fields in the Search. nic thought that this would really slow down the search but i wondered if it would be prudent to make this an option in the Advanced Search. This may help to improve the Comment participation and strengthen the data. I wouldn't mind waiting the extra search time via Advanced search...

Secondly, would it be possible to suggest an additional Category for moderator approval when only one category is submitted? Similar to new imagery? I often find myself searching for a potential entry only to see that it has been submitted with incomplete information...particularly in my areas of interest.

Finally, have you thought any more about a Preview function for submittal? I have had an embarassing number of premature submittals and the mods have been great about adjusting a submittal based on my adding an "adjustment" Comment before approval. Could we allow the maps to enter a limbo state that might allow submitters a chance to improve their final submission? Sometimes i submit and forget to include coords in my BEVs. The form complains and as punishment forces me to enter my categories again and maybe reenter the thumb...can't recall the exact punishment but there are form fields that require reentry. A limbo state would allow the system to highlight potential dupes, lack of info, etc. and give the submitter a chance to adjust their entry. This could reduce mod work...
