In this concrete jungle around us you rarely get to see nature. Be it trees, water bodies or birds. We all have become robots work , eat and sleep and the cycle continues.I somewhere feel our emotions develop,change, stop on basis of our social networking. I am not against electronic media but I do feel we are addicted to electronic gadgets and applications.

I have been working with a Hotel management Institute for some years now and i teach about aesthetics.Its very important to have have something pure, natural in your periphery to freshen you up and calm you down.

I love to see something natural and lively in my work area.So I bought these indoor green plants for our cafeteria section.

I wanted to revamp this planter, Googled some great post on fabric used for pots. I had some decorative craft paper with me. Mesured it and cut the paper into the required size.

I used a thick adhesive below and above the decorative paper on the planter to prevent it water, dirt etc .

So this is it, an natural and decorated piece of beauty.

Wall Art- Foil Paper

I was travelling in the interiors of Maharashtra last weekend. It was so eye soothing to ride through the lush fields of different seasonal vegetables and fruits.My son 2 years old was also accompanying us on this trip. Being a mom you need to be careful of what not to give and what to give your child while travelling.Thus each day I made sure I carried some home made food and drinks for my son.

When on a trip I tend to carry most of the food in disposable containers and foil wraps to reduce baggage.

It was late evening and my son wanted something to eat,I reached out for a container filled with fruit. As he quietly eat I glanced at the foil container and was sure I wanted to try something crafty with it.

As its the first time I have been experimental with an aluminium foil i tried to make a wall art.

I Cut the card Paper into a circular shape. Then stuck a black velvet paper to make a fabric like background.

To make a design Fold the foil paper into square shape and cut a desired shape of the design.
I made small leaves to form a design.It depends on each ones perception on creating a design.

I made this design to use it for different purposes as to use it as an backdrop.

Punching machine can be used to make small spherical shapes.

An aluminium foil due to its sparkling appearance can make an art look so beautiful. I kept this wall art behind my bappa .

Isnt it a smart way to use something so resourceful in a crafty way. Do give it a try. See you soon!

Fancy candle Holders

Hi happy Diwali to all of you friends!

Welcome back!

Its festive time and this year I wanted to our regular diya with some fancy lamp.

After some research I got to know used C.D can be a good reflective source of light as lamp holders.

I had a wax lamp and a holder all I needed was some embellishments for the presentation.

Embellishments: these are easily available at any novelty store. I have used a lace of beads and some almond shape stones. you could get a variety of color and shapes.

In the picture below I have used a golden bead lace with some pink glass shapes.The open space on the c.d helps to reflect the illumination of the lamp.

In this Picture I have used different glass shapes to form a simple lamp holder

In the picture below I have used ready to used stick on stones.

And finally to sum it all I painted some hand made diyas with acrylic paints.We got to be traditional also thus some handmade lamp painted by me.

Stocking flowers

Hello Pals! It has been months that I have posted some crafty stuff.

When u have a toddler back home all you can think off is to have a fun filled creative lifestyle.

Last week when I was cleaning my wardrobe i found some old hair accessories which i use for wedding and parties, it was actually a clip attached with flowers made from stocking material This is when I felt I should try my hands on artificial flowers made out of stocking material.

So here it is people

Material required: stocking fabric( easily available in any novelty store) nylon or regular thread, easily bendable metallic wire and scissors

With the help of a spherical container make a sphere of the metallic wire and wind the open ends to keep the sphere in shape

Insert this metallic sphere shape wire inside the fabric and stretch the fabric to one end of the wire.The wire should be be completely enclosed in the fabric.

Hold the fabric on the wire with the help of a thread. Place 3-4 four stamens besides the petal and wind it with a metallic wire to hold it in place.
Picture below will help you understand it better.

Now place the other petal and attach it with the help of the thread.
Once the petals and stamens are attached shape the petals to form a flower.

Finally cover the stick with green tape to form the stem of the flower.

Thus your flowers are ready.

You could use them in accessories and in show piece for decoration.

