Expert opinions that dermatologists share on their Patient Education Library are also displayed on the Find a Dermatologist Directory to help increase the doctor’s visibility online as an expert in dermatology care.

The new “Health Library” can be quickly integrated into the practice website so that the doctor’s website display in-depth resources for patients to learn more about their condition and treatment options. The educational content is personalized with the medical practice name and can be customized to reflect the doctor’s medical specialty and unique approach to care.

The new Vivacare service includes several major enhancements including mobile-friendly content, a new interface and the addition of over 400 new patient education titles. The content has been organized into disease education modules, or “Centers”, with up-to-date resources. For instance, the “Asthma Center” provides printable handouts on different types of asthma and asthma medications, videos on how to use an inhaler, an asthma diary that helps patients track their asthma symptoms, and other asthma management tools. In addition, the number of Spanish-language titles has been expanded to serve the needs of Spanish-speaking patients.

Physicians and other providers will find these resources particularly helpful as the CDC is reporting an early rise of flu cases this year, and the predominance of the H1N1 strain with its associated risk of severe symptoms.

“Patients searching for health information online prefer to learn from the person they trust most with their medical care,” says Dr. Becker.

These new “Centers” will provide a more intuitive means for patients to find out content relevant to their diagnosis and treatment plan. For instance, the “Asthma Center” will feature patient handouts and videos regarding types of asthma, asthma medication and asthma management tools all in one convenient location.

The new service will launch with over 1,200 patient education titles organized into more than 60 Centers.
