The Benefits of At-Home Physiotherapy: Why More Patients are Choosing Home Visits

2024-06-09T00:29:00.000-07:00

In today's fast-paced world, the convenience and comfort of receiving healthcare services at home have become increasingly appealing. At PhysioEntrust, we understand the importance of personalized care, which is why we offer comprehensive at-home physiotherapy services in Gurgaon. Here, we explore the benefits of at-home physiotherapy and why more patients are choosing home visits.

1. Convenience and Comfort

One of the most significant advantages of at-home physiotherapy is the convenience it offers. Patients no longer need to worry about traveling to a clinic, finding parking, or waiting in a crowded waiting room. Instead, they can receive high-quality care in the comfort of their own home, making the entire process more stress-free and enjoyable.

2. Personalized Care

At-home physiotherapy allows for a more personalized approach to treatment. Our physiotherapists can observe the patient's home environment, making it easier to identify potential hazards and tailor exercises that can be performed safely at home. This personalized care ensures that the treatment plan is specifically designed to meet the patient's unique needs and goals.

3. Better Outcomes

Studies have shown that patients who receive physiotherapy at home tend to have better outcomes. The familiar environment of home can help patients feel more relaxed and comfortable, which can enhance the effectiveness of the treatment. Additionally, the one-on-one attention from the physiotherapist ensures that patients receive focused care, leading to faster recovery and improved results.

4. Time and Cost Savings

Receiving physiotherapy at home can save both time and money. Patients can avoid the costs associated with travel, parking, and taking time off work to attend appointments. Moreover, at-home physiotherapy can reduce the need for frequent visits to the clinic, as the physiotherapist can provide comprehensive care during each home visit.

5. Increased Adherence to Treatment Plans

When patients receive physiotherapy at home, they are more likely to adhere to their treatment plans. The physiotherapist can provide immediate feedback and adjustments to exercises, ensuring that patients perform them correctly. This real-time guidance helps patients stay motivated and committed to their recovery journey.

6. Family Involvement

At-home physiotherapy allows for greater family involvement in the patient's care. Family members can observe the sessions, learn about the exercises, and provide support and encouragement. This involvement can be particularly beneficial for elderly patients or those with chronic conditions, as it fosters a supportive and nurturing environment.

At PhysioEntrust, we are dedicated to providing the highest quality at-home physiotherapy services in Gurgaon. Our team of expert physiotherapists is committed to helping patients achieve optimal recovery and improve their quality of life. If you are looking for convenient, personalized, and effective physiotherapy care, consider scheduling a home visit with PhysioEntrust today.

Experience the benefits of at-home physiotherapy and take the first step towards a healthier, more active life. Contact us to learn more about our services and how we can help you on your path to recovery.

Tomorrowland is set to come to India

2014-09-01T10:24:00.001-07:00

One of the most popular music festivals in the world and among the most prestigious in the EDM scene, Tomorrowland, is set to come to India..

It is probably one of the most influential music festivals in the world today. One of Belgium’s greatest exports to the world of electronic dance music, Tomorrowland, has seen the who’s who of the EDM world take to the stage.

From Avicii, Tiesto, Swedish House Mafia, David Guetta, Armin van Buuren and Axwell to Paul van Dyk, Steve Aoki and Fatboy Slim, anybody who is really anybody in the EDM space has graced Tomorrowland. With such a rich lineage to boast, Tomorrowland is set to take India by storm. If the strong buzz in the local EDM circuit is to be believed, a major announcement is due early next month.

Says an industry source, “The live performances wing of Universal Music India will be bringing the feted Tomorrowland experience to India. India has emerged as a major EDM destination after Sunburn and it’s no surprise that there is international attention on the scene here. Universal is looking to expand its live music space in India and there can be nothing bigger than Tomorrowland to do it for them. It’ll be the biggest event in the country’s growing music calendar.”

Universal Music India is headed by former frontman of India’s heavy metal legends Brahma, Devraj Sanyal. Sanyal has EDM experience thanks to his three-and-a-half-year stint with Percept, the promoters of Sunburn. He was a part of the core team that conceptualised Sunburn and left Percept to head Universal Music’s India and SAARC region. When asked about his involvement with Tomorrowland, Sanyal paused and said, “We’re neither confirming, nor denying that we’re doing Tomorrowland… or other projects for that matter. We’re currently ironing out some details of a project we’re working on and will make an announcement when the time is right… probably in October. We’ve consolidated on our merchandise business as well as non-label ones, so intellectual property will be a major part of our focus now.”

Tomorrowland, which has largely been the preserve of Belgium, has under the Tomorrowland World banner also moved to the United States, and will make its debut in South America next year as Tomorrowland Brasil. Let’s hope the announcement next month will give us a chance for Tomorrowland India. Watch this space…

Trusted Contacts - New facebook security to get back your account if get locked out

2014-04-06T13:19:00.000-07:00

Its a good move of facebook security team. They just recently released a Trusted Contacts service by which you can get your locked account back. You just have to add 3 to 5 close friends that you can call for help if you ever have trouble accessing your account.

Trusted contacts are friends that can securely help you if you ever have trouble accessing your account.

How to add Trusted Contacts ?

Go to the Security Setting of your account. You can directly click here to open Security Settings.

Select Trusted Contacts there.

Now just click on Choose Trusted Contacts and a pop up window will open and ask you to choose trusted contacts.

Then just choose 3 to 5 trusted contacts by searching your friends. Remember if you remove someone from your trusted list, facebook will notify to the trusted contact about the removing activity.

Trusted contacts are the contacts which contain very high chances to access or recover your account so only add the trusted ones.

What after adding Trusted Contacts ?

In future if your facebook account gets locked by any activity, then you can gain access on your account easily by contacting your trusted contacts. Facebook will send a security code to your trusted contacts, and you have to put the code in the account recovery console to recover your account.

Thank you. Keep your account secured.

College Degree Or Self-Learning?

2013-11-10T02:35:00.000-08:00

Steve Jobs, Mark Zuckerberg and Bill Gates are some of the biggest names in the tech industry and they were also dropouts. Using them as examples, it’s been going around on the Internet that you can still make it big and earn billions even if you don’t have a college degree.

Is a degree actually that important in the world of tech?

A year ago, Yahoo! CEO Scott Thompson was revealed to have lied about his degree in his resume. Instead of a degree in computer science and accounting, he didn’t actually do computer science in college. The fact that he was previously CTO and President for PayPal didn’t help. He resigned 10 days after the matter was revealed, citing "health issues".

The conclusion we can draw from this is, Yes, a degree is important… to head a company that you do not own.

Intelligence Gathering

Funny business aside, I decided to dig a little deeper and direct my attention to Web designers and developers instead. The Internet knows all, if you know where to find your answers. Mine took the traditional route: I emailed a few of our (Hongkiat.com) authors to ask for their opinions.

If you are at that crossroads in your life, wondering if you need a degree to have a good career in web design and development, read on.

The Baseline

Generally, to have a good career in web design and web development, you can never stop learning. At the end of your four years of torture in university, there is the tendency to think that "I’ve learned all there is to learn"… only to come out into the real world and realize, "I’ve been learning outdated technology!"

Actually "a lot of the languages (PHP, MySQL, jQuery, MongDB etc) can be learned without needing a college degree," writes Jake. Anything that has to do with building for the Web in terms of practical use cannot be tied down with a syllabus or taught to you by a teacher.

It’s not like medicine or law – human anatomy doesn’t change overnight, and technically, lawyers (or senators) make their own laws, and they seem to be taking their time. "This field is so big, and grows at such a rapid rate, [that] almost all universities get left behind," writes Victor.

