Tipu Sultan and Calicut University

In 1193, Bhakhtiyar Khilji torched the Nalanda University and destroyed it, citing the reason that the entire system didn’t suit their Islamic ideology and culture. Many centuries later, we again have the misfortune of affronting similar kind of barbarism. Just last year in Kerala, the Calicut University authorities not only withdrew the third year correspondence course history text book acquiescing to the demand of Islamic fundamentalists but also burned the entire published lot. The text book contained portions of Tipu Sultan’s conquest of Malabar, which mentioned the atrocities committed by him on Hindus during that time.

In Kerala, the trend has become such that, by the forceful interference of Islamists and the leftists, the authorities are mutilating the factual history especially that of the Tipu’s conquest that saw hundreds of temples destroyed, thousands of Hindus killed or converted and the wealth of Malabar looted. There is an effort going on in Kerala to paint Tipu as a secular social reformer and to convert his bloody conquest as a social revolution. Tipu’s conquest of North Kerala from 1766 to 1793 destroyed the peaceful social-cultural lives of the people there. The conquest not only ruined the economy of Malabar but also the religious demography there.

What Historians said

Vadakannoor Rajaraja Varma wrote in “ Kerala Samskrita Sahitya Charithram” that the favourite hobbies of Tipu and his father Hyderali was to burn Temples, destroy the idols and behead cows in front of Temples.

K.V.Krishna Iyer, Historian of Kozhikode wrote- “ The attack of Hindus by Tipu’s army should be compared to world’s most cruel and barbaric persecution on a community as a whole”.

Ilamkulam Kunjan Pillai (Wrote in the Mathrubhumi weekly of 1955 December 25)-

“During the conquest of Tipu, Kozhikode town was the centre of Brahmin. There were around 7000 odd households at that time. About 2000 homes were destroyed by Tipu’s attack. He didn’t even spare women and children,. Men absconded to neighboring regions and forests. Population of Mohammedans increased. Hindus, in groups, were forced to do sunnath (circumcision) and convert to Islam. After Tipu’s conquest the population of Nairs became negligible and Namboothiris very low”.

Temples destroyed by Tipu

Kozhikode: Thali, Sree Valayanadu, Kavu, Thiruvannur, Varaykkal, Puthoor, Govindapuram, Thalikunnu temples in Kozhikode town and many temples in the outskirts were destroyed by Tipu’s army.

Rest of Malabar: Malabar Gazette sais even the famous Thirunavaya temple was also wasn’t spared by Tipu’s army. Temples in Vettathunadu- Keraladheeswaram, Thrikandiyoor, Thriparangodu were also destroyed by Tipu. The Gopuram and idols of Thrikavu temple in Ponnanni were destroyed and the place was converted to ammunition store of Mysore army.

South Malabar: Temples in Kodikunnu, Thrithala, Panniyoor, Shukapuram, Perumparambu in Edappal

Guruvayoor Temple: When the news of Tipu’s army approaching Guruvayoor reached the people of the holy town, the devotees took Guruvayoorappan’s Idol and escaped from there. Tipu and his army marched forward and on the way they destroyed Palayoor Christian Church and looted households. It started raining heavily and Tipu stopped his journey. The rain continued for 2 days and Tipu was forced to retreat. Thus his dream of demolishing and looting Guruvayoor Temple was thwarted, perhaps by a Divine Intervention.

Temples in North Travancore: Thiruvanchikulam Siva temple in Aluva was looted and destroyed by Tipu’s army. Venkitachalapathi Devaswom temple in North Paravur and Makhanji temple near Manjali kunnu were destroyed by Tipu in 1790 on his second conquest after getting defeated by Travancore Army.

Varapuzha Catholic Carmalite Church and education centre attached to it was attacked by Tipu’s army. They demolished the church and adjacent buildings, and burned the books and records.

The atrocities of Tipu didn’t end with demolishing Temples, Churches and Jain temples, but included converting Hindus forcefully to Islam on a large scale, raping and molesting Hindu women, Killing men , women and children and looting the economy of Malabar. The brave Army of Travancore finally defeated Tipu at the battle of Nedumkotta in 1789 . Tipu injured in the battle had to retreat and left with a permanent lameness.

Is Imran Khan living in fool’s paradise?

Imran Khan promises to eliminate Jihadi terrorism from the face of Pakistan in 90 days if he gets elected. He seems to have already chalked out an action plan with which he strongly believes that he can remove the menace of terrorism from Pakistan forever. According to Imran, the cause of the growth of terrorism in Pakistan is the presence of U.S. army in the tribal areas and the drone attacks by it, which kills innocent people every single day. Naturally, the people are angry, especially the Pathans, who has gradually taken up Jihadi terrorism to avenge the U.S. aggression. Imran Khan’s solution is simpler than his reasoning- asks the Americans to leave and once they pack up, the Jihadis will quit fighting. Is it as simple as what Imran believes? Does the terrorism in Pakistan have only one characteristic- that of the Jihad against the Americans?

The Wiki leaks cable dating from late 2008, published by the Pakistani newspaper Dawn came out with some shocking revelations. The cable details point to the sudden widespread growth of sophisticated Jihadi recruitment network in poor areas of Pakistan, which recruited children into divisions that grew Deobandi and Ahl-e-Hadith madrassa network. The network exploited worsening poverty of areas like Multan, Bahawalpur and Dera Ghazi Khan Divisions. Younger children (between 8 and 12) were preferred and were sent to comparatively small, extremist Deobandi or Ahl-e-Hadith madrassa in southern/western Punjab to get indoctrinated into Jihadi philosophy. They are further enrolled in regional/ indoctrination centers and ultimately send to terrorist training camps in Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) and Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK).

The source of funding for the Jihadi network comes from the Oil rich Saudi Arabia and to an extent U.A.E. A family receives upwards of $ 6500 per son for getting their ward recruited in the madrassa. While exact amount of money pouring into this projects were unavailable, the staggering estimates put the total to the region of $ 100 million annually. But why do the Saudis fund Jihadi terrorism in Pakistan? The answer is simple- to establish “Wahhabism”, a particularly austere and rigid form of Islam originated in Saudi Arabia. These Deobandi/ Ahl-e-Hadith Madrassas funded by Saudi oil rich Sheikhs has proliferated across Pakistan, India and Afghanistan, creating Jihadis to exterminate the Shiites, Sufis, Ahmedis and Christians in Pakistan, to fight the government in Afghanistan, to kill the Christians in Nigeria and Indonesia , and Jews and Hindus world over.

