The transfer between Buenos Aires EZE (international) airport and Jorge Newbery/AEP (domestic) airport is like most intra-city airport transfers. Generally close, the drive can take between 30 minutes and 2+ hours depending on traffic and your driver.

Getting into Buenos Aires Ezeiza, you can prebook a car service, take a bus or take a taxi. Tienda Leon is a well known transport service worth looking into. "Aeroparque" is AEP/Jorge Newbery. The transfer should cost between $15 USD and $40 USD depending on the quality of your transport operation.

In order to travel to Chapelco Ski Resort, you have to fly to Chapelco local airport. It is near to the city of San Martín de los Andes and code is CPC when booking. Right now, only Aerolineas Argentinas flies there, from Buenos Aires / (Aeroparque Jorge Newbery) AEP
and Esquel / (Esquel Airport EQS). Note that if you're coming in internationally, you'll have to switch airports in Buenos Aires from Ezeiza to Jorge Newbery/AEP airport. See details here: Airport transfer in Buenos Aires.

The flight between Buenos Aires and Chapelco takes approximately 2 hours.

Ski Season in Argentina

Of course, being south of the Equator, ski season in Argentina is the opposite of ski season in North America. Generally, the seasons are as follows.

High season: (mid July to end of July)
Middle season: (beginning of July to mid July) and (end of July to end of August)
Low season: (mid June to early July) and (end of August to early October)

Most resorts open in mid-June and close by the middle of October. So get going now!

Chapelco ski resort, situated 20 kilometres (12 miles) away from the city of San Martin de los Andes, is one of the three biggest resorts in Argentina. Its infrastructure and its sights' magnificence make visitors come back every year to enjoy the snow. Chapelco is the perfect place where to forget about all your problems and keep peace with your soul for as many days as you can stay.

Chapelco offers the skiers its famous gondola, with capacity for 6 persons, which travels more than 1,600 metres (1 mile) in just 5 minutes, protecting the occupants from the heights' winds. It also has other 9 lifts (open from 9:00 to 17:30) which can carry up to 11,700 skiers per hour, allowing them to slide down 40 kilometres (25 miles) of slopes among trees and mountains. The runs are located between 1,250 and 1,970 metres above sea level.

Facing the growing demand for places where to snowboard, Chapelco has also introduced a snowboard park, finally. The park is located at 1700m altitude as a way to guarantee snow quantity and quality all through the season.

Flying to Iguazu Falls from Buenos Aires is a pretty simple endeavor. There are two airlines that fly to Iguazu from Buenos Aires: Aerolineas Argentinas and Lan Airlines.

Both Aerolineas Argentinas and Lan Airlines operate several flights daily from airports in Buenos Aires to Iguazu. Flights can be booked on the web or through tour operators. The latter usually combine flights into package deals that include hotels and airport transfers.

Bar Sur in Buenos Aires is a great place to see a tango show. Small and intimate, Bar Sur has only a few tables so guests are right up close to the tango dancers. Bar Sur has great music, dancing and atmosphere.

Located in Buenos Aires' San Telmo neighborhood, Bar Sur is a great place for dinner and a show. Tango shows start at 8pm and last until the wee hours of the morning. Audience participation is encouraged during some songs, so get ready to test your tango skills.

Effective December 1, 2007, US passport holders travelling to Bolivia will require:

1. A visa with 30 day validity - cost $134.00
2. US tourists will be required to present proof of adequate funds and hotel reservations for the duration of the trip, or a notarized invitation from a Bolivian citizen
3. A valid proof of yellow fever vaccination (a health center or clinic must issue a "yellow card" and certify the yellow fever vaccine)

Wine and Cigars in Buenos Aires

A trip to Argentina isn't complete without plenty of wine and cigars. You should plan on tasting a lot and having the rest mailed back to your home so you don't have to lug it around in the airport.

Catena House is a great choice for the Argentine reds. The famous Catenas, Catena Alta, Catena Zapata and Angelica Zapata will delight any discerning palate. Other reds of note include Luigi Bosca and Los Nobles.

If whites are more to your taste, the Norton Sauvignon is one of the finest you'll find.

To complement the wines with a nice cigar, stop by Tabaqueria Inglesa. It's on Paraguay Street, and Florida street., a few blocks from the Marriott Buenos Aires. They (legally of course) sell fine Cubans. Pick up a few and take your chances mailing them back to the US. It's worth the risk - worst case you'll just lose them in the mail!

Iguazu Falls

One of the most amazing sights in Latin America is Iguazu Falls. Conveniently enough, this is a short trip from Buenos Aires and even a day trip if you are really short on time.

You can usually get a cheap flight on LAN Argentina. If you want to spend the night, the Sheraton Internacional Iguazu Resort is one of the only choices, but a good one.