The Curriculum

Web design and trends evolve through shorter shelf-lives due to tons of competition online but when it comes to universities, you may find that they don’t even "offer you what you want to learn about, just a combination of a few computer-related (on the surface) topics," writes Thoriq.

"When you DIY on your own education, you get to pick the niche and specialisations you see a future in," he adds. Nancy writes, "the Internet provides tons of information an any topic you need, so you can learn everything from home." Basically, you learn on your own time and your own dime.

Note: And you have the web development industry to thank for that so please support your altruistic web designers / developers who share their codes and ideas with you without charge.

So You’re Saying I Can Skip University?

Well, not quite. For starters, you would miss out on a lot of things. Not all universities are created equal but they all mold you to multitask, build social skills, provide you with great networking circles for future opportunities, and basically churning a more organized you.

To add to that, Alvaris writes, "university is just a place to master your self-learning ability". If you want to take the self-taught route, you need to know which direction you are aiming for, but the good thing about self-learning is "you can move at your own pace and study the things you really care to learn." (Jake)

Traditional, Degree-Loving Companies

If you are not content with just working online from home, preferring instead an office setting with colleagues and watercooler gossip, then you really should go for a degree. All the respondents brought this up, but Alvaris summarizes it (best) as follows, "although web design is very modern and tolerant, most companies that hire in-house web designers are still traditional, so they will request to see your academic certificate."

Learning Is Hard!

Another reason to go for a degree is that not all of us have the motivation to learn something on our own. "Some people are just not internally motivated to teach themselves because it is extremely challenging," writes Jake. In a structured education (although it may lag behind) we learn the basics, then the intermediary and the advanced materials, the current trends and what lies in the near future.

In self-learning you see no start or no end. It’s a beautiful, perfect mess of everything and nothing, and it’s up to ourselves to figure things out. The short of it, "It’s not for everyone." (Jake)

So Should I Or Shouldn’t I Get A Degree?

It depends on what you want to do with the degree. If you want to dabble in the corporate worldof design and development, you probably need that piece of paper (plus a ton of creativity). If youwant to be your own boss (mostly because you cannot work for someone else – Alvaris) then having a graduation scroll may not be that helpful.

If you don’t like studying (let’s face it, no one likes studying – Kay), then remember that even self-learning is a form of study, if you will, "a skill almost every professional should develop" says Arfa. Plus, it’s also more cost-efficient (Thoriq, Jake, Alvaris, Victor, Kay) and you don’t waste time on topics that do little to help you advance in web design and development.

Of Debts And Degrees

For what it’s worth, some universities are still producing high-rank fliers who continue changing the world with what they do, but a good education is (ridiculously) expensive. See student debt in US breaching ~~$1bil~~ $1tril to get an idea.

Addison writes that most of her fellow graduates are heavily in debt with student loans, and probably will be for the rest of their lives. "The only real way out is to be entrepreneurial and take matters into their own hands, which shockingly few schools really teach you to do." Yet should. As a compulsory subject. And featuring technopreneurs if possible. Just an idea.

Conclusion

Having a degree is no shortcut to success (in fact, there isn’t really a shortcut of any sort to success – diploma mills be damned) but it serves as a yardstick of your capabilities.

Even Mark Zuckerberg and Bill Gates didn’t drop out from just any university, it was Harvard (how easy was it to get into Harvard?). And Steve Jobs never really fully dropped out of school (the fees were too much of a burden for his parents.) He still attended classes that interested him, a calligraphy course to be exact. If you love that beautiful font you see on your computer right now, that’s a result from Jobs‘ love of beautiful typography.

How to restore Tablets after too many wrong pattern attempts

2013-06-17T04:20:00.000-07:00

I have tested this trick today in my HCL ME Y3 Tablet, which contains Android 4.0 OS.
Actually I am using pattern draw function to unlock my TAB and My cousin draw some wrong pattern to unlock the tablet more than 15 times. Now TAB asked for sign in in Google account to unlock the tab.
But the data transferring mode is OFF and when I entered the SIM card it doesn't ask for the options, which simply means I was unable to connect to the internet to actually sign in.
I have searched a lot on Google about this issue and finally get a perfect solution to unlock the Tablet.

Note: After the following process your Tablet will be fine and unlock but your all installed application will be uninstall, But your SD card data will be safe.

If you also have entered wrong pattern more than 10 times in your tab, and it asks for the Google sign in to unlock the tab and you are unable to connect internet. So just follow these steps..

Step One: Switch off the tab..
Step Two: Press power on button + volume up button..
Step Three: When your Tablet logo comes out, press volume down button + power button. A waiting screen will pop up then, it looks like this:

This screen will be different for different Tablets

Step Four: Press power button during this screen.
Step Five: It will activate Recovery Mode which looks like this:

Step Six: Now select wipe data/factory reset from the list (move down through volume down button and select the option through volume up button)

Step Seven: After this process, select the option reboot system now. That's all, you have successfully unlocked your android tablet.

Is you still facing any problem in the process, you can ask in comments. This trick is tested in HCL Tablet series, Nexus Tablet series and in Samsung tablet series.

Facebook Auto Liker Script

2012-11-27T10:17:00.000-08:00

You must heard about my Facebook Auto Liker named as OUG Auto Liker. I am selling my auto liker script and will tell you the complete process of making $50 daily without any efforts.
Before starting just check my autoliker here: OUG Auto Liker

In short facebook auto liker can increase likes on any post, photo, comment, status or page. The logic behind this autoliker is Access Token.

What is Access Token ?

An access token is a random string that provides temporary, secure access to Facebook APIs.

A token identifies a User, App or Page session and provides information about granted permissions. They also include information about when the token will expire and which app generated the token. Because of privacy checks, the majority of API calls on Facebook need to be signed with an access token. All access tokens are generated with OAuth 2.0 authentication and authorization procedures.

Ok now here is the Plus Point of my Auto Liker Script:

The auto liker script will never expire, because facebook has been fixed the access token service. They can't change the getting access token method or the functioning of Acess Tokens.

Means, you can earn by your access token forever.

Earning Proof

Its not any fake screen shot of my earning. I have developed this tool for free likes providing service but some money with a little response of your visitor is not bad idea.

Buy this Auto Liker

I will send you a complete guide on How to Setup this script ? and How to easily make money with this script :)

Help PM Sahay - Mission Delhi, Connaught Place

2012-10-22T12:10:00.000-07:00

Standing against a pillar, his head lowered, he slips the pink duck-faced puppets into his hands and waves weakly. The passers-by don’t notice. The Delhi Walla meets PM Sahay one evening in B Block, Inner Circle, Connaught Place, Delhi’s Colonial-era commercial district. A pavement hawker, he is 74.

“At this age shouldn’t you stay home?” I ask him.

“I can’t.”

Mr Sahay is a saritorialist’s man. His ironed bluish-white full-sleeved shirt is tucked into his pleated light-brown trouser that has a black leather belt. His brown shoes are polished. With his white hair and brown-rimmed glasses, he looks like a retired bureaucrat.

Mr Sahay walks towards the next block. Taking each step is an effort. “My legs ache,” he says. “The doctor says that tests are needed but that’s expensive.” The Inner Circle corridor is lined with thick round pillars. Mr Sahay draws energy by supporting himself against these columns, as he walks past them one by one.

“I come everyday from Rohtak,” he says in his frail voice, referring to a town 50km from Delhi. “I’ve a wife, a married daughter and her children to support.” Mr Sahay has a rail pass that enables him to commute daily to Delhi for a monthly sum of Rs 160. He leaves home at 2.30 pm and returns by 11 in the night. At (old) Delhi railway station, a wholesale trader gives him 20 pairs of puppets, which he hawks in Connaught Place, where he reaches by the metro. Each pair is priced at Rs 40. “I’ve sold just two and now it’s time to leave.” The puppets are stuffed in an orange cloth bag hanging from his left shoulder.

Mr Sahay’s neighbours in Rohtak are ignorant of his salesmanship. “If they discover that I sell toys in Delhi’s streets, we’ll be disgraced.”

It’s getting dark. The mannequins at a Levi showroom are bathed in orange glow. The corridor’s lamps have been lit. Mr Sahay walks out into the open. He sits down on a stack of manhole covers placed beside a rubbish bin. A man emerges from a jewelry shop and gives him chai without exchanging greetings; it seems a routine service. Mr Sahay takes out a packet of Parle G biscuits from his trouser pocket.

“I retired as a bank manager. We had a son. He had done chartered accountancy. A few years ago I spent all my savings for him to start his office in Delhi. But he moved to Bahrain without informing us. Two years ago, we heard that he had died in an accident. We could not even see his body. Now, there’s nobody to earn so I must work.”

Mr Sahay dips a biscuit into the chai and looks at the shopping crowd. After emptying the plastic glass, he gets up. “My train will leave in another hour. Goodbye.”

___
This is for all Delhi guys,
Can we help this guy?

He will be an awesome maths teacher to kids.

Meet him some time and talk to him if he is interested in teaching any subject like maths/hindi/english
If he is ready then find some kids/parents who want a good tutor, I can say he is an honest man.
Suggestions in comments please.

Windows 8 Security Break : Logon Passwords Stores in a Plain Text

2012-10-12T11:52:00.001-07:00

Windows 8 is the first operating system from Microsoft to support alternative non-biometric authentication mechanisms such as Picture Password and PIN. A vulnerability discovered by a password security vendor - "Passcape" in Microsoft’s Windows 8 operating system that it saves a log on password in plain text and allows any user with admin rights to see the password details.

In September, though, some drawbacks of the new authentication method were reported by Passcape Software. The picture password had seemed invulnerable, because whoever tries to guess it must know how and what parts of the image to choose, and in addition, the gesture sequence. However, security experts from Passcape discovered that such a unique password is based on a regular account.

A user should first create a regular password-based account and then optionally switch to the picture password or PIN authentication. Notably, the original plain-text password to the account is still stored in the system encrypted with the AES algorithm, in a Vault storage at:

%SYSTEM_DIR%/config/systemprofile/AppData/Local/Microsoft/Vault/4BF4C442-9B8A-41A0-B380-DD4A704DDB28.

"Briefly, Vault can be described as a protected storage for user's private data. Windows Vault emerged with the release of Windows 7 and could store various network passwords. In Windows 8, Vault has extended its functionality; it has become a more universal storage but at the same time lost its compatibility with the previous versions. Thus, the 'old' Vault implements a custom password protection. While in Windows 8, it seems, this feature is frozen and it uses DPAPI-based protection only. Windows Vault is used by other applications as well. For example, Internet Explorer 10 uses it to store passwords to websites." described by researchers.

Any local user with Admin privileges can decrypt the text passwords of all users whose accounts were set to a PIN or picture password. In this regard, the picture/PIN login cannot be considered the sole reliable means of ensuring data security against cracking.

Experts warned that users should not only rely on the security of the picture password. It is difficult to break, they agreed, but it is necessary to take additional measures to protect the original text password.

How to choose the right mp3 player ?

2012-10-06T03:40:00.000-07:00

The first thing you need to do is to find out what your usage patterns are out of this device. Can you afford an expensive mp3 player, or do you want a cheaper one? You will use it while driving to and from work, working around the house or while exercising?

It needs to play video files and to show pictures as well? Or, maybe you need it to have a FM radio tuner or digital voice-recording features. There are two types of mp3 players: flash mp3 players and hard drive mp3 players.

The advantage of flash mp3 players is that they have no moving parts (they have an embedded memory chip) and are ideal to use while running or exercising. Another advantage is that they are cheaper than hard disk mp3 players.