Towel Origami Workshop

Hello,
Whoaa!Its 30 December today and I simply cant wait for 31st evening. This month I have been busy attending weddings and events that I hardly had time to do some real creative stuff.But yes I had conducted a towel folding/ towel origami workshop for our college students.And I would like to share some cool creative stuff we made from towels.

Towel Origami: Originated in Cruise-liners to decorate the bed with creative animals and forms made from towels.Its quite common nowadays in resorts and suite rooms in hotels.

Material Required: Towels- bath towel,hand towel,bath mat,accessories- ribbons, bindis ,hat,specs etc.
There are different animals that can be made from a bath and hand towel.I have also posted crab and dog making post earlier.

Trendy Bracelets

Welcome Back,
It has been more than 2 years i have been blogging on creative art. I have no idea how many followers I have made but my dear college students always follow my blog and keep updating me of some new creative art .
This time it was Sarthak one of my third year student who came up with the idea to make bracelets. Rubberband bracelets- quick and easy form of art.One can do art easily anywhere anytime.

Material Required: loom bands -multicolor, green -loom needle,red- band board.

Procedure: this art is all about interlocking different color rubber-bands together to form a pattern.
Initially twist the band and attach it on the band board exactly as shown in the picture besides.

now attach two more bands on the band board.

Now start pulling the rubber bands out of the board.
As u start removing the bands out they start locking the bands together.

Thus after placing two bands on the band board keep getting the last band out of the board to interlock the loom bands.

insert a plastic hook to hold the first open band in place.

keep weaving the bands in alternate or same color to form a design.

thus your cute little rubber band is ready.

get the last band on the band board attached to the plastic hook to form a circular hand bracelet.

thus a cute multicolored band is ready.

Traditional Indian Lantern

Diwali!One festival that every member ,every house and every state of India looks forward to celebrate .Many mythological stories are related to this festival .Brightly lit houses and bomb- bomb noise of fire crackers on streets and sweet and savory food delicacies is something you cant miss out on.
Diwali means light a new beginning and victory thus in every house you may find some trendy lighting and decorative lanterns.
I wanted to try something traditional, Eco-friendly and arty so here it is traditional Lantern Making.
Articles required:
Card Paper sheet-white, stapler,fevicol,gelatin paper,kite paper-color of your choice,golden paper.scissor, scale, pencil.

Procedure:
With the help of scale and pencil draw lines of 2 cm each.Cut these two strips . now form a circle from each strip like shown in the picture below. Thus the base and head of the lantern is ready.

Now cut 4 more strips of card board of 2 cm each and length of 9 cm each like in the picture below.

Attach these four strips to the 2 rings in the form of pillars. this makes the inner structure of the lantern. like the picture below.

line this base structure with red gelatin paper to pass the bulb light easily.To make a colorful outer structure cut the kite paper in square size of 9 cm each.

To make the borders decorative cut the square shapes with zig zag cutting scissors.

Now paste any two ends of the square sheet together. Allow to dry and then stick the plain side of the sheet to the lantern . like the picture below.

I have used different color papers to form a alternate color pattern.

Finally cut two golden strips to stick at the head and bottom of the lantern.

The golden color paper makes the lantern look more attractive. Also use small square size of golden paper on the closed end of the folded paper.

Now cut streamers from the left out paper to make the tail of the lantern. stick the tails at the base of the lantern in alternate combinations.

Illuminate it with light bulb connection.

Thus a traditional lantern is ready.

Hello Readers,

It has been long time i have made something so fresh, colorful

and peaceful art of flower decoration.
Every diwali I come up with some unique idea but this is with grace of lord vishu
I was struck with the idea of flower rangoli.
Every time I visit ayyapa temple in my vicinity i find this beautiful arrangement of flower,petals and leaves in the premises.
the beautiful scent of flowers and the radiance of oil lamps all over the place simply reminds me life can be so peaceful in its natural form.

