5 Ways to Beat a Case of the Mondays

Do you ever struggle to get motivated on a Monday? We know it’s hard to get inspired for the week sometimes, especially if you’ve had a relaxing weekend. So, we came up with these 5 simple tips on how to get motivated on Mondays!

1. Have A Team Meeting

When you get to your workplace on Monday morning, gather your team together and open up a meeting by talking about your weekend. Ask your team members how their weekends went. Not only does this get people talking, but it builds relationships between you and your coworkers! Once everyone is relaxed and talkative, then you can begin your meeting. Talk about what needs to happen that week and provide encouragement to your team members. Perhaps you can even offer a reward for the end of the week if everything gets done by Friday – talk about motivation!

2. Have An Office-Wide Breakfast

If you and your coworkers are anything like we are over here at VoiceNation, then you love to eat! Eating is often a social event, and eating together with coworkers is not only fun, but it can be a time of relationship-building and team bonding. Breakfast is an essential part of the day, so why not do it together? Most people like bagels and donuts (especially donuts), so you know that people will get excited when they see them in the office. After conversing over breakfast, everyone will have energy to begin their day.

3. Make A To-Do List

When you get to work on Monday, before doing anything else, make your to-do list for the day. Start out by writing down little tasks that you can get knocked out in a few minutes. Write down the bigger things you need to get done, but don’t overwhelm yourself. Make sure everything on your list is achievable in a day’s time. When your list is complete and you are ready to get started, look at it and say “Let’s do this!”

4. Figure Out Your Goals

Sometimes thinking about everything that needs to get done in a week‘s time is overwhelming and stressful. In fact, it probably decreases motivation more than anything. Instead of thinking about everything in the big picture, figure out what your most important goals are for the week, and then come up with a plan to achieve them. When you realize that a goal is actually achievable, it is much easier to become motivated.

5. Manage Your Time

There is only so much time in a workday on a Monday. When you get to work on Monday morning, don’t waste time procrastinating and instead, work hard up until lunch time. Reward yourself with a nice lunch. Then get back to it. Be driven and dedicated to accomplish as much as you can in one day. It may even help you to compete with yourself – try to do more next Monday than you did this Monday!

Wishing All Moms, Especially Ours, A Very Happy Mother's Day!

For all the working moms out there, we just wanted to take a moment to congratulate and honor you on Mother's Day. Juggling work, home, and family is really hard, and you deserve major kudos for ALL you do. Your dedication to both work and family pays off. As a working mom, you have two full time jobs, and you get to reap the greatest benefits of both... You have a rewarding career and the ultimate gratification from raising your family. You may feel frazzled, overwhelmed, pulled in a million directions with not enough of you to go around 99% of the time, but hey, as long as you look like you've got things together, you've got nothing to worry about. Its difficult. It's exhausting. But know you are not alone. We're all trying to figure it out with you. And one thing's for sure... you are appreciated - at the office, and at home. Plus, no one else can run your life better than you! YOU are perfect for that job!

VoiceNation Volunteers at Gwinnett Children's Shelter on Arbor Day!

At VoiceNation, we know we can make a difference and our staff loves to get involved and volunteer in our local community. So, today, to celebrate Arbor Day, we're here at Gwinnett Children's Shelter planting a vegetable garden for the kids to help nurture, grow, and take care of. We hope that our garden inspires them and gives them a true sense of responsibility and accomplishment.

We've planted tomatoes, cucumbers, strawberries and bell peppers. We're so excited for the kids to get home from school today to see their brand new vegetable garden planted and ready. It feels so good to make a true impact on our community. VoiceNation has given us the opportunity to show how our work really does matter. Thank you Gwinnett Children's Shelter for having us out here today.

Company Culture: Fan Day Friday

You’ve probably heard about how VoiceNation really focuses on the company culture and on creating a good work environment. But, have you seen an example of it? We have a great one for you!

On Friday, April 26^th, VoiceNation employees participated in a dress up day that was designated “Fan Day Friday”. It was a day to come to work sporting a t-shirt in support of a favorite sports team! We had a lot of staff members participate and it was exciting to see who supported which teams. A huge benefit of doing an event like this was that it got people talking. Staff members found out they had at least one thing in common with other employees—they liked the same team—and therefore, conversations were started that may not have happened otherwise. In addition to having dress up days such as Fan Day, we do things for our staff members such as providing a fully stocked kitchen, staff development, upfront parking, the opportunity to dress casually on a daily basis, and, most recently, the opportunity to volunteer in the community during work! Also, we host quite a few fun contests for both our employees and our customers. We do all of these things to create a positive working environment. VoiceNation prides itself on the ability to encourage a company culture that is welcoming and inclusive to all of our employees. In return, our employees provide us with quality service, innovative ideas, and can-do attitudes every day!

Which Eco-Friendly Idea Won our 2013 Earth Day Contest?

A big thank you goes out to everyone who participated in VoiceNation's 2013 Earth Day Contest to raise awareness for environmental protection! We had so much fun with this contest! Our staff worked hard on their fun, innovative ways to save the planet and our customers and the general public had a great time voting for their favorite eco-friendly idea!

We know you are dying to hear if your favorite green idea received the most votes and won "most innovative"! The results of our Earth Day Contest are as follows:

1st Place: Sheila and her reused coffee maker as a gold fish tank! Sheila won the Rain Barrel and a $50 Home Depot Gift Card.

2nd Place: Kendrick and his portable eco-friendly trashcan for the car! Kendrick is the winner of a $50 Home Depot Gift Card.

3rd Place: Josh and his kiln-fired wine bottle converted to candle plate or cheese tray! Josh won a $25 Home Depot Gift Card.

Happy Administrative Professionals' Day from VoiceNation!

At VoiceNation, we are all about celebrating our team members – especially our Administrative Professionals! Our Administrative Professionals (let’s call them AP’s, for short) often do much of the work behind the scenes to make sure that everything in the office runs smoothly. Whether it is leading PIE meetings, recruiting new staff, scheduling fun office events, taking notes during a meeting, organizing the office, ordering supplies, answering phones, or whatever else needs to be done in the workplace, our AP’s are right on it. In addition to helping the office run smoothly, there is another essential job of our AP’s: to make the thoughts and visions of VoiceNation’s President, Jay Reeder, become a reality.

Our AP’s are always on board to try out new ideas or concepts that will further VoiceNation as a company. They truly exemplify our three core values: Passion, Innovation, and Excellence. They are always passionate when presenting new ideas, are the best at finding innovative solutions to problems, and continually demonstrate excellence in achieving every goal they set out to accomplish. These attributes, along with their can-do attitudes, are a recipe for success!

We are fortunate to have such a great team of Administrative Professionals who bring different experiences and unique gifts to the table. Their thoughts and ideas are appreciated and respected, and every one of our team members has a place in the company. And, since our employees provide us with their awesome dedication, we have devoted ourselves to them as well.