Also, as long as the memory does not get corrupted, they will never crash. The disadvantage is that flash mp3 players have relatively low memory, but on the other hand they can be upgraded by choosing a larger memory card.

As new models of mp3 players appear all the time, older ones are available at cheaper prices, even for the hard drive mp3 players.

And lastly, research before you buy. Never purchase a gadget on impulse.

12 Year Old UK girl has IQ higher than Einstein's

2012-10-05T06:19:00.000-07:00

London: With an IQ of 162, a 12-year-old schoolgirl in UK has been rated brainier than even Albert Einstein and Stephen Hawking. Olivia Manning, from Liverpool, has been accepted into Mensa, the largest and oldest high IQ society in the world after she got a score of 162 in an intelligence test.

Her score is not only two points better than German genius Einstein and physicist Hawking, it puts her in the top one per cent of intelligent people in the world, the 'Daily Mail' reported. Being honoured with entry into Mensa means she will join a network of brains from across the globe.

As a confirmed genius, Olivia is now getting celebrity status at her school - the North Liverpool Academy in Everton. "A lot more people are coming up to me asking for help with their homework. I just like challenges and making my mind think," Olivia said.

Olivia admits having a knack for quickly absorbing and remembering new information, however, confessed being "speechless" after she discovered her score. Despite outdoing the likes of TV mathematician Carol Vorderman, who could only muster 154, Olivia is set to put the stage before sums.

She barely needs a script with the youngster saying she learned her lines for a Macbeth production within 24 hours. "The success of the Mensa enrichment club shows how with the right support, students can excel and become the best in the world," said her school principal.

After Angry Birds Ravio's Bad Piggies Now In Market

2012-09-30T11:19:00.000-07:00

After great success of Angry Birds, Ravio launched Bad Piggies, Here is the shot review of

the latest launched game.

Rovio, the game developer that created Angry Birds, is back with a new game. And this one stars the pigs — yes, the green smuggy foes of the angry birds — in the primary role. Rovio's last game, Amazing Alex, didn't really strike a chord with the gamers. It was not really a bad game but the gameplay relied too much on solving puzzle at the expense of fun. This is never a good thing.

With Bad Piggies, Rovio is returning back to its roots. Yes, there are puzzles in this game and it is significantly different than any Angry Birds game even if the familiar pigs are part of it. But still it is a game rooted in Angry Birds universe. The question is — Does it fly?

We find out...

Music, visuals and story

Story first. We all know that how the pigs salivate at the thought of eggs. They just can't keep themselves away from these eggs, even if it means going to war with the birds.

In Bad Piggies, the greedy green creatures are on an island. As usual they are after eggs. But to reach eggs, the pigs have to build various machines that allow them to pass obstacles or fly so that they can reach places high up on cliffs. This is where you, the player, come in. your job is to build the ultimate flying machine for the pigs from various parts that are available in the game.

Petri Jarvilehto, a senior executive with Rovio puts it like this: "Where Angry Birds was all about destruction, Bad Piggies is all about the joy of construction."

Bad Piggies is a pretty game. Given that it is set in a tropical island, there is lots of green foliage. If you have played any recent Angry Birds game, the visuals in Bad Piggies will make you feel at home. The visual style is same and the backgrounds are as detailed as Rovio makes them. However, the environment is not as destructible as it is in the Angry Birds games. The accompanying music is very good and compliments the gameplay very well.

Gameplay

Rovio set a very high benchmark with Angry Birds. It is a game easy to play and yet complex enough to challenge best players. It is casual and yet fun.

Bad Piggies aims to recreate the same magic, though with a different kind of gameplay. The puzzles in Bad Piggies are slightly more complex compared to those in Angry Birds. The task is to create good machines that pigs can use and to do that players have to carefully think about the role and placement of various items like a box, balloons, TNT and rockets etc. This is a little more difficult than flinging birds from a slingshot.

