This is my pic taken while visiting post office at zero kilometer area Yogyakarta two days ago. The Central Bank building is being repainted and cleaned right now. If you visit Jogja in the future you'll find it covered by new paint and look more beautiful. This building is one of beatutiful buildings in this amazing city...

Colorful Amaris Hotel in Jogja

Amaris Hotel Jogja is a colorful hotel ^^. I've never seen other hotel with such as colorful design like it yet. I love this unique style.

But we're seaching for the service, not just hotel's colors right? As a part of Santika Indonesia Hotels and Resorts, we could hope for it's best services. Amaris Jogja site said it provide you 71 rooms. Interested in trying to find out? Just come to Jogja and check yourself in. Proove it by yourself. [Already have your experiences with this hotel? You may write your review @ comment box, thanks...]

It located at Jl. Diponegoro 87, near the famous Tugu Jogja. You may walk around in the early morning and reach Tugu easily :)
You may meet fruit sellers on their journey to Yogyakarta city easily. I found this banana seller's motocycle just now as pictured. Many people bring their fresh fruits to be sold at this tourism destination everyday.

If you visit Jogja, you won't get any trouble to buy fruit, from local farm fruit or even imported fruit. Just come here to feel the city of javanese culture atmosphere...

The Beauty of Hotel All Seasons Yogyakarta

I visited salak park in Taman Agrowisata Turi last Sunday. Joining my son class event there, I was entering this park in 8.00 in the morning. There's a place to pick this fruit by ourselves and eat it. You may pick it, eat it but not carry out the fruit. Just pay IDR 10.000 and eat it as much as you like.

"Makan sampai kenyang deh di Kebun Salak Agrowisata Turi ini. Kebun ini dibawah pengelolaan Pemkab Sleman, dan cukup ramai dikunjungi pada hari Minggu. If you're visiting Sultan Palace (Kraton Yogyakarta) you'll find many people using traditional wear there. They are 'Abdi Dalem' who work everyday to serve Sultan and his family.

I found an another interesting photo in this page. Just click to find out.

"Abdi dalem are people who voluntarily subjugate their services to the Kraton (palace) and Sultan and his extended family. They prepare almost all of Sultan’s daily necessities and perform Javanese traditional ceremonies, inside and outside Kraton. Abdi dalems are organized based on functional services, where they inherited such title of service prior to Sultan’s official entitling.

But most of all, abdi dalems are the true believers as well as guardians of Javanese tradition." (taken from here
Well there's no enough money here to protect cultural assets from rich buyers and maybe no other choices for Joglo's owners. They have to stay alive too, with their family, childrens, needs...

Traditional Joglo House Could Soon Disappear from Kotagede

Slamet Susanto, The Jakarta Post, Yogyakarta

Joglo, a Javanese traditional house, will soon disappear from Kotagede, Yogyakarta should the current rate of sales and conversion continue.

Based on the data from the Kotagede Art, Culture, and Tourism Institute, between 1985 and 2007, Kotagede lost only one Joglo per year, but after the 2006 earthquake, the city has lost 31 joglos.

The other 25 damaged joglos have also been sold as the owners could not shoulder the renovation cost.

"I am crying when seeing the fact," Nashier, an activist from the Kotagede Art, Culture, and Tourism Institute, said. "Can you imagine, a joglo, which has been there for hundreds of years, must be sold only for Rp 5 million (US$500) or Rp 15 million due to an economic hardship after the earthquake,"

He said Kotagede joglos had declined from more than 200 to 125 joglos, and the number could drop further should there be no certain measures from the government to deal with the sales and conversion of joglos.

"We have proposed a tax break for joglo owners ten years ago, but there is no approval from the government up to now," Nashier said.

He also called on the government to find a grant in order to prevent joglos from being sold and converted to different kinds of buildings.

"So far, we have done such an effort. We just got funds from the University of Gadjah Mada to take over six joglos and conserve them," he said.
If you come alone to Jogja, and you're confused with direction to your friend's address, ask him/her to guide your direction to her/him started from Tugu. From tugu to south, north, east or west. Tugu is one of the most famous landmarks in Jogja. Everyone knows it and it was like a center of Jogja too.

"Tugu Jogja is the most popular landmark of Yogyakarta. This monument is located right in the center of the crossroad between the Mangkubumi, Soedirman, A.M. Sangaji and Diponegoro roads. The Tugu Jogja that is almost 3 centuries old has a very deep meaning and it keeps some history records of Yogyakarta." You may read more in here.
Tugu used to be a place to stopping by in the night, taking a picture there, touching it :) and there's people think that your visit isn't completed if you didn't touch this tugu. But you know, tugu is one of favourite places too, to used as a domonstration location!

You saw it in my pic above. I took it while some akhawat from muslim students organization showed their opinion about something. They were just a little amount of students, but the location was great to get attention. Well, go fight and show your feeling in peace, sisters!
Today is a holiday in Indonesia. I was asked by my wife to have a breakfast in Jalan Mangkubumi, and then went to Kaliurang. We bought a special and fave cullinary food from Kaliurang, called 'jadah' which were divided into sweet or salty tasted. Jadah made from sticky rice (beras ketan). Yummy... special taste!