Thus I post my Diwali blog on flower rangoli:
Items required: beautiful artifact or a circular flat container, flower of your choice and some foliage available in your surrounding.
I have used flowers like gerbera, shevanti, tagar ,purple flowers and small sized green leaves to form a green background.

Cut the flowers stems and remove any damaged petals.

Half fill the container with water and arrange the flowers to form the border of the the container.

to create a green backdrop i used small leaves allover the water bed .

Now place some bright flowers like i placed Gerbera flowers in different patterns to form different designs.

We can place small flowers over the center of large flowers to create a contrast effect of colours. picture below explains the same.

Thus a beautiful piece of art is ready to decorate your premises on festivals and special occasions.

Below I have tried to make another beautiful flower art on a circular flat container.Intially fill water into the container and start arranging flowers in circles. Picture below explains the same.

Its all your imagination how beautifully you can make a perfect balance of colours and flowers.

I balanced the red colour by forming a circular ring of red petals over the small white( tagar) flowers.

ahhh! one more flower rangoli is ready!

No Cost Magazine Gift Wrap

Welcome Back!

This month i am posting a quick yet contemporary method of packaging.
It was one of colleagues farewell in college.We decided to surprise her with a memorable gift right from the ribbons,packaging and obviously the gift.

As we all were brain storming in the library something flashed in my eyes. it was the Vogue magazine cover page that my friend was holding in her hands.
This is when i thought why not use these glossy thick paper for wrapping. I used goggle guru to find such wrapping idea and yes there were some unique gift wrapping ideas.

Procedure:
Material Required: Old magazine, tape,ruler,ribbon, gift.

Select a magazine paper of your choice.

We selected a black paper for outer cover. The gift wrap was to be designed in a bag shape with the ribbon in center to close the open ends.

better to wrap the gift in a plastic sheet or a magazine paper to avoid the tape stains on the gift box.

then wrap the gift with a black paper or any bright color paper of your choice.

We found out a sabyasachi advertisement paper which we thought would look classy as main cover.

We wanted a bag shape thus closed one side and left the other side open
punched two holes at the open end of the wrap.

Insert a bright ribbon through the holes and tie a knot thus your gift is ready.

Button Art

Hello,
Monsoon a climate we all mumbaikars waited so long has finally arrived this week. A cool and refreshing weather to enjoy and blog.
Ohhkk ! Now to talk about my post this month.
As my little one is growing like every parents we cant stop buying some cute boy wear.but in couple of days these cloths go short for him.
baby wear generally have such cute and amazing accessories on fabric that we feel preserving them, one of which is cute, designed buttons, I had a collection of buttons from my boys old clothes.
i kept thinking of utilizing these buttons somewhere and gradually i came up with these beautiful art work.

Redecorating a lampshade

Material Required: Lampshade, fevicryl 3d liner,colorful buttons, fevicol

I was inspired from a tree design in a local magazine,Made a pencil sketch of the tree on the lampshade.
First i started highlighting the outline of the tree with a brown liner as i wanted to show the tree trunk
pictures below explain the procedure.

To add some greenery to the tree I filled in the tree branches with green 3d liner. picture below explains the same.

Allow it to dry for next 15-20 minutes.
you could easily find a set of colorful buttons at a novelty shop.
I found these buttons at a novelty shop in my area.

Once the tree is dried we can stitch the button as leaflets on the tree branches. Allow the buttons to stick properly . thus your lampshade is ready.

We could use it as an artifact and also in the form of a decorative lampshade.

Chocolate bouquet

Hi there ,

Back Again after a long but blissful break. It was only when Amrita our smart bakery chef came up with an idea of chocolate flower bouquet.

I readily volunteered in her chocolate making art.Its a quick and beautiful make over of chocolates to present our loved ones.

All you will need will be: wooden skewers,green tape, kite paper, streamers, chocolate wrappers,scissor and celofin paper.

Method : First roll the skewer with green tape to make the steams.

Now folder a kite paper into a triangle shape. In the picture below I have folded a rectangular paper into a triangle shape.