Another way in which the gameplay has changed is the way points are awarded. In Bad Piggies there is nothing to destruct. Instead the goal is to collect items. If you collect all the available items, you get three stars and if you complete the objective without collecting optional items, you get one star.

Bad Piggies is a lot of fun once you get the hang of tools and components available to you. But at the same time it is not Angry Birds. Primarily, there is one reason why many casual gamers who love Angry Birds may not like Bad Piggies. It is the nature of the game. Whether it is a good thing or bad, the truth is that as human beings we have more fun when we destroy things. Building things is a little tedious.

Angry Birds appeal to many of us because the objective is to flatten the fortification put up by the pigs! Smashing through the wooden planks, putting the black bird in between two stone pillars and killing the hidden pigs with a boom is immensely gratifying. Building flying machines has its own charm but it may not appeal to all.

Also, we did not like the new point system. Unlike the arcade-style point system in Angry Birds, where even destroying a flower yielded 50 or 100 points, in Bad Piggies all you get are stars. The arcade appeal is not there.

If you love playing casual games on your smartphone or tablet, you will likely spend hours with Bad Piggies. It's an enjoyable game, especially once you have crossed a few levels and are familiar with the way things work. Just don't expect it to be Angry Birds.

What Wipro, HCL, Infosys want in next generation leaders?

2012-09-27T06:43:00.000-07:00

Check what actually the best companies HCL, WIPRO and INFOSYS are looking for,

We will discuss what they want in next generation leaders..

According to the news in Times Of India Bangalore Infosys, Wipro, HCL and others are drawing up a new checklist of traits they want their next generation of leaders to have.

"One needs to have more courage now," says Matt Barney, vice-president and director, Infosys Leadership Institute, referring to employees in leadership roles. "It takes courage to predict what may happen with clients and businesses on a cognitive and computational front." Barney is also on the lookout for those who can learn and are innovative enough to interpret complex problems and come up with practical solutions that clients can apply.

For Barney, such traits are specific to IT because of the faster pace of change. "Till few years back, there was no cloud and before that no Java... one needs to be disruptive here," he adds.

Wipro is putting junior and middle management employees through psychometric tests to spot leaders with resilience and detachment. Those chosen are then measured on how they have bounced back from failure. Ability to cope with setbacks is emerging as crucial trait in a volatile economic environment.

Last year, an MNC IT firm appointed a 39-year-old as head of its business unit in India. Though he was of Indian origin, he had never worked here. He struggled initially. Later, he and consulting firm E&Y changed business tactics. The duo altered business model, made performance management razor sharp and had weekly sales performance reviews instead of bi-annually. He stabilised the Indian business in 18 months.

"While the last downturn was a lesson for senior leaders, this dip in business cycle is for the younger lot to learn from," said Milan Sheth, technical senior trade and partner at E&Y.

Business model changes forced by the global economic slowdown are forcing changes too. IT companies are moving to a non-linear model where they are trying to delink revenue growth from the need to hire more hands.

In the last five years, the average revenue earned per employee in the sector has increased by 19-20% for companies like Infosys and TCS.

"Earlier, more people on payrolls meant more revenue. But now, clients want more services from a smaller manpower," said PrashantBhatnagar, director - hiring and staffing for SapientNitro, marketing-technology division of technology firm Sapient. "This means hunting for those who are adaptable to disruption and change, can take risks and shorten their tenure of failure quickly," he added. Bhatnagar estimates that around 12% of 2.8 million industry workforce could be thrust in roles that could demand some form of leadership. Sapient employs 7,000 in India and has tweaked its talent selection procedure to seek out candidates who are comfortable with unknown settings.