Imran Khan is looking at only a portion of the aspect of Jihadi terrorism in Pakistan. Terrorists or extremists in Pakistan are not only fighting the Americans but different sects and nationalities, which Imran Khan has failed to understand despite working closely with Pakistan’s political affairs for many years now. A 100 years wouldn’t be enough, forget 90 days, to eliminate terrorism from Pakistan unless and until the government cut the supplies of Saudi funds to the Deoband/ Ahl-e-Hadith Madrassas, dismantle the 100s and 1000s of Madrassas spread across Pakistan and lock up the Maulanas and interlocutors behind bars.

Dileep, The Best Actor

The Kerala state film award for the Best Actor goes to Dileep. Dileep's intial reaction was that he was surprised and the award was totally unexpected. Many of us also have the same opinion. Dileep, it seems, has displaced (with the help of the jury) two contenders this year (films of last year), Mohanlal (for Pranayam) and Thilakan (for Indian Rupee). 10/10 of the reviews of both "Pranayam" and "Indian Rupee" had approbated the acting of Mohanlal and Thilakan respectively. None of the reviews of " Vellaripravinte Changathi" (for which Dileep got the award) even mention any speciality in Dileep's acting. Moreover, news reports say that Dileep's name never came up until the last hours of Award jury's discussion. It was Mohanlal and Anupam Kher who were in consideration for the best actor award until one hour before the declaration of awards.

Did the jury who decided the awards consider only 2 films, when they decided on the best actor award-- ie; "Vellaripravinte Changathi" and "Krishnanum Radhayum"? Did the jury consider only 2 actors-- "Dileep" and "Santhosh Pandit"?

Talibanization of Kerala

             Last week, the 5th minister of the Muslim League (forcefully inducted into the UDF ministry) - Manjalamkuzhi Ali, inaugurated an unusual program at Kamaleswaram high school, situated in Trivandrum city. He inaugurated -the distribution of study materials to " THE STUDENTS HAILING FROM THE MINORITY COMMUNITY", Students from Muslim and Christian ( a handful of them) community were handed over the study materials in an embelleshing function at the school campus, while the rest of the students stood watching the proceedings startled, not knowing why this discrimination on the basis of religion.

         This incident is just one of the several incidents that showcases the religious discrimination policy adopted by the Congress led UDF government. Muslim League, the second biggest party in the UDF government has taken over the governance from the Spineless Chief Minister Oommen Chandy and misusing it for their benefit. Incidents like

(1) issuing orders to the government teachers to wear green colored blouses at school
(2) registering (illegally) vast lands owned by Calicut University to the names of Muslim League president Thangal's nephew and Industry minister Kunhalikutty's uncle.
(3) senting circulars to the Panchayats by the government to contribute/donate Rs.3,00,000 to C.H.Centre(An instituition in the name of Muslim League patriach C.H.Mohammed Koya and owned by Muslim League)
(4) Education Minister Abdu Rub ignoring the government's decision(that was announced by the Cheif Minister in the assembly) to take over 35 schools and declaring in the assembly his party decision to grand aided tiltle to those particular schools that eventually would help the management who hails from his community
displays the characteristics of this government.

       Central government policy to appoint police officers on the basis of Muslim population ratio, has been hastily implemented in Kerala. Free training for competitive exams exclusively for Muslim youths gets rolling. Strengthening Madrasas, pensions for Mukris, Muslim special scholarship are some of the programs that are clearly showing the religious discrimination policy adopted by the UDF government.

      Abdu Rub, the eductaion minister has also been in controversy for his despical acts towards Indian culture and heritage, like- changing the name of his official residence from Ganga to grace, and refusing to light Kerala traditional lamp at a function.

     This government reminds us of an era when India shuddered under the foreign Muslim rule. Its time for the people to wake up and prevent the Talibanization of Kerala state.

The megastar of Malayalam Cinema was shocked! An old man like Shahrukh Khan, half a century old had touched his feet in reverence in a Television Award function in Dubai. Hundreds of movie fans watched it in flesh and blood, millions watched it in Television. Mammootty would have cursed himself for attending the function; he might have dwindled like a worm. Mammootty was always releaved for his intelligent fans ignorance of his real age. Incidently, I asked my friend RL, a hard core Mammootty fan and a rare twenty first century innocent guy, about his idol's age. He replied confidently-" around 53-54, not more not less". Like RL a large number of people in Kerala believes that Mammoottty is a 53 year old young man. So when an old man like Shahrukh Khan, almost 50 year old man falls on his feet, what would his possessed fans think? What would an egostic-narcissist actor think?

Is a new dam, the solution?

The politicians of Kerala are misleading the people by reiterating that a new dam is the only solution for the safety of people with regards to the Mullaperiyar issue. It takes 8-10 years for a dam to be constructed and do the political kingpins of Kerala mean that until then the ordinary people living in the vicinity of the 116 year old dam should bear any catastrophe pertaining to the collapsing of the old dam? Why are people like P.J.Joseph not insisting for the decommissioning and removal of the Mullaperiyar dam and instead bellowing for a new dam? Why are we trying to be magnanimous to build a dam for Tamilnadu using the money from the tax payers of Kerala?

“It is peculiar to observe that while dams are removed in the US in large numbers, they are being constructed in equally large number in India. Though objectives for the dams are the same in both the countries, yet in the US many dams are found uneconomic while in India they are mostly believed to be economic”. This is a quote from the book “Decommissioning dams” which explains the mind set of our ruling class. Can a place like Idukki hold yet another dam? The politicians are not contemplating the ill effects of constructing dams either because they want to help the construction mafia and in turn embezzle money in the pretext of dam construction or they are ignorant. The other day a seasoned politician like V.S.Achuthanandan said that the LEFT DEMOCRATIC FRONT would construct a new dam. He is ignorant or his advisors are ignorant as the cost of building a dam is not a few thousand Rupees; in the US it costs around 10 million dollars for a small dam and in India it would be double or triple and added to that the corruption involved will make it an enormous amount. If the LDF is going to build a dam then who will remove the 116 year old Mullaperiyar dam? The UDF? These buffoons have made not only themselves ludicrous but also the ordinary people, who echo these stupidities!