Roll the triangle into a conical shape.The picture below explains the same. hold the cone in shape by staples on the open ends.

Wrap the chocolates with wrappers of your choice.

Pierce the skewers in the center of the chocolate to hold the structure.

Now insert the skewer in the paper cone as shown in the picture.

Thus your flowers are ready.Now place them together and wrap them in bouquet style like the picture below.

Please try this simple creative art of chocolate bouquet.

Chocolate fantasy

Hi there, I am in my last trimester and ready to anytime rush to the hospital. All these while I wondered why I didn't experience strong cravings. but these last days of pregnancy I actually understand what actually are cravings.

On last Saturday midnight I got up to relish an entire potato wafer packet and more to add on I was making everything that had potato in it.This week I wanted to have chocolates and chocolate coated doughnuts. But my over protective husband restricted me to indulge in refined flour food. I knew he was right but cravings can make you crazy.Luckily I did have a compound chocolate slap with me.Thus an idea struck why not make some chocolates and doughnuts.thus this post got its existence.To make dry fruit rich chocolates you may need:chocolate slap,chocolate plastic mould,roasted cashew nut, almonds, walnuts and raisins.picture below displays the items required.

To melt the chocolate we need to create a double boiler to prevent the chocolate from burning by direct contact with heat.

To make a double boiler first take half water filled container and then place a shallow container over it. thus with the help of steam the chocolate starts melting.

At a point you will find that the chocolate has developed a glaze and easily drips down the spoon.
Take a clean plastic mould and brush it with melted chocolate to prevent any air bubbles or pores to be seen on the top surface.

Place the brushed mould inside the refrigerator to solidify the chocolate molding. After 15-20 minutes take the mould out and fill it with your choice of dry fruits. Now fill the chocolate moulds with molten chocolate.

Refrigerate the mould for 30- 40 minutes. Once they are solidified you could easily demould it.

These are some of the demoulded chocolate shapes. You could wrap them with choice of wrapping paper and thus ur home made chocolates are ready.

Candle Art with Mehandi

Hi there, this week has been full of festivity. It is Ganesh Utsav celebration in every street of Mumbai. Lord Ganesha is said to be worshipped before starting any new venture, work or entering a new property.

His idol is worshipped and placed for 5-7 -11 days in huge decorative pandals. I always look forward for this festival as you get to see lot of creativity in terms of design, colour in decorations and to take the blessings of bappa.

During festival time we apply Henna on hand to beautify them. I have been trying to master this art for a while now.

An idea clicked me as I was doing some designs on my hand if I could use this art on some other surface. When I researched I was surprised to find this beautiful art made on wax candles. These candles were used as Center piece.

I selected some easy mehandi design and got started on a clean white Candle. Thus below you could find the details.

Requirement:

A big candle, Mehandi Cone, sketch pen to make an outline and a satin ribbon.

Procedure:

First clean the candle if required. Make a desired outline with a sketch pen on the candle. By doing this designing with a mehandi cone would be easier on the candle.

I have decorated the bottom and head part of the candle with mehandi.

The snowflakes and tiny dots were made with mehandi to fill the empty space.

Allow the mehandi to dry and then decorate it with a satin ribbon of your choice.

Thus your beautiful center piece is ready.

Veggi Basket

Hi there,

We had an event at our college which required some good hand crafted baskets or containers to display raw food ingredients.

We got a beautiful lot of baskets for the event, this clicked me to hand craft a basket.

I researched different basket making techniques and easiest way to craft was with newspaper or magazine paper.

Thus below is the procedure for basket making

Materials:

Newspaper/ magazine paper, fevicol, 2- waste c.ds, spray paint.

Procedure:

Take a sheet of newspaper and divide it into half vertically. With the help of pencil start rolling the paper into a cylindrical roll/ pipe. Close the open end of paper with fevicol.

Make 9 to 15 such rolls. To make a strong base I have used c.d as the base layer. You could also use circular card board sheet.

