There are several ways to detoxify your liver.  The first is to eat lower on the food chain.  Avoid meat and carbohydrates and add more fruits and vegetables.  Here’s a few of the top:

• Kale-Out of all the greens, kale is king.  It’s anti-inflammatory, low in calories, high in fiber, and naturally cleanses the digestive system.  Sauté with fresh garlic (also a great detoxifier), add lemon juice and olive oil.

• Lemon-Lemon dissolves uric acid which breaks up bile in the liver and strengthens liver enzymes.  Its digestive qualities soothe bloating and heartburn.  Try adding lemon juice to a glass of hot water before breakfast (those with ulcers should not use lemon juice).

• Turmeric-Turmeric is a peppery spice with a slight warm, bitter flavor.  It increases the production of bile which in turn, eliminates toxins.  It also has anti-inflammatory properties.  Mix lentils with dried raisins or cranberries, walnuts, add a sprinkle of turmeric for a healthy, filling meal.

In addition to stepping up the fruits and vegetables, there are a few Nature’s Sunshine products that can assist in your cleanse:
