Not a flyaway in sight: There??s nothing better for our ego than a cool winter day with 0% humidity. Profound Beauty??s Arctic Chill ($22) has our hair convinced it??s mid-December year round. The magical mousse-like substance instantly eliminates any trace of frizz.

Want to look and feel younger?
Have more energy? (In bed, too!)
Lower your impact on the environment?

According to raw foodies you can have all that and more, just by making different food choices.

A raw food diet delivers on those promises by eliminating processed and cooked foods. Heating food above 116 degrees is believed to destroy the ??life force?? (aka enzymes) that aid digestion??that means nutrients aren??t absorbed and unprocessed toxins are left behind according to Rod Rotundi, founder of L.A.-area raw restaurants, Leaf Cuisine.

Instead, you eat more fruits and vegetables??remember, it??s important to get your 5 a day??which means the diet is fiber-rich to help cleanse your body and eliminate waste. It??s also heavy in sprouts, nuts, grains, beans and seaweed.

The thing we notice most about our raw foodie friends? Their amazing (seriously glowing) skin! Beauty experts agree??just ask celebrity hair stylist Frederic Fekkai, who implemented nutritionist Natalia Rose??s Raw Food Detox Weight Loss Program for clients at his New York City spa.

Ready to infuse your body with millions of enzymes? Try Natalia??s recipe for ??Green Lemonade.??

                    ****************

From Natalia Rose??s Raw Food Detox Weight Loss Program:

1 head romaine lettuce or celery
5 - 6 stalks kale (any type)
1 -2 apples (recommended: organic Fuji)
1 whole organic lemon (you don??t have to peel it!)
1 - 2 inches fresh ginger (optional)

Process the vegetables in a juicer (not a blender). Pour into a large glass and feel the enzymes rushing through your body!

In just 10 minutes, the temperature inside a parked car can rise 20 degrees above the temperature outside??it??s unsafe for kids, pets and these portables:

Cosmetics: Heat can cause them to melt, separate or dry out??and may kill preservatives that prevent bacterial growth. Discard an item if its color, scent or consistency changes. (Soupy sunscreen, anyone?)

Food: Toss eggs, soft cheese, milk, poultry and meat left out (above 40 degrees) for 2 hours or more. Whenever possible, put groceries in an insulated bag or cooler, instead of the trunk.

Medicine: Many drugs become less potent if exposed to sunlight or kept above room temperature (77 degrees). Ask your pharmacist about your prescriptions.

Thankfully, when the car is hot, you can still hydrate??contrary to rumors about toxins in heated plastic, the American Cancer Society (and the Environmental Protection Agency) says stashed water bottles are safe.

The latest fitness marriage takes the zen of yoga and pilates, and combines it with the results of resistance training. This means you work harder and burn more, says Crunch instructor Lois Miller.

Miller introduced the gym’s core-centric Steel Pilates classes (think a half-stability ball, dumbbells and pilates) at its Chicago location 2 years ago. And now, the classes are finally being rolled out in New York and LA. The upside: “You’re adding balance and stability, and strength training.”

Other gyms are joining the bandwagon, too. Iron Yoga, a similarly rigorous class incorporating weights into power yoga poses, created by triathlete Anthony Carillo, is offered at the New York Health & Racquet Club locations.

If your gym hasn??t caught on to the trend yet you can still try warrior one with weights at home with the Iron Yoga DVD or this easy-to-follow Dummies guide.

It seems fitting that we??d first spot the latest detox craze in L.A. (land of Britney, Lindsay and Paris).

When it comes to wellness, the City of Angels is always on its toes. Literally …

Discover the ionic cleanse, a super-charged bath for your little piggies that uses positive and negative ions to stir up the toxins in your system, drawing them out through the 2,000 pores on the soles of your feet.

At the end of a simple 30-minute soak, the results are visible: the once clear water changes color based on your particular toxicity (black for gall bladder, brown for nicotine, foamy milk for lymphatic system). Ewww!

New York-based Dr. Jerome Greenberg tells us that he??s broken fevers and changed his digestion with the treatment (great for insomnia and headaches, too), but adds, ??Is there good peer-reviewed scientific evidence? No, but it definitely does something to you.??

Care to dip your toes in the water? Call 1-877-315-8638 for a practitioner near you.

For the same ewww-worthy results at-home, try the Takara Detox Foot. ($19.95 and up.)

The deluge of information about mercury contamination (affects the brain and nervous system) has us concerned. We know it??s a wonderful source of protein, good fats, vitamins and minerals??so what??s the catch?

American Dietetic Association spokesperson Susan Moores, MS, RD reels us in:

Large, predatory fish tend to be at risk for greatest contamination??like shark, swordfish, tilefish, king mackerel, tuna (albacore has 3x the level of methylmercury as canned light tuna). Eating these fish once weekly is “safe” for most adults. Pregnant women (or those trying or nursing) should avoid them.

If these fish sound familiar, understand your exposure with the NRDC??s mercury calculator.

And when possible, opt for wild salmon (not farmed), tilapia, trout and sole??they??re light on mercury. Finding healthy fish boils down to good manufacturing practices, so ask the shop about its sources.