A new dam will only add burden to Idukki’s ecological equilibrium. Kerala has no business to build a dam for Tamilnadu as the lease indenture on Mullaperiyar dam that was built by the British by arm twisting the Maharaja of Travancore in 1886 got expired in 1947 when India became independent. And, the validity of the Communist chief Minister’s and his ally Congress’s decision to renew the lease indenture in 1970 without consulting the concern of the Kerala Assembly is questionable. The politicians have diverted the real issue of decommissioning and removing the old Mullaperiyar dam tactfully and is now voicing for a new dam. This is a ploy of the politician-construction mafia nexus. A 10 year period of the construction of the Dam means both UDF and LDF can have the share of the pie! People of Kerala shouldn’t fall into this trap.

“Decommissioning and removing the 116 year old Mullaperiyar dam is the only solution the Government can arrive upon in this burning issue. And the Government should also desist from constructing a new dam that will again jeopardize the lives of ordinary people.”

Mullaperiyar campaign – Politician’s goldmine?

K.M.Mani and P.J.Joseph who are the ministers in the present UDF Government and who were the part of different ministries in the past, V.S.Achuthanandan who was the Chief Minister of Kerala for 5 years, various political leaders from different parties, were seen in the forefront in the Save Mullaperiyar Campaign in the form of fasting and other methods of protest. How serious are they in this matter? Are they really concerned about the Mullaperiyar dam safety or these are just gimmicks to create a vote bank? Let’s go to Mullaperiyar’s history and analyze the role of politicians in this issue.

While constructing Mullaperiyar dam, the engineers were not aware of how to design the dams against the effect of seismic forces. The Dam Safety Review Panel formed by the World Bank and the Government of Tamil Nadu, as part of the Dam Safety Assurance and Rehabilitation Project (DSARP) headed by Dr G N Tandon, in its report dated July 1991 had recommended that ‘two accelerographs could be installed in Periyar Dam - one in old and one in new backing concrete to monitor the real response of the composite dam to seismic events in the area, the monitoring of which is said to be being regularly done at Idukki.’

In 1995, the Geological Survey of India (GSI) had again conducted a geological mapping of the Mullaperiyar Dam area as part of the Dam Safety Assurance and Rehabilitation Project aided by the World Bank. In its report, GSI had advocated to ‘study the seismogenic capability of the lineaments by instrumentation and monitoring of the Mullaperiyar area.’’

What did the Governments in Kerala in 1991 and 1995, and the subsequent governments do with regards to this matter (Installing accelerograph in the Dam and conduct studies on seismogenic capabilities of the dam)

Even after a lapse of over 20 years, no action has been taken.

On 29 October 1886, a lease indenture for 999 years was made on Mullaperiyar Dam between the Maharaja of Travancore and the British Secretary of State for India for Periyar Irrigation Works. In 1947, after the Indian Independence the lease agreement expired. Instead of taking steps to decommission the Dam, the Kerala Governments from 1956 lead by CPI-M and Congress did nothing in this regard and slept over the issue, and surprisingly the agreement was renewed in 1970 when C Achutha Menon, the Chief Minister of the Communist Government, whose major ally was the Indian National Congress, was in power. By then Kerala had squandered its chance of taking control of the dam.

In February 2010, the Supreme Court decided to constitute a five-member empowered committee to study all the issues of Mullaiperiyar Dam. In March 2010, Tamil Nadu told the Supreme Court that it was not interested in adjudicating the dispute with Kerala before the special “empowered” committee. However, Supreme Court refused to accept Tamil Nadu's request to scrap the decision to form the empowered committee. Kerala was in advantage since then. However, recent developments shows that Kerala is squandering its chance of a new dam because of a campaign that has been blurting out stupid sensationalism and bruiting fear among ordinary people, especially from irresponsible ministers, political leaders and desperate media. This has only irked Tamilnadu further, the result- Kerala has been singled out. The campaign should have been formulated in a different way. Kerala should have concentrated on facilitating with relevant facts to the empowered committee constituted by the Supreme Court to study all issues pertaining to Mullaperiyar to make the case in its favour.

Remember, implementing directions of the Supreme Court, the Central Government extended the terms of Empowered Committee for a further period of six months, namely till April 30, 2012.

We have a crowd of incompetent, irresponsible and imbecile politicians in Kerala, who are leading a campaign that is harping more on sensationalism than rationalism, and I fear, would lead to nowhere.

Mullaperiyar issue needs urgent intervention

So from Santhosh Pandit we leap to DAM 999 and subsequently, the Mullaperiyar dam issue. I never knew that we had three and a half crore dam experts in Kerala. Even some actors have paused their acting and have become “damologists” and seismologists. I saw few impudent puerile minded urchins in few social media networks, who claim to be grown ups, were yelling and groaning at the ordinary Tamil workers and puking racist verbal diarrhea against them! What right do they have to call themselves an Indian! I saw few common men of the “state with highest literacy” posting phrases like-“otherwise also I hate ‘Pandis’. Pandi is a derogatory termed used for Tamil by few stolid people in Kerala (not everyone). Literacy …tptu… what’s the use of literacy if you can’t recognize and consider human beings as human beings? All their venom pouring against Pandit all these days is now re-directed to the Tamilians!

A disaster of a big magnitude is foreseen by different studies. Although some of them are hypothetical, a quick consensus should be arrived between Kerala and Tamilnadu in settling this burning issue. The core of the matter should be safety for Kerala and water to Tamilnadu(As Oommen Chandy puts in). The politicians from both sides (especially the Dravida Parties) should not allow sensationalism and in turn hatred to take upper hand in the issue. There are almost 15-25 lacs Malayalees living in major cities of Tamilnadu and a good no. of Tamils living in Kerala. Nothing should happen that would jeopardize their existence. All the people who spread hatred in social media in connection with Mulaperiyar issue should stop it and should behave with common sense. The Prime Minister, I hope, will intervene and find an amicable solution to this issue that is acceptable to both the parties!

And finally, a word about DAM 999. One of the film critics who watched this movie said that this isn’t even a main stream movie and it needs all the commotion around to attract the audience. Claim of “Hollywoodness” of the movie is just bogus. All the articles published in newspapers and magazines on this movie before the release seem to be highly propagandized ones. It seems to be yet another lame movie that would attract people as in the case of “Krishnanum Radhayum” just for everything except quality.

Kunhalikutty - The greatest endorser of Jihadi Terrorism in Kerala

The allegation against Industries and IT minister P.K.Kunhalikutty on his role of sabotaging the CBI investigation into the Marad Massacre have been substantiated by his colleague M.K.Muneer’s disclosure to the American Consulate officials which was in turn exposed by wikileaks. Muneer had told the American officials that Kunhalikutty Sabotaged the CBI inquiry to save the Islamic Radical Group NDF for his own petty gains. On 2nd May 2003, 8 Hindu residents of Marad were brutally murdered by NDF activists.

NDF is short for National Democratic Front formed with the ex-SIMI(The banned outfit Students Islamic Movement of India) and the Muslim league elements, have been playing Al-Quaida’s Kerala role for long. Although, the reason for Kunhalikutty’s sympathy towards NDF is clearly not known as of now, it is widely believed that NDF and Muslim League share common cadre. Muneer’s another shocking revelation to the US consulate officials were that of the continuous infiltration of Jihadi terrorists into the Muslim League party. What Muneer said was to be true then one has to conclude that these infiltrations are happening with the knowledge of the top brass in the Muslim League. Justice Nissar Commissions findings on the Muslim League cadre’s attempt to create a communal tension by attacking a Dalit colony and Hindu institutions in Kasargode on 15th November 2009, substantiates a strong presence of Muslim radical Jihadi elements in the Muslim league party.

The recent Wikileague expose has not only destroyed the Anti-American mask adorned by the Marxists comrades of Kerala, but also exposed the Jihadi character of the Muslim League, the partner of the Indian National Congress in the central UPA government and the UDF government in Kerala.

Who let the dog out?

Manish Tiwari prides himself as the barking dog of the Congress. When ever the Congress leadership or the UPA King pins get beleaguered, they let loose this loutish dog out! When he starts barking, we are reminded of this famous song- “Who let the dogs out?” However, here we’ve got to use it in singular- “Who let the dog out”? The dog barks at everyone he encounters and then returns back to his Kennel like a faithful animal. That is Manish Tiwari for you! He leads the pack of AbIshek Singvis, Jayanti Natrajans(no more a spokes person now), Renuka Chowduries, Tom Vadakkans… wow.. What an impressive line up!

It was only a few days ago Tiwari had asked who was Katrina Kaif on the half foreigner-half Indian issue and said that if he responds to the likes of Katrina, he might have to respond to a Johny Lever another day! The famous columnist Rasheeda Bhagat in the Hindu has strongly criticized Tiwari for despising Johny Lever as if the latter was some shoddy brute. Tiwari has crossed all the limits of decency. Will the Prince Charming, the embodiment of good, the apostle of the righteous withdraw the haranguer animal from his party’s mouth piece?

Curbing Jihadi terrorism- What Swamy meant...

Mr. Subramanian Swamy has been in the storm of controversy after his article in DNA which opinionated among other things, withdrawing the voting rights of Muslims in India. It seems, prima facie, to be a drastic comment that could tarnish the secular fabric of this country. But then, instead of bellowing for his pound of flesh, one should discount such comments and look into other aspects which he has said, that hold true in the present day India.

Vote bank politics has been a curse that has fallen upon the democratic setup of this country. Parties intentionally pursue vote bank politics and formulate their plans according to it. Minorities have been pampered the most in many states in India. A good example is the political scenario in Kerala - Muslim league; a communal party has been the biggest ally of the Indian National Congress for the last 60 years. Abdul Nassar Ma-adani who is in jail in connection with the Bangalore blast was a major ally of the CPI-M for a long time. The other day the Congress-Muslim League Government in Kerala dismissed the Justice Nissar commission that was investigating into the riots in Kasargode perpetuated by Muslim League, in which numerous Hindu institutions and a Harijan colony was attacked, only because the commission named Muslim league's involvement. It is difficult to believe that the Congress and the Communist pursue a minority communal agenda for the welfare of the down trodden in the minorities.

It is very easier said than done to bring an end to vote bank politics unless and until the majority in the minority religious groups think beyond religious terms. There are a sizable number of Muslims in India who believe that he is a Muslim first and then an Indian. There are thousands of them in India who love Pakistan than India because of their religious inclination and significantly because of their ignorance. There have been numerous instances when in the last many years when a particular group of people in India, fired crackers or indulged in ecstatic celebrations every time when Pakistan beat India in Cricket or hockey. I have seen one of my acquaintances in Kochi virtually celebrating the siege of Mumbai on 26/11. Please watch the video below of a Muslim youth ( a school drop out) from Bangalore, who wants to settle in Pakistan just because India has more Hindus.

He is just one among the lakhs of ignorant and misguided youth who wants to live in Pakistan, which according to them is their ultimate Jannath (Heaven). The Indian Government should conduct a survey to find out the details of the people who want to desperately live in Pakistan in the rest of their lives and should help them migrate to their paradise. For that the Government should sign up a bilateral agreement with Pakistan Government so as to have safe transfer of these Pakistan lovers to Pakistan. The religious schools which are believed to be the breeding ground of religious hatred should also be asked to stick only to theology and nothing else that invigorate the youth to pursue in hatred and terrorism. The borders should be secured properly to prevent the infiltration of Bangladeshis on the east and the Pakistanis in the west. These people originally break into India in search of a livelihood but later become one of the decisive factors in formation of Governments. The vote banks politics could be controlled to a large extend by these ways and the Government will not fear to act against the Jihadi terrorists, as they are doing today.

Jesus Christ is known as the apostle of peace and at one instance he transgressed himself to demolish the greedy. Little he would have thought that his followers in a tiny strip of land called Kerala is destroying peace and embracing violence for safe guarding their greed for money. The CSI church, the other day, displayed its intolerance and thrashed up journalists in Thiruvananthapuram, who had exhumed the shoddy activities (of selling the Medical merit seats for exorbitant rates) of the CSI church and made available it in the public domain. While I write this, I’m also not certain that even I would be spared by these CSI hooligans. Such is their money and muscle power.

We have been watching the inter Church Council fighting tooth and nail with the Governments to protect their greed. Christianity in Kerala has become synonym for money and conversions using cajolement. We saw the two sections of Orthodox Church waging war at each other a couple of years ago and the end result of which claimed a person’s life. The kind of words the rival Bishops were using to attack each other would even put the criminals to shame. Ultimately everyone wants to have a big share of the pie.