Place all the rolled pipes equidistant from each other and stick them on one side of the c.d with the help of fevicol. Now apply fevicol on the c.d with rolled pipes attached to it. Over this stick the second c.d .

This will give a sun like image. Picture above will help you understand better.

Keep these infused c.ds below a heavy object so that they can adhere to each other.

Now again make 20- 30 cylindrical rolls/ pipes from the newspaper and keep it aside.

On the base structure that we made attach a roll /pipe to the base. Now start moving this pipe alternately through this attached pipe. Picture below displays the interlocking of pipes.

Always adjust the interlocked pipes properly to avoid gaps. Make sure the interlocking of pipes moves in a straight line.

If you feel the basket has got desired height cut the open ends of the rolls and stick them on the rim of the basket.

Thus your basket is ready. To make it more appealing you could paint it with some color. I have spray painted it with bronze color.

I use it store vegetables, you could use it according to your requirements.

Wine Bottle Decor

Hi There,

Welcome back. A good wine can be ones greatest pleasures. Whether you are a novice or a connoisseur enjoying a glass of wine can be sublime experience.

Tasting Satori Merlot was one such experience I can’t forget. A medium bodied wine which goes best with spicy food.It was a memorable dining experience and the empty wine bottle somehow fascinated me to get creative with it.

Thus the requirements for making a wine bottle vase are:

Wine bottle, spray Paint, choice of ribbon/lace,

Procedure:

1. Dip the bottle in water for some time as it becomes easy to remove the label on the bottle.

2. Take the dry wine bottle and stick a double tape in desired shapes to avoid application of paint on these areas.]

1. Apply the spray paint from a distance for proper application.

2. Let the paint dry for 30 minutes; apply a second coat of paint to cover any left out spaces.

1. After the paint has dried slowly peel off the double tape. Thus a pattern will be created.

1. To accessorize it I have used golden ribbon on both the ends of the bottle.

2. Thus your wine bottle vase is ready.

This vase could be decorated with artificial fillers or flowers. Also most of us use these bottles for planting indoor plant- money plant.

This could be a good way to beautify these bottles.

Yeh hai meri Kahaani

Hi there myself the front row Incisor and I am here to speak on behalf of my lost family comprising of molars and premolars. Few of my brothers(canines) are also here to address you all.

It has being a very long journey of cutting and mincing wafers,burgers,chocolates,pizza and desserts.

We are only 8 of us who have survived –malnourished,bleeding and counting our last days.

This is all because of our Owner- Raj Malhotra.

Age- 28

Profession- businessman

Job Profile- Monitor Operations,9-1 pm job,attend functions and parties.

Aim In Life- To eat,drink and party hard.

Achievements – 6 root canal treatments,recent development of fissure because of inadequate chewing of food as no teeth left.Likely to go for a denture by this year end.

We were 32 of us when Raj was 18,he explored his freedom he tried some best eateries and popular snack corners around the colleges.

We were tried on hard, chewy, sticky, sweet ,tangy food products, Initially we enjoyed the textures and flavors but slowly we realized we were intoxicated with high proportion of sugar which caused cavities and black linings on teeth... There were nights when molar and canines couldn't see each other.

There was lot of sufferings we came across during night.Our owner scrubbed us only in mornings for a couple of seconds. We never enjoyed a relaxing massage of the brush and minty paste.

He rarely washed us after having meals. We smelled, stink ed and covered with plague all over us. We all longed for some fresh tangy fruits and vegetables for some nourishment.

Soon the day arrived when our biggest molar had given up as he was screwed with cavities and was bleeding.

In a days time we visited our Spa care unit(Dental Clinic).What an experience guys,we were scrubbed,bleached and jet sprayed. As been Incisor we recover faster but 6 of our molars had no chance of improvement left. That’s when Root canal was done to all of them.

I think Root canal must be a painful procedure as we had no cutting and chewing job for a change.It was only liquid that was gulped in for a day.

Medical visit had increased and there was a control on food types .We were losing our siblings one after other. the most devastating phase of life is when you helplessly see your dear one dying before you.

