• Ability to learn from others by listening to their takes and any suggestions given by the Guest Director
• Exposure to Talent Agents and Casting Directors

How it works:
In order to participate, you must be a Platinum Member of the voiceregistry. Once logged in you will see a Weekend Workout link in the toolbar. Every Friday by 6:00pm (PST), we will post the copy for the Weekend Workout along with specific direction for your recording. Practice the script over the weekend and record 1 mp3 of the copy with a slate of your name in front of the audition.

There are instructions online of how to return the audition to voiceregistry and your practice audition will be included in our grouping to be heard by the GUEST DIRECTOR. The GUEST DIRECTOR will listen through the spots and make comments where appropriate. On Tuesday of the next week, you can check back on the Weekend Workout page for a link to all the practice auditions with the comments that were provided.  This way, you not only learn from your own read but you can hear others as well.

As announced earlier this week, this week’s voiceregistry weekend workout Guest Director will feature Micaela Stepanovich of Solid Talent!

Micaela Stepanovich’s Bio
Micaela was born in El Paso, Texas but grew up in Santa Fe, New Mexico.  She moved to Los Angeles in 2000.  When the commercial strike came to an end that November, she began working at SBV as the Receptionist.  While there, she worked her way up the ladder and into the Voice Over Department (first as a scheduler, then directing auditions, and finally the Assistant to the Animation Agent).  Upon leaving SBV, she was employed by Osbrink as the Head of the Voice Over Department.  Micaela is now the Commercial/Animation/Video Game Agent at Solid Talent. Because Solid Talent is a boutique agency, she directs all in-house auditions.  Her talent has booked numerous ad campaigns which include, but are not limited to:  Old Navy TV, Dockers TV/Radio, Ciroq Vodka TV, University of Phoenix, Auto Zone, and Lexus Radio.  Micaela plans on expanding Solid Talent into a bi-coastal agency, having offices in both Los Angeles and New York City.

Who would become the NEW ANNOUNCER of the nationally syndicated game show, Wheel of Fortune?

After Charlie’s passing, the producers of Wheel of Fortune began featuring Guest Announcers.  According to Wikipedia, these Guest Announcers have included male voice over actors Don Pardo, Don Morrow, Johnny Gilbert, Rich Fields, Jim Thornton, Joe Cipriano, and John Cramer (source: Wikipedia).  Joining the company of these gentleman, is female voice actor, Lora Cain.

Lora Cain is the FIRST FEMALE Guest Announcer on a nationally syndicated game show!

JAMIE’S BIO
Born and raised in Chicago, Jamie always wanted to work in the entertainment industry.  At a young age, she started to audition, had representation and quickly received her SAG/AFTRA status by booking commercials.  She trained and graduated from Columbia with a BA in Theatre and moved out to California shortly after.  While working at an acting school, she hosted agent/casting director showcases & workshops and realized that she would rather be working for the actor, than actually being one.  She worked her way through the training program that was offered at SAA and has been the Voice Over and Commercial Scale agent for the past 2 years.  Although she loves living in Hollywood with her husband and her lovable husky Dakota she misses Chicago style hot dogs and the White Sox very, very much.

The PURPOSE of the NEW VOICEREGISTRY is to continually EDUCATE ACTORS (novice to seasoned) about all aspects of the voice over industry and provide those who are ready with EXPOSURE TO TALENT AGENCIES.

Making Voiceregistry affordable, accessible and truly useful is our goal.  It serves the needs of the Voice Over Actor as well as the Talent Agencies.  Voiceregistry’s Search Engine is a tool for Talent Agencies to help them find new talent for their rosters when they need new voices.

Voiceregistry’s Weekend Workout Opportunity provides you with:

• Practice
• Constructive Critiques of your practice audition
• Ability to learn from others by listening to their takes and any suggestions given by the Guest Director
• Exposure to Talent Agents and Casting Directors

How it works:
In order to participate, you must be a Platinum Member of the voiceregistry. Once logged in you will see a weekend workout link in the toolbar. Every Friday by 6:00pm (PST), we will post the copy for the weekend workout along with specific direction for your recording. Practice the script over the weekend and record 1 mp3 of the copy with a slate of your name in front of the audition.

There are instructions online of how to return the audition to voiceregistry and your practice audition will be included in our grouping to be heard by the GUEST DIRECTOR. The GUEST DIRECTOR will listen through the spots and make comments where appropriate. On Tuesday of the next week, you can check back on the weekend workout page for a link to all the practice auditions with the comments that were provided. This way, you not only learn from your own read but you can hear others as well.

Introduced to into the voice over business by the legendary Don Pitts, Vanessa started as an assistant at the prestigious talent agency Abrams Rubiloff.

Vanessa joined up with Bob Lloyd, The Voicecasters, in 1980 where she was exposed to the bigger picture of the casting process and acquired a thorough knowledge of actors, commercial houses and studios throughout Los Angeles.  She became known for her “ear” and an ability to draw out superior performances from her actors.  From 1981 to 1988, Vanessa was tapped as the head of the voice over department of Talent Group, adding strategy and talent management to her resume…

In 1991, Vanessa joined forces with Steve Tisherman, where she developed promo and trailer talent just as that aspect of movie marketing was blooming into the multi-million dollar business it is today.  They worked closely together, building a stellar roster and cultivating the premiere voices in the industry.

VOICEBANK.NET FOUNDER RETURNS
Jeff Hixon is back in the office and working as Voicebank.net’s CEO.  Jeff is the founder of Voicebank.net and Voice Box Studios which both became successful in the early 2000’s. After Voice Box Studios was successfully acquired by POINT.360 and the transition was complete, Jeff decided to come back to his first love, Voicebank.net!

Voicebank.net’s Stewart Wilson-Turner, recalls Jeff’s idea for a ‘solution to audition delivery’ (what is now Voicebank.net) and talks in detail about what Voicebank.net’s Founder meant by ‘the lumpy object’ in this lecture last September at the SAG Foundation.  If you missed it you can catch the RE-PLAY below!