At the outset let’s congratulate the UPA (Indian) government for facilitating our fighters (terrorists or jihadis to the Indians) blasts their bombs and shoot their bullets on the hapless citizens of the financial hub of India, Bombay (we don’t want to call it Mumbai as the Hindu fundamentalists wants to call it) again and again.

We also want to congratulate Rahul Gandhi who bite the American ambassador‘s ear repeatedly at a dinner meeting to convince the latter that Islamic terrorism is just okay for his Government when compared to the Hindu one.

We also like to congratulate our brother Mr.Digvijaya Singh Moulana (we like to add Moulana to his name for the immense love we have for him) who gave us a clean chit on 26/11 and put the blame on the R.S.S with his wonderful conspiracy theory, and for his incessant support for our Lashkar-e-toiba , Jashe-e-Mohammed fighters and our Indian brothers Mujahideen and SIMI.

We are relieved that they (Indians) have a home minister who’s more concerned about the Muslim votes than our fighters who rampage their cities. We are also relieved because they have an idiot of an External Affairs Minister who has a good habit of reading somebody else’s speech and then behave as if he has done some smart work.

We are thankful to the Hindustani Huqqumat (Indian Government) for taking care of our fighters Afsal Guru(Thanx to SoniaG and Ghulam Nabii Azad for their special interest in delaying his sentence) and Ajmal Kasab, and spending crores of Indian Rupees on their welfare.

The scene is a star award night of a Malayalam TV Channel in the newly found Kodambakkam of Kerala- Kochi. The persistent super stars Mammooty and Mohanlal, the real super star of India, Amitabh Bachchan, a host of other stars from Kerala and Tamilnadu and the thousands of fans thronged the stadium where the function was held. In the middle of the program, all of a sudden, the 54 year old M.G.Sreekumar, the singer-music director, emerges from the fourth or fifth row, wearing a shirt printed with bright color flowers, gallops to the front row like newly born mule, shaking his pot belly and lands in front of none other than the great Amitabh Bachchan. Mr. Bachchan looks at the middle aged man dressed almost like a joker, with sense of bewilderment. Sreekumar pulls up a dirty piece of torn paper from his trouser pocket and starts singing, looking at Mr.Bachchan and pointing his palm towards the star. It was the first line of the famous song from the 70’s Bollywood super hit “Lawaris” in which Amitabh himself portrayed the title role. The actual words in the first line of the song is thus- “Mere angane mein tumhara kya kaam hai”? And what we heard from the Kerala singer was- “ Mere angaane mem tumara ka kaam hai?” He repeated the same line quite a few times and one could see a lot of embarrassed faces around. Amitabh Bachchan gave a bigger bewildered look as if thinking who was this thick skinned crank distorting his famous song. Mr.Bachchan would have never ever turned up for this program if he had expected a dim-witted oddball shamelessly coming to him and singing, distorting the lyrics and the music of a famous song of his!

Dear SREEKUTTAN- you could have rehearsed the song and checked the pronunciation of the words in the lyrics before you had started singing it in front of Amitabh Bachchan , the thousands of the audience present at the venue and the millions of TV viewers. Shame on you M.G. Sreekumar!! All I can do is pray -God save Malayalam cinema from these gobbledygooks …

One winter morning Shashi sar woke up in his comfy Delhi residence thinking lazily about the busy schedules for the day. Before he could yawn out his morning sluggishness, he heard his mobile ring. He took the cell phone that was stuffed under his pillow and saw an unknown number flickering in the display. “Some Kerala number?”, he thought. He brought his mobile close to his ear and heard a coarse voice of a middle aged man,

“Good Morning saar, I’m the T.C.Mathai. I’m the secretary of a closet cricket association”

“Uhh”, Sashi sar (SS) shrugged his shoulders in dismay; Some idiot speaking in broken English, he thought.

SS is always a people’s leader and hence took care not to outrightly dismiss anybody from his state even if the person was a preposterous dumb head. His philosophy, like any other seasoned politician was that never shoo away people as they are voters who can make or break the career of a politician.

SS asked in a pleasant tone,” What can I do for you sir?”

“Saar you knows me very very well, I’m the meeting you 2-3 times in a public functions at Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram”

SS just recognized his voice and remembered that he had met this guy quite a few times at various programs related to cricket; an obese who represented the class of people who made fortunes without moving their ass.

“Oh tell me Mr.Mathai, what can I do for you?”

“Saar, a wonderful chance has the come to make a team from Kerala in IPL… you will support us…no?

“Definitely it’s a good thing Mr.Mathai…I’ll definitely give you all my moral support.”

“Ayyo, saar model support is not enough… we want your influence”

“Oh Gosh, I’m in a responsible position and how can I stoop to the level of influencing and stuff…please spare me from this”, SS spoke anxiously wanting to get out of that tantrum as soon as possible.

“Saar don’t say no… you will be the doing good to the state by helping us… once a team comes, the economy will grow and prosperity and prosperity everywhere”!

“Whose economy is going to grow…yours?” SS restricted the spontaneous thought that arouse in his mind to himself and said,” I know Mr.Mathai that the people of the state could benefit, but for that why should I tarnish my reputation by indulging in undemocratic practices?”

“Saar you will also benefit… “, Mathai tried his usual acquiescent stuff

“I don’t want to taint my image for paltry benefits…”Said an exasperated SS.

Mathai chuckled as if pacifying SS. He said,” Saar, you think small benefits, I can arrange big benefits… you only have to “sweat”..”

“Sweat?”, SS asked perplexed

Mathai chuckled again and said,” I’ll tell you in the person… I’ve some Gujaratis who will invest the big money…everything goes the well we will have the team of Kerala.”

When Mathai hung the phone SS contemplated,” one stone- two birds… not a bad idea”

Mathai sat in his in living room and gasped at the TV visuals of the sorry figure of Shashi sar coming out of the PM’s residence tendering his resignation. A coveted position- flunged away for nothing! “ Sweat equity aur kya kya? Kochi IPL aur kya kya” Equity be gaya…kaam be gaya aur naam bhi gaya! SS seriously wished that he could squeeze the nut called Mathai.

After two days when Mathai’s guilt has dried up, he called SS from his Kochi residence to render his condolence .

