Vodacom Messaging Clients who have USSD strings with us have been automatically configured to handle 8ta traffic.

For those folks who perhaps aren't too clued up on USSD, it is the menu type system which appears when you dial one of those *120* numbers from your handset. You may have encountered this before when doing airtime recharge on your phone.

Our USSD product provides developers with an HTTP XML solution allowing for rapid deployment and custom integration. An API is available allowing developers to create their own menu structures with ease.

USSD is ideal for setting up a survey or for requesting specific information from a customer.

An enormous advantage is that USSD is available on all networks and handsets, which gives it enormous reach.

A few points to remember:

• Never login or update your details by clicking on a link in an Email.


• Always check the URL of the website is correct by looking at the address bar in your browser.

Each time you want to visit the site, you simply click the link and you are taken straight there.

What happens is that clients will receive an e-mail, asking them to login to their account to verify their details, or to activate their account. This e-mail is not sent from the company concerned.

If you click the link, it will take you to a website that is not the real website - you will be able to see that the website address is different. The owners of this illegal site then hope to trick you into completing and submitting your login details. They will then receive them and try to access your real account.

Why are we telling you this?

An e-mail has been circulated requesting people to login and update their details to avoid suspension, on their Vodacom Messaging accounts. These are all invalid and not sent by Vodacom Messaging. The mails are an attempt to obtain your login details.

Vodacom Messaging would like to alert you on this criminal activity which could be fraudulent means to access your confidential information.

In an Indaba daily News Article, South African Tourism's (SAT) acting CEO Didi Moyle revealed: "The focus at this year's Indaba is firmly on the 2010 FIFA World Cup and other global events coming to South Africa. We are using Indaba this year to show that we are ready and waiting to welcome 2010 visitors"

It seems the Indaba went off very well, and the dull weather didn't seem to put a dampener on festivities.