Raj is 28 now and has lost his confidence to smile,his speech has changed and diet is limited to soft and watery supplements!

We are 8 of us-four above and 4 below.We have lot of emptiness besides us.

The moral of my story is please care for your body and its part. Once gone you cannot recover them.

Learning
Brush your teeth thoroughly at least twice a day, for two minutes each time.
Spend time moving the bristles at and below the gum line, where it is most important to clean.

Floss your teeth daily and after any food that will stick in your teeth.
Visit your dentist at least every six months and every time that you have a problem with your teeth.
Care for your body part before they perishes away.

thank god!its 20th century

This year has been with many sweet surprises so far. I did an international trip to Thailand and the experience was unforgettable.

As I landed in India I had my brother’s engagement to attend and plan for his wedding. As being from hospitality sector I was given the responsibility to look into event management and menu planning. I willingly took the responsibility.

As days passed I experienced lot of fatigue and insomania. After a medical checkup I got the best surprise of my life that I was expecting! This is a best phase of life for any women.

I was excited yet confused with a long list of do and don’ts in my first trimester. I had every single lady-friend, colleague and neighbors sharing their experiences. And all had a different story to tell.

I remember my friend’s granny telling me “She got to know her pregnancy in her second month as she never experienced vomiting and nausea. Also there was nothing called sonography or Doppler test. The only thing they relied on was faith that the little one was safe, healthy and active.

I was a bit worried that how healthy my body was and the development of the fetus. It was the 11^th week when I did my first NT-Scan and a Doppler test. During the NT-scan I was amazed to hear the heartbeats and see the body part which was only 3inches in size. This made me more responsible towards my daily diet and fitness. A Doppler test is done to see the hormone growth and if any symptoms of Down’s syndrome in the foetus.All the reports were normal.

This is when I felt how modern day health care has made our life easier. In this fast paced life we suffer with so many ailments that need to be diagnosed and treated on time. Modern day health care helps with accurate diagnosis that is less painful and time consuming. Over a period of years the life expectancy of a person has also increased due to number of remedial treatment available for different diseases. The equipments used for health treatment cause less pain.

Thus I thank god that I live in 20^th century where modern day healthcare has made life simpler and better.

Presenting a Gift

I feel gifting a special one is like showing his importance in our life; whenever we select a gift we look for something special and make it look as beautiful as possible.

A gift has to be attractive from outside as much as it is from inside. Thus I thought of posting something on packaging of a gift this month.

To make a gift even more appealing this is something that anyone can easily do.

Material Required: Wrapping paper, scale, marker, scissor and glue.

Procedure: wrapping paper could be of your choice and color. Better to use two contrast color papers.

Depending on the size of the gift decide the length of paper to be used. After wrapping a gift we can use the remaining paper to make a beautiful flower from cut strips.

Draw vertical lines with 1 cm width between each of them

With the help of a scissor cut these strips.

Join the open ends of the strip with glue to form a ring. Press the ring in the center to form a petal like shape.

One after the other sticks all the six rings to form a flower.

I have used two wrapping papers to make flowers of different sizes.

These flowers can be assembled together to form an attractive center piece.

We could place this flower on the gift as required. Special thanks to yogita!

Towel Origami

Towel Origami

Hi there,

This post is on similar lines of my first blog post. I have been doing towel art for a while now.

Every time I do this with my students they are amazed to find something so beautiful can be made out of towels. Our college Students won a silver medal at an intercollegiate competition on Towel Art recently.

This time I have demonstrated a cute dog with towel.

Material required: Bath towel, Bath Mat, big circular bindis.

Head Making: Take a bath mat and fold into half horizontally.

Now placing a finger on the center of the folded mat pick the open end of the bath mat and place it on the central line parallel to the finger.

Do this step on both sides to obtain a triangle formation as seen in the picture below.

Fold the triangle backwards,It should look something like this.

Start rolling the both the ends till the center .

Now hold the folds together and turn the other side around.

