The original electro diva Roisin has released a song with early nineties hooks to die for. It’s called Momma’s Place and I bet some remixes will be even better. She performed it early Autumn as part of her DJ set at London’s SeOne club where she was very pregnant and ever so charming. Ms Murphy is at the moment enjoying taking care of her newborn baby girl Clodagh thus we might have to wait with the album a bit.

Perfect incarnation of synth-pop. Heard this song by the UK duo HURTS just a few days ago and can’t get it out of my head. Deservedly so, it seems this track has similar effects on other people as also the BBC query tipped HURTS to break big in 2010. Enjoy the new year!

I’ve known for some time already that Karin Dreijer Andersson from The Knife would do a solo album, but it catched me just now by looking at the last.fm hyped artists chart that the first single is out already. Karin is now Fever Ray showing that she is the mystical/surreal half of The Knife. Of course, the video is exceptional as well.

New Junior Boys

Probably the most authentic and enjoyable modern synthpop authors, the Junior Boys, have returned. And it’s a worthy continuation of their lonely sound. Their third album Begone Dull Care will be out this spring. The first track off the record is “Parallel Lines”.