“Saar, Good Morning the Mathai here.”

“What now?”, SS voice carried all the bitterness that was in his heart

“I’m the sorry… that foolish fellow Modi is the responsible for all the problems…”

“Shut up … now listen, I have lost everything, don’t have to remind me of the bygone things…just do me a favour…”, SS’s voice, although was now devoid of the bitterness it had a few seconds ago, was demanding.

Mathai asked in a confused tone,” what saar”.

“I have lost a lot in the bargain…no problem, but there’s huge outcry for matches to be played in my constituency also…you should make the capital also as one of the home ground.”

What SS heard was a long guffaw from Mathai. SS waited patiently until the guffaw stopped. He asked,” hmm? Why are you farting like an animal?”

Mathai got serious,” you can the ask me my life but not venue…Kochi will be the lone venue and this team will be the known as Kochi team.”

“Why are you so admant about Kochi?”

“Haha..Kochi is the only vibrant city in Kerala…you know and it has the city crowd in lakhs who’ll watch matches ”, Mathai slammed phone in despise.

Mathai sat at a corner of the 55000-capacity stadium and looked miserably at the empty stands. His Henchman was sitting next to him and counting the no. of spectators in the stands.

A dejected Mathai said,” stop this nonsense; tell me how many people are there?”

His henchman said apologetically,” if 2 more guys had come it would have become 3000 people”

“Already half of it are free passes, 2 or even 10 will not make much difference in the collections, Mathai said in a sad tone and then asked,”Leave it, tell me where are the owners?”

Henchman smiled embarassingly and said,” They said they are going to the marine drive, to have some peace of mind…”

Mathai, inadverdently said,” hope they won’t jump into the sea!”

Mathai thought in embarrassment about his famous two words that he gave to the TV channels, to the poor Shashi sar and to various press walas – VIBRANT KOCHI !

He walked out of the stadium when the final nail on his team’s coffin was thrusted in by the opposition team. He headed towards the Kaloor church to light a candle and when he reached there, he was bedazzled to see the team owners standing in genuflection in front of the church in the dark!

What happened to T.C.Mathew’s vibrant Kochi ?

While I’m writing this, four games in IPL has been over and the respective winners were Chennai Super Kings, Rajastan Royals, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Mumbai Indians. The inaugural match between CSK and KKR had a capacity crowd at M.A.Chidambaram stadium, so was the second match played on Saturday afternoon in Hyderabad, which also witnessed a capacity crowd. It was heartening to see the Pune Warrior fans travelling all the way from Pune to Navi Mumbai to watch their stars play and filled up the D.D.Y.Patil stadium almost to its capacity. With this kind of crowd in working hours, it was definite that there would be a capacity crowd for the late evening Saturday match between RCB and the debutant Kochi Tuskers Kerala at the 55,000 capacity Jawaharlal Nehru stadium in Kochi. Surprisingly what one could see was a stadium not even half filled; a meager 17000 odd crowd was all we had in the Kaloor stadium. No body would have expected such a lukewarm response from the city of Kochi that had seen in the past, swelling with capacity crowds for various one day international matches that featured India.

Sunday’s (April 10, 2011) “The Hindu”, reports thus- “…the Kochi stadium, a big oval that can seat 55000, was not half full to witness the grand party. For a team which was making its debut in the glamorous IPL, the response of the fans was a big disappointment. Just about 17000 fans turned up to witness the opening show that had stars like Mahela Jayawardene, Muthiah Muralidharan, S.Sreesanth, Virat Kohli and Zaheer Khan.

The empty stands at the Jawahrlal Nehru stadium, Kochi makes one to contemplate the following points.

1. A major chunk of the people who came to watch the one day internationals in the past were from Malabar and the southern districts like Trivandrum and Kollam. The original Kochi crowd might have been a small percentage.

2. Why didn’t people turn in from other parts of the state? Could it be related to the reason that people believed that this is just a Kochi team and not a team representing Kerala?

3. Kochi is a small city of a population of just a shade above 6 lakhs and 70% of it coming under lower income level, and expecting events like IPL (Ticket prices are comparitievly high) to be successful seems to be a serious lapse on the part of the people who took intiative to form the team based in this city. Mathrubumi reported on Sunday that the low turn out could be due to the high rated tickets.

Almost a year ago, when T.C.Mathew, secretary Kerala Cricket Association and Ajith Kumar, the former secretary, fought tooth and nail against identifying the team as a Kerala team and insisted a Kochi tag, people including this writer envisaged this situation of lukewarm response from the people of Kerala. Shashi Tharoor due to the pressure from people had requested the KCA to have a few matches of the team in Trivandrum and Kozhikode as well. The response from T.C.Mathew and his cronies were uncalled for, as they said Kochi has a vibrancy that no other city in Kerala has! Now they have seen the kind of vibrancy Kochi had shown to their debut match. The so-called vibrancy is a Frankenstein created by certain Medias who have stakes in Kochi. Shame on you T.C.Mathew, who has drooped so low almost like an agent of real estate mafia of Kochi. The event was an utter failure and I seriously doubt in the next edition of the IPL, the team could be shifted to Ahmedabad. Ultimately, the owners want revenue and the gate collections form the major share of it.

Shakeela for Tuskers!!

Kochi Tusker’s debut match and Kochi stadium’s inaugural match at the IPL was a great disappointment. It was a disappointment not because the team was crushed by A.B.De Villier’s swashbuckling innings, but by the kind of luke warm response from the people of Kochi (the fans as they call it).The 55000 capacity stadium had altogether just a 17000 odd crowd (that included 5000 odd RCB fans , some 200 odd journalist, 350 policemen and the KCA bandwagon(that could number in 1000s) lead by T.C.Mathew). A local newspaper report attributed the debacle to the high-ticket rates! T.C.Mathew the self-designated apostle of Kerala Cricket blamed it on Rahul Gandhi; he said that all the fans who were supposed to watch the match had gone to attend Rahul Gandhis meeting (who was there in Kochi the same day). If we play the videos of Rahul Gandhi’s meeting at Kochi, that struggled even to attract 2000 people, we will understand how childish Mathew is. Kerala cricket team former coach Balchandran attributed the empty stands to bad marketing (Poonam "Nude" Pandey should be used for marketing in the future). All are just ludicrous!

