‘Explosive.’ Glasgow Evening Times

‘Compelling reading, this book pulls no punches.’ The Northern Echo

‘An excellent read, not just for those with a military background, but for all who wish to see the truth come out and justice triumph.’ Alan Downs, Amazon

‘Excellent book, very well written, gives a great insight into the Irag War and is well worth the money. This is the type of book that you do not want to end.’ Martin McLarnon, Amazon

Vivid Agenda was asked to co-write and find a publisher for Captain Tam Henderson’s gripping story. The book was published in 2008 by Mainstream Publishing (part of the Random House group), exclusively extracted in the News of the World and later cited at the Baha Mousa government enquiry.

’Warrior’ is the powerful true story of a British soldier’s heroism during the Iraq War and a shocking account how he was ruthlessly sacrificed by the establishment.

During the 2003 invasion of Iraq, Tam was in the thick of ferocious fighting and, amidst Basra’s chaos, he set up camp for the 200 men of Charlie Company, who were put in charge of the city’s most volatile districts. Having fought to recover the body of one of his men killed in action, Tam was horrified when his Warrior chain gun fired by itself and seriously injured a comrade. He was told to take the rap but refused, insisting that the dangerous fault on the gun needed fixing. He was convicted by a kangaroo court at Saddam’s palace and sent home in disgrace. But Tam fought back and embarked upon the biggest battle of his life – against the Ministry of Defence and arms companies.

Pacey and starkly authentic, ‘Warrior’ takes readers on an exhilarating roller-coaster journey that is by turns horrific, humorous and poignantly reflective.

Once upon a time Good Writing was the Cinderella of web projects. Everyone paid lip service to the idea that ‘content is king’ but Cinders usually remained locked in the scullery while the ‘real’ work got underway – the work that good web agencies excel at: programming, look and feel, wireframes, user-centred design, ecommerce, SEO and of course, social media. All vital ingredients of successful web projects. But, with Cinderella out of the way, the ugly sisters were able to flaunt themselves.

Bad Writing and Pointless Flash clumped their way across countless websites. Even when Pointless fell from favour, Bad was encouraged by the rise of the content farms. These were ‘websites which publish huge volumes of low-quality content’ (MacmillanDictionary.com). The farmers didn’t care to woo Cinderella when ugly Bad was putting herself about. Bad was cheap and she seemed to do the business. As long as the content farms were winning high search engine rankings and good profits, Cinders didn’t get to go to the ball.

Then Panda the handsome prince intervened. He’d spotted Cinderella on one of her rare escapes from drudgery and liked what he saw. He wanted everyone to appreciate her and so he persuaded his bosses at Google to change their algorithms.

“This update”, Google announced in February, “is designed to reduce rankings for low-quality sites—sites which are low-value add for users, copy content from other websites or sites that are just not very useful. At the same time, it will provide better rankings for high-quality sites—sites with original content and information such as research, in-depth reports, thoughtful analysis and so on”.

Good Writing was free at last and keen to get out and fascinate the world. (She didn’t have time to marry the handsome prince). Now she’s casting her enchanting spell over websites all over the kingdom and she can help you too. You’ll have put in some graft and show her how much you care but she’s worth it. She has a great agent that understands her – Vivid Agenda. We work with digital agencies and individuals to ensure Good Writing has a starring role in your project. Contact us now.

News release 08.06.11:

Vivid Agenda – a Manchester-based writing and content marketing agency – has gone global with the launch of The Kurdistan Tribune, an independent English-language Kurdish website which attracted more than 3,000 visitors from 53 countries in its first week.

Vivid Agenda’s team of specialist writers and internet designers constructed the site and provided editorial and strategic support. “The Kurds have a fascinating, proud and tragic history and their story is still unfolding” said Vivid Agenda director John Hunt. “We worked with the publishers of The Kurdistan Tribune to create a simple but compelling site with a global network of columnists and professional editorial standards from the start.

“As always with any great website, content is king and we are supporting the publishers to continue ensuring The Kurdistan Tribune is a fresh, authoritative voice for its readers, by attracting and working with the best Kurdish writers.”

Besides web design and content management, Vivid Agenda has worked on several published books, including ‘Warrior’, which appeared in the News of the World and was cited at a UK government enquiry into the Iraq war. It has also helped a variety of businesses – from security firms to relationship therapists – develop their communications.

Hunt added: “With this latest project, Vivid Agenda has proved that it can reach a diverse, global audience that is united in a common focus. We are keen to tackle any project where the client believes, like us, that first-class authoritative writing is central to success.”

Vivid Agenda has just launched its new blog which will feature regular info and tips on the power of great writing and story-telling.