Twist the open ends down to form the ears.

Stick 3 bindis to show eyes and nose of the dog. Thus the head is ready.

Body Making: Take a bath towel and start rolling it from both the ends till they reach the centre.

Now fold these rolls and pull out the open ends from the center of the rolls

Hold the adjacent open ends in both the hands as shown in the picture.

Pull the adjacent end in opposite direction to form a body. The body should look something like this.

Now place the head on the body as shown in the picture.

Thus your cute loyal dog is ready.

Water Fountain

Hi There,

Finally I could find something to experiment .I visited my cousin’s place this December and was amazed to find a beautiful waterfall she had made. It was placed in the living room, the sound of tiny water stream lets created a calm and serene environment

The beauty and charisma of any waterfall is so immense that one can’t resist saying –“Wow”! This is why I wanted to craft one waterfall with all available materials. Below is the description to make one

Material Required: Thermocol sheet, Cement, plastic container, water pump, artificial green foliage.

Procedure: Break the Thermocol sheet into small pieces into any shape and size.

In one container mix 2 cups of cement with ½ cup of water to make a thick paste. Mix the thermocol pieces into cement and place them one above the other to form a mountain.

Cut 5-6 strips of thermocol to form steps on the mountain. Mix these strips in cement and lay them on the front side of the mountain. Allow the structure to dry for 3-4 hours.

To make a sturdy structure pours a cement paste on the structure again.

Fix artificial green foliage in between the gaps of the mountain. Allow it to dry for 3-4 hours.

Take a plastic container which can easily fit in the mountain and water pump inside it.

Apply a thick cement paste on the plastic container and allow it to dry. Make sure all the parts of the container are sealed with cement. We do this to create a pond Image.

A water pump is a machine which helps in cyclic movement of water. It is easily available in any hardware shop.

I have used a vase to elevate the mountain and placed the water pump in the container filled with water.

Attach the water pipe on the tip of the mountain so that the water trickles down the steps of the water fall.

I use the natural flowers to decorate the container to give a touch of nature.

Thus the waterfall is ready.

Rangoli Making

In a city like Mumbai where life is fast paced we always prefer to pick something that reads “Ready to Use” to save time. As festive season is approaching we have so many things to plan and so less time to make. Decoration is one such element that we all look out for in the market.

Traditionally Rangoli is a kind of decoration done on the floor in every Hindu house at the entrance. It is a decorative design of colors made on floors and has its own religious importance. We get to see a wide variety of designs and types of rangoli from different parts of India.

Nowadays we have so many modified forms of Rangoli making available in the market. Thus this post is on Rangoli which is easy to make and takes less time.

Material Required :White sand powder, Powder colors, Pencil with a rubber end, tea strainer, chalk, some glass embellishment.

Procedure: I have tried to portray a peacock with the sanskar bharti motifs. With the help of a white chalk make 3 semicircles as the outlines.

Use a strainer to spread the Rangoli colors as it spreads evenly. While spreading the rangoli try to spread the colour only in respective blocks.

After all three semicircles are filled with colors with the help of a rubber ended pencil make the design.

The rubber end helps in easy mobility of the pencil and smooth design creation.

Below you could see the peacock design made by using Sanskar bharti motifs.

Below is a circular pattern of design to shows the feather design of the peacock.

To enhance the appeal of the rangoli you could use some embellishments. I have used some glass pieces in this rangoli.

Finally wipe the outer surface of Rangoli for any spread of colours. Place a diya on the rangoli.

below are some more designs with the help of a pencil. Thus you have a traditional rangoli which can be done without any expertise in this art.

Food is a perfect example of creativity and uniqueness. I always enjoy cooking with various food ingredients. I have my own comfort food out of which one is Pasta.

It is a quick fix meal and filling too.