Nevertheless, the positive about the whole thing was that, there were hordes of people fixed up in their seats or hovering around, where the cheergirls danced. I thought, 5000 odd might have come only to see the cheer girls gyrate their hips. At this rate, I think, Shakeela in the stands would have made a great difference to the Kochi Machus. Shakeela became the heartthrob of Malayali youngsters with her antics in soft porns of the 90’s. I urge T.C.Mathew to rope in for Shakeela for the next match and force an increased turn out at the Jawharlal Nehru stadium! Shakeela should be made the ambassador of the team at the earliest, or else I doubt the gujju owners of Kochi Tuskers may be forced to shift its venue to Ahmedabad! Those who buy this idea may please send request saying,” We want Shakeela” to Mr.T.C.Mathew, Secretary, Kerala Cricket Association, Thycaud, Trivandrum-6950014. or to the former secretary Ajith Kumar, Kaloor stadium, Kochi. They both know how more vibrant Kochi can become with the presence of the likes of Shakeela and Poonam Pandey.

could not ask for another day to celebrate in grandeur, other than this day when its team surged to the helm of the world cricket by winning the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011. There was not a city in

India

that did not celebrate the country's greatest achievement in sports. The street celebrations in almost all the major cities went on untill the Sunday dawn. Our own Trivandrum or Thiruvananthapuram also joined the celebrations in a jovial way with young people carrying Indian flags, shouting slogans, thronged various parts of the city. The centre of the street celebrations was of course the statue square, which is in front of the secreteriat, the Governing axis of the state of Kerala. The M.G.Road was obviously blocked partially and made a thin traffic blockade in the middle of night. Youngsters rode bikes carrying the tricolor, drove cars, other four wheelers spread with large Indian flags and shouting slogans in ecstasy. Crackers burst at the corners of the city and colorful fireworks emblazoned the skies.

However, the happiness was short lived as the police who were watching the whole show silently were ordered to disperse the crowd to reinstate the traffic flow. The police went on a rampage beating up people with lathis; whomever they found on the road were beaten up and were scared off. Is this the way to control a celebrating crowd? Why couldn’t the police control the youngsters who were rejoicing their team’s bigest victory, in a peaceful manner? Are we still carrying the British legacy of lathi charges and violent retributions to nonviolent crowds? Many cities in India, yesterday celebrated almost blocking the roads and traffic, but nowhere had we seen such savagely act! Are the police in Kerala, showing up their ego or are they trying to stamp their authority of dominance on the man on the street. There is no law that suggests violent action against crowd that on the course of celebration was uintentionally creating a few hindrances to the traffic. There was not any curfew imposed that said that people should not flock on the roads. Surya TV reported that most of the policemen were drunk!

A few months back a political party blocked the roads for days in Kerala in the name of blockading central Government offices, Why was the police then a mute spectator? Where did the protectors of law go then? The law should be equal for everyone. The youngsters of Trivandrum were sporty enough, as they did not react to the nomadic and brutal action of the Kerala police. The repercussions of beating up the youngsters would have been different if it was a Kolkatta or a Mumbai.

We are largely ignorant about Indian politician’s drinking habits. A few months ago, the Kochi IPL patriarch Shashi Tharoorji was in news for modelling for a whiskey brand (actually it was a photograph of him receiving an award intiated by the whiskey brand). The Marxist felt that it was so much offending that they started an outcry on the issue. They wanted Tharoorji to apologize to the public. Tharoorji laughed it off; you know he’s practising an American brand of politics and if you don’t sip a peg or two you ain’t considered as a politician there. Remember Tharoorji is the first person in

who kept his hand on his heart while the National Anthem was being played- another yankee style.

What about the communist? Communist in

never touched any of the liquor brands as a matter of policy. They stuck to their own indigenous brand of Vodka. The more you drink Vodka, the more you become Communists was their philosophy. In Kerala too, Vodka seems to be acceptable but owing to its price, lower-level comrades might have switched on to Tuskers and OPRs(both constitute the major chunk of the Bevco revenue). Antony deliberately banned the locally made vodkas(read as Arrack) to teach the true communists a lesson. Although Beedi, Parippuvada(dal vada) and tea were known as staple diet of the communists, clandestinely arrack too took to the list in olden days!

RahulG have had the opportunity to travel all around the world and can’t believe that he could have restricted himself to sipping champagne. He looks scotch to an intriguing eye. Digvijay Singh was a raja once upon a time before he became the scavenger in Congress and obviously, he might have had the expensive Raja Brands of scotch whiskeys before dinner. Talking about the Rajas, the real Raja comes up into my mind. Crores have beeen lying around him like dried leaves in summer; he too could have tried a peg or two of the most expensive liquors in the world.

Finally, the eyelids of Ramesh Chennithala and the lazy countenance of Oomen Chandy tell it all. Infact hardcore Pinarayi Viayan fan and the avid film maker Ranji Panicker portrayed the chief minister, who resembled Oomen Chandy, in his movie Bharat Chandran IPS, as a drunkard.

Christian Brothers :Yet another trashy junk by Udayan-Siby

Once upon a time, there lived an underworld don. He was sweet and kind, and bound closely to his family. His dad didn’t like him because he earned his lively hood by donning a robber’s job instead of becoming a doctor or an engineer. He became a don not by choice but by a trickster‘s stratagem or perhaps by destiny (that’s in flash back!). He has a brother who will make you laugh with his Walt Disney’s character kind of cameo. The hero here, will do everything that is supposed to be done by the police. He fights against a group of villians (they are Hindu brothers) who are not underworld dons but something like panchayat warlords deadlier than Dawood Ibrahims. The Hero uses the entire wardrobe of a near by readymade showroom to emblazon his plumpy body and dances along with the glamorous dolls in between his other antics. Climax and anti-climax follow….That sums up Christian Brothers written by UdayaKrishna- Siby K.Thomas duo and directed by the old formula film war-horse Varkala Joshy( one feels sorry for him- it is believed that creativity is directly proportional to change; sadly he’s unchanged for last 45 years).

Hardcore Mohanlal fans will say that it is a wonderful movie and hardcore Mammootty fans will make fun of them (they conveniently, will forget their favourite actor’s monkey dance in Pokkiri Raja, another saga of idiotism by Udaya-Sibi).

“Two hours of entertainment is what we need and not some story that helps in uplifting the society”- says people like Rajesh G. from Varkala (a random representative of today’s youth).