IT services firm HCL wants employees who are capable of engaging with clients across different geographies, social and economic backgrounds. "We need employees who are good at problem solving, understand different industries and not just IT. Someone who disrupts our status quo and questions our ideas", says NaveenNarayanan, global head - talent acquisition, HCL Technologies. Narayanan gives the example of a junior employee who came up with the idea of an in-house social media portal. Though the senior management was sceptical about the idea, the employee persisted and managed to convince the top brass on need for it. Today more than 3/4 th of the employees are on it.

Aegis has picked a crack team of 500 employees with an average age of 25-35 years from its 57,000 strong workforce to help it beat competitors on price and margins. Aegis will put this lot into live projects and assignments that deal mainly with cost optimisation and negotiation with clients along with mentoring sessions. "There was not so much focus on costs earlier and now we need employees who are good at people management in these tough times," said SM Gupta, HR head for the company.

This sector hires around 2 lakh engineers in a year and according to a Randstad study is expected to add 227,328 jobs till the end of 2012. "Till now, concentration was more towards engineering which has left space for coaching in leadership development," says Infy's Barney.

Mid-rung IT firms that employ only a few thousands have it tough as well. They do not have the luxury of keeping people on the bench to train them. Training needs to happen even as they are executing contracts. "We need those who are good at managing paradoxes-change in business cycles that are more frequent now," said C Mahalingam, HR head of Symphony.

While earlier these companies could afford employees who could take risks rarely after much deliberation, today they need managers who can place bets often and get them right at first shot. A lot, who can ruthlessly stop businesses that do not pay, include training only where it is needed and cut investments that take time to mature, Mahalingam added.

The company, therefore, has changed its mentoring route that is focussed on "management of paradoxes." During leadership training, focus is now on finding answers to problems that have more than one solution rather than an 'either/or'.

How To Prevent your Blogger Blog from Redirecting to Country-Specific URLs

2012-09-14T04:20:00.000-07:00

Google, as most would know, redirects Blogger blogs to country-specific domains. For instance, if you open example.blogspot.com in your browser, you might be redirected to example.blogspot.in if you are located in India or to example.blogspot.com.au if you access the same blog from Australia.

The main reason why Google implemented country-specific redirection is selective censorship – they can now easily block a blog, or a particular page on a blog, in one country but still serve it in other regions.

Blogger and Country-Specific Domains

My traffic logs suggest that country-specific redirection in Blogger is now live in at least 15 countries. Here’s a complete list:

India [blogspot.in], Australia [blogspot.com.au], UK [blogspot.co.uk], Japan [blogspot.jp], New Zealand [blogspot.co.nz], Canada [blogspot.ca], Germany [blogspot.de], Italy [blogspot.it], France [blogspot.fr], Sweden [blogspot.se], Spain [blogspot.com.es], Portugal [blogspot.pt], Brazil [blogspot.com.br], Argentina [blogspot.com.ar], Mexico [blogspot.mx]

Prevent Blogger from Redirecting to Country-Specific Domains

This country based URL redirection does mean some negative consequences to your Blogger blog. For example:

The social stats – or Facebook Likes, Google +1s and Tweet counts – for your blog stories may be diluted as the URLs for the same story become different from different visitors.
You will have a similar problem if you are using an external commenting platform like Disqus or Facebook Comments.
Also, if canonicalization isn’t implemented properly, it may cost you some Google juice as external websites may link to your country-specific pages.

If you are not happy with the idea of Blogger redirecting your blog to a different URL, you can add the following piece of code to your Blogger template and it will always serve the .com address to your visitors irrespective of their geographic location.

Go to your blog inside the Blogger Dashboard and choose Template. Then click the “Edit HTML” button followed by “Proceed.” Next, copy-paste the following code into the template after the <head> tag.

Click the Save Template button and now your Blogger Blog will always serve with the blogspot.com URL.

This simple script parses the domain name (document.location.hostname) of your blog page and if it includes a country-specific URL (like blogspot.in), it will force-redirect the visitor to the blogspot.com address using the /ncr switch.Click the Save Template button and now your Blogger Blog will always serve with the blogspot.com URL.