We didn't have much times, so we're going back home. We're stopped by in front of an orchid farm in Jalan Pakem luckily. I guessed this farm is just one of many orchid farms here, and visiting an orchid farm in the morning was great!

Visiting an orchid farm will fresh our eyes... If you like some of the orchid farm's collection, you may buy it. The price is good, not too expensive, because we get it from the first hand!

We saw hundred of orchids ready to be sent or bought. The farmer served us with smile and we asked him some questions about orchid. Finally, we bought an orchid too :)
I suggest you to visit the amazing temple from the old era. Borobudur, it's the name of the temple, is not in Jogjakarta area. But, don't worry... it's not taking too long time to reach there. I will help you to get good vehicle to carry us.

Once, I've joined Abang and Akak from Perak Malaysia (our brother and sister who linked with us by internet and some kind of little bussiness) and we went to Borobudur together.

"In photo: Abang, Akak, Sis Hafy and my beloved wife. We started the journey in the morning, and left Borobudur in the afternoon. Make sure to take umbrellas :)"
Borobudur is a ninth-century Mahayana Buddhist Monument in Magelang, Central Java, Indonesia. The monument comprises six square platforms topped by three circular platforms, and is decorated with 2,672 relief panels and 504 Buddha statues. A main dome, located at the center of the top platform, is surrounded by 72 Buddha statues seated inside perforated stupa.

The monument is both a shrine to the Lord Buddha and a place for Buddhist pilgrimage. The journey for pilgrims begins at the base of the monument and follows a path circumambulating the monument while ascending to the top through the three levels of Buddhist cosmology, namely Kāmadhātu (the world of desire), Rupadhatu (the world of forms) and Arupadhatu (the world of formlessness). During the journey the monument guides the pilgrims through a system of stairways and corridors with 1,460 narrative relief panels on the wall and the balustrades.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 158px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_T7_p67Ppu1E/ShNaSXbZNOI/AAAAAAAAALg/XP7cdu-A6lo/s400/Borobudur-Nothwest-view.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5337709254937228514" />Evidence suggests Borobudur was abandoned following the fourteenth century decline of Buddhist and Hindu kingdoms in Java, and the Javanese conversion to Islam. Worldwide knowledge of its existence was sparked in 1814 by Sir Thomas Stamford Raffles, the then British ruler of Java, who was advised of its location by native Indonesians. Borobudur has since been preserved through several restorations. The largest restoration project was undertaken between 1975 and 1982 by the Indonesian government and UNESCO, following which the monument was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Borobudur is still used for pilgrimage; once a year Buddhists in Indonesia celebrate Vesak at the monument, and Borobudur is Indonesia's single most visited tourist attraction. It is the only beach in Jogja which is designed to become a cullinary tourism destination. I've once joined my friends to visit this beach and we were so lucky to join other visitors in waiting and to meet fishermen came back from the ocean. We got fresh fishes from the fishermen and we brought it home as a gift to family.

We ate our breakfast in warong. There was a lot of waroongs ready to serve you. We had special menus from this warong, and completed by sambal and others. We ate while enjoying a natural view and felt the wind from the southern ocean.
I suggest you to come to the beach. It's interesting to be here and your great travelling in Jogja will be completed here!
You may imagine it, Jogja is still coloured by old javanese culture until now! We call Jogja as Kota Budaya, the city of culture. It is located in south-central Java and surrounded by the province of Central Java (Jawa Tengah) and the Indian Ocean in the south.
I've lived in Jogja for 5 years and still find it as a special region with so many interesting places to be visited. There's Keraton (Sultan palace), some other old buildings, mount Merapi, some beautiful beachs, and elses.
Jogja, as a province, is subdivided into 4 regencies and 1 city. I live in Sleman, few minutes reached by using motocycle from the city. No worries ok, I'll join you to visit interestig places around Jogja when you're ready to come here. And there's some trusted people ready to serve you too, insha Allah :)
You may read more about Jogja in here.

Visiting The Beauty of Mount Merapi

It's not enough to you if you come here to Jogja and not visiting Mount Merapi. You must spend at least half of a day to visit this mountain. You will find a natural view and fresh air there.

I've visited the mountain and there's no doubt it is one of many exotic places in Jogja, that we should choose to be visited. Exotic view and great adventure (I was using my MTB in an unforgetable downhill experience). Great place!

"Mount Merapi, Gunung Merapi in Indonesian language, is a conical volcano located on the border between Central Java and Yogyakarta, Indonesia. It is the most active volcano in Indonesia and has erupted regularly since 1548. Its name means Mountain of Fire. It is very close to the city of Yogyakarta, and thousands of people live on the flanks of the volcano, with villages as high as 1700 m above sea level", said wikipedia.