“We are not here to ponder upon high funda stuffs”, says Riju, who’s a hardcore fan of director Shankar and actor Prithviraj( he loves Prithvi because of his physique, I guess, rather than the acting skills).

However, then how long will you bear these kinds of films that have become dull and droning due to the repetition of the story and treatment? Don’t you want a change? Don’t you want to become a part of this changing world? Don’t you think Cinema is the greatest medium that can help in make people think and contemplate about the future of this world? If you don’t think so, then you should applause the puny Rajni saar bashing up 10-15 villains double his size in no time and make you leave the theatre with contended minds. But then you will have to realize that you‘ve been trapped into a virtual world of joy! There is no escape from that untill you will be forced to think late in your life, that you’ve lost!

By acting in these kinds of trashy junks actors like Mohanlal, Dileep and others, believe that this can help them in rejuvenating their thining careers. On the other hand, they are damaging the good name they have earned after the many years of hard work they have put in. Some people have started asking,” which one is better Pokkiri Raja or Christian brothers?” It is like asking- which is better, shit or crap?

It all began in a lazy Kochi Saturday afternoon, when all of Kochi was emblazoned with the oomph of Urmila Matondkar’s skimply clad postures, that attracted amorous gapes by naïve looking pedestrians every where; a slight drizzle added to the revelery by making the roads shine and fill up with puddles. All roads seem to be ending at the Sridhar Theatre, which was ready with its first show of the Hindi movie Rangeela. A crowd, braving the incessant drizzle, had built up in front of the theatre pushing and prodding for a place near the gate at the ticket counter. Aji stood under the turret of a near by building protecting himself from the drizzle that seemed to be developing into a heavy shower, adoringly looking at the huge cut-out of the heroine of Rangeela. He wasn’t waiting exactly for the gates at the first class ticket counters to open, but for someone whom he was incessantly following for an opportunity to meet. In the morning at the chat, Lathika had hinted to Aji (for Lathika, he was still a faceless guy called Kochunni who lived 100 kms away), of her movie program with her friends in the evening. Moreover, that sent signals to his twisted brain indicating an opportunity to meet Lathika in flesh and blood. Her other attributes revealed on the course of the chat were by-heart to him. Therefore, it wasn’t much of a difficulty in identifying her.

As he stood uncomplainingly under the difficult circumstances of rain and the irksome crowd, he began to feel that; finally, his patience has been paid off, when he saw a lone, tall girl under a colorful umbrella on the road walking with beautiful stride towards the theatre. Lathika! He murmured in joy. She wore a flowery skirt that barely covered her knee and a bright pink top that floated on her curvaceous body. Her face had that sweet innocence that he had stared with adulation umpteen times as images in his monitor. Aji was ecstatic, although he knew that he has to use all his ammunitions to start a conversation with her. Kochunni was not Aji and vice versa! Kochunni known to Latika, atleast in her imagination, was a six-footer handsome hunk and Aji was nowhere near. A skinny guy who could be, not even touching 5’3” ; a bony face character with two protruding teeth in the front, definitely was going to invite that beautiful girl’s wrath.His physical shortcomings were suddenly looming large in his mind. However, he was not letting himself loose such a wonderful opportunity; after all why was he beguiling away the valuable 6 months of his life into enticing the lass. As she approched the gates that paved an opening to the way to the balcony, Aji caught up with her, walking in quick strides.

He called out from behind,” Madam, do you have tickets?”

She was obviously surprised and turned back with a curious look. She had bent her head and look down at the puny guy,

When the election dates were announced, by the election commission, V.S. Achuthanandan had already maneuvered an advantage LDF situation by digging up the corpse of the ice cream sex scandal case and nailing the vocally blatant Balakrishna Pillai. Those who prognosticated a 100 seat win for UDF, Suddenly had to eat their words. Achuthanandan was in the lime light and according to the political observers; the tables were turning in favour of the LDF. There was obviously a panic in the UDF camp. They had been caught napping. Kunhalikutty was searching for covers; the Congress leaders were groping in dark not knowing how to counter Achuthanandan’s sudden battering. The Congress suddenly was under a catch 22 situation and began to fear that Achuthandan’s actions out of the blue could make mincemeat of their elections dreams. They contemplated hard with their sunnormal brains and decided to target Achuthanandan’s son. It didn’t do a lot good to them and failed to convince the man on the street and the situation largely, remained the same.

No body thought the Congress and the UDF could get a breather and could come back into reckoning for winning the elections. Then, it happened. There is a vast majority of comrades in the CPI-M, who would be happier to loose elections rather than to see Achuthanandan becoming the CM again. When it was time for declaring the leader who would lead Bengal and Kerala to the elections, Budhadeb was there; Achuthanandan’s candidature was neither announced nor did any district committee recommend his name. CPI-M ‘s fortune, everybody thought entirely depended on Achuthanandan’s candidature with regards to his latest actions and the man on the street was ready to forgive the LDF government if Achuthanandan led it again. The Marxist comrades, may be of prejudice or may be of fear, felt easy in squandering the chances of coming to power again rather than V.S. taking up the credit and the limelight, and inturn the Chief Minister position. There you go; the UDF is smiling again and rolling back into reckoning.

Less than 30 days to go for the elections, and as always, it will be difficult to predict how well the poli-tricks in the past and in the coming days are going to the influence the election results.

Animal Slaughter- hasn't 21st century grown sane enough to stop this

The above video evoked comments by various individuals in you tube, facebook and twitter, which said that the scene in the video was not for the weak hearted. When it comes to such brutual and barbaric scenes not only the weak hearted but also the people with stronger will fail to watch it with a stable heart. Again keeping apart the sympathetic factor, how can a sane and a civilized world society allow such an aboriginal and spiteful act done by a society of naives in the name of religion? Killing animals is a grave crime, let alone torturing to them to death. Four legged herbivorous animals are victims of human selfishness in different forms in the world at present. People, who slaughter these animals for food is also destroying the ecological equilibrium. Like the human beings, animals also have a right to live. No one has the right to take their lives.

India

has a sensible society compared to those socities with a pre-historic aboriginal outlook and should lead the way of tolerance to animals by baning animal slaughter of any kind. Please raise your voice against this cruelty and brutality, there by we could help in protecting the right to live, whether it's Human or animal.