Pasta muddled in a coating of rich creamy sauce and some crunchy veggies is a sheer delight. I want to share my quick and easy pasta recipe that’s called

CREAMY PASTA WITH OLIVES, MUSHROOM AND CORN

You may require:

Ingredients:

Delmonte penne pasta - 1 cup
olive oil - 1 tbsp

Rosemary, thyme - 2-3 leaves

Basil- 2-3 leaves

Corn – ½ cup

Mushroom- 2-3 no’s

Olives- 2-3 no’s

Chili flakes- a pinch

Mozzarella cheese - 25 gm

For White Sauce:
1/4 tsp of butter
1 cup milk
1 tsp Maida / all purpose flour..
Pepper powder - 1/4 tsp

salt a pinch

Method:

Take 3 cups of water, add ½ tablespoon of olive oil and allow it to boil.

Add a cup of penne pasta and boil for 15 minutes.

Drain the boiled pasta and keep aside.

Heat a pan, add 1 tbsp of olive oil on it.

Add chopped thyme, rosemary, basil corn, mushroom olives and saute them for half a minute

To make perfect pasta always half cook the veggies to retain their crunchiness.Add little salt to taste. Olives may have salt, so add very little salt.

Now add the prepared white sauce. How to make a white sauce?

For white sauce:

Heat a Sauce Pan, add little butter and let it melt, now add the flour and fry it light brown in color. Add boiled and cooled milk to the sauce pan and mix well. Remember to turn the flame to medium here. Keep stirring the milk with the flour, till it gets little thicker like sauce. Add little salt and pepper to taste and remove from the flame. Now pass this sauce through a strainer to get a smooth texture.

Add the boiled Penne Pasta's to the pan and give a toss so that the veggies and pasta's mix together.

Finally grate some cheese over the pasta. Serve hot.

Plate the pasta with a garnish of chili flakes.

Thus your Pasta is ready. I have not used ketchup in this recipe but i wanted to exhibit my delmonte product .

Nothing compliments pasta better than a bottle of wine.

As I started this journey of blogging never thought I would come across so different forms of art. Art has no limitation in terms of material, use and ways of portraying it.

This time it’s Nail Art. The art of painting and decorating nails is not something new but something getting interesting day by day. It can be stated as funky, loud, subtle way of accessorizing an outfit.

There are different types of nail art, some of which are French manicure, acrylic, bead and stamping nail art. I have tried to show an animal print nail art below.

Animal Print nail art:

Material required: Manicured long nails, base coat paint, brown, yellow and black nail paint, top coat, fine paint brush/tooth pick.

1) Apply base coat/light shaded nail paint. A base coat is essential as it prevents the nails from getting stained and gives a smooth surface to work. You can see the base coat used in the picture below.

2) Apply tiny drops of brown nail paint randomly on the nail. Wait till the drops are completely dry.

3) Draw black paint strokes around the brown circles like in the picture below. Allow the paint to dry.

It has to appear something like this

4) To enhance the appearance I have used yellow nail paint spots in between the gaps.

5) After the paint has dried apply a top coat. A top coat is a transparent medium which keep the nail paint on nails for a longer duration and gives a shine.

6) Thus your animal print nail art is ready.

Hi there, I am in my last trimester and ready to anytime rush to the hospital. All these while I wondered why I didn't experience strong cravings. but these last days of pregnancy I actually understand what actually are cravings.

To melt the chocolate we need to create a double boiler to prevent the chocolate from burning by direct contact with heat.

To make a double boiler first take half water filled container and then place a shallow container over it. thus with the help of steam the chocolate starts melting.

At a point you will find that the chocolate has developed a glaze and easily drips down the spoon.Take a clean plastic mould and brush it with melted chocolate to prevent any air bubbles or pores to be seen on the top surface.

Place the brushed mould inside the refrigerator to solidify the chocolate molding. After 15-20 minutes take the mould out and fill it with your choice of dry fruits. Now fill the chocolate moulds with molten chocolate.

Refrigerate the mould for 30- 40 minutes. Once they are solidified you could easily demould it.

These are some of the demoulded chocolate shapes. You could wrap them with choice of wrapping paper and thus ur home made chocolates are ready.
